This study explored how intrinsic and extrinsic motivation relates to achieving creativity at project work. We were interested in differences in how motivational factors relate to creativity. Using data from the 98 engineers and researchers employed by a variety of companies, principal components factor analysis with marimax rotation was performed on the data. We examined effects of the moderate variables the intrinsic and extrinsic motivation and creativity relationship. The results indicate of positive mental involvement, the time and the resource constraints relates positively to creativity in organizations and that the relationship is a simple linear one. These outcomes are significantly related to intrinsic motivation and the creativity. In additions, extrinsic motivation is related to less the creativity. Our survey findings are also consistent with other sources of knowledge on the topic. Our results suggest that there are two different role: mental involvement, time and resources constraints, both of which predict creativity, and external control and extrinsic motivations reduce to creativity.
According to traditional theories of information systems, one of the reasons for using information technology is that users believe it to be helpful or useful for what they want to do, which is called extrinsic motivation. However, in addition to extrinsic motivation, there are other reasons for using it such as enjoying or playing with information technology itself, called intrinsic motivation, and just others around users, called social influence. The objective of this study is to provide a research model for using information technology considering intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, and social influence. For validation of this model, we survey the users of 'Minihompy' since it is one of the most popular blog services in Korea and there are relatively clear extrinsic and intrinsic motivation, and social influence respectively in using it. By analysing 549 valid samples by Partial Least Square(PLS), we show the suggested research model to be a valid one. That is, all hypotheses we suggested turn out to be statistically significant and $R^2$ of the dependent variable, the intention of use, explaining by the model to be higher than 40%. In addition to validation of the research model, it is found that intrinsic motivation may be more important than extrinsic motivation and social influence in using information technology.
In this paper, we propose an extrinsic calibration method for a multi-view camera to get an optimal pose in 3D space. Conventional calibration algorithms do not guarantee the calibration accuracy at a mid/long distance because pixel errors increase as the distance between camera and pattern goes far. To compensate for the calibration errors, firstly, we apply the Tsai's algorithm to each lens so that we obtain initial extrinsic parameters Then, we estimate extrinsic parameters by using distance vectors obtained from structural cues of a multi-view camera. After we get the estimated extrinsic parameters of each lens, we carry out a non-linear optimization using the relationship between camera coordinate and world coordinate iteratively. The optimal camera parameters can be used in generating 3D panoramic virtual environment and supporting AR applications.

This paper proposes a robust lane detection algorithm for bumpy or slope changing roads by estimating extrinsic camera parameters, which represent the pose of the camera mounted on the car. The proposed algorithm assumes that two lanes are parallel with the predefined width. The lane detection and the extrinsic camera parameter estimation are performed simultaneously by utilizing B-snake in motion compensated and merged feature map with consecutive sequences. The experimental results show the robustness of the proposed algorithm in various road environments. Furthermore, the accuracy of extrinsic camera parameter estimation is evaluated by calculating the distance to a preceding car with the estimated parameters and comparing to the radar-measured distance.

The performance of turbo code is improved by updating extrinsic information. The bit patterns are categorized by the transition characteristics of extrinsic information in this paper. And the distribution of these patterns is surveyed according to signal-to-noise ratio. Based on the results, the dominant error pattern is determined at high signal-to-noise ratio range. Thus, it is expected to improve the error performance in the error floor region by correcting the dominant error pattern which is found in this paper.

In this paper we propose a high-performance Hybrid ARQ scheme employing Chase combining based on LDPC (Low-Density Parity-Check) codes. The proposed scheme uses symbol mapping diversity and turbo demodulation to improve decoding performance. We analyze the performance of the proposed scheme by EXIT (EXtrinsic Information Transfer) chart and compare its performance with several symbol mappings.
This paper proposes a multimodal generalized Gaussian distribution (MGGD) to effectively model the varying statistical properties of the extrinsic information. A subsidiary maximum likelihood decoding (MLD) algorithm is subsequently developed to dynamically select the most suitable MGGD parameters to be used in the component maximum a posteriori (MAP) decoders at each decoding iteration to derive the more reliable metrics performance enhancement. Simulation results show that, for a wide range of block lengths, the proposed approach can enhance the overall turbo decoding performance for both parallel and serially concatenated codes in additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN), Rician, and Rayleigh fading channels.

Acquiring indoor point cloud, using SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) based mobile mapping system, is an element progress for development of as-build BIM (Building Information Model) for the maintenance of the building. In this research we proposed a simulation-based target geometry determination for extrinsic calibration of multiple 2D laser scanning mobile system. Four different types of calibration sites were designed: (1) circle type; (2) rectangle type; (3) double circle type; and (4) double rectangle type. Based on the measurement values obtained from each simulated calibration site geometry, least squares solution based extrinsic calibration was derived. As a result, the rectangle type geometry is most suitable for extrinsic calibration of this system. Also, correlation values between extrinsic calibration parameters were high, and calibration results were distinct according to the calibration sites.

In the rapidly advancing landscape of computer vision (CV) technology, there is a burgeoning interest in its integration with the construction industry. Camera calibration is the process of deriving intrinsic and extrinsic parameters that affect when the coordinates of the 3D real world are projected onto the 2D plane, where the intrinsic parameters are internal factors of the camera, and extrinsic parameters are external factors such as the position and rotation of the camera. Camera pose estimation or extrinsic calibration, which estimates extrinsic parameters, is essential information for CV application at construction since it can be used for indoor navigation of construction robots and field monitoring by restoring depth information. Traditionally, camera pose estimation methods for cameras relied on target objects such as markers or patterns. However, these methods, which are marker- or pattern-based, are often time-consuming due to the requirement of installing a target object for estimation. As a solution to this challenge, this study introduces a novel framework that facilitates camera pose estimation using standardized materials found commonly in construction sites, such as concrete forms. The proposed framework obtains 3D real-world coordinates by referring to construction materials with certain specifications, extracts the 2D coordinates of the corresponding image plane through keypoint detection, and derives the camera's coordinate through the perspective-n-point (PnP) method which derives the extrinsic parameters by matching 3D and 2D coordinate pairs. This framework presents a substantial advancement as it streamlines the extrinsic calibration process, thereby potentially enhancing the efficiency of CV technology application and data collection at construction sites. This approach holds promise for expediting and optimizing various construction-related tasks by automating and simplifying the calibration procedure.

This study examined the intrinsic and extrinsic motivational factors affecting the intention to contribute knowledge to online communities. It examined enjoyment, knowledge self-efficacy, and commitment as the intrinsic motivational factors, and anticipated reciprocity, image, and subjective norm as the extrinsic motivational factors. The results showed that intrinsic motivational factors, enjoyment and knowledge self-efficacy were found to have significant influences on attitudes towards knowledge contribution to online communities, but commitment was not. Of the extrinsic motivational factors, anticipated reciprocity was found to have a significant influence on attitudes toward knowledge contribution to online communities, but image and subjective norm were not.
