아래등세모근 강화운동 시 어깨관절의 벌림 각도에 따라 둥근 어깨에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Shoulder Abduction Angles on Rounded Shoulders During Lower Trapezius Strengthening Exercise)

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to find out which shoulder abduction angle among the three representative angles of lower trapezius strengthening exercises most effectively improves rounded shoulder posture. Methods : Thirty-one people with rounded shoulders, the subjects of this study, were selected. With the use of a random number table, group A was randomly assigned to a Y-type exercise, group B to a T-type exercise, and group C to an MPC exercise. In the prone position, both arms are abducted at the angles suggested for each group (145 °, 90 °, and 45 °, respectively), and the hands are holding dumbbells to assume a functional posture. With the start signal, the thumb raised the arm to the sky and the arm is raised to the level of the ear for 10 seconds and then returned to the original position. Each week, the strength required was increased by changing the resistance weight, number of times, and set, and the exercise was performed three times a week for a total of four weeks. Results : There was a significant difference in the change in shoulder height of each group after four weeks of exercise in comparison to the amount of change in height before and after exercise in all groups (p<.05). However, no significant difference was observed between all groups in the change in muscle activity of the lower trapezius muscle in each group following four weeks of exercise (p>.05). Conclusion : The results of this study showed that the three lower trapezius strengthening exercises have a positive effect on the improvement of rounded shoulders. In consideration of these results, it is therefore proposed that the various lower trapezius strengthening exercises be applied in parallel during physical therapy for patients with rounded shoulders in clinical practice.

  • 이 연구는 여성노인의 낙상 예방을 위하여 요부안정화운동을 실시하고 요부 등척성 근력, 복횡근과 다열근의 근두께, 자세안정성의 변화를 측정하였다. 대상자는 광주광역시에 소재한 요양원에서 여성노인 21명을 대상으로 8주간 운동 후 요부 등척성 근력, 복횡근과 다열근의 근두께, 자세안정성을 비교하였다. 요부 등척성 근력은 페가수스 근력 측정장치(3D Pegasus system, Germany), 복횡근과 다열근의 근두께는 초음파영상 계측장치(Sonoace 6000C, Korea), 자세안정성은 BBS 균형측정장치(Biodex Balance System SD, USA)로 측정하고 분석하였다. 요부 등척성 근력 중 굴곡, 신전, 좌회전과 복횡근 이완(횡)두께는 운동 전보다 운동 후에 통계학적으로 유의하게 증가하였으며, 자세안정성변화에서 전체 좌우 전후균형지수 모두 운동 후 통계학적으로 유의하게 감소하였다. 요부안정화운동이 근력 및 자세안정성에 영향을 미쳐 여성노인의 낙상 예방에 효과적이다 라는 결론을 얻었다.

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of each lower trapezius muscle exercise performed according to the abduction position (Y type - shoulder joint abduction 145 °, T type - shoulder joint abduction 90 °, and MPC type - shoulder joint 45 ° abduction) of the shoulder joint on the muscle activity of the round shoulder and lower trapezius muscle. Methods : This study was conducted on 31 adult men and women. Through random assignment, they were assigned to the Y group, T group, and MPC group. A 4-week intervention was performed for each group of 31 subjects who participated in the experiment, and shoulder height and lower trapezius muscle activity were measured before and after the intervention. Shoulder height measurement is a test to measure rounded shoulder posture. When the value is low, it means that rounded shoulder posture is improved. The muscle activity of the lower trapezius muscle was measured using the %MVIC method, and when the value is high, it means that the lower trapezius muscle is active. All measured data were verified using dependent t-tests for before and after comparisons and one-way analysis of variance for comparisons between groups. Results : The results of this study showed a significant decrease after intervention only in shoulder height. Muscle activity of the lower trapezius muscle decreased after intervention, but did not show a significant difference. Both variables showed no significant differences between groups. Conclusion : The results of this study show that three lower trapezius muscle exercises were performed on subjects in rounded shoulder posture. All three groups showed a significant decrease in the shoulder height value, a method of measuring rounded shoulder posture, and no significant differences between groups could be confirmed. Therefore, all three exercises can be considered effective in reducing shoulder posture.

발목관절의 고유수용성 운동이 여성노인의 자세정렬에 미치는 영향 (The Effect of Proprioceptive Exercise of Ankle Joint on Postural Alignment in Woman Elderly Person)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of proprioceptive exercise on the body alignment of elderly women. Method: The experimental group consisted of twenty elderly women who participated in proprioceptive exercise for 8 weeks. The subjects were measured using Global Posture System equipment for assessing their body alignment. Body alignment was measured at the ear, shoulder joint, knee joint and calcaneocuboid joint on the sagittal plane, and the left and right acromion process positions, the ASIS and the medial malleoulus on the coronal plane. The body alignment data was used to assess the changes before and after proprioceptive exercise. The data of the experimental group was compared and analyzed using the Wilcoxon singed-rank test between before and after proprioceptive exercise. The Mann-Whithney test was used to compare the experimental group and the control group. Result: The result of this study was that the body alignment of the experimental group at the ear and knee joint on the sagittal plane was significantly in alignment with the line of gravity (p<0.05) before and after proprioceptive exercise. The body alignment was statistically different (p<0.05) between the experimental group and the control group on the frontal plane and sagittal plane. Conclusion: This study showed that proprioceptive exercise does affect the body alignment in elderly women. This indicates that there is interaction that plays a crucial role for proprioceptive stimuli and the body alignment.

The Effects of the Upright Body Type Exercise Program on Body Balance and Record of Archers

  • Objective: This study aimed to analyze how the upright body type exercise program affected body balance and record of archers. This study aimed to prove the effectiveness of upright body type exercise, on this basis, in enhancing the performance of archery players. Method: A total of 14 archers (7 men and 7 women) in B Metropolitan City who had ${\geq}4years$ of career in archery and were given explanation of its contents and purpose before giving spontaneous consent to the experiment were enrolled in the study. The upright body type exercise program was implemented thrice a week for 12 weeks, with higher exercise intensity with time. A resistive pressure sensor, Gaitview AFA-50, was used to measure the foot plantar pressure distribution and analyze quantitative information concerning variation in posture stability and weight shift in dynamic balance of foot plantar pressure in shooting and static balance of plantar pressure with the eyes open and closed and the change in archery record accompanying the change in body balance. Results: As for the differences in foot plantar pressure between before and after participation in the upright body type exercise program, there was no significant difference in static balance of foot plantar pressure with the eyes open, and there was statistically significant difference at the ${\alpha}=.05$ significance level in static balance of foot plantar pressure with the eyes closed or in dynamic balance of foot plantar pressure in shooting. There was statistically significant difference at the ${\alpha}=.05$ significance level in archery record. Conclusion: The upright body type exercise program had positive effects on static and dynamic balance of foot plantar pressure by allowing archers to experience less body sway and physical imbalance in shooting with closed eyes and positive effects on archery record. Thus, the program is expected to help archers correct their posture and perform better.

경추부위 멕켄지운동에 대한 연구 (A Study of the McKenzie Exercise of the Cervical : Systematic Review)

  • 본 연구에서는 경추부위 멕켄지운동에 관한 결과를 체계적 고찰함으로써 멕켄지 운동에 대한 근거를 마련하고자 하였다. 2015년부터 2021년 6월까지 출판된 국내논문을 대상으로 하였다. 논문의 검색을 위한 데이터베이스 검색엔진은 국내의 표적 검색원인 한국 학술정보와 한국교육학술정보원(KERIS)가 운영하는 학술연구정보서비스 RISS(http://www.riss4u.net)에서 인터넷을 통하여 실시하여 8편의 논문을 분석하였다. 본 연구에서 분석된 8편의 국내 논문은 실험군1을 포함하는 8편의 논문 중 맥켄지 운동을 적용한 논문은 4편, 어깨안정화 운동을 적용한 논문이 3편이었고, 멀리건 운동을 적용한 논문이 1편이었다. 실험군 2를 포함하는 6편의 논문 중 맥켄지 운동만 적용한 논문은 4편, 멀리건 운동을 함께 적용한 논문이 1편, 카이로프랙틱을 함께 적용한 논문이 1편이었다. 운동 효과를 평가한 관절가동범위에 관한 논문은 3편과 두개척추각을 평가한 관한 논문은 2편에서도 유의한 차이를 보였다. 경추 자세에 관한 논문은 1편과 거리 변화에 관한 논문은 1편에서 멕켄지 운동에 대한 효과를 보였다. 근활성도에 관한 논문은 4편 중 근육마다 멕켄지만 적용한 그룹보다 멕켄지와 다른 운동을 동시에 같이 시행한 실험군이 대조군에 비해 유의한 차이를 보였으며 통증에 관한 논문 4편에서도 멕켄지만 적용한 그룹보다 멕켄지와 다른 운동 특히 카이로프랙틱을 적용한 실험군이 대조군에 비해 유의한 차이를 보였다. 이에, 본 연구에서는 경추부위에 멕켄지 운동은 통증, 근활성도, 관절가동범위, 경추자세등에서 그 효과를 증명하였다.

Comparison of three different surface plank exercises on core muscle activity

  • Objective: This study compared the muscle activities of the erector spinae (ES), the external oblique (EO), and the rectus abdominis (RA) on three different surfaces. The purpose of this study was to determine which surface induces the highest muscle activity during the plank exercises. The information from this study can be used to recommend plank exercises to athletes and patients with weak core muscles. Design: Cross-sectional study. Methods: The subjects include 20 adult males attending S University in Seoul. Participants completed each plank exercise on three different surfaces. To measure muscle activities, researchers used the values from electromyography. The measurement excluded the initial two and final two seconds and collected information on the RA, EO, and ES in each posture of each subject. Results: The left external oblique showed significant differences between the plank position on stable ground (ST) and the plank position using a suspension device (SL) (p<0.05) and between the plank position on the unstable ground (US) and SL (p<0.05). The right rectus abdominis and left rectus abdominis displayed statistically significant differences between the ST and the US (p<0.05) and between the ST and the SL (p<0.05). The right erector spinae had a statistically significant difference between ST and US (p<0.05). Conclusions: The plank exercise strengthens the core muscles effectively, and muscle activity is related to the posture of the exercise and the location of the muscle. These results suggest that plank exercises improve muscle activities. Additionally, plank exercises can be applied to general medical care.

Effects of Myofascial Release and Posture Correction Exercise on the Neck Movement and the Quality of Sleep in Patients with Chronic Tension-Type Headaches

  • Background: Tension-type headaches, which make up the highest proportion of headaches, are prone to develop into chronic tension-type headaches (CTTH). The characteristic of CTTH in patients is that the active myofascial trigger point (ATrP) which causes pain in the muscles of the back of the head is increased, compared to the normal headache and moves the head position forward. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of myofascial release (MFR) and posture correction in effectively improving neck function and sleep quality in the symptoms of CTTH patients. Design: Observer-blind study Methods: To reduce ATrP, MFR was applied and exercise was also applied to correct posture. The subjects of this study were 48 individuals randomly divided into three groups; The MFR group using the MFR technique; The MFR with exercise group subject to both the MFR technique and forward head position correction exercises (MFREx), and the control group. MFR and MFREx groups were given the relevant interventions twice a week for four consecutive weeks, and went through the number ATrPs, range of motion (ROM) of neck, Neck Disability Index (NDI) and the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) before and after the intervention. A physical therapist, who was fully familiar with the measuring methods of the equipment, was the measurer and not aware of the target's condition was blinded to take measurements only before and after intervention. Results: There was a significant improvement in the ATrP, Neck ROM, NDI and PSQI in the group of patients to whom the MFR technique and MFREx were applied. MFREx was more effective in increasing neck mobility. Conclusions: According to this study, the application of MFR is effective in improving neck movement and sleep quality in chronic tension headache patients.

The Effects of Modified Chin Tuck Exercise on the Cervical Curvature, the Strength and Endurance of the Deep Cervical Flexor Muscles in Subjects with Forward Head Posture

  • Purpose : The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of chin tuck exercise (CTE) on the craniovertebral angle (CVA), strength and endurance of deep cervical flexor (DCF) muscles in subjects with forward head posture(FHP). This study was performed on 30 subjects with FHP. Method : Thirty subjects were divided into two groups; modified CTE (n=15), conventional CTE (n=15). Both of the group performed the exercise 4 times a week for 6 weeks. The subjects performed CTE in two different methods; modified CTE, with device designed that help keep cervical lordois curve, and coventional CTE, without using device. The CVA was measured using Image software version. A pressure biofeedback unit was used to measure the strength and endurance of the DCF muscles. The data was analyzed by the paired t-test for comparing before and after changes of variables in each group and the independent t-test for comparing the between groups. Result : There was statistically significant difference of before and after strength and endurance of DCF muscles in modified CTE (p<0.05). There was statistically significant difference of before and after only endurance of DCF muscles in conventional CTE (p<0.05). There was statistically significant difference of between the two group in strength of DCF muscles (p<0.05). Conclusion : Muscle strength to stabilize the spine plays an important role in maintaining a good posture. Therefore, we suggest that the application of CTE with a device designed to maintain the lordotic curvature in the neck is likely to yield better outcomes in FHP subjects in future studies.

딥러닝 기반 운동 자세 교정 시스템의 성능 (Performance of Exercise Posture Correction System Based on Deep Learning)

  • 최근 COVID-19로 인해 홈 트레이닝의 관심도가 증가하고 있다. 이에 따라 HAR(human activity recognition) 기술을 홈 트레이닝에 적용한 연구가 진행되고 있다. 기존 HAR 분야의 논문에서는 동적인 자세보다는 앉기, 일어서기와 같은 정적인 자세들을 분석한다. 본 논문은 동적인 운동 자세를 분석하여 사용자의 운동 자세 정확도를 보여주는 딥러닝 모델을 제안한다. AI hub의 피트니스 이미지를 blaze pose를 사용하여 사람의 자세 데이터를 분석한다. 3개의 딥러닝 모델: RNN(recurrnet neural networks), LSTM(long short-term memory networks), CNN(convolution neural networks)에 대하여 실험을 진행한다. RNN, LSTM, CNN 모델의 f1-score는 각각 0.49, 0.87, 0.98로 CNN 모델이 가장 적합하다는 것을 확인하였다. 이후 연구로는, 다양한 학습 데이터를 사용하여 더 많은 운동 자세를 분석할 예정이다.
