On a Reverse of the Slightly Sharper Hilbert-type Inequality

  • In this paper, by introducing parameters ${\lambda}$, ${\alpha}$and two pairs of conjugate exponents (p, q), (r, s) and applying the improved Euler-Maclaurin's summation formula, we establish a reverse of the slightly sharper Hilbert-type inequality. As applications, the strengthened version and the equivalent form are given.

Dynamics of Interdiffusion at Interface between Partially Miscible Polymers

  • We have studied the behavior of interdiffusion between partially miscible polymer pair from a theoretical viewpoint by applying the reptation model for collective interdiffusion and spinodal decomposition in polymer mixtures with different molecular weights. We find that our predictions agree well with the experiments of Klein and co-workers, where the exponent α of the initial increase of interfacial width with time in $t^{\alpha}$ is significantly lower than 0.5 for free diffusion.

  • The DFA(detrended fluctuation analysis) which is included the correlation property of the EEG is used to analysis the depth of anesthesia. We studied ASA I or II adult patients supported by the society of anesthesiologists. Patients with history of dementia and neurological disorder are excluded. Average age is $48.9{\pm}10.9$ old, average weight is $57.1{\pm}8.2$ kg and average hight is $158{\pm}6.6$cm of the patients under the operation. Anesthesia medicine is Sevoflurane and the stages of anesthesia are 6 stages, that is pre-operation, induction, right after induction, stop the medicine and post-operation. Among the scaling exponent ${\alpha}1$, ${\alpha}2$, ${\alpha}3$ we know that ${\alpha}1$, ${\alpha}3$, were well appeared to discriminate pre-operation, induction, right after induction, stop the medicine and post-operation. So we confirmed that the parameters is useful to the depth of anesthesia.

A Study of Energy Production Change according to Atmospheric Stability and Equivalent Wind Speed in the Offshore Wind Farm using CFD Program (CFD를 이용한 등가풍속 산정과 대기안정도에 따른 연안풍력단지 발전량 변화 연구)

  • To predict annual energy production (AEP) accurately in the wind farm where located in Seongsan, Jeju Island, Equivalent wind speed (EQ) which can consider vertical wind shear well than Hub height wind speed (HB) is calculated. AEP is produced by CFD model WindSim from National wind resource map. EQ shows a tendency to be underestimated about 2.7% (0.21 m/s) than HB. The difference becomes to be large at nighttime when wind shear is large. EQ can be also affected by atmospheric stability so that is classified by wind shear exponent (${\alpha}$). AEP is increased by 11% when atmosphere becomes to be stabilized (${\alpha}$ > 0.2) than it is convective (${\alpha}$ < 0.1). However, it is found that extreme wind shear (${\alpha}$ > 0.3) is hazardous for power generation. This results represent that AEP calculated by EQ can provide improved accuracy to short-term wind power forecast and wind resource assessment.

  • This research investigated the applicapability of an improved algorithm to calculate the topographic index, ln($\alpha$/tan B), for the topography of Korea employing channel initiation threshold area(CIT) and an exponent for the gradient(H). hanjaechun subwatershed in Cheongdochun and Dongok subwatershed in Wichun test watershed were selected as study areas. The digital elevation models(DEM) of study areas have been made with the resolution from 10m to 100m. Application of CIT to the traditional algorithm provide reasonable computation method in considering channel pixel impact. Introduction of the gradient exponent(H) made it possible to obtain better flow convergence effect in concave topography comparing with the traditional multiple flow direction algorithm. The improved algorithm shows the capability to relax the overestimation problem of rising limb of hydrograph through reducing overestimated high value of topographic index.

Improved Throughput Scaling of Large Ultra-Wide Band Ad Hoc Networks (거대 초 광 대역 애드 혹 네트워크에서의 개선된 용량 스케일링)

  • We show improved throughput scaling laws for an ultra-wide band (UWB) ad hoc network, in which n wireless nodes are randomly located. First, we consider the case where a modified hierarchical cooperation (HC) strategy is used. Then, in a dense network of unit area, our result indicates that the derived throughput scaling depends on the path-loss exponent ${\alpha}$ for certain operating regimes due to the power-limited characteristics. It also turns out that the HC protocol is dominant for 2 < ${\alpha}$ < 3 while using the nearest multihop (MH) routing leads to a higher throughput for ${\alpha}{\geq}3$. Second, the impact and benefits of infrastructure support are analyzed, where m base stations (BSs) are regularly placed in UWB networks. In this case, the derived throughput scaling depends on ${\alpha}$ due to the power-limited characteristics for all operating regimes. Furthermore, it is shown that the total throughput scales linearly with parameter m as m is larger than a certain level. Hence, the use of either HC or infrastructure is helpful in improving the throughput of UWB networks in some conditions.

Spinnability and Rheological Properties of Sols Derived from Si(OC2H5)4 and Zr(O-nC3H7)4 Solutions

  • The shape of the polymers in the mixed alkoxide solutions of Si(OC2H5)4 and Zr(n-OC3H7)4 with various water contents (1, 2, 4, and 8 in molar ratio to alkoxide, r) and catalysts was examined by rheological measurements, and its relation with fiber drawing behavior of the solutions was described. It was found that fibers could be drawn in the viscosity range 1~100 P from the acid-catalyzed solutions with lower water contents of the molar ratio H2O/alkoxide, $r{\leq}2$. On the other hand, no fiber could be drawn from the acid-catalyzed solutions including a large amount of water($r{\geq}4$) and the base-catalyzed solutions. The relation between the intrinsic viscosity [${\eta}$] and number average molecular weight ${\bar{M}}n$, namely $[{\eta}]=K{\bar{M}}n{\alpha}$, has shown that the acid-catalyzed spinnable solution (r = 1 and 2) had linear polymers where the exponent a's were about 0.56 and 0.81, whereas non-spinnable solutions (r = 4 and 8) had three dimensional network polymers or spherical particles where the exponent a's were 0.41-0.51 and 0.35.

Low-Temperature Superplastic Deformation Behavior of Fine-Grained Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo-0.1Si Alloy (미세 결정립 Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo-0.1Si 합금의 저온 초소성 변형 거동)

  • This study aimed to elucidate the deformation mechanism during low-temperature superplasticity of fine-grained Ti-6Al-2Sn-4Zr-2Mo-0.1Si alloy in the context of constitutive equation. For this purpose, initial coarse equiaxed microstructure was refined to $2.2{\mu}m$ via dynamic globularization. Globularized microstructure exhibited large superplastic elongations(434-826%) at temperatures of $650-750^{\circ}C$ and strain rate of $10^{-4}s^{-1}$. It was found that the main deformation mechanism of fine-grained material was grain boundary sliding accommodated by dislocation motion with both stress exponent (n) and grain size exponent (p) values of 2. When the alpha grain size, not sub-grain size, was considered to be an effective grain size, the apparent activation energy for low-temperature superplasticity of the present alloy(169kJ/mol) was closed to that of Ti-6Al-4V alloy(160kJ/mol).

Effects of Head-Up Tilt on Nonlinear Properties of Heart Rate Variability in Young and Elderly Subjects

  • In the present study, our aim is to investigate whether responses to the head-up tilt (HUT) on nonlinear properties of heart rate variability (HRV) in young and elderly subjects are different or not. Thirteen young-healthy subjects ($24.5{\pm}3.7$ years) and 18 old-aged healthy subjects ($74.5{\pm}7.4$ years) participated in this study. An electrocardiogram (ECG) in the supine posture, at $0^{\circ}$, and in the standing posture, at $70^{\circ}$ of head-up tilt, was recorded. Detrended fluctuation analysis (DFA) and approximate entropy (ApEn), measures of short-/long-term correlation properties and overall complexity of heart rate (HR) respectively, along with spectral components of HR variability (HRV) were analyzed for both the supine and HUT postures. We observed that the short-term fractal exponent ${\alpha}_1$ increased during HUT posture (F(1, 29) = 39.79, P = 0.000), especially, the young subjects showed a significantly higher values compared to the elderly subjects. ApEn significantly decreased (F(1, 29) = 8.61, P = 0.006) during HUT posture. HUT posture decreased the complexity in HR dynamics and increased short-term fractal exponent values in young subjects but not in elderly subjects. These results imply that there are differences of response to HUT on nonlinear properties between young and elderly subjects.

Effect of Sintering Temperature on Electrical Stability against Surge Stress of Zn-Pr-Co-Cr-Er Oxides-based Varistors (Zn-Pr-Co-Cr-Er 산화물계 바리스터의 써지 스트레스에 대한 전기적 안정성에 미치는 소결온도의 영향)

  • This paper reports the variations of varistor voltage, nonlinear exponent, leakage current, and dissipation factor against surge stress of ZnO-P $r_{6}$ $O_{11}$-CoO-C $r_2$ $O_3$-E $r_2$ $O_3$(ZPCCE)-based varistors manufactured with the variations of sintering temperature. It was found that the variations of electrical parameters against surge stressing current of 100 A/$\textrm{cm}^2$(8x20 ${\mu}\textrm{s}$) is not so large under the surge stress of 700 times. Among varistors, specially the varistor sintered at 134$0^{\circ}C$ exhibited the smallest variations, with %$\Delta$ $V_{lmA}$=+0.23%, %$\Delta$$\alpha$=+0.23%, %$\Delta$ $I_{L}$=0%, %$\Delta$tan$\delta$=-6.94%. The clamping voltage ratio( $V_{c}$/ $V_{lmA}$) of all varistors was less than 2.2.2.2.2.2.2.
