The extended Theory of Planned Behavior in explaining exclusive breastfeeding intention and behavior among women in Kelantan, Malaysia

  • BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES: The purpose of this study is to utilize an extended Theory of Planned Behavior in identifying predictors of exclusive breastfeeding intention and behavior among women in Kelantan, Malaysia. SUBJECTS/METHODS: A prospective cohort study was conducted, recruiting pregnant womenthrough two-stage cluster sampling. Their exclusive breastfeeding intention, attitude, perceived norm, perceived behavioral control and past behavior were obtained at baseline through interviewer-guided questionnaire. At one month after delivery, another interview was conducted to determine the two additional variables in the extended theory, which were their postpartum support and breastfeeding difficulty. The behavior, which was the actual duration of exclusive breastfeeding, was obtained from the second follow-up at six months. Pearson correlation and two hierarchical regression analyses were conducted. RESULTS: A total of 200 women completed the study follow-up. Their median intended exclusive breastfeeding duration was 4.0 (IQR 5) months, and the median actual duration was 1.0 (IQR 4) month. The Theory of Planned Behavior explained 51.0% of the variance in intention, with perceived behavioral control and attitude were the significant predictors. It also explained 10.0% of the variance in behavior, but the addition of postpartum support and breastfeeding difficulty increased the amount of explained variance in behavior by 6.0%. The significant predictors of exclusive breastfeeding behavior were intention, postpartum support and breastfeeding difficulty. CONCLUSION: The extended Theory of Planned Behaviorhad a good predictive ability in explaining exclusive breastfeedingintention and behavior. The women's intention to practice exclusive breastfeeding may be improved by improving their perceived behavioral control and attitude. Providing correct postpartum support and skills to handle breastfeeding difficulties after delivery will improve their exclusive breastfeeding behavior.

  • This study will explain the determinants factors that can increase donation behavior in public funding. The originality of this study is the use of Agreeableness Personality and Social Exclusive as predictors in Theory of Planned Behavior. Besides that, this study involves Attitude, Perceived Behavioral Control, Religiosity, Intention to Donate, and Donation Behavior. The population of this research is all people registered as active participants of BPJAMSOSTEK in East Java Province, of which 400 people are used as samples. The data analysis method used to test the hypothesis is SEM, which was conducted by utilizing the WarpPLS 6.0 software. The study found that Agreeableness Personality significantly had a positive effect on Attitude and Perceived Behavior Control, while Social Exclusive only significantly had a positive effect on Perceived Behavior Control. Attitude and Perceived Behavior Control influence the Intention to Donate positively, then consequently had a positive effect on Donation Behavior. Religiosity tends to strengthen the influence of the Intention to Donate to Donation Behavior. To improve donation behavior in the general public, BPJAMSOSTEK must organize a form of labor protection efforts to bring prosperity to all workers in Indonesia.

항공사 유지자산이 고객의 긍정적·배타적 행동의도에 미치는 영향 (The Impact of Airline's Retention Equity on Customer Positive·Behavior Intention)

  • 본 연구는 최근 급변하고 있는 국내 항공운송시장에서 항공사 유지자산이 항공여행객들의 긍정적 배타적 행동의도에 미치는 영향력을 평가하고, 고객이탈을 최소화할 수 있는 유지기반의 주요 변인들을 도출하는데 목적이 있다. 먼저 실증분석을 위해 인천국제공항과 김포공항에서 국적항공사를 이용하는 내국인 항공여행객들을 대상으로 서베이를 실시하였고, 수집된 자료 480부에 대해 SPSS 통계패키지의 다중회귀분석을 실시하였다. 그 결과 항공사 충성도 프로그램, 특별우대와 인정프로그램, 커뮤니티 프로그램은 모두 긍정적 행동의도에 유의한 영향을 미쳤다. 그러나 배타적 행동의도에 대해서는 특별우대와 인정프로그램, 커뮤니티 프로그램만이 유의한 영향을 미치고 있었다. 연구결과는 특별우대와 인정프로그램, 커뮤니티 프로그램이 충성도 프로그램보다 항공사 전환 장벽으로서 더 높은 영향력을 가지고 있음을 시사한다. 본 연구는 심화된 경쟁시장에서 고객유지를 극대화할 수 있는 유지자산의 변인들을 도출하고 전략적 우선순위를 실증 규명하였다는 데에 연구의 학문적 실무적 의의를 가진다.

초산모의 모유수유행위 구조모형 (A Structural Model for Primiparas' Breastfeeding Behavior)

  • Purpose: The study was done to construct and test a structural model to explain primipara breastfeeding behavior. Methods: The participants were 213 primiparas on postpartum wards. Data were analyzed using the PASW 18.0 and AMOS 19.0 programs. Results: Fitness statistics for the hypothetical model were appropriate ($x^2$=38.50, p=.070, GFI=.96, RMSEA=.05, AGFI=.93, NFI=.95, TLI=.97, CFI=.98, PNFI=.57, $x^2/df$=1.43). Breastfeeding behaviors were directly influenced by intention to breastfeed, perceived effectiveness of breastfeeding, and the amount of supplementary feeding. The amount of supplementary feeding had the largest direct impact on breastfeeding behavior. The largest total effect on breastfeeding behavior was intention to breastfeed. The environment of the maternity hospital indirectly influenced breastfeeding behavior. These factors explained 18.9% of variance in the primipara breastfeeding behavior. Conclusion: The results of the study indicate that in order to promote primipara breastfeeding the amount of supplementary feeding immediately after the birth should be limited and an environment that encourages exclusive breastfeeding in the hospital should be provided. The results also suggest it is necessary to provide nursing interventions that increase the intention to breastfeed and the perceived effectiveness of breastfeeding.

영업사원 직무만족도의 선행변수와 결과변수 사이의 인과관계에 관한 연구 - 리더의 지원 능력과 조직시민행동을 중심으로 - (Research on the Antecedent and Consequences of Salesperson Job Satisfaction - Focused on Leadership and Organizational Citizenship -)

  • 본 연구는 Brown과 Peterson(1993)의 메타 분석에서 자료의 부족으로 실증하지 못했던 리더의 지원 역량을 직무 만족도의 선행 변수로 제안하였고 기존 조직 문헌에서 활발히 연구되었던 조직시민 행동을 직무 만족도와 관련된 인과 관계 모형에서 새로운 결과 변수로 제안하였다. 연구 모델에 대한 분석 결과 6개의 가설중 조직시민행동과 정착의향 관계에 관한 가설을 제외하고 모두 지지되었다. 이러한 실증 결과를 통해서 조직 문헌에서 많이 연구되었던 조직시민행동은 영업사원 직무 만족도의 결과 변수이지만 영업 사원의 정착 의향과는 직접적인 관련성이 없음이 밝혀졌다. 또한 Brown 과 Peterson(1993)의 실증 연구에서 직무 만족도의 선행 요인이었던 역할 모호성처럼 리더의 지원역량 변수도 조직 몰입이나 조직시민행동에 직접적인 영향을 주기 보다 직무 만족도를 통해 간접적인 영향을 주는 것으로 확인되었다. 연구 결과 회사가 영업 사원들의 정착율을 높이기 위해 신경을 써야 하는 관리 변수는 직무 만족도와 조직에 대한 몰입인 것으로 나타났다. 특히 조직에 대한 몰입은 회사에 대한 정착 의향 뿐아니라 주변 사람들에게 바람직한 시민행동을 발휘하게 하므로 단기적 정착 지표 뿐아니라 장기적인 조직 활성화를 이끌어낼 수 있다는 점에서 회사가 더욱 관심있게 관리해야 할 선행 지표라고 판단된다.
