  • This study is on acoustic radiation efficiency of a tiffened cylindrical model in water-multi-excitation with phase difference using commercial numerical program ABAQUS and SYSNOISE. When the stiffened cylindrical model is under multi-excitation with phase difference, the surface vibration field is variated with phase difference of excitation. By this different surface vibration field, the acoustic radiation efficiency is also variated with phase difference of excitation.

  • This study presents the vibration excitation system to extract the aerodynamic stability derivatives which is generally called as flutter derivatives in civil engineering. The system consists of the excitation part to give a forced harmonic motion to the model and the sensing part to measure the aerodynamic forces as well as inertia forces acting on a bridge model. A data processing algorithm for extracting the flutter derivatives from the measured forces is also presented. From the wind tunnel tests, verification of present system was done by comparing the measured and analytical results for rectangular shaped model. The effects of excitation frequencies and amplitudes on flutter derivatives are discussed. Five kinds of actual bridge model were presented from the wind tunnel.

  • A new improved excitation control system for power plant synchronous generators has been developed by KEPRI (Korea Electric Power Research Institute). The reliability of the excitation system is increased by designing a dual channel automatic voltage regulator(AVR). Also the performance of the excitation system is improved by Self-Tuning adaptive Controller. A software package is developed for the excitation control system, and a field test is conducted to verify the system performance.

  • In the semiconductor and the optical industry a new transport system which can replace the common system is required. The common systems are driven by magnetic field and conveyer belt. The magnetic field damages semiconductor and contact force scratches the optical lens. The ultrasonic wave driven system solve these problem. In this paper the object transport system using the excitation of ultrasonic wave is proposed. The experiments for finding the optimal excitation frequency, finding phase-difference between two ultrasonic wave get orators are performed. The effect of transporting speed according to the change of weight and amplification voltage are verified. In addition, the system performance for actual use is evaluated.

  • The operation principle of an axial flux-switching hybrid excitation synchronous machine (AFHESM) is analyzed and its topology structures are proposed in this paper. After some comprehensive analysis of the operation principle to axial flux electrical machine, flux-switching electrical machine and hybrid excitation electrical machine, the operation principle of AFHESM is given. Combined with some typical topological structures of hybrid excitation electrical machine, some possible topological structures are proposed and some comprehensive comparisons are carried out. The analysis results show that the stator-separated AFHESM has some advantages such as less AM turns, less impact on the demagnetization of PM, less magnetic flux-leakage and higher efficiency compared to other topologies.

  • The resonance Raman spectra of trans-polyacetylene films doped heavily with electron donor (Na) and acceptor (HClO4) have been measured with excitation wavelengths between 488- and 1320-nm, and the relationships between the Raman excitation photon energies (2.54-0.94 eV) and its wavenumbers were discussed. We found the linear dependence of the Raman shifts with the exchanges of excitation photon energies. In particular, the Raman wavenumbers in the C=C stretching $(V_1$ band) showed a dramatic decrease with the increase in Raman excitation photon energies. In the case of acceptor doping, its change is larger than that of donor doping. The observed wavenumber (1255-1267 $cm^{-1}$) of the $V_2$ band (CC stretch) of Na-doped form is lower than that of the corresponding band (1290-1292 $cm^{-1}$) of its pristine trans-polyacetylene, whereas the contrary is the case for the HClO4 doped form (1295-1300 $cm^{-1}$). The origin of doping-induced Raman bands is discussed in terms of negative and positive polarons.

  • The most widely used scheme for detecting loss of excitation on generator is used to sense apparent impedance from generator terminals. This paper presents loss of excitation algorithm using DFT filter based negative offset mho elements for generator field protection. It's algorithm includes two negative mho characteristics looking in the generator. The generator control system was modeled by PSCAD/EMTDC software, and then the proposed algorithm was tested by the collecting relaying signals from selected the generator model. From simulation results, the loss of excitation algorithm can be used to field protection for generator.

  • This paper presents results of calculations performed according to our own semi-empirical mathematical model of critical vortex excitation. All calculations are carried out using own computer program, which allows the simulation of both the across-wind action caused by vortices and the lateral response of analysed structures. Vortex excitation simulations were performed in real time taking into account wind-structure interaction. Several structures of circular cross-sections were modelled using a FEM program and calculated under the action of critical vortex excitation. Six steel chimneys, six concrete chimneys and two concrete towers were considered. The method of selection and estimation of the experimental parameters describing the model are also presented. Finally, the results concerning maximum lateral top displacements of the structures are compared with available full-scale data for steel and concrete chimneys.

  • This paper presents theoretical background for a semi-empirical, mathematical model of critical vortex excitation of slender structures of compact cross-sections. The model can be applied to slender tower-like structures (chimneys, towers), and to slender elements of structures (masts, pylons, cables). Many empirical formulas describing across-wind load at vortex excitation depending on several flow parameters, Reynolds number range, structure geometry and lock-in phenomenon can be found in literature. The aim of this paper is to demonstrate mathematical background of the vortex excitation model for a theoretical case of the structure section. Extrapolation of the mathematical model for the application to real structures is also presented. Considerations are devoted to various cases of wind flow (steady and unsteady), ranges of Reynolds number and lateral vibrations of structures or their absence. Numerical implementation of the model with application to real structures is also proposed.

  • This paper investigates the optimal values of turn-on and turn-off angles, and ratio of flux linkage at turn-off angle and peak phase current positions of optimal control for accomplishing maximum output power in an 8/6 Switched Reluctance Generator (8/6 SRG). Phase current waveform is analyzed to determine optimal excitation angles (optimal turn-on and turn-off angles) of the SRG for maximum output power which is applied from a nonlinear magnetization curve in terms of control variables (dc bus voltage, shaft speed, and excitation angles). The optimal excitation angles in single pulse mode of operation are proposed via the analytical model. Simulated and experimental results have verified the accuracy of the analytical model.
