The accurate peak response estimation of a seismically excited structure with frictional damping system(FDS) is very difficult since the structure with FDS shows nonlinear behavior dependent on the structural period, loading characteristics, and relative magnitude between the frictional force and the excitation load. Previous studies have estimated that by replacing a nonlinear system with an equivalent linear one or by employing the response spectrum obtained based on nonlinear time history and statistical analysis. In the case that an earthquake load is defined with probabilistic characteristics, the corresponding response of the structure with FDS has probabilistic distribution. In this study, nonlinear time history analyses were performed for the structure with FDS subjected to artificial earthquake loads generated using Kanai-Tajimi filter. An equation for the probability density function (PDF) of the displacement response is proposed by adapting the PDF of the normal distribution. Finally, coefficients of the proposed PDF are obtained by regression analysis of the statistical distribution of the time history responses. Finally the correlation between PDFs and statistical response distribution is presented.
A method was developed and fully validated for the determination of terbutaline, a β2-receptor agonist, in human plasma. Plasma samples were prepared by solid-phase extraction with Sep-Pak silica, followed by high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). The terbutaline was pre-separated from the interfering components in plasma on a Luna C18 (2) column, and terbutaline and salbutamol as an internal standard were resolved and determined on a Luna Silica column. The two columns were connected by a switching valve equipped with silica pre-column. The pre-column was used to concentrate the terbutaline in the eluent from the C18 column before back-flushing onto the silica column with fluorescence detection at an excitation/emission wavelength of 276/306 nm. The method was shown to be specific by testing six different human plasma sources. Linearity was established for a concentration range of 0.4-20.0 ng/mL with a correlation coefficient of 0.9999. The lower limit of quantitation was 0.4 ng/mL with a precision of 10.1% as C.V.%.
Viable potential of Mycobacterium smegmatis, a slow grower in vitro cultivation and of M. leprae, an obligate intracellular parasitic bacterium, which can not be cultured yet in vitro was assessed by fluorospectrophotometry. Bacterial cells in different numbers and under various physiological status were incubater with fluorescein diacetate(FDA). After an incubation of the bacterial preparations with FDA at specified conditions, amount of fluorescein inside bacteria was measured by a fluorospectrophotometer at 470nm and 510nm of excitation and emission wavelengths, respectively. Fluorounit given by such bacteria showed a correlation with assessment of viability of the same preparations made by other methods, such as optical density and colony forming units of M. smegmatis and intracellular ATP content of M. leprae. The possible use of fluorospectrophotometry in assessing viability or physiological potential of bacteria, particularly intracellular parasites and fastidious organisms to culture in vitro is discussed in relation to other methods.

In this study, analytical and experimental modal analyses of a scaled bridge model are carried out to extract the dynamic characteristics such as natural frequency, mode shapes and damping ratios. For this purpose, a scaled bridge model is constructed in laboratory conditions. Three dimensional finite element model of the bridge is constituted and dynamic characteristics are determined, analytically. To identify the dynamic characteristics experimentally; Experimental Modal Analyses (ambient and forced vibration tests) are conducted to the bridge model. In the ambient vibration tests, natural excitations are provided and the response of the bridge model is measured. Sensitivity accelerometers are placed to collect signals from the measurements. The signals collected from the tests are processed by Operational Modal Analysis; and the dynamic characteristics of the bridge model are estimated using Enhanced Frequency Domain Decomposition and Stochastic Subspace Identification methods. In the forced vibration tests, excitation of the bridge model is induced by an impact hammer and the frequency response functions are obtained. From the finite element analyses, a total of 8 natural frequencies are attained between 28.33 and 313.5 Hz. Considering the first eight mode shapes, these modes can be classified into longitudinal, transverse and vertical modes. It is seen that the dynamic characteristics obtained from the ambient and forced vibration tests are close to each other. It can be stated that the both of Enhanced Frequency Domain Decomposition and Stochastic Subspace Identification methods are very useful to identify the dynamic characteristics of the bridge model. The first eight natural frequencies are obtained from experimental measurements between 25.00-299.5 Hz. In addition, the dynamic characteristics obtained from the finite element analyses have a good correlation with experimental frequencies and mode shapes. The MAC values obtained between 90-100% and 80-100% using experimental results and experimental-analytical results, respectively.
Nowadays, there are a great number of various structures that have been retrofitted by using different FRP Composites. Due to this, more researches need to be conducted to know more the characteristics of these structures, not only that but also a comparison among them before and after the retrofitting is needed. In this research, a model steel structure is tested using a bench-scale earthquake simulator on the shake table, using recorded micro tremor data, in order to get the dynamic behaviors. Beams of the model steel structure are then retrofitted by using CFRP composite, and then tested on the Quanser shake table by using the recorded micro tremor data. At this stage, it is needed to evaluate the dynamic behaviors of the retrofitted model steel structure. Various types of methods of OMA, such as EFDD, SSI, etc. are used to take action in the ambient responses. Having a purpose to learn more about the effects of FRP composite, experimental model analysis of both types (retrofitted and no-retrofitted models) is conducted to evaluate their dynamic behaviors. There is a provision of ambient excitation to the shake table by using recorded micro tremor ambient vibration data on ground level. Furthermore, the Enhanced Frequency Domain decomposition is used through output-only modal identification. At the end of this study, moderate correlation is obtained between mode shapes, periods and damping ratios. The aim of this research is to show and determine the effects of CFRP Composite implementation on structural responses of the model steel structure, in terms of changing its dynamical behaviors. The frequencies for model steel structure and the retrofitted model steel structure are shown to be 34.43% in average difference. Finally, it is shown that, in order to evaluate the period and rigidity of retrofitted structures, OMA might be used.
A high-performance liquid chromatographic method was validated for quantitation of nadolol in human plasma. Nadolol and internal standard, pindolol, were extracted with tert-butyl methyl ether after addition of 10 M sodium hydroxide solution. The analytes were separated on a reverse phased C18 column using a mobile phase consisting of 0.05 M ammonium phosphate monobasic buffer, acetonitrile and methanol (81: 17:2 v/v/v) and detected using a fluorescence detector (excitation wavelength 230 nm, emission wavelength 294 nm). The method was specific and sensitive enough to detect as low as 3 ng/mL of nadolol in human plasma. Linear calibration range was 3-150 ng/mL with correlation coefficient greater than 0.999. The overall accuracy was in the range of 96.8 to 103% and precision C.V.(%) 7.30 to 12.2%. The recovery was approximately 100% and stability was confirmed during storage and sample preparation. The present HPLC method was successfully applied to study bioavailability after oral administration of 80 mg of nadolol in healthy Korean subjects. The mean $AUC_{t}$ was $1968{\pm}397\;ng{\cdot}hr/mL$ and $C_{max}$ of $186{\pm}79.3\;ng/mL$ was reached at $3.5{\pm}0.76\;hr$. The mean $t_{1/2}$ of nadolol was $17.3{\pm}2.59\;hr$.

In the present study, nonlinear earthquake analysis was carried out for a steel girder bridge that had been damaged by the 1995 Kobe earthquake. For such analysis, the use of hysteretic models describing flexure-axial and shear-axial interaction was suggested. The models were incorporated into a structural analysis program in terms of the joint elements representing hinge models, and then a simplified analysis scheme using the hinge models was employed for bridge piers. The analytical predictions of the flexure-axial interactive hinge model show a good correlation with those of the detailed fiber element model. In addition, the analytical predictions of the flexure-shear-axial interactive hinge model enable a displacement component to be separately captured. It is thus recognized that the present study can be a useful scheme for the healthy evaluation of the global displacement performance of piers subjected to earthquake excitation.

We investigated the optical properties of Ge1-xSex and Ge1-x-ySexAsy amorphous semiconductor films using spectroscopic ellipsometry and Raman spectroscopy. The dielectric functions and absorption coefficients of the amorphous films were determined from the measured ellipsometric angles. We obtained the optical gap energies and Urbach energies from the absorption coefficients, and found a strong bowing effect in the optical gap energy of Ge1-x-ySexAsy where the endpoint binaries were Ge0.50Se0.50 and Ge0.31As0.69. Based on the correlation between optical gap energies and Urbach energies, the large bowing parameter was attributed to the electronic disorder. We found the composition dependence of several phonon modes using Raman spectroscopy. For Ge1-x-ySexAsy, the D mode (232-267 cm-1) changed from As-As (or As3 pyramid), to As(Se1/2)3 pyramid, and finally to Se clusters, as the Se composition increased. Resonant Raman phenomenon was observed in Ge0.38Se0.62 at a laser excitation of 514 nm (2.41 eV). We verified that this laser energy corresponds to the transition energy of Ge0.38Se0.62 using the second derivative of the dielectric function of Ge0.38Se0.62.

Sound packages and damping materials have been widely applied on the floor to decrease the interior noise of a vehicle. Based on the previous researches on the low-noise vehicles, weight optimization through minimization of damping material usage is required while decreasing mid and high frequency range noise by application of sound packages. This paper describes the analysis process of robust design of vehicle body structure before applying damping materials and focuses on the analysis and test process of the location optimization at the stage of damping material application. A vibration experiment for the analysis of floor panel velocity with respect to the excitation of suspension attachment parts at the underfloor of a vehicle is performed. And through the improvement correlation between FEA and TEST, a design guide to optimize damping materials application in the early design stage is proposed. A research on vibration damping steel sheets and liquid acoustic spray on deadener(LASD) is performed to minimize manufacturing time and to minimize the space for pre-existing asphalt damping materials. As results of this study, panel stiffness is achieved through curved surface panel and bead optimization. And test baseline of optimum design is suggested through damping material optimization. And finally, through re-establishing the analysis process for vibration reduction of vehicle floors and lightweight design of damping materials, it is possible to design damping materials efficiently in the preceding stage of design.
Pumps are essential machinery in the various industries. With the development of high-speed and large-scale pumps, especially high energy density, high requirements have been imposed on the vibration and noise performance of pumps, and cavitation is an important source of vibration and noise excitation in pumps, so it is necessary to improve pumps cavitation performance. The modern pump optimization design method mainly adopts parameterization and artificial intelligence coupling optimization, which requires direct correlation between geometric parameters and pump performance. The existing cavitation performance calculation method is difficult to be integrated into multi-objective automatic coupling optimization. Therefore, a fast prediction method for pump cavitation performance is urgently needed. This paper proposes a novel cavitation prediction method based on impeller pressure isosurface at single-phase media. When the cavitation occurs, the area of pressure isosurface Siso increases linearly with the NPSHa decrease. This demonstrates that with the development of cavitation, the variation law of the head with the NPSHa and the variation law of the head with the area of pressure isosurface are consistent. Therefore, the area of pressure isosurface Siso can be used to predict cavitation performance. For a certain impeller blade, since the area ratio Rs is proportional to the area of pressure isosurface Siso, the cavitation performance can be predicted by the Rs. In this paper, a new cavitation performance prediction method is proposed, and the feasibility of this method is demonstrated in combination with experiments, which will greatly accelerate the pump hydraulic optimization design.
