  • The total market capacities of our domestic on-line shopping malls had reached over one billion wons in 2005. They are also estimated to reach 1.8 billion wons in 2008. In order to reveal some relationships between six antecedent variables and intention-to-use of online shooing malls, this study has extended the original TAM2 model using these variables obtained from (1) perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use from TAM2 model, (2) compatibility from IDT theory, (3) perceived enjoyment from Flow theory, and (4) others (perceived risk and self efficacy). Two statistical packages such as SPSS 12.0 and Lirel 8.70 were used for data analyses. Among these seven proposed hypotheses, six hypotheses were accepted while one hypothesis regarding perceived risk was rejected. As perceived risk hypothesis concerning the intention-to-use was rejected, the perceived risk did not show the support of the intention-to-use.

  • This paper proposes a model of SP(silent period) generation in masseter muscle by means of computer simulation. The model is based on the anatomical and physiological properties of trigeminal nervous system. In determining the SP generation pathway, evoked SPs of masseter muscle after mechanical stimulation to the chin are divided into normal and abnormal group. Normal SP is produced by the activation of mechanoreceptors in periodontal ligament. The activation of nociceptors contributes to the latter part of normal SP, abnormal extended SP is produced. As a result, the EMG signal generated by a proposed SP generation model is similar to both real EMG signal including normal SP and abnormal extended SP with TMJ patients. The result of this study have shown differences of SP generation mechanism between subjects both with and without TMJ dysfunction.

  • I use panel data of sales by the foreign subsidiaries of the U.S. MNCs to examine whether trading blocs create more or less FDI and the impacts on FDI of the extended market size created by forming blocs. By employing a region-fixed effects model, I find that countries forming trading blocs attract more FDI, particularly from non-member countries, but that FDI does not always increase with the market size of the blocs. As the market size increases, FDI increases only for large blocs. However, these findings are sensitive to model specifications. A policy implication is that a country considering forming or joining a trading bloc with a view to attract FDI may want to form a trading bloc with a country or countries with a large market size.

  • The North and South Koreas have different standards for computer keyboard designs, though both are two sets type keyboards. We expect that the unified design will be three sets type as the third standard. Korean keyboards of three sets type are classified as 3 modes in this paper, such as limited models, medium models, and extended models. Based on design principles of three sets type, 27, 29, 30, 36, and 38 keys models for a unified standard are suggested.

  • In this paper, we introduce an extended form of the inverse power Lomax model via Marshall-Olkin approach. We call it the Marshall-Olkin inverse power Lomax (MOIPL) distribution. The four- parameter MOIPL distribution is very flexible which contains some former and new models. Vital properties of the MOIPL distribution are affirmed. Maximum likelihood estimators and approximate confidence intervals are considered under Type I censored samples. Maximum likelihood estimates are evaluated according to simulation study. Bayesian estimators as well as Bayesian credible intervals under symmetric loss function are obtained via Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC) approach. Finally, the flexibility of the new model is analyzed by means of two real data sets. It is found that the MOIPL model provides closer fits than some other models based on the selected criteria.

  • Purpose Financial technology, also known as FinTech, is conceptually defined as a new type of financial service which is combined with information technology and other traditional financial services like payments, investments, financing, insurance, asset management and so on. Most of the studies on FinTech services have been conducted from the viewpoint of technical issues or legal and institutional studies, and few studies are conducted from the health belief perspectives and security behavior approaches. In this regard, this study suggest an extended information protection behavior model. Design/Methodology/Approach The Health Belief Model (HBM), the Protection Motivation Theory (PMT), and the Technology Threat Avoidance Theory (TTAT) were employed to identify constructs relevant to information protection behavior of FinTech services. A new extended information protection behavior model in which the influence factors of information protection behavior (i.e., perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, perceived self-efficacy, subjective norms) affect perceived threats and perceived responsiveness positively, leading to information protection behavior of FinTech users eventually. This study developed an extended information protection behavior model to explain the protection behavior intention in FinTech users and collected 272 survey responses from the mobile users who had experiences with such mobile payments and FinTech services. Findings The finding of this study suggests that the influence factors of information protection behavior affect perceived threats and perceived responsiveness positively, and information protection behavior of FinTech users as well.

  • Subgrid scale stabilization method is applied to Woo and Liu(2004)'s extended Boussinesq FEM numerical model to eliminate the 2dx wiggles. In order to optimize the computational efficiency, Hessian operator is introduced and the matrix of velocity vector is combined to one matrix for solving matrix equations. The mass lumping technique is also applied to the matrix equations of auxiliary variables. The newly developed code is applied to simulate Vincent and Briggs(1989)' wave transformation experiments and the results show that the numerical solution is almost wiggle-free and it matches very well with experimental data. Due to improvement of computational efficiency and wiggle reduction, it is plausible to apply this model to a realistic problem such as harbor oscillation problems.

  • Reliability growth analysis was conducted for a guided weapons system. In the development phase, reliability management activities were continuously carried out by identifying failure modes and causes and analyzing faults found during the testing. The missile system consists of an all-up-round missile and a launcher, and the analysis was carried out according to the test results of each system. The test results for the all-up-round missile were obtained with discrete data, which were success and failure as a one-shot-device. The test results for the launcher were obtained with continuous data by operating the equipment continuously in the test. For each test result, the reliability growth model was applied to the Standard Gompertz model and the Crow-Extended model. The models were used to identify the growth analysis results of the test so far. It was also possible to predict the reliability growth results by assuming the future test results. The study results could be useful in achieving the desired reliability goal and in determining the number of tests. Then, the planned test will be confirmed and the growth analysis of the missile system will continuously be conducted.

  • This paper presents the flexural performance of steel beam-to-column joints composed of hollow structural section beams and columns. A finite element (FE) model was developed incorporating geometrical and material nonlinearities to evaluate the behaviour of joints subjected to bending moments. The numerical outcomes were validated with experimental results and compared with EN1993-1-8. The demountability of the structure was discussed based on the tested specimen. A parametric analysis was carried out to investigate the effects of steel yield strength, end-plate thickness, beam thickness, column wall thickness, bolt diameter, number of bolts and location. Consequently, an analytical model was derived based on the component method to predict the moment-rotation relationships for the sub-assemblies with extended end-plates. The accuracy of the proposed model was calibrated by the experimental and numerical results. It is found that the FE model is fairly reliable to predict the initial stiffness and moment capacity of the joints, while EN1993-1-8 overestimates the initial stiffness extensively. The beam-to-column joints are shown to be demountable and reusable with a moment up to 53% of the ultimate moment capacity. The end-plate thickness and column wall thickness have a significant influence on the joint behaviour, and the layout of double bolt-rows in tension is recommended for joints with extended end-plates. The derived analytical model is capable of predicting the moment-rotation relationship of the structure.

  • Hub-and-spoke transportation network is a powerful and useful network structure that takes full advantage of economies of scale on routes between hubs. In recent studies, the network structure is extended to hybrid hub-andspoke that allows direct transportation between spokes. In this study, we considered more extended network structure which is called hybrid multiple hub-and-spoke that has multiple hubs and allows direct transportation between spokes. We developed a mathematical optimization model for automotive service parts transportation planning under hybrid multiple hub-and-spoke network structure. The model suggests a long-term transportation route planning and a short-term vehicle assignment planning. The model is verified by simulation and validated in real world application to Hyundai Mobis automotive service parts transportation planning. From the simulation result, the model reduced the transportation cost about 24.7%, the total distance about 6.8% and the CO2 emissions about 8.8%. In real world application for 6 months from July to December 2010, the model reduced the transportation cost about 9.1% by changing the long-term transportation route without daily vehicle assignment planning.
