양안시에서 편광렌즈의 영향 (Effect of the Polaroid Lens in Binocular Vision)

  • 본 연구는 편광렌즈, CR 39 그리고 선글라스를 이용해서 시력검사, 입체시 검사, 그리고 시유발 전위검사에 의해서 양안시에 대한 편광렌즈의 영향을 비교하였다. 편광렌즈, CR 39 그리고 선글라스의 광흡수도는 분광분석기(Hitachi, U-3501)를 사용해서 측정하였다. 시유 발 전위는 Nicolet 장비로서 기록하였다. 성인 30명(남성 15명, 여성 15명, 평균 2.19세, 범위 20세에서 25세)의 피검자를 기록하였다. 피검자는 다음과 같은 문진을 입증하였다. 즉 전신건강, 가족 건강, 약물복용, 성, 알레르기, 그리고 질병이다. 모든 피검자는 정상이거나 또는 시 장애의 문진이 없는 정상시력으로서 교정된 상태를 가지고 있었다. 교정시력, 색각, 그리고 입체시는 각 피검자에게 단안과 양안에 각각 기록하였다. 테스트는 선글라스, CR 39 그리고 편광렌즈로서 반복 검사를 하였다. 피검자는 시유발 전위의 기록을 하는 동안 테스트렌즈를 통해서 단안과 양안 모두 시유발 자극을 보았다. 결과는 양안 시력과 입체시력은 단안시 보다는 좋은 것을 제시하고 있다. 한편 시유발의 분석에서 파의 진폭은 단안으로 시유발 전위 자극을 받은 것은 양안이 선글라스, CR 39 그리고 편광렌즈로서 시유발 전위 표적의 자극을 받은 것과 비교했을 때는 적게 나타났다. 그러나 각 눈의 잔여기는 CR 39, 선글라스, 그리고 편광렌즈로서 우성 눈과 비우성 눈 사이는 비슷한 결과를 가졌다. 결론적으로 본 연구는 양안시력은 다른 테스트렌즈들 보다는 브라운 편광렌즈를 통한 것이 가장 좋은 양안시력을 제시함을 암시하고 있다.

정상 대학생의 눈 굴절이상, 안축장, 전방깊이, 수정체두께 그리고 각막두께의 연관성 (Correlation of Refractive Error, Axial Length, Chamber Depth, Lens Thickness and Corneal Thickness of Normal University Students)

  • 목적: 안구크기의 생체 측정값과 눈 굴절이상 정도에 따른 상호 연관성을 비교 조사하고자 하였다. 방법: 평균연령이 22.85${\pm}$3.12세의 정상 대학생 68명(남 36, 여 32)을 대상으로 초음파(A-scan)를 이용하여 측정과 시력측정을 하였고, 그 결과를 SPSS 12.0 version을 이용해 통계학적 유의성을 조사하였다. 결과: 측정한 평균값은 안축장 24.31${\pm}$1.24 mm, 전방깊이 3.48${\pm}$0.28 mm, 렌즈두께 3.56${\pm}$0.26 mm 그리고 각막두께 0.55${\pm}$0.03 mm 이었다. 측정값의 안축장과 전방깊이는 남자가 크지만 렌즈두께는 여자가 두껍게 조사되었다. 렌즈두께는 굴절이상 적을수록 두꺼웠지만, 각막두께는 남, 여 모두 같았다. 좌 우안의 측정값은 차이가 없었으며 T-test 결과도 연관성이 없었다. 측정치의 Pearson Chi-Square 검정 결과는 안축장과 전방깊이, 안축장과 렌즈두께, 전방깊이와 렌즈두께 그리고 굴절이상과 렌즈두께는 p<0.01 수준에서 유의한 상관관계가 있었다. 굴절이상과 안축장은 선형회귀분석 검정결과 음(-) 선형관계를 나타내었다(r=-0.56). 결론: 눈 굴절이상은 안축장, 전방깊이, 렌즈두께에 의해 결정되지만, 좌 우안이나 성별의 차이와는 관계가 없었다.

안질환세균에 대한 도꼬마리 추출물의 항균 활성 (Antibacterial Activity of Xanthium strumarium L. Extract Against Bacteria Causing Eye Disease)

  • 목적: 이 논문은 안질환세균에 대한 도꼬마리 추출물의 항균활성을 알아보아 콘택트렌즈 관리용액에 첨가되어 있는 합성보존제를 대체할 천연 보존제로서의 가능성을 제시하기 위함이다. 방법: 안질환세균에 대한 도꼬마리 추출물의 항균활성은 한천 확산법(agar diffusion test)으로 측정했으며, 항균활성은 종이원반(paper disc) 주위의 선명지대(clear zone)의 생성유무와 선명지대(clear zone)의 크기(mm)로서 알아보았다. 실험에 사용한 세균은 포도상구균 (Staphylococcus)과 녹농균(Pseudomonas)이었다. 결과: Staphylococcus aureus KCCM 40050에 대한 도꼬마리 추출 물 $1000{\mu}g/20{\mu}l$농도의 선명지대는 11.5 mm로 나타났다. 또한 Pseudomonas aeruginosa KCCM 11803 균주에 대한 도꼬마리 추출물 $1000{\mu}g/20{\mu}l$농도의 선명지대는 9.0 mm, Pseudomonas fluorescens KCCM 40223 균주에 대해서는 7.0 mm로 나타났다. 결론: 이 실험을 통해 안질환세균에 대한 도꼬마리 추출물의 항균활성이 입증되었다. 따라서 도꼬마리 추출물이 콘택트렌즈 관리용액에 첨가될 천연 보존제로서의 가치가 충분히 있다고 판단되어진다.

20세부터 29세까지 한국인 성인 난시 분석 (Analysis of Astigmatism in Korean Adults from 20 to 29 Yesrs Old)

  • Purpose. To analysis of astigmatism in Korean adults from 20 to 29 years old. Methods. From January 2019 to February 2020, one hundred two subjects were performed in refraction test using the Auto-Refractometry. Results. In the type of astigmatism based on refractive error, the male's right eye was 4.26% simple myopic astigmatism and 95.74% complex myopic astigmatism, and the left eye was 2.22% simple myopic astigmatism and 97.78% complex myopic astigmatism. However, in the female's right eye, simple myopic astigmatism was 2.27%, complex myopic astigmatism was 97.73%, and left eye was simple myopic astigmatism was 2.17%, complex myopic astigmatism was 97.83%. The types of astigmatism in men and women similar to other. The mean refractive astigmatism values were -0.922±-0.798 diopter and -0.877±-0.707 diopter for male right and left eye, and -0.765±-0.599 diopter and -0.853±-0.586 diopter for female. On the other hand, the refraction values of the right and left eyes of men and women have statistical significance(p=0.000). The mean power comparative between refractive astigmatism and corneal astigmatism power were -0.186±-0.745 diopter, -1.091±-0.589 diopter in male and -1.140±-0.593 diopter, -1.140±-0.534 diopter in female. Therefore, the mean power values of the refractive astigmatism and corneal astigmatism of men and women were statistical significance(p=0.000). At the 0.75 diopter or more, which can have clinical symptoms of astigmatism power, males have 60.86% and 72.09% of the right and left eyes, and females have 47,64% and 60.10% of the right and left eyes. At 0.75 diopter or more, which can have clinical symptoms of corneal astigmatism power, males have 68.75% and 74% of the right and left eyes, and females have 86.50% and 82.35% of the right and left eyes. In the type of astigmatism axis, both men and women had a high frequency of the rule astigmatism. However, men had a high frequency of against-the-rule astigmatism and women showed a high frequency of oblique astigmatism. Conclusions. In this study, the complex myopic astigmatism and with-the rule astigmatism was the most common of all subjects. However, there was a statistical significance between right and left eyes of all subjects. The corneal astigmatism was higher refractive values in both males and females than refractive astigmatism. This study suggests that the analysis of the astigmatism can provide the useful diagnosis information for the correction of visual acuity.

학령기 아동의 시력저하 실태 및 관련 요인 (Factors Related to Vision Disturbances in the Elementary School-Age Children)

  • The vision disturbances of school-age children has been recognized as and important school health problem. The purpose of this study is to describe the current status of the visual health and to explore the related factors for the decrease in visual acuity in the elementary school age children. The study subjects were 697 children (Boys: 338, Girls: 359) of 4th to 6th grade in two school in urban area. The visual acuity data of the school health examination in 1999 and 2000 were utilized for analysis. The questionnaire for children and parents was used for survey. The findings were as follows. 1. The prevalance rate of the children with the visual acuity less than 0.7 on the left eye were 26.84% ( Grade 4), 31.30% (Grade 5), and 38.39% (Grade 6). The rate on the right eye were 28.31% (Grade4), 30.37% (Grade 5), and 37.92% (Grade 6). There was a significant difference in the rate of the visual acuity less than 0.7 according to grade (p<.01). 2.The rate of visual acuity decrease was 40.12%. 3. The factors related to the decrease in the visual acuity were grade, sex, genetic factor, posture, and the awareness of the visual acuity. There was more decrease in the visual acuity when the children were in higher grade (O.R= 1.06), girls (O.R=2.29). Children having parents with better vision (Father: O.R=1.26; Mother O.R= 1.25) showed better vision. On the other hand, when the children have siblings with glasses, there was more decrease in the visual acuity (O.R=2.31). Students with good posture during study (sitting on the chair) and watching TV to the lower direction showed less decrease in the visual acuity. Also, when the students know their visual acuity, the rate of decrease were lower. The variables which odds ratio were statistically significant were sex (p<.01), siblings with glasses (p <.01), and awareness of visual acuity (p<.01).

Radiation Dose Distribution of a Surgeon and Medical Staff during Orthopedic Balloon Kyphoplasty in Japan

  • Background: The present study investigated the radiation dose distribution of balloon kyphoplasty (BKP) among surgeons and medical staff, and this is the first research to observe such exposure in Japan. Materials and Methods: The study subjects were an orthopedic surgeon (n = 1) and surgical staff (n = 9) who intervened in BKP surgery performed at the National Hospital Organization Disaster Medical Center (Tokyo, Japan) between March 2019 and October 2019. Only disposable protective gloves (0.022 mmPb equivalent thickness or less) and trunk protectors were used, and no protective glasses or thyroid drapes were used. Results and Discussion: The surgery time per vertebral body was 36.2 minutes, and the fluoroscopic time was 6.8 minutes. The average exposure dose per vertebral body was 1.46 mSv for the finger (70 ㎛ dose equivalent), 0.24 mSv for the lens of the eye (3 mm dose equivalent), 0.11 mSv for the neck (10 mm dose equivalent), and 0.03 mSv for the chest (10 mm dose equivalent) under the protective suit.The estimated cumulative radiation exposure dose of 23 cases of BKP was calculated to be 50.37 mSv for the fingers, 8.27 mSv for the lens, 3.91 mSv for the neck, and 1.15 mSv for the chest. Conclusion: It is important to know the exposure dose of orthopedic surgeons, implement measures for exposure reduction, and verify the safety of daily use of radiation during surgery and examination.

  • 한국산 벌파리매아과(亞科)에 속하는 2속(屬) 2종(種)(뚱보파리매(Choerades isshikii (Matsumura), 빨간뒤영벌파리매(Laphria rufa R$\ddot{o}$der))의 복안표면 미세구조를 형태학적으로 연구하였다. 채집된 건조표본의 복안을 주사전자현미경과 화상분석시스템을 이용하여 관찰 및 촬영, 측정하였다. 2속(屬) 2종(種)에서 공통적으로 복안의 개안표면직경은 부분에 따라 큰 차이를 보였으며 이에 따라 내측과 중간부, 외측이 구분되었다. 복안의 내측과 중간부의 개안표면에서는 특정적인 미세구조가 관찰되었으며 2속(屬)에서 형태적 차이를 보여 속(屬) 수준의 분류에 유용하였다.

Whether can Posner-Schlossman syndrome be treated through a physiotherapy, ciliary muscle training method?

  • A new physiotherapy named Ciliary Muscle Training method and one successful case had been reported first for treatment of Posner-Schlossman Syndrome (PSS), also known as Glaucomatocyclitic Crisis. When a person observed a back and forth moving object, the ciliary muscle would involuntarily do sometimes tense and sometimes relaxant exercise which can relieve the tensive state of the ciliary muscle of patients suffering PSS disease. Through this period of continued treatment, this ciliary muscle training method can improve the health status of the ciliary muscle and finally achieve the purpose of curing PSS disease. In this successful case, the patient's feedback result was very good after receiving our suggested ciliary muscle training method as an attempt to treat PSS, ill right eye of this PSS patient showed normal appearance without any differences from the other normal eye, his vision test values of naked eye were both 4.9 under nearly 200 degrees of myopia. High intraocular pressure (IOP) was mitigated, measured IOP value was in the normal (≦ 21 mmHg) and comfortable state without PSS relapse until now. Therefore, ciliary muscle training method could be a potential clinical treatment approach to PSS disease.

편마비환자의 안정성한계에 대한 연구 (A Study of the Limits of Stability in Hemiplegic Patients)

  • The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the Limits of stability(LOS) in hemiplegic patients who can walking independently. The LOS was measured at stable surface, unstable surface with eye open and eye closed. In this study, 18 out-patients were evaluated who were treated at Yonsei University Medical Center Rehabilitation Hospital. In order to determine the statistical significance of results, T-test, paired t-test, and Kruskal-Wallis 1-way ANOVA were applied at 0.05 level of significance. The results were as follows: 1. The mean of lateral limits of stability was 9.89 degree. 2. The mean of anteroposterior limits of stability was 6.43 degree. 3. There was a significant difference of limits of stability between sound side and affected side(p<0.05). 4. The limits of stability was significantly decreased with eye closed(p<0.05) 5. The limits of stability was significantly decreased at unstable surface(p<0.05). 6. The limits of stability was a significant difference as spasticity degree of ankle plantar flexors(p<0.05). These results showed that the limits of stability in hemiplegic patients was more decreased than that of normal adult. In order to improve the balance in hemiplegic patients, we need to increase the limits of stability.

대비감도함수와 변조전달함수를 이용한 시기능 예측 (Prediction of visual performance using contrast sensitivity function and modulation transfer function)

  • 본 논문에서 연구된 정밀모형안은 정시안에서 1.2 시력의 적정한 수차를 가진 모형안임을 확인하였다. 망막의 특성을 생략한 안광학계에 광전달함수를 사용하여 망막에서의 광세기 분포를 조사하여 자각식으로 측정한 임상자료와 비교하였다. 망막의 광학적 특성을 나타내는 안구의 수차, 회절, 망막 대비감도, Stiles-Crawford 효과, 동공크기를 포함한 대비감도함수를 계산하였다. 모형안에 동공직경 1 mm와 8 mm의 범위에서 정시안과 비정시안에 대해 대비감도함수와 변조전달함수를 비교하여 시력을 예측하였다.
