  • Since November 1979, 20 patients have undergone excision of an intracardiac myxoma, which was located in the left atrium in 18[90%], in the right atrium in 1[5%], and in the right ventricle in 1[5%], There were 17 female and 3 male patients with a mean age of 43.5 years [range 23 to 68 years]. Only one patient was asymptomatic, the others were seen mostly exertional dyspnea, palpitation, sings of systemic illness. Diagnosis was confirmed by echocardiography in all cases and angiography in two cases, preoperatively, The myxomas were successfully removed in all patients, either by shaving them from the atrial septum or by excising a portion of normal atrial septum with tumor. All heart chambers were carefully explored for presence of multi-centric myxoma or tumor debris. We conclude that excision of intracardiac myxoma is curative and long term survival is excellent and long term clinical and echocardiographic follow-up are recommended since late recurrence, although rare, has been reported.

  • The traumatic neuroma is uncommon in the mouth. Clinically, the majority of traumatic neuromas are painless, but may give rise to neuralgic pain. The traumatic neuroma is most often diagnosed in the adult of life. They are found as small nodules in the tissues and surgical excision is curative. Four cases of traumatic neuroma was found from the files of the Department of Oral Pathology at Chosun University School of Dentistry by a 20-year retrospective study. 3 cases were male and one was female. The chief complaint of the four patients was facial asymmetry, numbness, sharp pain, and masticatory difficulty, respectively. Of the our patients, 3 cases were 55, 56, and 65 years old, respectively and one was 7 years old. Our patients were treated by surgical excision. No recurrences have been found.

  • Verrucous carcinoma is a distinctive form of low-grade squamous cell carcinoma. The tumor has an exophytic, cauliflower-like appearance, and usually occurs in males and tends to affect individuals over 60 years of age. It typically involves the oral cavity, larynx, esophagus and skin. Most intraoral cases involve the mandibular vestibule, the buccal mucosa and the hard palate. The cause is unknown, but most verrucous carcinomas arise from the oral mucosa in people who chronically use chewing tobacco or snuff. The treatment of oral verrucous carcinoma remains controversial. Whenever possible, surgically total excision and skin or mucosal grafting is recommended. After total excision of huge verrucous carcinoma, instead of dermal or mucosal grafting, we used artificial dermis silicone membrane. We had a good result without recurrence and present this case.

  • The os intermetatarseum is a relatively uncommon bony anomaly of the foot. It is usually found between the bases of the first and second metatarsal bones and ossifies during adolescence. It is most commonly seen in radiographs as a separated ossicle, but it may arise as a spur from the base of the first or second metatarsal bone or from the medial cuneiform bone. It sometimes articulates with the base of the first or second metatarsal bone. We treated a painfull os intermetatarseum by excision, and had a good result after 13months follow-up.

  • Naviculocuneiform coalition is one of uncommon tarsal coalitions and especially symptomatic cases which need operative treatment are rare. Authors report 2 cases of pediatric naviculocuneiform patients who showed symptomatic condition as mainly pain. Plain radiographs, computed tomography or magnetic resolution imaging study showed bony bridge in naviculo-medial cuneiform joint. After over six months conservative treatment, excision of coalition and interposition $Tisseel^{(R)}$ was performed for motion preservation and relief of pain.

  • Purpose: It's difficult to treat port wine stain with nodular change in Laser therapy, and many patients with port wine stain suffer from restriction in social activity in case that port wine stain located on face. We present our experience in excision of port wine stain and skin graft in two patients who had port wine stain with nodular change on their faces. Methods: After excision of discolorized skin and nodular changed lesion of port wine stain, thick split thickness skin graft was done. Results: There was no recurred nodular hypertrophy for 3 months and 3 years of follow up periods. Conclusion: Surgical treatments of port wine stain with nodular change can lead significant improvement of lesion and social intercourse.

  • Osteomas are benign osteogenic neoplasms that usually occur as solitary craniofacial lesions. Multiple osteomas are rare, particularly those that do not occur as part of an associated syndrome. We report a case of a 72-year-old woman who presented with multiple bony protrusions over the forehead and scalp. She denied any diagnosis of syndromes that are known to be associated with osteomas. Surgical excision was performed by endoscopically resecting more than 30 osteomas of the frontal and bilateral parietal bones. Compared with conventional surgical excision through a direct incision, endoscopic-assisted surgery is a simple and effective method for the treatment of multiple craniofacial osteomas and is associated with excellent cosmetic outcomes and no neurovascular complications.

  • Tarsal tunnel syndrome is a complex of symptoms resulting from the compression of the posterior tibial nerve or its branches. Many studies have done on etiologic agents. We reported two cases of tarsal tunnel syndrome secondary to the varicosis of posterior tibial vein. Symptoms were relieved after excision of the varicosis, neurolysis and reposition of posterior tibial nerve.

  • An enlarged peroneal tubercle causes lateral ankle and foot pain, and which is a cause for stenosing peroneal tenosynovitis. In this report, we present a case of stenosing tenosynovitis of the peroneus longus tendon associated with hypertrophy of the peroneal tubercle without involvement of the peroneus brevis tendon. Surgical excision of the enlarged peroneal tubercle along with exploration of the peroneal tendons was successful.

  • Meckel's diverticulum is one of the common causes of gastrointestinal bleeding in the pediatric patient requiring laparotomy. Two children with Meckel's diverticulum have been successfully treated by laparoscopic excision. Both patients recovered without incident and were discharged at 3 and 5 days after surgery. The authors believe that laparoscopic diverticulectomy is a safe, effective. and minimal invasive treatment of Meckel's diverticulum in children.
