Aromatic copolyamides were prepared and their applicability to proton exchange membrane wasstudied. The copolymer contains thermally stable and mechanically strong poly(m-phenylene isophthalamide) segments, and easily processable and good film forming polysulfone segments. For the copolymer, amineterminated sulfonated ether sulfone monomer, m-phenylene diamine, and isophthaloyl chloride were reacted, and the obtained copolymer was transformed into crosslinkable prepolymer by the reaction with acryloyl chloride. The prepolymer was thermally cured and converted into proton exchange membranes for fuel cell application. Each reaction step and the molecular characteristics of precursor copolymers were monitored and confirmed by $^1H$ NMR, FTIR, and titration. The performance of the membranes was measured in terms of water uptake, proton conductivity, and thermal stability. The water uptake, ion exchange capacity (IEC), and proton conductivity of the membranes increased with the increase of sulfonated ether sulfone segment content. Membrane containing 30 mol% sulfonic acid sulfone segment showed 1.57 meq/g IEC value. Water uptake was limited less than 44 wt% and the highest proton conductivity up to $3.93{\times}10^{-2}S/cm$ ($25^{\circ}C$, RH= 100%) was observed.

In this study, in order to remove Cd(II) from aqueous solutions, strongly acidic cation exchange resin(SK1B) by Diaion Co. was employed as an adsorbent. Experiments were mainly performed in two parts at room temperature($25{\pm}5^{\circ}C$) : batch tests and adsorption kinetics tests. In batch tests adsorption equilibrium time, pH effects, temperature effects, several adsorption isotherms, and finally desorption tests were examined. In differential bed tests, an optimum flow rate and an overall adsorption rate were obtained. In the batch experiment, adsorption capability increased with pH and became constant above pH 6 and adsorption quantity increased with temperature. Batch experimental data found that Freundlich and Sips adsorption isotherms were more favorable than Langmuir adsorption isotherm over the range of concentration (5~15ppm). The desorbent used in the desorption test was hydrochloric acid solution with different concentrations(0.01~2N). The degree of regeneration increased with concentration of desorbent and decreased slightly with the number of regeneration. In the continuous flow process using a differential bed reactor, the optimum flow rate was $564m{\ell}/min$ above which the film diffusion resistance was minimized. The overall adsorption rate for the removal of Cd(II) by cation exchange resin was found as follows ; $r=1.3785C_{fc}^{1.2421}-2.0907{\times}10^{0.0746C_i}\;q_e^{0.0121C_i-0.0301}$

A determination method of trace nickel and cobalt in water samples was studied and developed by adsorbing their complexes on ion exchange resin suspension. The analytical ions were formed as complexes with a ligand of APDC (ammonium pyrrolidinedithiocarbamate) and adsorbed on anion exchange resin of Dowex 2-X8. After the suspension was filtered out with membrane filter, the complexes were dissolved in HCl solution by an ultrasonic vibrator for ET-AAS determination. Several conditions were optimized as followings. pH of sample solution: 5.0, amount of ligand APDC: more than 430 times in mole ratio, the type and concentration of acid: 0.1 M HCl, and vibration time: 7 minutes. The addition of palladium in the HCl solution could improve the reproducibility and sensitivity by a matrix modification in the absorbance measurement. This procedure was applied for the analysis of three kinds of real water samples. The detection limits equivalent to 3 times standard deviation of blank were Co 0.36 ng/mL and Ni 0.27 ng/mL and recoveries in spiked samples were 99-102% for cobalt and 100-105% for nickel.
Aromatic copolyamides were prepared and their applicability to proton exchange membrane was studied. The copolymers contain two segments; thermally stable and mechanically strong poly (p-phenylene terephthalamide) (PPTA), and easily processable and good film-forming polysulfone. For the copolymers, different ratios of amine-terminated sulfonated ether sulfone monomer, terephthaloyl chloride, and p-phenylene diamine were sequentially reacted. The obtained copolymers were mixed with trimethylolpropane triglycidyl ether (TMPTGE), thermally cured, and converted into proton exchange membranes for fuel cell application. The reactions at each step and the molecular characteristics of precursor copolymers were confirmed by $^1H$ NMR, FTIR, and titration. The performance of the membranes was measured in terms of water uptake and proton conductivity. The water uptake, ion exchange capacity (IEC), and proton conductivity of the membranes increased with the increase of sulfonated ether sulfone segment content. Membrane containing 60 mol% sulfonic acid sulfone segment showed 1.88 meq/g IEC value. Water uptake was limited less than 110 wt% and the highest proton conductivity was up to $7.4{\times}10^{-2}$ S/cm ($25^{\circ}C$, RH=100%).
The cation-exchange membrane which was sulfonated styrene-ethylene/buthlene-styrene(SEBS) block copolymer containing the high impact polystyrene (HIPS) was prepared via post-sulfonation and casting method using the epoxidized polybutadiene and divinylbenzene as crosslinking agents. Post-sulfonation was carried out with sulfuric acid as sulfonating agent and silver sulfate as initiator in the nitrogen atmosphere. The basic properties of membranes, degree of sulfonation (DS), water uptake, ion-exchange capacity (IEC), electrical resistance, and modulus have been examined. DS of membrane increased with increasing the sulfonation time. The maximum DS of membrane containing 10 wt% HIPS was 83.6 %. The water uptake and IEC of membranes gradually increased as increasing the DS. The maximum water uptake and IEC of membranes were 43.8 % and 1.14 meq/g, respectively. The lowest electrical resistance of membrane containing the 20 wt% HIPS was $83\;\Omega{\cdot}cm^2$. The electrical conductivity of membrane containing 10 wt% HIPS was $1.22\times10^{-4}S/cm$. The modulus of membrane increased with increasing DS and these values were 153 and $204\;kgf/cm^2$ before and after sulfonation, respectively.
Xylose reductase (alditol: $NADP^+$ 1-oxidoreductase, EC 1.1.1.21) from the xylose-fermenting yeast, Candida sp. BT001, was purified via salt fractionation, ion-exchange, gel filtration and affinity chromatography, and its properties were characterized. The enzyme from the yeast was active with both NADPH and NADH as coenzyme. The xylose reductase activity with NADH was approximately 51% of that with NADPH and the specific activities of purified enzyme with NADPH and NADH were 11.78 U/mg and 6.01 U/mg, respectively. Molecular weight of the purified enzyme was 31,000 on SDS-PAGE and 61,000 on gel filtration. The Km for D-xylose, NADPH, and NADH was $94.2{\times}10^{-3}M,\;0.011{\times}10^{-3}M\;and \;0.032{\times}10^{-3}M$, respectively. The purified xylose reductase had relatively higher substrate affinity for L-arabinose than other aldoses tested. The optimal pH was 6.2 and the optimal reaction temperature was $45^{\circ}C$. The thermal stability of the enzyme was for 20 minutes at $30^{\circ}C$.
The purpose of this study is to find out which artificial intelligence methodology is most suitable for creating a foreign exchange rate prediction model using the indicators of bond market and interest rate market. KTBs and MSBs, which are representative products of the Korea bond market, are sold on a large scale when a risk aversion occurs, and in such cases, the USD/KRW exchange rate often rises. When USD liquidity problems occur in the onshore Korean market, the KRW Cross-Currency Swap price in the interest rate market falls, then it plays as a signal to buy USD/KRW in the foreign exchange market. Considering that the price and movement of products traded in the bond market and interest rate market directly or indirectly affect the foreign exchange market, it may be regarded that there is a close and complementary relationship among the three markets. There have been studies that reveal the relationship and correlation between the bond market, interest rate market, and foreign exchange market, but many exchange rate prediction studies in the past have mainly focused on studies based on macroeconomic indicators such as GDP, current account surplus/deficit, and inflation while active research to predict the exchange rate of the foreign exchange market using artificial intelligence based on the bond market and interest rate market indicators has not been conducted yet. This study uses the bond market and interest rate market indicator, runs artificial neural network suitable for nonlinear data analysis, logistic regression suitable for linear data analysis, and decision tree suitable for nonlinear & linear data analysis, and proves that the artificial neural network is the most suitable methodology for predicting the foreign exchange rates which are nonlinear and times series data. Beyond revealing the simple correlation between the bond market, interest rate market, and foreign exchange market, capturing the trading signals between the three markets to reveal the active correlation and prove the mutual organic movement is not only to provide foreign exchange market traders with a new trading model but also to be expected to contribute to increasing the efficiency and the knowledge management of the entire financial market.
We studied the degree of rancidity of linoleic acid for the electrochemical redox reaction in time course and the kinetic parameters. The current of the linoleic acid was increased and the potential was shifted to the positive potential when scan rates were faster. The redox reaction of the linoleic acid was proceeding to totally irreversible and diffusion controlled reaction. From these results, diffusion coefficient(D$\_$o/) of linoleic acid was observed to 2.61$\times$10$\^$-6/ ㎠/s in the 0.1 M TEAP/DMF electrolyte solution. Also, exchange rate constant(K$\^$o/) was observed to 9.79$\times$10$\^$-11/ cm/s. The leaving time in air condition was found to affect the rancidity. We predicted that the product was carbonyl compounds.

Approximately forty proteins in egg white have been widely studied for their functional properties. To develop a procedure of separation for pure and non-altered proteins from egg white, purification study was conducted to isolate lysozyme, ovotransferrin, and ovalbumin. Ion exchange cartridge can selectively separate proteins from egg white, and reversed-phase HPLC (RP-HPLC) could identify separated proteins. Proteins in egg white were purified by HI trap ion exchange cartridge SP and Q with buffers pH 8.0 and 5.2. C18 column (Phenomenex, USA) was used for RP-HPLC analysis and isocratic mobile phase was used with acetonitrile (ACN)/distilled water (DW)/trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) in the ratio of 50/50/0.1. Comparing the retention times of standards in RP-HPLC experiments showed that ovotransferrin, ovalbumin, and lysozyme in egg white were eluted successively in the RP-HPLC column after the pretreatment in SP and Q ion exchange cartridges.

In order to understand temperature and salinity variations, and the characteristics of the seawater exchange through two channels of Gamak Bay, we conducted measurements of water temperature, salinity and current for fifteen days in the summer and winter. Based on the observational data, the current seemed to have a close relation with wind. In addition, a correlation analysis result proved that water temperature is likely to be more influenced by air temperature rather than tide. Moreover, water temperatures at the south channel varied more sensitively with the season rather than at the east channel because of its shallow depth. Seawater exchange rates were estimated to be 0.5~29.9% (mean: 11.6%) at the east channel but 1.3~62.6% (mean: 18.6%) at the south channel in summer. On the contrary, they were estimated to be 0.3~28.5% (mean: 8.9%) at the east channel but 0.1~97.9% (mean: 31.2%) at the south channel in winter. Thus, the rates of seawater exchange in Gamak Bay turned out that the south mouth is approximately three times higher than the east mouth, and it also suggested that seasonal winds affect the rates of seawater exchange in Gamak Bay.
