Numerous PSC bridges are stregthened by the combined use of continuity of simple spans and addition of external prestressing. In this case prestressing sequences should be carefully checked due to the effect on the stress and camber of girders and slab. Various prestressing sequences were applied in this field test and measured values were analysed. This results show that preatressing sequences affact the stress and deflection of bridge members, so the prestressing sequence should be considered at the desist and construction stages of deteriorated bridges.
The purpose of this study was to analyze how the stability of the implant prostheses and the loosening of the fastening screw was affected when the various types of Hex structure provided for the effect of anti-rotation of the single prostheses were given. Three dimensional finite element model was designed with which the implants with the external hex type of 0.75mm, 1.5mm and the implant with the internal hex type of 0.75mm, 1.5mm and the implant with the external hex type of $15^{\circ}$ tapered shape of 0.75mm were supposed to completely osseointegrate to the mandible. After fininshing the finite element model, the preload of 10N at the fastening screw was applied and then the vertical and $30^{\circ}$ lateral load of 200N was applied respectively at the cusp tips of the prostheses. The following results were obtained : 1. In case of displacement, the amount of displacement was increased at the internal hex type(model C, D) than at the external hex type(model A, B, E) when the vertical and lateral load was applied. 2. Less equivalent stress was represented at the model B with increased external hex height than at the model A when the vertical and lateral load was applied. 3. Much stress was represented at the model E with increased hex angle than at the model A in case of the stress happened to the implant body and the fastening screw when the vertical and lateral load was applied. 4. Much equivalent stress was represented at the model D with deepened internal hex height than at the model C when vertical and lateral load was applied. 5. The least stress was taken at the model B and the most stress was taken at the model D in case of the stress happened to the implant when the vertical and lateral load was applied. 6. The least stress was taken at the model C at the vertical load. And the least stress was taken at the model B at lateral load in case of the stress happened to the fastening screw. As a results of this study, the good lateral stability of prostheses and less stress of the component of implant was taken when the external hex height was increased, and the risk of neck fracture of implant and fastening screw was increased when the internal hex height was deepned because of long screw neck portion and thin implant neck portion.
In the field of welding the behavior of a welded structure under consideration may be predicted via heat transfer and residual stress analysis. In order to facilitate the industrial applications of welding, numerical modeling of heat transfer and residual stress in weldment has been carried out applying Finite Element Method (FEM) and the analysis with the external load including this residual stress due to welding has been done. The present work includes the specialized finite element codes for the calculation of nonlinear heat transfer details and residual stress redistributed along with the external load in the welded structures. A basic interface, which allows models, built in commercial preprocessing package access to the data necessary to build standard input decks for these specialized FEM codes, which are not supported by commercial package. The results from the FEM codes are imported back into commercial package for visualization. In addition the residual stress values are exported to commercial package (such as ANSYS, PATRAN etc.) for further analysis with the external loads, which make the FEM codes fully applicable to the industrial purpose.

The equipment or with a constant torque and a variable stress due to axial vibration such as the turbine-generator system in nuclear power plant show the fatigue fracture behavior. Thus this study whoul aim to measure the torsional stress and analyze the fatigue fracture behavior. To achieve this, we manufactured the equipment similar with turbine-generator system and applied various torsional vibration stress due to external load. In particular, the evaluation was conducted with the existing evaluation methods of the fatigue behavior of known stress-life, strain-life, crack growth assessment methods. With increasing the external load and independent methods tends to decrease the fatigue life was confirmed up to 10 times in 5 kV external load compared to without external load.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of internal-external control, difficulties in emotion regulation, and clinical practice stress among college nursing students. The study was conducted, based on a sample of 220 students at one college and the data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient and stepwise regression analysis. As a result of correlation analysis, there were significant positive correlation in difficulty of emotion regulation score and clinical practice stress score according to external control score. Factors affecting on clinical practice stress were locus of control, difficulties in emotion regulation, college satisfaction, grade, and religion having explanation rate of 17%. Therefore, to decrease clinical stress among nursing students, Nursing students should be considered the emotion regulation with external control disposition. The results can contribute as a basic data in developing education strategies and clinical adjustment programs for regulating clinical stress with emotion management and adaptation on clinical environment.

The sub-surface stress field beneath the spur gear's contact surface in lubricated condition has been analysed. The surface pressure was obtained by the elasto-hydrodynamic lubrication analysis using the accurate geometric clearances around the contact region of the teeth. The sub-surface stress field was calculated by using the Love's rectangular patch solution. The analysis results show that the sub-surface stress distribution is quite dependent on the surface pressure distribution. The pattern of sub-surface stress field is similar to that of the external load. The depth where the maximum effective stress occurs is not proportional to the intensity of the external load.
The effects of external restraint on the thermal stresses i n mass concrete are
investigated through a series of parametric study. Two major factors affecting the degree
of external restraint such as the ratio of length to height of the placed structure (L/H)
and the elastic modulus of base structure ($E_r$) are employed as the parameters in a
condition which a placing height H is 1.0m. Various conditions of I,/H and E, are
analysed by a FEM program and the relationship between these two parameters is
examined.
The shape of stress distribution due to the external restraint is shown as linearity on
the height direction of the section, and is influenced by L/H, $E_r$, and strength
development of placed concrete.
The external restraint can be devided by two part. One is an axial restraint and the
other is a flexural restraint. When the level of external restraint is low, the structure
behavior is mainly governed by flexural restraint, otherwise it is dependent on axial
restraint. Comparing the calculated stress by the method of the ACI 207 committee with
a finite element analysis, the fbrmer overestimates the external restraint stress when
the degree of external restraint is weak, and underestimates when it is strong.
This study investigated effect of arm posture, repetition of wrist motion and external load on perceived discomfort. The arm postures were controlled by shoulder flexion, elbow flexion, and ist motions such as flexion, extension, radial deviation and ulnar deviation. An experiment was conducted to measure discomfort scores for experimental treatments using the magnitude estimation, in which the L16 orthogonal array was adopted for reducing the size of experiment. The results showed that while the effect of the shoulder flexion, repetition of wrist motion and external load was statistically significant at $\alpha=0.05$or 0.10, that of the elbow and wrist motions was not. Discomfor ratings increased linearly as levels of wrist repetition and external load increased. This implies that the existing posture classification schemes such as OWAS, RULA, which do not properly consider effect of motion repetition and external load, may underestimate postural load. Based on the regression equation for wrist repetition and external load, isocomfort region indicating the region within which discomfort scores were expected to be the same was proposed. It is recommended that when assessing risk of postures or developing new posture classification schemes, motion repetition and external load as well as posture itself be fully taken into consideration for precisely evaluating postural stress.

A method to apply the approximation formulae[1] for tooth fillet and root stresses of a thin-rimmed rack to the calculation of stress state of thin-rimmed external and internal spur gears is introduced. The stress values by the method proposed in this paper have shown good agreement with those by the REM analysis and also by the stress measurement of strain survey investigation. By this method, reliable stress state at tooth fillet and root areas in the thin-rimmed external and internal spur gears can be easily calculated, and a practical design method for the bending strength of such thin-rimmed gears is established.
In this study, the effects of initial damage of concrete columns on the post-repair performance of reinforced concrete (RC) columns strengthened with carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) composite are investigated experimentally. Four kinds of compression-damaged RC cylinders were reinforced using external CFRP composite wraps, and the stress-strain behavior of the composite/concrete system was investigated. These concrete cylinders were compressed to four pre-damaged states including low -level, medium -level, high -level and total damage states. The percentages of the stress levels of pre-damage were, respectively, 40, 60, 80, and 100% of that of the control RC cylinder. These damaged concrete cylinders simulate bridge piers or building columns subjected to different magnitudes of stress, or at various stages in long-term behavior. Experimental data, as well as a stress-strain model proposed for the behavior of damaged and undamaged concrete strengthened by external CFRP composite sheets are presented. The experimental data shows that external confinement of concrete by CFRP composite wrap significantly improves both compressive strength and ductility of concrete, though the improvement is inversely proportional to the initial degree of damage to the concrete. The failure modes of the composite/damaged concrete systems were examined to evaluate the benefit of this reinforcing methodology. Results predicted by the model showed very good agreement with those of the current experimental program.
