  • This study is concerned with the functional utility of movement in sleeve from an ergonomic viewpoint. Experiments were carried out which include 43 upper extremity segments, 21 motions and 35 female subjects. The major conclusions of the study are. 1. The expansion rate of upper extremity was higher in length than in circumference mesurements. The amounts of expansion were, especially high (more than 60mm) for inner arm length, axillary arm circumference, and outer arm length. Therefore, a lot of ease is necessary for these parts. On the other hand, armhole circumference, forearm circumference, and wrist circumference had low rates of expansion. The sleeve cap length was also contracted in all motions. 2. The expansion rate and the range of expansion and contraction were higher in the upper arm than in the forearm. The main points of expansion were the axillary and elbow parts. The segment of maximum expansi (rate of 44.8%) was Iii of axillary parts. As the body surface expands mainly in some segments, it is desirable to allow ease to the main segments of expansion. 3. In a basic sleeve, necessary ease was lacking in the measurements for outer arm length and axillary arm circumference, while it was too large in armhole circumference, forearm circumference, wrist circumference, and sleeve cap length. Therefore, a basic sleeve is inadequate as a functional sleeve for hard work in point of functional utility of movement. Wider application of these findings would lead to an improvement in the comfort of workers.

  • Cold expansion method is used to protect a fatigue fracture from fastener hole in the structure and aerospace industry. Cold expansion is that an oversized tapered mandrel goes through the hole and produces a compressive residual stress as well as plastic deformation around the hole. Here, mandrel shapes are one of the factors which are influenced on the residual stress distribution by cold expansion method. This paper, according to mandrel shapes (diameter of mandrel, length of mandrel and length of taper), we are performed a finite element analysis of residual stress distribution by cold expansion method. From this study, it has been found that diameter of mandrel and length of taper are an important factor which was generated a low compressive residual stress surround of fastener hole by cold expansion method.

  • This study is to research on the rate of expansion or contraction according to movement of the lower body of the man their twenties using Rapid Form software. And aim of this study is to get information of ease allowance in developing slacks pattern using 3D body surface scan data through comparison with existing slacks patterns. Considering on the contraction and expansion according to movement, it need to set the more ease allowance in hip circumference than waist circumference, and the more ease allowance in back hip width than front hip width in slacks. In crotch length, the length of front crotch is revealed contraction but the length of back crotch is revealed expansion. It is desirable lowering front waist line and raising back waist line to possess ease allowance in back crotch area. The length of side seam is revealed a little expansion but the length of inseam is showed a great expansion. To develop slacks pattern of scientific approach using 3D body surface scan data, it need to analysis the rate of expansion and contraction of the lower body based on the movement, shear deformation, slip in fabrics and skin, or in fabrics and fabrics, and slip down from waist line.

  • Objective: This study aimed to analyze the effect of changing various parameters of the bone-borne rapid palatal expander (RPE) using the finite element method (FEM). Methods: In eight experimental groups, we investigated the effect of the number, position, and length of miniscrews; positional changes of the expander; and changes in the hook length on maxillary expansion. In finite element analysis, we compared the magnitude and distribution of stress, and the displacement changes following expansion of the bone-borne RPE. Results: When we compared the number and position of miniscrews, placing miniscrews in the anterior and posterior sides was advantageous for maxillary expansion in terms of stress distribution and displacement changes. Miniscrew length did not significantly affect stress distribution and displacement changes. Furthermore, anteroposterior displacement of the expander did not significantly affect transverse maxillary expansion but had various effects on vertical changes of the maxilla. The maxilla rotated clockwise when the miniscrews were placed in the anterior region. The hook length of the expander did not show consistent results in terms of changes in stress distribution and magnitude or in displacement changes. Conclusions: The findings of this study suggest that changes in the location and length of the miniscrews and displacement of the bone-borne RPE could affect the pattern of the maxillary expansion, depending on the combination of these factors.

  • Currently, in the design criteria for the high speed railway bridges, the maximum distance between bridge expansion joint is limited to 80m using a continuous welded mil, in order to limit the additional stress in the rail due to the rail-bridge interaction. In the past study on the resonance effect of HSR train, it is known that the reduction of resonance and dynamic responses of bridge deck occurs at the specific expansion length of 28.05m and 46.75m. In this study, the stability of track structure on the HSR bridges with expansion length of 90m has checked by finite element method. And the track behavior including mil stresses and relative displacements are compared to the current state of track structures on the bridge system with 80m long expansion length.

  • The functional problems of the basic pattern of clothing are a matter of the first importance to clothing construction. Therefore, the ergonomic analysis of the expansion and contraction of the upper body surface, due to motion, has become required. thus in order to obtain the measurements and rate of expansion and contraction of the upper body surface following from its motions, the development figure of " Shell" and somatometry were employed. The results obtained through the investigation can be summarized as follows : 1) According to the developmental figures of "Shell" the latitudes centering around the shoulder line present contractive tendencies by arm movement. The longitudes around the center back waist length are expansive tendencies when bent forward. In the case of a 15$^{\circ}$ lean backward posture, the longitudes around the center front waist length are expansive tendencies. 2) By somatometry, the region from the scapula to the axilla point the upper back with presents the greatest expansion (more than 30%). The region from scapla to arm presents the maximum rate of contraction. In considering the longitude , under the axilla waist length and the bust point waist length generally shows the greatest rate of expansion. 3) The bust point waist length and under the axilla waist length are of great importance to the basic pattern of clothing. and have expansive tendencies(6.3cm). Among the latitudes, the upper back width has the greatest tendency for expansion (7.83 cm). 4) The region which presents the greatest rate of the expansion and contraction is in the proximity of the arm. These results testify that the amount of room of the back width must be given consideration in constructing the basic pattern of clothing.pattern of clothing.

  • For efficient implementation of scalar multiplication in Kobliz elliptic curves, Frobenius endomorphism is useful. Instead of binary expansion of scalar, using Frobenius expansion of scalar we can speed up scalar multiplication and so fast scalar multiplication is closely related to the expansion length of integral multipliers. In this paper we propose a new idea to reduce the length of Frobenius expansion of integral multipliers of scalar multiplication, which makes speed up scalar multiplication. By using the element whose norm is equal to a prime instead of that whose norm is equal to the order of a given elliptic curve we optimize the length of the Frobenius expansion. It can reduce more the length of the Frobenius expansion than that of Solinas, Smart.

  • A load effect by vehicles running on a road and an increase of traffic is distinguished as a serious issue in the level of bridges' maintenance and management since it causes a quick damage of bridges. The expansion joint is the most important since it makes vehicles' traveling amicable and stress or additional load harmful to molding patterns minimized. However, it is very difficult to measure its expansion length since vehicles continue to pass on the expansion joint. Therefore, the study could see that it was possible to carry out a qualitative and quantitative maintenance and management if its expansion length is extracted with images. The study could acquire three dimensional coordinates of expansion joints with images. As the results of calculating RMSE of check point residual at 32 points in A area and at 28 points in B area, both A and B areas had very good results of RMSEsms 0.829mm~1.680mm. As the results of analyzing expansion length and immediate value extracted by images, the study analyzed that RMSE of A area was 0.64mm and RMSE of B area was 0.28. The average residual of A area was 0.60% and the average rresidual of B area was 0.27%. Therefore, it is judged that it is more scientific and efficient than the past to measure expansion length with images at the time of repairing and managing bridges in the future.

  • In this study, by determining lower limb movements which cause significant changes in body surface lines, body parts with the greatest maximum expansion and contraction rate respectively were illustrated in descending order. Using unmarried female university students aged 18 - 24 as subjects, a total of 32 body surface categories (15 body surface lines and 17 body surface segment lines) were measured in one static and 9 movement poses. In particular, expansion and contraction levels and rates were measured and used in the analysis. The analysis first involved the calculation of the average measurement per body part in body surface line in static pose as well as of the average expansion and contraction levels and rates in 9 lower limb movements. Two-way MANOVA and multiple comparison analysis (Tukey) were conducted on movements and individual somatotypes regarding measurement per body part and expansion and contraction rates. Movements which cause measurements of body surface lines differed significantly in body surface line in static pose versus in movement were then identified. Among average expansion and contraction rates in such movements, maximum average expansion and contraction levels, maximum average expansion and contraction rate, and classes of expansion and contraction rate were determined per body part. The results of this study are as follows. First, 5 lower limb movements; F2, F5, F6, F7, F8, which caused significant changes in body surface lines were determined and illustrated in table 4. Second, the levels, rates, and classes of expansion and contraction rate per body part are illustrated in Tables 5 and 6. Body parts with the greatest maximum expansion rate were, in descending order: upper segment of center back leg line, upper segment of inner leg line, middle segment of center front leg line, posterior crotch length, anterior knee girth, anterior thigh girth, center back leg line, girth at crotch height, anterior midway thigh girth, hip girth, anterior crotch length, knee girth, waist girth, inner leg line, thigh girth, and crotch length. Those with the greatest maximum contraction rate were, in descending order: anterior crotch length, upper segment of center front leg line, lower segment of center back leg line, center front leg line, and posterior thigh girth. The maximum expansion rates and maximum contraction rates, which ranged from 2.05 to $35.95\%$ and from -0.20 to $-30.16\%$ respectively, were classified per body part into 4 ABCD classes. The body part with maximum expansion was the upper segment of the center back leg line at vertical body surface line, expanding by $35.95\%$ or 16.03cm in F5 flexion movement. In contrast, the body part with maximum contraction was the anterior crotch length at vertical body surface line, contracting by $-30.16\%$ or -10.54cm in F5 flexion movement. Both, however, were the body parts to expand or contract the most among all horizontal and vertical body surface lines.

  • The puropose of this study was to investigate the movement-fitness according to the surface changing of lower limb The experimental items were divided into the lower limb movements (5) and body-shapes (7). This study was done by the expansion and contraction rate consideration of length, girth Also, the lower half of body shape-change on the movements and body-shapes by flat shell was done simultaneously. The summarized findings resulted from experiments and investigation are suggested as follows; First, when commpared the expansion and contraction rate of the length and girth items, the expansion rate of the back crotch length (14~20%), hip girth (10~ 21%) and knee girth (6.2~18.5%) in rabbit leap movement was the most notable among all variables considered in this experimentation. On the others hand, the front croth length (-22~-52%) contracted remarkably. And big-thigh type was the most notable on the body-shape comparision. Second, in comparision of the expansion and contraction rate of the area on the blocks, the expansion of the hip (50~200%) and knee (51~74%) block was the most remarkable. Especially, in the sit on knees movement of the hip-down type expanded 209.4%. Third, in comparision of the lower half of body shape-change, on the movements and body- shapes by the flat shell, under the influence of knee-joint and hip-joint the shape-changs of the hip and knee block was the most notable. But the shape-change of the waist, abdomen, calf, and ankle was feeble.
