황연(黃連)이 Lipopolysaccharide 뇌실 주입으로 유발된 생쥐의 IL-6와 $TNF-{\alpha}$ 변화에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Coptidis Rhizoma on the Change of Interleukin-6 and $TNF-{\alpha}$ Level induced by LPS I.C.V. Injection in Mice)

  • Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of Coptidis Rhizoma on the plasma IL-6 and $TNF-{\alpha}$ level in mice by intracerebroventricular(I.C.V.) injection of Lipopolysaccharide (LPS). Method: 6 mice were assigned to each of the Normal group, the Control group, and the individual Experimental groups. In the Normal group only saline was administered intragastrically, and in the Control group LPS was injected intracerebroventricularly 1 hr after intragastric administration of saline. In the Experimental groups Coptidis Rhizoma(0.5g/kg, 1.0g/kg, 3.0g/kg) was administered intragastrically to mice 1 hr prior to LPS (100ng/mouse) I.C.V. Injection. To measure the plasma IL-6 and $TNF-{\alpha}$ level of mice, their blood samples were collected from retro-orbital venous plexus, immediately centrifuged at $4^{\circ}C$, and plasma was removed and stored frozen at $-83^{\circ}C$ for later determination of plasma IL-6 and $TNF-{\alpha}$. Result: 1. LPS I.C.V. Injection increased plasma IL-6 level significantly in a dose-dependent manner compared with Normal group. (P<0.01) The plasma IL-6 concentration reached a significant maximal level about 1 hr after LPS(100ng/mouse) I.C.V. Injection.(P<0.001) 2. Both the 0.5g/kg(Sample A) and 1.0g/kg(Sample B) groups to which Coptidis Rhizoma was administered intragastrically 1 hr prior to LPS(100ng/mouse) I.C.V. Injection showed insignificant lower plama IL-6 level in 1 hr than Control group(P>0.05), and 3.0g/kg group(Sample C) conversely showed higher plama IL-6 level than Control group. 3. LPS I.C.V. Injection increased plasma $TNF-{\alpha}$ level significantly in a dose-dependent manner compared with Normal group.(P<0.05) The plasma $TNF-{\alpha}$ concentration reached a significant maximal level about 1 hr after LPS(100ng/mouse) I.C.V. Injection.(P<0.001) 4. All Sample groups(0.5g/kg, 1.0g/kg, and 3.0g/kg) to which Coptidis Rhizoma was administered intragastrically with each constituent-dose 1 hr prior to LPS(100ng/mouse) I.C.V. Injection showed significant lower $TNF-{\alpha}$ plama level in 1 hr than Control group.(P<0.001) These data revealed that Coptidis Rhizoma might have anti inflammatory effect by reducing the plasma $TNF-{\alpha}$ level in a dose dependent manner in mice LPS I.C.V. Injection.

  • Objective: This study was conducted to investigate the effects of Aconiti Tuber on the plasma IL-6 and $TNF-{\alpha}$ level in mice stimulated by intracerebroventricular(I.C.V.) Injection of Lipopolysaccharide(LPS). Method: 6 mice were assigned to each of the normal group, the control group, and the experimental group. Injection showed insignificant lower plasma IL-6 level in 1 hr than control group(P<0.0635), and sample B group (Aconiti Tuber 1.0g/kg) showed significant lower plasma IL-6 level in 1 hr than control group(P〈0.05), and sample C group (Aconiti Tuber 3.0g/kg) showed significant lower IL-6 plasma level in 1 hr than control group(P<0.01). 3. sample A group to which Aconiti Tuber(0.5g/kg) was administered intragastrically 1 hr prior to the stimulation by LPS I.C.V. Injection showed insignificant lower plasma $TNF-{\alpha}$ level in 1 hr than control group(P>0.05), and Both sample B(1.0g/kg) and sample C(3.0g/kg) groups showed significant lower $TNF-{\alpha}$ plasma level in 1 hr than control group(P<0.01). These data revealed that Aconiti Tuber might have the anti inflammatory effect by reducing the plasma IL-6 and $TNF-{\alpha}$ level in a dose dependent manner in mice LPS I.C.V. Injection.

EBM 기반 구축을 위한 오적산 연구 논문 분석 (Analysis of Studies on Ojeok-san for Establishment of Evidence Based Medicine)

  • Objective : The purpose of this report was to provide the information about activity and safety of Ojeok-san by analyzing domestic/international papers about Ojeok-san. Methods : Domestic/international papers related to Ojeok-san were reviewed and analyzed. These papers were then classified by year, experimental method and subject. Results : The following results were obtained in this study. 1. The studies of Ojeok-san started from 1984 and has continuously increased. The studies were mainly focused on experimental models rather than clinical studies. 2. By subject, papers related to safety were most common with 5 papers among 20 papers. Besides there were papers related to efficacy of analgesic, anti-hyperlipidemic, anti-blood stasis and treatment for uterine myoma. 3. The papers related to safety were mainly focused on the effect of Okeok-san on liver function, renal function or metal concentration of organs such as blood, brain, liver, kidney and bone. Ojeok-san proved to be safe, but more clinical studies regarding the safety are needed hereafter. 4. Papers related to analgesic, anti-pyretic, anti-phlogistic activities of Ojeok-san were in vivo studies, and other papers were about anti-hyperlipidemic activity, apoptosis inducing activity on uterine myeloma cell line and anti blood static activity on hydrocortisone acetate induced blood statis model. 5. Case reports were about anti-lipidemia, analgesic effect for mastalgia/back pain and anxiety disorder due to climacteric changes. Conclusion : Ojeok-san is being used in various ways with analgesic, anti-pyretic, anti-phlogistic, anti-hyperlipidemic, anti-tumor or anti-blood statis activity. However, mechanism study should be conducted at the molecular biology level and more clinical studies on the efficacy of Ojeok-san are needed.

일본에서 보중익기탕(補中益氣湯)에 대한 최신 연구와 임상 응용 동향 -2003년에서 2008년까지 학술논문 분석- (The latest trend of research and clinical usage about Bojungikki-Tang in Japan -searching medical science articles published from 2003 to 2008-)

  • Objective : The aim of this study was to analyse the latest trend of medical science articles about Bojungikki-Tang published in Japan. Methods : We searched medical science articles published from 2003 to 2008 in Japan on the web site, CiNii and then these articles were reviewed and classified according to experimental subject and method. Results : Fifty-two articles, related to Bojungikki-Tang were searched and these were classified into three classes, pharmacological signaling studies, clinical case studies and the others. As a result of classification, clinical case studies were most abundant by 38 cases, pharmacological signaling studies were 10 and the others were 4. This result suggested that the study of Bojungikki-Tang was mainly focused on clinical study rather than experimental study. Among the clinical case studies, clinical studies related to immune disease took the most greatest number and number of other clinical studies were evenly distributed over the various disease. Immune intensification effect of Bojungikki-Tang can be thought continuous with reinforce the middle Jiao Qi in company with improvement effect on growth hormone failure and male infertility. A fact that the one prescription, Bojungikki-Tang could be used to treat various diseases reflects a viewpoint of Oriental medicine that is based on the respect for and understanding of individual constitution and disposition while paying attention to the gender difference and individuality. The clinical usefulness of Bojungikki-Tang on obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and visceroptosis concerns with ascend Yang and treat Qi sinking. Pharmacological signaling studies were mainly focused on diseases that were treated Bojungikki-Tang in clinic, however, there was one study that experimented on changes of numerous gene expression according to the treatment of Bojungikki-Tang using DNA array. Conclusion : The therapeutic system of Oriental medicine is different in various aspects form that of Western medicine and appropriate harmonization of east and west is expected to improve the quality of medical care. In this regard, continuous investigation and analysis about herbal medical science papers in Japan can also be useful to make progress in Korean traditional medicine.

보중익기탕(補中益氣湯), 소음인(少陰人) 보중익기탕(補中益氣湯)과 그 구성약물군(構成藥物群)이 alloxan으로 유발(誘發)된 고혈당(高血糖) 백서(白鼠)에 미치는 영향(影響) (Effects of Bojungikgitang, Soeumin bojungikgitang and its component groups on diabetes in alloxan induced diabetic rats)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of Bojungikgitang(補中益氣湯), Soeumin bojungikgitang(少陰人 補中益氣湯) and its component groups on diabetes in alloxan induced diabetic rats. Sprague-Dawley male rats weighing $200{\pm}10\;gm$ were randomly assigned to one normal, one control and five experimental groups. The experimental groups was classified into to Bojungikgitang(B1 group), Soeumin bojungikgitang(B2 group), Bogihyulyak(B0 group), Siho-sengma(B1+ group) and Gwakhyang- soyeup(B2+ group). Diabetes was experimentally induced by abdomenal injection of 100 mg/kg of body weight of alloxan. Animals were sacrificed at the 6th day and 11th day of diabetic states. The results were obtained as follows: In carbohydrate metabolism, the level of glucose in control group was three-fold higher after alloxan injection than that of normal group. In B1, B2 groups the level of glucose was decreased by 39% and 43% compared with that of control group, and in component groups it was decreased by 73%, 81%, and 80% respectively. In fat metabolism, the level of triglyceride and total cholesterol in serum were lower in B1 and B2 groups with high significant difference and had similar tendency in components groups compared with that of control group. The level of HDL cholesterol on serum were increased in B1 and B2 group with significant difference. And in component group it had similar tendency compared with that of control group. In protein metabolism, the level of total protein and albumin were higher in B1 and B2 group with significant difference, and in component group also increased but with no significancy compared with control group. In kidney function, the level of creatinine group with significant difference, and other compared with control group. In liver function, the level of GOT, GPT, ${\gamma}$-GTP. ALP and bilirubin were lower in B1 and B2 group with significant difference, and in component had similar tendency compared with control group. But in the level of LDH, it was decreased with no significancy. These results indicate that Bojungikgitang(補中益氣湯), Soeumin bojungikgitang(少陰人 補中益氣湯) has strong effect on diabetes and it is useful to prevent diabetes, and in component groups the difference between B1+ and B2+ group was not significant.

  • This study was aimed to investigate the anti-tumor and immune response effect of Samyongtang(S1; this medicine represents for 'ENERGIZER'), Yangjeongjejeoktang(S2; this is the 'INTERMEDIATE METHOD' of S1 and S3) and Onbeakwon(S3; this is 'ATTACK' the disease of mass) on the experimental rats induced by Sarcoma-180 and Methotrexate. And to observed the differences S1, S2, and S3 treatment groups. Tumor weight(TW) in vivo, interleukin-2(IL-2), hemagglutinin titer(H.A), hemolysin titer(HL), rossete forming cell(RFC), delayed type hypersensitivity(DTH), and natural killer cell activity(NKCA) in vivo were measured in rats. The obtained results were summarized as follows. 1. Tumor weight was decreased in all treatment groups (S2>S3>S1) as compared with control group, but the difference was not statistically significant each treatment groups. 2. Interleukin-2 was increased in all treatment groups (S1>S2>Ss) as compared with control group, but the difference was not statistically significant each treatment groups. 3. Hemagglutinin titer was increased in all treatment groups (S1>S2>S3) as compared with control group, but the difference was not statistically significant each treatment groups. 4. Hemolysin titer was increased in all treatment groups (S1>S2>S3) as compared with control group, but the difference was not statistically significant each treatment groups. 5. Rossete forming cell(RFC) was increased in all treatment groups (S1>S2>S3) as compared with control group, but the difference was not statistically significant each treatment groups. 6. Delayed type hyperseneitivity(DTH) was increased in S1, S2 treatment groups (S1>S2) as compared with control group, but it was decreased in S3 treatment group. Therefore, S1 group was statistically significant compared with S3 groups. 7. Natural killer cell activity(NKCA) was increased in all treatment groups (S2>S3>S1) as compared with control group, but the difference was not statistically significant each treatment groups. Based on the above mentioned results, it is suggested that S1, S2 and S3 will have anti-tumor substances and enhance effect of immune response. But the differences were not statistically significant in each treatment groups, except for delayed type hypersensitivity.

As-Te-Si-Ge 유리질 반도체의 전기전도에 관한 연구 (A Study on Electrical Conduction of As-Te-Si-Ge Amorphous Semiconductor)

  • As-Te.Si-Ge 유리질 반도체의 직류 펀도도는 실온에서 3x10-7Ω-1cm-1∼1.5x10-8Ω-1cm-1이었고 각 시료의 온도 인화에 따른 전도특성은 상전이 온도(Tg) 이하에서 o=ooexp(-△E/kT)로 표시할 수 있었다. 또한 실온에서 각 시료의 교류 전도도의 주파수 의존도는 거의 같았으며 직류 전도도에 비해 상당치 높게 나타나서 o(w)=oo+Awn으로 표시할 수 있었다. 200KHz 경우에 교류 펀도도는 295。K∼473。K에서 온도에 무관하고 200Hz 경우에는 433。K에서 부터 심하게 증가하였다. 각 시fy는 기억스위칭 현상은 없었고 문지받스위칭 현상만 관찰할 수 있었다. The dc conductivity, ac conductivity and switching effect of As·Te-Si·Ge have beon investigated. The dc conductivity ranged from 3x10-7Ω-1cm-1∼1.5x10-8Ω-1cm-1 at room temperature and was found to be expressed by o=ooexp(-△E/kT) below the phase transition temperature Tg. The ac conductivity was much higher than dc conductivity and this result is consistent to experimental formula o(w)=oo+Awn. In the temperature range of 298。K∼147。K, the ac conductivity was independent of temperature at 200KHs. At lower frequencies the ac conductivity increased strong1y with temperature. Also, it has been found that all samples showed a threshold switching, but not a memory switching.

접선식 유입구와 다단식 나선 유입구의 공기 배출 효과에 관한 실험적 연구 (Experimental study of the air emission effect in the tangential and the multi-stage spiral inlet)

  • 급격한 기상변화로 인한 극한 강우와 집중폭우의 발생빈도 증가로 기존 수방시설의 한계 용량을 초과해 도심지 침수피해가 빈번하게 발생하고 있다. 최근 도시화 추세가 급격하게 빨라지면서 수방시설 등 사회기반시설에 대한 지하공간 개발의 필요성이 증가하고 있으며, 지하공간을 활용한 지하방수로와 지하저류지 기술이 급부상하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 지하유입시설의 대표적 형상인 접선식 유입구와 나선식 유입구에 대한 공기 배출효과를 분석하기 위해 유입유량 변화에 따른 수직갱 내부 공기공동(air-core)의 형상 크기를 계측했다. 나선식 유입구의 경우, 저유량 유입조건에서 와류 유도 효과를 개선하기 위해 유입부 바닥면에 계단형 다단식 구조를 도입했다. 수직갱 내부 공기공동의 전체적인 평균 단면적의 경우, 다단식 나선 유입구가 접선식 유입구보다 10% 정도 크게 나타나 고유량 유입조건에서 높은 공기 배출 효과와 유입효율을 나타냈다. 접선식 유입구의 경우, 유입구가 가지는 고유 성능을 유지할 수 있는 최대 유량 조건을 초과하면서 공기 배출 효과가 감소하기 시작했다. 또한, 실험에서 사용된 접선식 유입구와 다단식 나선 유입구 모형에 활용 가능한 기초자료를 제공하기 위해 수직갱 내부 위치에 따른 공기공동 단면적에 대한 실험식(empirical formula)을 제시했다.

The Effect of Glasthma Syrup in Asthma: a study protocol for a triple-blind randomized controlled trial

  • Objectives: Asthma is a chronic disease, and the demand for herbal medicines in this field has increased in recent years. The new findings highlight the role of the gut-lung axis in the pathophysiology of asthma. Hence, this study will evaluate the safety and efficacy of Glasthma syrup, an herbal formula based on Persian medicine, in improving asthma and regulating intestinal permeability. The formula consists of five herbal ingredients that have anti-inflammatory effects on the respiratory tract, also known as gut tonics. Methods: The study will be conducted as a placebo-controlled, triple-blind, randomized trial. It will consist of a 4-week intervention followed by a 4-week follow-up period. The target sample size is 20 patients with moderate asthma aged 18 to 60 years. Eligible participants will be randomly assigned to either the experimental group or the control group in equal numbers. Patients in the experimental group will take Glasthma syrup (7.5 mL, twice a day), while patients in the control group will take a matching placebo. Both groups will receive a 4-week combination of a long-acting beta2 agonist and a leukotriene modulator as standard of care. Inhaled corticosteroids can be used as rescue medication as needed. Results: The primary outcomes are asthma symptom scale, lung function, and intestinal permeability. Secondary outcomes include quality of life, symptom recurrence rates, and blood tests. A safety assessment will also be conducted during the trial. Conclusion: In this trial, the effects of Glasthma syrup in patients with moderate asthma will be examined. The study will also assess the effects of the formulation on the gut-lung axis by simultaneously monitoring the gut permeability index, asthma symptoms, and lung function.

영상 분석 기법을 이용한 RC 부재의 항복 후 휨 거동 분석(II): 인장부를 중심으로 (Evaluation on the Bending Behavior After Yield of RC Beam by Using Image Processing Method(II): Focused on the Tensile Part)

  • 콘크리트구조물의 한계상태설계법이 적용되면서 구조물의 극한상태까지 고려하는 설계가 이루어지고 있다. 실제 철근콘크리트 부재가 인장력을 부담할 때 부재가 항복한 후에도 극한상태까지 콘크리트가 인장력을 부담한다. 따라서 한계상태 거동에 대한 정확한 평가를 위해서는 휨 부재의 항복 후 인장강화효과에 대한 연구가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 복철근 직사각형 단면을 가지는 RC 단순보에 대하여 4점 휨 실험을 수행하였고, 영상분석기법을 이용하여 부재의 거동을 상세하게 분석하였다. 분석 결과를 이용하여 휨 인장강화효과 계수를 도입한 항복 후 인장강화효과 추정식을 제안하였고, 이를 기존 연구들의 실험 결과를 통해 적용성을 검증하였다. 부재의 연성거동을 대표하는 극한 변형률과 항복 변형률 차이가 실험 결과와 유사하게 나타나 제안식의 예측이 비교적 정확한 것으로 판단된다.
