  • Force control of a planar two-link structurally flexible robotic manipulator is considered in this study. The dynamic model is obtained by using the extended Hamilton's principle and the Galerkin criterion. A method is pressented toobtain the linearized equations of motion in Cartesian space for use in designing the control system. The approachto solving the control problem is to use feedforward and feedback control torques. The feedforward torques maneuver the flexible manipulatro along a nominal trajectory and the feedback torques minimize any deviations from the nominal trajectory. The linear quadratic Gaussian/loop transfer recovery (LQG/LTR) design methodology is explotied to design a robust feedback control system that can handle modeling errors and sensor noise, and operates on Cartesian space trajectory errors. The Lqg/LTR compenstaor together with a feedforward ollp is used to control the flexible manipulator. Simulated results are presented for a numerical example.

  • In this paper an experimental microsatellite packet radio protocol based on the terrestrial AX.25 amateur packet radio protocol is introduced and its protocol is modeled by the extended Petri Nets with timers and counters. Finally, this protocol is validated in terms of correctness, recovery, boundness, deadlock, etc by its reachability tree.

  • An investigation of surge inception in a centrifugal compressor was done with measurements of steady and unsteady static pressure. Vaneless diffuser and vaned diffuser were tested. Analyses of the static pressure and the pressure fluctuation showed that stall at the impeller leading edge occurred at first, and then it extended to downstream. In case of the vaneless diffuser, deterioration of the pressure rise in the impeller triggered instability. For the vande diffuser, instability that was generated in the impeller propagated into the vaned diffuser, however the pressure recovery by the vaned diffuser made the operation of the compressor stable at low flow rate.

  • The sternal turnover has a limited use in an asymmetrical funnel chest. However we tried `One-half sternal turnover` as a new operative approach for an asymmetrical funnel chest. Through the bilateral submammary skin incision, median sternotomy was made from xiphoid process to midsternum and extended horizontally. The segment of ribs were cut at the angle of depression. The en-bloc resected chest wall segment contained one-half sternum as well as a part of ribs and left half of rectus muscle. After turning over the en-bloc segment, reapproximation with wiring was done. Sternotomy wound was closed in layer after placing of substernal drainage tube. Postoperatively, the chest wall was stable and the recovery course was uneventful except left-sided minimal pneumothorax which was cured spontaneaously. The patient was discharged on postoperative 14th day.

  • LIDAH data often include systematic errors, which should be removed by a calibration process. This paper proposes a robust approach to calibrating LIDAR data using natural surfaces as reference data. The uniqueness of this approach is to employ a sophisticated selection scheme so that only a portion of LIDAR points can be used to estimate the bias parameters generating the systematic errors. This approach was applied to calibrating simulated LIDAR data. The results show that the approach can successfully recover the bias parameters and calibrate the data with acceptable RMS errors. Particularly, the parameter recovery model can be easily extended to register image data with LIDAR data.

  • The extended 765 kV system may have severe electrical transients according to the interconnection of transmission lines and have long transmission line over 250 km. So we need to analyze the transient phenomena to confirm the insulation coordination which is designed for 765 kV project step I. In particular, this paper shows the analysis results of secondary arc extinction by HSGS (high speed ground switch) application. The EMTP/MODELS were used to simulation study of secondary arc phenomena. We had confirmed the TRV(transient recovery voltage) and rated current of HSGS which will be used in the KEPCO 765 kV system.

  • Compressed sensing addresses the recovery of a sparse vector from its few linear measurements. Recently, the success for the vector case has been extended to the matrix case. Compressed sensing of low-rank matrices solves the ill-posed inverse problem with fie low-rank prior. The problem can be formulated as either the rank minimization or the low-rank approximation. In this paper, we survey recently proposed efficient algorithms to solve these two formulations.

  • In communication protocol design, it is important that design procedure is simple and result protocol must be correct. This paper presents a communication protocol synth-sizing algorithm, which enhances productivity of protocol design, using CFSM. CFSM is defined as extended FSM for representing protocol information and simplification. In this method protocol designer descripts only one communication machine with out error consideration using FSM, then two communication machine M' and N' are generated. And then transformation rules for error-recovery converts M' and N' to EM' and EN' which are logically correct.

  • For a plant subject to several kinds of disturbances in the plant input side, we consider a problem of designing a controller based on the disturbance cancellation. The conventional loop transfer recovery (LTR) technique can not be used since the extended system consisting of the plant and the disturbance model is not necessarily stabilizable. We propose a new LTR technique that can be applied for our problem. As a target of the LTR, we choose a state feedback controller using a disturbance estimator. We find an LTR procedure based on the Riccati equation formalism where the stochastic model contains the filter gain matrix of the disturbance estimator in the target. The procedure recovers the target feedback ...
