The purpose of this study is to understand the importance of exterior environments and to identify the design guidelines for the therapeutic garden for cognitively impaired seniors with Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. The data was collected from 4 Adult Day Care Centers, 2 Nursing Homes, & 1 Assisted living in the U.S.A. from 2001 to 2002 by interview and the floor plan about the outdoor space. Although some may believe that patients with Alzheimer's disease and related disorders are unresponsive to environment, evidence shows that environments especially designed for cognitively impaired seniors can maintain or increase their level of functioning. The use of specially designed exterior environments nay have in reducing incidents of aggressive behavior, and contributing significantly to a wanderer management program. The checklist includes 6 dimensions： safety environment, various sensual stimulations, social interactions, wandering, privacy, and support orientation and reality. The results indicated that the exterior environment have to support wandering behavior, orientation and reality.

This paper is focused on studying a pedestrian passage that forms exterior space of the housing unit on diverse prerequisites and convenience of residential environment regards to plans for Multi-family Housing Complex. The paper explores the actual usage of a pedestrian passage installed in Multi-family Housing Complex and examine whether the nature-friendly space that includes the exterior pedestrian passage of the housing unit is being applied variously on a pedestrian passage. In order to obtain an analysis of the current status on case study unit, the study has prepared an analyzing tool for the environment in use for the exterior pedestrian passage and was able to construction problematic points by applying the obtained data. Thanks for the analysis, a comprehensive evaluation on the plans for the pedestrian passage was implemented through correlation with a green tract of land, living space and the exterior pedestrian passage installed in Multi-family Housing Complex.

The number of school crime has grown continuously for last ten years and its intensity also has reached to serious condition. The concept of CPTED(Crime Prevention through Environmental Design) needs to be focused for improving school environment regarding this context. The exterior space of school environment is variously exposed to school crimes committed by colleague students and also intruders. From the perspective of school CPTED, Natural surveillance as one of the practical strategies requires the micro-scale analysis which clarifies local visibility at each different school exterior space. Thus, the purpose of this research is to develop the analysis method clarifying visibility condition at exterior space of school environment, which supports finding the condition of natural surveillance. The programmed analysis algorithm generated quantitative results clarifying Degree for static visibility and Clustering Coefficient for user tracking visibility. The result of this study produced the analysis method feasible to clarify weak natural surveillance conditions at school exterior spaces. Also, it is expected that the developed analysis method will be used to improve the layout of school exterior space from the perspective of CPTED.

School design in the future will be more important on exterior space plan. However, there is no specific definition or boundary regarding exterior space, and related regulations and guides define the essential factors only. The purpose of this study is to have a guideline for the concept of exterior space in elementary school buildings, and deducted strong and weak points by evaluating exterior space based on each business methods. A result of this study can be suggest what improvements should be made on exterior space design of elementary school buildings by comparative analysis of positive and weak points for each evaluation factors.

The purpose of this study is to establish better residential environment in APT. complex. In this study, the actual conditions of exterior space, user behavior and degree of satisfaction are investigated and analyzed on the 5 high-rise story APT complex in Taegu city. The results of this study were as follow ; The size and arrangement of organizational elemnnt to exterior space in APT. complex have been regulated by law and regulations as the buildings coverage and floor space index, but housinghold and accessibility to the racility will be simultaneously considered to raise Quality of the residential environoment. The main user behavior to exterior space in APT. complex was practical activity and the user behavior pattern by week and among APT. complex were found similiarly. In the ratio of use to exterior space in APT. Complex, that of high-rise residents were lower than that of lowrise residents. In the degree of satisfaction by property of variables to exterior environment In APT. comples, physical of buildings, social - psychologic, managerial economical, physical property of exterior space were estimated positively, but properly of facility were estimated negatively. The degee of satisfaction to exterior environment in APT. complex was highly Influenced by green space, site size. As a result of ractor analysis, the four factors were drawn out from exterior environment in APT. complex. and the factors that have an effect on the degree of residents' satisfaction by factorscore were found in the order of importance as fallow ; managemental, physical, environmental, organizalional factor. Therefore, devilopment of APT. complex should be considered in a view of environmental psychology according to physical organization for used in the future. It is recommended that this problems should be necessitated to be more deeply studies in the future.

Recently, tower type apartment has been a main stream at the apartment market, in Korea. Tower type apartment has features that is easy to maintain a proper distance between apartment buildings, and to keep a prospect comparing to flat type apartment However, there is usually a inner curved area at tower type apartment, and it is able to make an unhealthy environment because of shaded area through a day and a bad air flow. In this study, the duration of sunshine and the exterior air flow environments are examined. As results, the duration of sunshine at the inner curved area of tower type apartment was extremely short, and the exterior air flow environment was very bad for the low air velocity of about 0.08m/s. Installing pilotis in the 1st floor which faces to the inner curved area makes the good improvement of exterior air flow environment.

본 연구는 거주자의 생활안전도를 연구하기 위한 기초 단계로서, 대학교 인근 원룸촌을 대상으로 거주자 의식조사 및 현장조사 등을 통해 대학가 원룸촌의 생활안전요소를 도출하고, 문제점 및 해결방향을 건축계획적 차원에서 다음과 같이 제시하였다. 첫째, 선행연구 결과 거주공간의 진입로 등 넓은 범위의 외부공간에 대한 생활안전 관련 연구나 실제 제도는 상대적으로 미흡하였다. 의식조사 결과, 거주공간의 생활안전 환경에 가장 심리적 영향을 미치는 요소는 보행로와 같은 외부공간의 환경이 거주지의 생활안전성에 가장 큰 영향을 미치는 것으로 나타났다. 둘째, 거주지 외부공간의 생활안전 기능요소는 건축 계획적 차원에서 크게 거주자 감시, 동선유도와 영역 구분, 외부의 공적 공간 활용, 쾌적한 환경 유지 등의 4개 유형으로 분류할 수 있으며, 이러한 요소는 건물 진입 공간뿐만 아니라 보행로나 기타 오픈스페이스 등 보다 넓은 범위의 공간에도 적용될 수 있다. 셋째, 대학가 원룸촌의 외부공간을 조사 분석한 결과, 보행로 같은 외부공간의 생활안전 환경이 거주인구와 원룸 건축물이 가장 많은 구역에서 매우 열악한 것으로 나타났다.

Along with emergence of recent issues such as 'minimization of energy consumption' and 'natural environment and human health' amid the flow of requirements for nature-friendly architecture, attempts for boundary, which has a variety of possibilities as the intermediate territory between interior and exterior space of the architecture, have been pursued actively. On the ground of close relationships between urban area and architecture in a modern society, the boundary between interior and exterior is being exhibited in a wide variety of way of expressions, not as a single plane any longer. In line with this, researcher analyzed interior and exterior boundary according to its type targeting modern housing complex in Europe, and also investigated characteristics thereof. And, having provided the results as basic materials in order to seek amenity of local apartment houses and diversification of housing plan as well, the researcher intends to be of a help to bring physical changes in both building and exterior design, and also to give a new meaning in an environment-friendly aspect.

Changing to a 24-hour urbanistic life style, a night time activities constituted for a major portion. Important of a beautiful exterior lighting as well as safety, and security concerns become increasingly. However, the removal or control of the excessive lighting is considered more important then increasing the brightness of the lamps to achieve bother safety and security. Representing a cheerful and leisure environment from the exterior lighting can also harmonize two aspects of energy saving and sustaining green environment. Designing of exterior lighting at the ＯＯ Agricultural & Fishery Circulation center symbolizes the suitability, convenience and production. It's design and analysis represent the optimum urban night time environment.

This study tried to search the defferences between color designer's intentions of the exterior color design in elementary school design and the students' recognitions. I made a questionare for the elementary school students who are in the 3 schools which are located in the north Kyung-Gi Do. I got the some conclusions as follows. First, the elementary students have different recognitions of the exterior color of the school from coloer designers' intentions. Second, with fixing the Hue, changing the Value and Chroma, the students have more preferances than before. And they have more preferances in high value higher than N8, and they have more preferance lower than 4 in chroma. But in chroma, they have highest preferance in existing status which are low chromas. Therefore, when exterior color designing in elrmentary school design, designer must consider high value higher than N8, and low chroma lower than 4.
