Objective: This study is designed to investigate the effect of ankle joint position on hip extensor muscle activity when bridging exercise in sagittal plane. Design: Cross-sectional study Methods: The subjects were recruited from 20 healthy adult men. The subjects performed three types of bridging exercises (normal bridging, ankle dorsiflexion bridging, ankle plantar flexion bridging) three times for five seconds with a rest of 15 seconds between measurements and two minutes of rest between each motion. The target muscles were the gluteus maximus, biceps femoris, soleus, and tibialis anterior. A surface electromyography was used to measure the muscle activity of these muscles. Results: The results show there was no statistically significant difference between the three types of exercise in the gluteus maximus muscle activity. However, the biceps femoris showed a significant difference between the three types of exercises (p<0.05). Conclusions: In conclusion, when the three different bridging exercises were performed by adding ankle motion to normal bridging exercise, there was a significant difference in the muscle activity of the gluteus maximus relative to the biceps femoris muscle activity in the order of the ankle dorsiflexion bridging, normal bridging, and ankle plantar flexion bridging exercise. Therefore, this could be an effective option for a bridging exercise if applied to patients with a weak gluteal muscle and shortening of the hamstring muscle in further studies.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of the hip positions in frontal plane on abdominal muscle activities during bridging exercise. Twenty six subjects who have healthy conditions were asked to perform bridging exercise in three starting positions which are hip abduction, neutral and hip adduction. We used surface electromyography to compare the activities of both external oblique, internal oblique and rectus abdominis muscle. We analyzed the data by using repeated one way ANOVA, The alpha level was set at 0.05. The results showed that the muscle activities of both sides of external oblique, and internal oblique were significantly different among three starting positions. The activity of both sides of rectus abdominis were insignificantly different among three positions. The muscle activities of both sides of external oblique muscle and left internal oblique in bridging exercise with hip adduction position were significantly greater than hip neutral positions. The muscle activity of right internal oblique in bridging exercise with hip abduction positions. Our results suggest that bridging exercise with hip adduction position is recommended to lumbar stabilization exercise and the factor of hip position is important for controlling exercise intensity when designing bridging exercise program.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the most effective exercise position of Latissimus dorsi's activities during Pull up, Push up and Lat pull down among few positions of hand grips(pronation, Supination and neutral grip) and grip widths(30cm, 60cm) based on EMG activities. Method: 10 healthy adults were participated in this study and the surface EMG activities of the Latissimus dorsi were measured during Pull up, Push up and Lat pull down exercise according to specific hand grip and grip width positions. The maximum and mean value of Latissimus dorsi's EMG activities at all positions were recorded and analysed by ONE-WAY REAPTED ANOVA. Results: The showed that the most Latissimus dorsi's activities is during Pull up exercise. Main results are as follows 1)maximum value: For Pull up, among all studied positions, Rt Latissumus dorsi, position of Supinated grip and 60cm grip width showed strongest muscle activation based on maximum EMG value. Statistical significance was assumed at p<.05. 2)mean value: For Pull up, among all studied positions, Both Latissimus dorsi, position of pronated grip and 60cm grip width showed strongest muscle activation based on mean EMG value. Statistical significance was assumed at p<.05. Conclusion: Therefore, taking the results of this study, Pull up exercise would be the best exercise of Latissimus dorsi's activation. It is recommended to do in pronated grip position and 60cm grip width during Pull up to make body fit.

Purpose: The pelvic tilting exercise is a well recognized rehabilitation maneuver. However, little information is available on the changes of lumbar segmental motion during pelvic tilting. This study was conducted to measure the kinematics of the pelvic tilting exercise on the supine and prone positions via fluoroscopy. Methods: A total of 10 female subjects were enrolled. During anterior, neutral, and posterior pelvic tilting, radiographs were taken in each exercise via fluoroscopy (ARCADIS Orbic, Siemens, USA). Images were sent to the picture archiving communication system (PACS), and the digitized images were analyzed using LabVIEW software (National Instruments, USA). Lumbosacral lordosis and the intervertebral body angle, intervertebral disc angle, and intervertebral displacement were analyzed. Results: The results of lumbar kinematic analysis during three tilting postures in the supine and prone positions demonstrated that lumbosacral lordosis and the intervertebral body angle and intervertebral disc angle were significantly higher when the pelvis was tilted anteriorly (p>0.05). However, there was no significant difference between anterior and neutral tilting in the intervertebral disc angle at the L3/4 level in the prone position (p>0.05), and there was no significant difference among tilting positions in intervertebral body displacement in the prone position (p>0.05). Conclusion: This study provides scientific evidence about the pelvic tilting exercise in lumbosacral segmental motion. Depending on the pelvic tilting exercise, kinematic changes were demonstrated in both positions, especially in the supine position. It is suggested that the supine position is effective for mobility, but it should be used carefully for the LBP (Low back pain) patient with hypermobility.

Purpose : The purpose of this study was to compare the Effects of Knee Extensor, Flexor Muscle Strength and Joint Position Sense in Squat Exercise on Variety Surface. Method : Subjuects were consisit of 30 male and female who had non disorder knee joint. we had devided 3 group(control group, balance pad group, and togu group) and we measured that knee joint $15^{\circ}/45^{\circ}$proprioception(position sense) and Peak Torque of knee extensor, flexor muslce at $60^{\circ}/sec$, $180^{\circ}/sec$ angular velocity. Result : First, knee joint $15^{\circ}$proprioception(position sense) of balance pad and togu group was significantly different after exercise(p<.05), but only balance pad group was significantly different at knee joint $45^{\circ}$. Second, knee extensor Peak Torque of balance pad and togu group was significantly different at $60^{\circ}/sec$, $180^{\circ}/sec$ angular velocity(p<.05). Third, knee flexor Peak Torque of balance pad and togu group was significantly different at $60^{\circ}/sec$, $180^{\circ}/sec$ angular velocity(p<.05). Conclusion : Squat exercises on the balance pad and togu were affects knee joint proprioception and muscle strength improvement. These results suggest that squat exercise on the unstable surface is effective for prevention of knee joint injury and functional activity.
Objective: The aim of this study was to evaluate the differences in muscle activity of hamstring muscle depending on the position of the feet during Swiss ball hamstring curl exercise. Method: Total of 15 male participants with no history of hamstring muscle injuries and musculoskeletal disorders in the past 6 months were participated in this study (Age: 29.27 ± 4.96 yrs, Height: 173.47 ± 5.18 cm, Body mass: 75.47 ± 12.50 kg). The muscle activation of semitendinosus and biceps femoris with four different feet positions including neutral stance, internal rotation, external rotation, and wide stance were measured during a Swiss ball hamstring curl exercise. For the analysis, the Swiss ball exercise movement comprised of 3 events (90°→ 0°→ 90°) based on the knee angle and 2 phases relative to the mechanism of muscle contraction (eccentric/concentric contraction). To pursue the study goal, an one-way ANOVA with repeated measures was performed with statistical significance as α = 0.05. Results: There was no statistically significant feet position effect found during the Swiss ball hamstring curl with eccentric contraction phase (p>.05). It is, however, semitendinosus showed an enhanced muscle activation in concentric contraction phase, displaying the highest muscle activity in wide stance and the lowest in external rotation (p<.05). Conclusion: Our findings suggest that this exercise can be beneficial in selectively training the semitendinosus. In other words, Swiss ball hamstring curls performed in wide stance strengthens semitendinosus, which improves the stability of knee and are effective in preventing knee injuries and reinforces rehabilitation.

Background: Exercise in the quadruped position is performed to improve body and shoulder stability. This study examined the muscle activity of the trunk muscles according to the distance of the weight shift when lifting one leg in the quadruped position. Methods: Ten healthy 20 to 40 years old males were tested as subjects. All subjects moved their body weight to 0, 5, and 10cm on the opposite side of the leg lifter while maintaining the quadruped position. The surface electrodes recorded the electromyography data during the one leg lifting. Results: As the weight shift distance was increased, there was a significant difference in muscle activity of both serratus anterior, multifidus and internal oblique muscles (p<.05). Left and right serratus anterior and right internal oblique were most activated when weight shift distance was 0cm (p<.05). Conclusion: Shoulder and lumbar stabilization exercises should be applied in the absence of a weight shift distance during quadruped exercise.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to assess how much neurac technic affects the stability muscles of the shoulder according to the supporting surface in crawling position. Method: 29 healthy adult males participated in this experiment. The experiment consists of 2 experimental groups and 1 control group. It is conducted for 3 weeks. Each group exercised for 7 seconds and then rested for 3 seconds. Using EMG, the average value of serratus anterior, upper trapezius, and lower trapezius was repeated three times. Experimental group 1 conducted push up plus exercise applied neurac technic with sling on unstable supporting surface. Experimental group 2 conducted push up plus exercise applied neurac technic with sling on stable supporting surface. Control group conducted the push up plus exercise on stable supporting surface. One-way ANOVA was used for statistical analysis. Result: It was noticeable that the result of Experimental group 1 affects stability muscles of more than Experimental group 2 and Control group. Conclusion: Push up plus position applied neurac technic with sling on unstable supporting surface was the most effective in activating the stability muscles of the shoulder.

This study is aimed to evaluate the effects of the educational program that is designed to help the patients of T.K.R.A. to improve their self-nursing ability. The research will show how well this program can contribute to raising of their adaptability of everyday life by decreasing the difficulties that the patients had before in their daily life. The sample persons for this research were 40 adult patients who had T.K.R.A. in our hospital, and the data were collected through the questionnaires which were given to them. For the surveying tool, Jette's scale was applied to measure the degree of uncomforting that the patients experienced in their daily life. The materials of report had been gathered from May 1st to December 10th. The collected data were analyzed with real numbers, percentage, average, the standard deviation, TorF test and Pearsons correlation. The results of this study can be summarized like follows: The survey of self-caring exercise part were processed with two groups containing experiment group and contrast group. The exercise which took the highest points in experiment group was repetition of stretching and bending knees with laid down position while taking a walk, repetition of stretching and bending knees with seated on chair position and repetition of stretching and bending knees with laid down position got high points in contrast group. There were distinctive differences in statistics between repetition of stretching and bending knees in laid down position and taking a walk. There was no significant statistical gap between the degrees of inconveniences of daily life that each two groups experienced when we compared the average of the two groups, but 12 out of 20 questions got considerable differences. According to common characters of self-caring, there was a distinctive gap in the group who left the hospital in 14days and the ones who spend more than 30 minutes with exercise. The patient group who left the hospital in fourteen days after T.K.R.A. spent more time doing self-caring exercise. In the relationship between common characters and the degree of difficulties of daily life, Exercising is effective and Spending more that 30 minutes for exercise showed visible differences. The patients who answered that exercise are effective and put more time for it experienced less pain in their everyday life. The data proved by Pearson's correlation showed the relationship between self- caring and the degree of pain of daily life. According to the result, the increasing of self-caring activities helped to down the degree of inconveniences of daily life. This data show that T.K.R.A. reduced self-caring exercise ability and daily life activities. Therefore, the medical staffs who would take care the T.K.R.A. patients should offer stable nursing through well scheduled and education materials for patients. It is also important to encourage the patients to participate to the exercise by showing them how exercise after T.K.R.A. The education program is expecting to guarantee not only the right of patients to get enough information but also effective result to decrease uncomfortable of daily life.
