Improved Algorithm for Fully-automated Neural Spike Sorting based on Projection Pursuit and Gaussian Mixture Model

  • For the analysis of multiunit extracellular neural signals as multiple spike trains, neural spike sorting is essential. Existing algorithms for the spike sorting have been unsatisfactory when the signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) is low, especially for implementation of fully-automated systems. We present a novel method that shows satisfactory performance even under low SNR, and compare its performance with a recent method based on principal component analysis(PCA) and fuzzy c-means(FCM) clustering algorithm. Our system consists of a spike detector that shows high performance under low SNR, a feature extractor that utilizes projection pursuit based on negentropy maximization, and an unsupervised classifier based on Gaussian mixture model. It is shown that the proposed feature extractor gives better performance compared to the PCA, and the proposed combination of spike detector, feature extraction, and unsupervised classification yields much better performance than the PCA-FCM, in that the realization of fully-automated unsupervised spike sorting becomes more feasible.

  • 인터넷의 확장과 함께 더 나은 보안 도구가 요구되고 있다. 최근 몇 년간 많은 기업에서 보안 전문가를 위한 제품을 출시했다. 그러나 새로운 도구가 나올 때 마다 새로운 위협이 발생했다. 이와 함께 새로운 개념의 보안 시스템이 필요하게 되었다. 인터넷 위협관리 시스템은 실시간으로 보안 경보를 중앙서버에서 수집하고 분석하여 실시간 분석, 경보 및 대응을 하는 시스템이다. 인터넷 위협 관리 시스템은 보안 관리자에게 전체 시스템들 간에 무슨 일이 일어났는지를 한눈에 볼 수 있게 해준다. 결과적으로 보안제품과 시스템을 감시하는데 투자되는 시간이 그만큼 줄여준다.

  • Apartment auction is a system that is used for the citizens to get a house. This paper deals with the implementation of a web-based intelligent decision support system using OLAP technique and data mining technique for auction decision support. The implemented decision support system is working on a real auction database and is mainly composed of OLAP Knowledge Extractor based on data warehouse and Auction Data Miner based on data mining methodology. OLAP Knowledge Extractor extracts required knowledge and visualizes it from auction database. The OLAP technique uses fact, dimension, and hierarchies to provide the result of data analysis by menas of roll-up, drill-down, slicing, dicing, and pivoting. Auction Data Miner predicts a successful bid price by means of applying classification to auction database. The Miner is based on the lazy model-based classification algorithm and applies the concepts such as decision fields, dynamic domain information, and field weighted function to this algorithm and applies the concepts such as decision fields, dynamic domain information, and field weighted function to this algorithm to reflect the characteristics of auction database.

  • Recently Lee et al. proposed an improved symmetric key-based remote user authentication scheme to eliminate the security weaknesses of Kumari et al.'s scheme. They hence claimed that their scheme is secure to various well-known attacks. However, we found that Lee et al.'s scheme is still insecure against outsider attack, smart card stolen and off-line password guessing attack. To overcome these security vulnerabilities, we propose an enhanced authentication scheme with key-agreement which is based on the fuzzy-extractor. Furthermore, we prove that the proposed scheme is more secure, and that it serves to gratify all of the required security properties. Finally, we compare the performance and functionality of the proposed scheme with those of previous schemes.

  • 최근 생체인식 서비스가 지속적으로 보급되고 있으나 그에 대한 보안의 문제에 대해서는 개선되고 있지 않는 상황이다. 본 논문에서는 생체인식 보안에 대해서 개선방안을 제안하고자 한다. 무아레 생체 인증의 보안성을 개선하기 위하여 퍼지 추출기를 이용해 무아레 생체 인증의 보안성을 효율적으로 개선하고, 기존에 있던 무아레 생체 인증 보안성과 퍼지 추출기를 이용한 무아레 생체 인증의 보안을 비교하는 방향을 제시한다.

  • This study introduces a robust feature detector for sonar data from a general fixed-type of sonar ring. The detector is composed of a data association filter and a feature extractor. The data association filter removes false returns provided frequently from sonar sensors, and classifies set of data from various objects and robot positions into a group in which all the data are from the same object. The feature extractor calculates the geometries of the feature for the group. We show the possibility of extracting circle feature as well as a line and a point features. The proposed method was applied to a real home environment with a real robot.

  • Vision-based systems for finding road lanes have to operate robustly under a wide variety of environ-mental conditions including large amount of scene clutters. This paper presents a method for finding the lane boundaries by combining a local line extraction method and dynamic programming as a search tool. The line extractor obtains an initial position estimation of road lane boundaries from the noisy edge fragments.   • This paper describes the design and implementation of a real-time, high-precision vision system and its application to SMT(surface mounting technology) automation. The vision system employs a 32 bit MC68030 as a main processor, and consists of image acquisition unit. DSP56001 DSP based vision processor, and several algorithmically dedicated hardware modules. The image acquisition unit provides 512*480*8 bit image for high-precision vision tasks. The DSP vision processor and hardware modules, such as histogram extractor and feature extractor, are designed for a real-time excution of vision algorithms. Especially, the implementation of multi-processing architecture based on DSP vision processors allows us to employ more sophisticated and flexible vision algorithms for real-time operation. The developed vision system is combined with an Adept Robot system to form a complete SMD system. It has been found that the vision guided SMD assembly system is able to provide a satisfactory performance for SND automation.

  • Finite element scheme to analyze the vibration characteristics of the axisymmetric rotor system is developed. The rotor system of a large washer-extractor is analyzed as an example. Natural frequency obtained by FEM is in good agreement with experimental one by impact test. Also, parametric studies using FEM code developed are carried out for the investigation of the effects of the radii of the axis and the cylinder on the stiffness and the critical speed of the system. Larger radius of the axis makes the system stiffer and increases the critical speed at which the unbalance response has its maximum value. Whereas, the stiffness and the critical speed decrease at first and then increase as the radius of the cylinder increases.

  • This paper describes pattern classification algorithm of ECG using back-propagation neural network. We presents new feature extractor using second order approximating function as the input signals of neural network. We use 9 significant parameters which were extracted by feature extractor. 5 most characterized ECG signal pattern is classified accurately by neural network. We use AHA database to evaluate the performance ol the proposed pattern classification algorithm.
