Design analysis and simulation of an external helical gear

  • This study optimized the parameters of the helical gear based on the original external meshing helical gear pump, combined with the analysis of the stability and flow of the basic parameters of the equipment; herringbone gears were used to eliminate the axial force generated by the helical gears. An optimized helical gear rotor was built with NX. The error between the simulation and calculation results of pump displacement was 3.95% and the simulation results were valid. Analysis of the outlet pressure and lift changes (maximum change rates of 0.38% and 0.25%), pressure analysis of the XY center plane at different times in the same cycle (no pressure surge or drop), and analysis of the axial force of the primary and driven rotors (axis The axial force is close to 0) were performed. The results showed that the flow pulsation of the external gear pump was slight, the operation was smooth, vibration and friction were reduced, the wear of bearings and other components could be diminished, and the service life of the equipment was extended. The simulation results showed that the external gear pump met the design requirements.

Pump design parameters can be determined automatically for maximum gear efficiency with constraints considering shaft, bearing, gear and pump. Comparing the design parameters obtained by the program with those of the sample, it was verified that the program could be used as a design tool if it is modified a little.

소형 외접기어펌프를 사용하는 EHA의 시스템 효율 분석 (Investigation of System Efficiency of an Electro-hydrostatic Actuator with an External Gear Pump)

  • In this study, the maximum system efficiency of the electro-hydrostatic actuators was experimentally investigated, where small size external gear pumps with volumetric displacement under 1.3 cc/rev were combined with a 400W servomotor as the prime mover. Since the efficiency data of the servomotor, gear pumps and hydraulic cylinder were not provided by the suppliers, experimental apparatuses for their efficiency measurement were extra built up. When a gear pump with a volumetric displacement of 1.27cc/rev was used on an electro-hydrostatic actuator system, the maximum system efficiency was not higher than 70%. This was because the most effective operation ranges of the motor and pump did not coincide each other. In order to match their operation ranges as one of the most crucial design factors, a speed reduction mechanism can be used, such as a timing belt. It was shown in the study that the maximum system efficiency could be increased from 70% to 76% in that way.

  • The use of external gear pumps is an effective way to achieve adequate performance at low cost when composing hydraulic systems. The biggest drawback, on the other hand, is the accompanying noise. Gears of continuous contact shape are actively used for the pump recently. The continuous contact shape must be the helical type due to the nature of the gear pump that is driven only by the drive gear. In this paper the theoretical shape of continuous contact gear is analyzed using simple rack shape of straight lines and two circular arcs. Using such geometry, the theoretical equation will be developed by envelope curves according to the conjugate gear shape rules. After checking the validity of the theory by the shape of gear rules, the grinding shape was also developed. The 3D shapes using equation can be also drawn. It was also shown that contact ratio and radius of curvature are easily developed by the theoretical equations.

  • This research was conducted structural analysis in order to analyze the impact of the gear in Urea pump when the water is frozen. Subject of study, gear was designed nine models, this gear is a spur gear, located in pump. Contact conditions and rotation conditions were set the gear's condition of restriction. Given 136 MPa pressure to external gear by water was set to the applied stress. The performing result of structural analysis, maximum stress and strain are appeared between two gears. At the same diameter, strain and stress are decreased gradually thicker. Because of the little part in crevice between gears, this parts of gears could be obtained conclusion to be generated maximum stress and strain.

  • A hydraulic gear pump is widely used in many industrial applications to provide both high pressure and high flow rate by physical displacement of finite volume of fluid with each revolution. In this study, two dimensional fluid-structure interaction simulation of gear pump flow was carried out to examine detailed complex flow patterns and structural stress distribution on rotors by using a commercial software ADINA. The effect of rotor clearance size on the flow characteristics, specially the temporal variation of velocity and pressure field, which is a main source of flow noise, also was investigated.

  • Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering(EHPS) 시스템은 오일펌프에 직결된 전기모터를 통해 조향 조작력을 발생시키는 시스템이다. 이러한 스티어링 시스템 부품의 원가 및 성능을 최적화시키는 것은 매우 중요하다. 현재까지 EHPS 시스템과 같은 유압시스템의 개발은 실차 실험을 통해 문제점을 보완하여 개발하고 있기 때문에 많은 시간과 비용이 발생한다. 본 논문에서는 EHPS용 개발한 외접형 기어펌프의 토출유량측정실험을 수행하고 실험 데이터를 통하여 토출유량을 계산할 수 있는 유량 근사식을 제안하였다. 제안한 유량 근사식의 검증을 위해 실험데이터 및 AMESim 유량값과 비교하였고, 그 결과 각각의 유량특성간 오차율 5%내외로 유사성을 입증하였다.

  • 본 연구는 고속 회전형(~10,000 rpm) 기어펌프의 질량유량과 효율을 예측하기 위해서 2 차원 immersed solid method(ISM)를 이용한 수치해석을 수행하였다. 기어펌프와 하우징의 순환유동을 고려하기 위하여 유체 유동을 난류 유동으로 가정하였고, 기어 펌프의 입 출구의 일정 압력 조건하에 기어펌프의 회전 속도를 부가하였다. 기어펌프의 다양한 회전 속도 및 기어 끝 단과 하우징 사의의 서로 다른 간극에 대한 질량유량 및 효율을 검토하였다. 해석 결과로서, 회전 속도가 증가할수록 평균 질량유량 및 효율은 증가하였고, 기어펌프와 하우징의 간격이 증가할수록 평균 질량유량 및 효율은 감소하였다. 간격이 없는 조건하의 6,000 rpm, 8,000 rpm, 10,000 rpm 회전속도에의 효율은 각각 85.11 %, 90.94 %, 93.62 % 를 얻었고, 간격이 0 m, 0.00001 m, 0.00003 m 에 대해서 효율은 각각 93.62 %, 93.29 %, 92.74 % 를 얻었다.

  • 본 논문에서는 건설기계 및 운반기계, 차량의 유압장치(브레이크, 클러치 및 파워 스티어링 시스템)로 널리 사용되어지고 있는 외접기어펌프의 치형을 Involute 기어형식으로 설계하였다. 상용프로그램인 Pumplinx 프로그램을 통해 이 기어를 해석하여 효율 및 성능을 알아보았다.
