  • In order to design a conveyer system which is driven by short primary single sided linear induction motors (SLIM), the thrust force characteristics of SLIM have been calculated from the fundamental equation based on Maxwell's electromagnetic equation and by varying the various design parameters. A conveyer system of moving secondary has been constructed using the design values obtained by the simulation and these values are compared with the experimental values. The control method of the conveyer system is also proposed.

  • The equation of output voltage from the PVDF was derived. When impact force applied to the PVDF films of cantilever beam and one-end fixed, other-end supported beam structure, output voltage equation induced. Experimental output voltages by falling ball agreed quite well with induced theoretical data. This PVDF film showers to be in high possibility in a warning system of abnormal pulse rate and breathing, and in detecting impact force and/or mechanical energy.

  • In this research, engine performance and emission variation according to equivalence ratio and ignition time is calculated by validated analysis model. LNG engine ignite by spark plug and spark ignition modeled using DPIK model and G-equation that modeled initial flame surface called kernel and velocity and position of flame front. Engine pressure and emission was validated with experimental data.

  • This paper demonstrates an experimental study to evaluate the effects of environmental exposures on the bond between ribbed Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer (GFRP) reinforcing bars and concrete. The equation recommended by ACI 440-1R-06, for the bond stress, was evaluated in this study. A total of 16 pullout samples, 12with GFRP bars and 4with steel bars, were exposed to two different harsh environments for different periods of time. The exposed harsh environments included direct sun exposure and cyclic splash zone sea water. The variation in the shear (bond) strengths before and after exposure was considered as a measure of the durability of the bond between GFRP bars and concrete.Experimental results showed there is no significant difference of the bond strength between 60 and 90 days of exposures. It also showed that the empirical equation of the bond stress calculated by ACI 440-IR-06 is very conservative.

  • Four models in current use for cereal grain drying, equilibrium model, Morey model, partial differential equation model and simplified partial differential equation model, were modified to be suitable for natural air drying of barley. The predicted by the four models and experimental results were compared. Three models except equilibrium model predicted moisture comtent and grain temperature very well. But equilibrium model overpredicted moisture content and grain temperature of bottom layer. The degree of prediction of the four models for relative humidities of exhaust air didn't differ much from one another and equally the four models predicted relative humidity statisfatorily. Morey model took much shorter computing time than any other models. Therefore, considering the degree of prediction and computing time Morey model was the most suitable for natural air drying of barley.

  • The cure kinetics of a cycloalipatic epoxy / anhydride / Co(II) system for a no-flow underfill encapsulant, has been studied by using a differential scanning calorimetry(DSC) under isothermal and dynamic conditions over the temperature range of $160^{\circ}C ~220^{\circ}C$. The kinetic analysis was carried out by fitting dynamic/isothermal heating experimental data to the kinetic expressions to determine the reaction parameters, such as order of reaction and reaction constants. Diffusion-controlled reaction has been observed as the cure conversion increases and successfully analyzed by incorporating the diffusion control term into the rate equation. The prediction of reaction rates by the model equation corresponded well to experimental data at all temperature.

  • In this work, the solid-liquid equilibria (SLE) of some aromatic organic mixtures including benzene, widely used as an industrial solvent, were measured by static method using our own made experimental apparatus. The accuracy and reproducibility of apparatus were tested by comparing experimental results with literature values for 1-dodecanol+cyclohxane and benzene + p-xylene systems. The SLE for new binary systems of benzene+aniline, benzene+nitrobenzene, p-xylene+cyclohexane were measured afterwards and compared with the calculated values by modified UNIFAC(Dortmund) equation.

  • In this paper, 2-D experiment and steady-state computational fluid analysis were conducted for measuring the hear transfer coefficient of pintle type controllable thruster in high pressure and temperature. In case of 2-D experiment, transient liquid crystal technique was used for measuring heat transfer coefficient for the 2-D pintle model. The experimental result was used to validate the CFD result. The CFD results well predicted the heat transfer coefficient on the pintle surface except the nozzle downstream region, where the results by CFD was higher than experimental results. The CFD results were also compared with the result by Bartz equation and the it was shown that the Bartz equation overestimated the heat transfer coefficient on the nozzle throat as much as 80%.

  • The biosorption of dye, Rhodamine B(Rh-B), onto waste activated sludge was investigated. The biosorption capacity and contact time were shown as a simulation of dye adsorption equilibrium and kinetics models. We observed that biosorption of Rh-B occurred rapidly less than 4 hr. These experimental data could be better fitted by a pseudo-second-order rate equation than a pseudo-first-order rate equation. The equilibrium dependence between biosorption capacity and initial concentration of Rh-B was estimated and it was found that the equilibrium data of biosorption were fitted by four kinds of model such as Langmuir, Freundlich, Redlich-Peterson, and Koble-Corrigan model. The average percentage errors, $\varepsilon(\%)$, observed between experimental and predicted values by above each model were $21.19\%,\;9.97\%,\;10.10\%\;and\;11.76\%$, respectively, indicating that Freundlich and Redlich-Peterson model could be fitted more accrately than other models.

  • The nonlinear vibration of moving viscoelastic belts excited by the eccentricity of pulleys is investigated through experimental and analytical methods. Laboratory measurements demonstrate the nonlinearities in the responses of the belt particularly in the resonance region and with the variation of tension, The measurements of the belt motion are made using noncontact laser sensors. Jump and hysteresis phenomenon are observed experimentally and were studied with a model. which considers the nonlinear relation of belt stretch. An ordinary differential equation is derived as a working form of the belt equation of motion, Numerical results show good agreements with the experimental observations, which demonstrates the nonlinearity of viscoelastic moving belts.
