두부 CT촬영 시 비스무스 차폐체를 활용한 시각 기관의 방사선피폭평가 (Radiation Exposure Evaluation of Visual Organs using Bismuth Shielding Material on Head CT Scan)

  • 방사선방호목적의 두부용 수학적 모의 피폭체를 제작하여 두부 CT촬영 시 시각기관(눈, 각막, 수정체)의 흡수선량을 분석하였다. 이후 안구차폐에 따른 방사선량 감소효과를 분석하였다. 그 결과 안구의 흡수선량은 에너지가 증가 할수록 높은 선량을 나타냈으며, 선량이 높은 장기는 두부를 제외하고 눈(eye), 각막(cornea), 수정체(lens) 순으로 평가되었다. 또한 눈의 경우 차폐체 전 후 선량 감소율을 약 38%에서 55%까지, 각막은 약 35%에서 52%를, 끝으로 수정체는 전면만 차폐한 경우 약 51%를 전면과 측면을 동시에 차폐한 경우 약 67%의 감소율을 나타냈다.

  • Numerous motivational methodologies were analyzed with respect to improvement of the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in the industrial field. Common industrial protective devices under consideration included hearing protection devices, respiratory protection devices, eye and face protection devices, etc. It was found that several of such methods could readily be implemented in the real world to protect workers from hazardous industrial sterssors, such as intense noises, toxic air contaminants, and other dangerous industrial objects (e,g., chemicals). Current research issues and recommendations for future research are addressed.

  • Background: In Japan, new regulations that revise the dose limit for the lens of the eye (hereafter the lens), operational quantities, and measurement positions for the lens dose were enforced in April 2021. Based on the international safety standards, national guidelines, the results of the Radiation Safety Research Promotion Fund of the Nuclear Regulation Authority, and other studies, the Working Group of Radiation Protection Standardization Committee, the Japan Health Physics Society (JHPS) developed a guideline for radiation dose monitoring for the lens. Materials and Methods: The Working Group of the JHPS discussed the criteria of non-uniform exposure and the management criteria set not to exceed the dose limit for the lens. Results and Discussion: In July 2020, the JHPS guideline was published. The guideline consists of three parts: main text, explanations, and 26 examples. In the questions, the corresponding answers were prepared, and specific examples were provided to enable similar cases to be addressed. Conclusion: With the development of the guideline on radiation dose monitoring of the lens, radiation managers and workers will be able to smoothly comply with revised regulations and optimize radiation protection.

메추리에서의 Newcastle균 바이러스 $B_1$백신의 효능시험 (Efficacy of Newcastle Disease Virus $B_1$Vaccine in Quails)

  • The efficacy of B$_1$l live vaccine which is used successfully in chicken was examined against Newcastle disease in quails. A total of 480 male quails were divided into 4 groups, of which 3 groups were vaccinated via drinking water, eye instillation and spraying method and the remaining was employed as a nonvaccinated control group. At 3 weeks after the first vaccination a part of quails in each group was revaccinated. Efficacy of the vaccine was evaluated by the antibody responses and the protection rates after challenge with a virulent NDV. Vaccination of quails with $B_1$ NDV at 10 days of age resulted in beneficial effect compared to nonvaccinated group regardness of vaccination methods adopted although general protection rates were considerably low. Twice vaccination gave higher protection than once vaccination. Hemagglutination inhibition antibody responeses were significantly higher in groups of quails vaccinated by spray and eye instillation method than by drinking water administration. Antibody responses were marked at 2 weeks onward and until 5 to 7 weeks after vaccination. Antibody responses were rapid and marked after second vaccination. However, antibody level did not last longer than 5 to 7 weeks postvaccination. Vaccine caused no adverse effect on quails in terms of growth'rate, body temperature or clinical signs.

  • 일반적인 카메라의 시야는 사람에 비하여 매우 좁기 때문에 큰 물체를 한 화면으로 얻기 힘들며, 그 움직임도 넓게 감시하기에 어려움 점이 많다. 이에 본 논문에서는 어안 렌즈(Fish-Eye Lens)를 사용하여 넓은 시야의 영상을 획득하고 전방향 감시를 위한 투시(perspective) 영상과 파노라마(panorama) 영상을 복원하는 방법을 제시한다. 영상 변환 과정에서 어안 렌즈의 특성으로 인한 해상도 차이를 보완하기 위하여 여러 가지 영상 보간법을 적용하고 결과를 비교하였다. 그리고 ME(Moving Edge) 방법으로 움직임을 검출하여 다중 물체를 추적할 수 있도록 하였다.

  • This research provides practical data to develop UV protection masks and dust protection masks. It surveyed uncomfortable factors and significant characteristics for masks. It used 653 subjects 20-79 years old and performed the research from April to May in 2014. Wearing masks at outdoor activities is not widely popular yet, but golf players, mountaineers and old people were quite interested in masks. People mainly wore a basic shape mask, but main age group of each mask shape was different. People usually prioritized the protection function and comfort of wearing over design; however, women, young generation and people attending to outdoor activities longer than 1 hour considered design quite important. People going on picnic or camping consider mask characteristics most important. Therefore, various mask shapes and protective functions should be developed to reflect consumer needs. Meanwhile, the discomfort levels of masks were not too high, but old people felt more discomfort than young people. The most discomfort factors were 'other's eye', 'distracting face movement' and 'feeling of foreign object'. They also mentioned falling problem of C shape mask and short-rib shape mask, and asked for a 'tighter fit' at the ear.

뉴캣슬병 $B_1$ 생독백신의 효능비교 (Comparison of Efficacy of Newcastle Disease Virus $B_1$ Vaccine by Different Administration Method in Commerical Layer Chickens)

  • The immune responses of commercial layer chickens against Newcastle disease(ND) were compared among different administration methods and times of vaccination during 4 weeks of age. A total of 372 day-old chickens were divided into 4 groups of 93 birds each. Each of 3 groups was received a commercially available B$_1$live vaccine via drinking water, eye instillation or spray method at one, 14 and 28 days of age. One group was used as an unvaccinated control. At two and 4 weeks after each time of vaccination, 15 birds from each group were collected randomly out and challenged with virulent ND virus at the dose of $10^5E1D_{50}$ per bird. Ten to 15 birds from each group were bled at two weeks intervals from day old to 8 weeks of age for hemagglutination inhibition antibody titer, The protection rate was generally low regardless of the times of vaccination although two or more times vaccination gave higher protection than once vaccination. The low protection was considered due to low titer of the vaccine used since the vaccine titer was less than $10^{3.5}EID_{50}$ per bird. Spray method gave better protection compared to eye instillation or drinking water method which resulted in lowest response. Majority of birds showed clinical signs of ND between 3 and 6 days after challenge. Death occured one or two days after onset of symptoms. Major clinical signs observed were depression(94%), anorexia(84%), diarrhoea(29%), difficult breath(15%) and torticollis(10%). Hemorrhagic lesions on post mortem were seen in duodenum(51%), trachea(35%), illeum(13%), ceacal tonsil(11%), proventriculus(10%) and some other odrgans.

Radiation exposure to the eyes and thyroid during C-arm fluoroscopy-guided cervical epidural injections is far below the safety limit

  • Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate radiation exposure to the eye and thyroid in pain physicians during the fluoroscopy-guided cervical epidural block (CEB). Methods: Two pain physicians (a fellow and a professor) who regularly performed C-arm fluoroscopy-guided CEBs were included. Seven dosimeters were used to measure radiation exposure, five of which were placed on the physician (forehead, inside and outside of the thyroid protector, and inside and outside of the lead apron) and two were used as controls. Patient age, sex, height, and weight were noted, as were radiation exposure time, absorbed radiation dose, and distance from the X-ray field center to the physician. Results: One hundred CEB procedures using C-arm fluoroscopy were performed on comparable patients. Only the distance from the X-ray field center to the physician was significantly different between the two physicians (fellow: 37.5 ± 2.1 cm, professor: 41.2 ± 3.6 cm, P = 0.03). The use of lead-based protection effectively decreased the absorbed radiation dose by up to 35%. Conclusions: Although there was no difference in radiation exposure between the professor and the fellow, there was a difference in the distance from the X-ray field during the CEBs. Further, radiation exposure can be minimized if proper protection (thyroid protector, leaded apron, and eyewear) is used, even if the distance between the X-ray beam and the pain physician is small. Damage from frequent, low-dose radiation exposure is not yet fully understood. Therefore, safety measures, including lead-based protection, should always be enforced.

고투과성 및 자정기능을 가지는 태양전지 보호필름의 제작 (Fabrication of High-transparent and Self-cleaning Solar Cell Protection Film)

  • 화석연료의 고갈과 온실가스 배출의 증가로 지속 가능한 친환경 에너지 생산이 요구되는 가운데, 태양광 발전은 이러한 조건을 만족시키는 에너지 생산 방안으로 주목받고 있다. 태양광 발전은 태양 직사광을 이용한 발전 방법 때문에 실외에 설치되어야 하며 이에 따라 외부의 충격이나 오염물질로부터 태양전지 패널을 보호하기 위한 보호층이 필수적이다. 그러나 보호층에 의한 입사광의 반사 및 먼지나 황사에 의한 보호층의 오염 등은 태양전지의 발전 효율을 감소시키는 요인으로 작용하여 이에 대한 대응이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 PET 필름에 나노 임프린트 리소그래피 및 핫 엠보싱 공정을 이용하여 moth-eye 반사방지 패턴을 형성함으로써 보호층에서의 입사광 반사를 억제하였다. 또한, 이러한 반사방지 패턴에 초소수성 자기조립단분자막을 코팅하여 표면 에너지를 낮춤으로써 먼지 및 황사에 의해 오염되었을 경우에도 빗물에 의해 오염 물질이 쉽게 씻겨 내릴 수 있는 자정기능을 부여하였다. 이러한 반사방지를 통한 입사광 투과량의 향상 및 초소수성 표면에 의한 자정작용에 의하여 태양전지의 발전 효율이 증가되었다.

여대생의 메이크업에 대한 행동 및 의식 조사연구 - 대전.충남지역을 중심으로 - (A Study on University Woman's Behavior & Consciousness for Her Make-up - Focused on Daejeon.Chungnam Region -)

  • This research has the purpose to examine the images sought for, makeup Consciousness, and behavioral aspects during makeup by the college girls in their 20s in the region of Daeieon and Chungnam that have strong interest in appearance and start color makeup in full scale, who form the main consumer layers in cosmetics market, and to analyze their preference on colors and feelings by the kinds of cosmetics, and their cosmetics purchase behavior. A questionnaire survey on the college girls in Daejeon and Chungnam region has shown the following results. The biggest reason college girls do the makeup was for a refined and pure image as well as protection of skin and covering defects. Their greatest concern was skin protection, and as for color selection, harmonizations of skin color and hair color were the largest consideration. In addition, the type of makeup they do most was foundation makeup, while pink was the most frequent lipstick color, and lip glow was mostly normal colors. However, they mostly answered that they do not use eye shadow, eye runner, and foundation. It was shown that their cosmetics purchase p]aces were specialized discount stores for about 47% nearly half of them, and they consider colors the most for lipsticks and eye shadows, and affinity to skin for foundations and basic cosmetics.
