고강도 콘크리트 구조부재의 폭렬 특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Explosive Spalling Properties of High Strength Concrete Structure Member)

  • This study, in order for perceiving the mechanical attribute followed by the explosive spalling of high strength concrete material under high temperature and evaluating capacity of endurance of material, targets understanding capacity of endurance of material such as explosive spalling in high temperature, temperature by thickness of clothing, transformation extent, transformation speed and displacement, stocking the maximum load based on the Allowable Stress Design Method. As a result of experimenting the explosive spalling attribute of high strength concrete material, the one possibly causing serious damage is the 50 MPa concrete. In all aspects of 60 MPa concrete, explosive spalling happens. Especially, it is hazardous enough to reveal all the iron bar. All explosive spalling is intensively concentrated on the surface of concrete for the first $5{\sim}25$ minutes, which urges for the explosive spalling protection action. As a result of evaluating the structural safety by the transformation of high strength concrete, while beam assures the fire safety meeting regulation, 60 MPa shows the dramatic increase of transformation, which only counts 84% of safety. In a column, both the concrete exclusion and excessive explosive spalling are concentrated upper part of column, which brings about the dramatic transformation, so it only meets the 50% of safety regulation. Likewise, in 80, 100 MPa concrete which was never experimented considering the condition of domestic structural endurance stocking devices, the faster collapse is expected.

Improvement of Strain and Elastic Modulus of Linerboard to Prevent Score Crack

  • When corrugated board is folded at the severely low humidity condition, crack can occur along the scored (or creased) lines of linerboard. This phenomenon is called as score (or crease) crack. It is mainly resulted from the excessive concentration of stress on the outer layer of linerboard. To overcome score crack, many approaches including the installation of constant temperature and humidity system, displacement of low grade raw material by long and strong fibers, or application of water have been tried. We examined the effect of the weight fraction of top layer in two-ply sheet, freeness of top layer stock and wet pressing on strain and elastic modulus of sheet to prevent score crack. Lower freeness and higher press load increased the density and elastic modulus of sheet. Pressing load over the $50kgf/cm^2$, however, decreased the strain of sheet. The weight fraction of top layer had positive effect on strain as well as elastic modulus without increasing the density of sheet.

  • Offshore drilling has become a key process for obtaining oil. Offshore platforms have many applications, including oil exploration and production, navigation, ship loading and unloading, and bridge and causeway support. However, vibration problems caused by severe environmental loads, such as ice, wave, wind, and seismic loads, threaten the functionality of platform facilities and the comfort of workers. These concerns may result in piping failures, unsatisfactory equipment reliability, and safety concerns. Therefore, the vibration control of offshore platforms is essential for assuring structural safety, equipment functionality, and human comfort. In this study, an optimal multiple tuned mass damper (MTMD) system was proposed to mitigate the excessive vibration of a three-dimensional offshore platform under ice and earthquake loadings. The MTMD system was designed to control the first few dominant coupled modes. The optimal placement and system parameters of the MTMD are determined based on controlled modal properties. Numerical simulation results show that the proposed MTMD system can effectively reduce the displacement and acceleration responses of the offshore platform, thus improving safety and serviceability. Moreover, this study proposes an optimal design procedure for the MTMD system to determine the optimal location, moving direction, and system parameters of each unit of the tuned mass damper.

  • Communication facilities play an essential role in disaster situations. Therefore, communication facilities need to have structural and functional safety during and after earthquakes. Recently, technology for partial seismic isolation has been increasing to protect data facilities and communication equipment installed in buildings from earthquakes. However, excessive displacement may occur in the seismic isolator during an earthquake due to the resonance between the building and the seismic isolator having long-period characteristics, which may cause overturning and separation of the installed equipment. In this study, analytical and experimental studies were conducted to evaluate the safety of seismic isolators installed in high-rise buildings. It was confirmed that damages might occur in buildings' seismic isolator, with resonance characteristics of less than 1 Hz.

고성토 지반의 EPS 소성변형 문제점에 대한 사례연구 (A Case Study about Problem EPS Plastic Displacement on High Embankment)

  • 연약지반은 지반강도가 낮으므로 공학적 문제점 개선방법에 대해 많은 연구가 수행되어 왔다. 대상현장은 연약지반의 압밀침하에 대해 안정성을 확보하기 위해 경량성토제인 EPS를 시공하였다. 그러나 포장층의 침하와 경계석의 파손 등 안정성에 문제점이 발생하였으며, 조사결과 현재높이가 설계높이보다 1m 이상 압축된 것으로 나타났다. 분석결과 상재하중에 영향을 받는 EPS가 설계 및 시공당시 상부 지반층 및 교통 하중이 과다하게 적용된 것으로 나타났다. 따라서 본 연구에서는 연약지반에 EPS가 시공된 현장의 고성토로 인한 문제점을 분석하고, 합리적인 대책공법을 제시한 사례를 소개함으로서 EPS 설계 및 시공 시 유의점을 제시하고자 한다.

내과의 부분후방절골술을 통한 거골연골모세포종의 수술적 치료: 증례 보고 (Surgical Treatment of Talar Chondroblastoma via Partial Posterior Medial Malleolar Osteotomy: A Case Report)

  • During bone tumor resection, many cases require medial malleolar osteotomy to achieve adequate access to the operative field. Various osteotomy methods have been developed to address this issue, including oblique, transverse, reverse V-shape, and step-cut osteotomies. However, medial malleolar osteotomy has several drawbacks, such as the excessive disruption of the joint surface, unstable screw fixation when fixing the medial malleolus, and iatrogenic medial ankle joint arthritis due to articular displacement during the reduction of the osteotomy site. In addition, there is a possibility of injury to the posterior tibial artery, tibial nerve, or posterior tibialis tendon if the osteotomy range is too aggressive. Therefore, the authors propose a new osteotomy method, which has shown promising clinical results, namely, partial posterior medial malleolar osteotomy. This method minimizes articular involvement and provides adequate access to the operative field during talar body bone tumor resection.

A novel longitudinal seismic self-centering system for RC continuous bridges using SMA rebars and friction dampers

  • This study proposes a novel longitudinal self-centering earthquake resistant system for reinforced concrete (RC) continuous bridges by using superelastic shape memory alloy (SMA) reinforcement and friction dissipation mechanism. The SMA reinforcing bars are implemented in the fixed piers to provide self-recentering forces, while the friction dampers are used at the movable substructures like end abutments to enhance the energy dissipation of the bridge system. A reasonable balance between self-centering and energy dissipation capacities should be well achieved by properly selecting the parameters of the SMA rebars and friction dampers. A two-span continuous bridge with one fixed pier and two abutments is chosen as a prototype for illustration. Different longitudinal earthquake resistant systems including the proposed one in this study are investigated and compared. The results indicate that compared with the designs of over-dissipation (e.g., excessive friction) and over-self-centering (e.g., pure SMAs), the proposed system with balanced design between self-centering and energy dissipation would perform satisfactorily in controlling both the peak and residual displacement ratios of the bridge system.

Studies on seismic performance of the new section steel beam-wall connection joint

  • This paper introduces a new hybrid structural connection joint that combines shear walls with section steel beams, fundamentally resolving the construction complexity issue of requiring pre-embedded connectors in the connection between shear walls and steel beams. Initially, a quasi-static loading scheme with load-deformation dual control was employed to conduct low-cycle repeated loading experiments on five new connection joints. Data was acquired using displacement and strain gauges to compare the energy dissipation coefficients of each specimen. The destruction process of the new connection joints was meticulously observed and recorded, delineating it into three stages. Hysteresis curves and skeleton curves of the joint specimens were plotted based on experimental results, summarizing the energy dissipation performance of the joints. It's noteworthy that the addition of shear walls led to an approximate 17% increase in the energy dissipation coefficient. The energy dissipation coefficients of dog-bone-shaped connection joints with shear walls and cover plates reached 2.043 and 2.059, respectively, exhibiting the most comprehensive hysteresis curves. Additionally, the impact of laminated steel plates covering composite concrete floors on the stiffness of semi-rigid joint ends under excessive stretching should not be disregarded. A comparison with finite element analysis results yielded an error of merely 2.2%, offering substantial evidence for the wide-ranging application prospects of this innovative joint in seismic performance.

A Study on Stability Evaluation of the Nail-Anchor Mixed Support System

  • 쏘일네일 또는 지반앵커와 같은 보강재는 지하굴착 및 사면의 안정성 확보를 위해 효율적으로 적용될 수 있음이 여러 지반공학자들에게 널리 알려져 있다. 그러나 경우에 따라서는, 쏘일네일과 지반앵커를 굴착면 상하 또는 좌우에 복합적으로 적용하여 지반굴착이 진행되는 시공사례가 종종 있어 왔다. 본 연구에서는 한계평형적 접근에 근거하여, 이와같은 상하 또는 좌우 쏘일네일-지반앵커 복합 지지시스템의 전체적인 안정성을 평가할 수 있는 해석법을 제시하였다. 이 과정에서 예상 파괴흙쐐기의 형상은 $FLAC^{2D}\; 및\; FLAC^{3D}$ 프로그램 해석결과를 토대로 결정하였다. 또한 관입전단파괴에 대한 안정성 확보를 위해 요구되는 본 쏘일네일-지반앵커 복합 지지시스템의 전면부 숏크리트 벽체의 두께를 검토하였다. 아울러 쏘일네일 구조체와 지반앵커 구조체가 서로 접하게 되는 경계영역에서는 응력집중, 상대변위 및 이로 인한 전단력 유발 등 전면벽체에 대한 추가 안정성 검토가 요구된다. 이를 위해, 경계영역에서의 상대변위를 예측키 위한 간편 유한요소해석기법을 제시하였으며, 또한 충분한 안정성 확보를 위해 숏크리트 전면벽체의 두께가 과도하게 요구되는 문제점을 적절히 해결하기 위해 수정된 지압판 시스템을 제시하였다. 아울러 관련 설계변수들의 영향에 대한 다양한 분석과 더불어, 예측된 상대변위를 $FLAC^{2D}$프로그램 해석결과와 서로 비교하여 제시된 간편 유한요소해석기법의 적용 가능성을 평가하였다.

S형 보도사장교의 케이블이 횡방향 거동에 미치는 영향 연구 (Study on the effect of cable on the lateral behavior of S-shaped Pedestrian-CSB)

  • 최근 국내 사장교는 경관적인 요소를 위하여 비정형적인 형태가 시도되고 있다. 새로운 기하구조가 적용된 사장교는 그 특성을 명확히 분석하여 구조안전성을 확보할 필요가 있다. 본 연구 대상 교량은 S자형 곡선 보도사장교로 S자형 평면곡선과 역삼각형트러스 횡단면을 가진 보강거더, 곡선반경 내측에 1면으로 배치된 경사 주탑과 modified Fan 타입 주케이블, 수직 백스테이케이블이 적용되었다. 곡선사장교는 직선사장교와 같이 종방향의 거동에만 초점을 두고 장력을 조정할 경우 횡방향으로 과다한 변위와 모멘트가 발생 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 주케이블이 교량의 횡방향 거동에 미치는 영향을 분석하기 위해서, 장력에 의한 주탑의 횡방향 변위 방향에 따라 케이블을 2개 그룹으로 나누었다. 지간중앙부 케이블 그룹을 GR1, 주탑지점부 케이블 그룹을 GR2라 할 때 GR1과 GR2의 조합비율이 보강거더, 받침, 주탑 그리고 수직앵커케이블에 미치는 영향을 분석하였다. 연구대상 교량에 적용된 장력비율을 1.0GR1+1.0GR2라 하였을 때, 1.2GR1+0.8GR2의 조합에서 주탑지점부 보강거더의 좌측과 우측 상현재 응력이 최소가 되었고, 좌우 부재의 편차도 최소가 되었다. 또한, 받침의 수평력, 주탑의 횡방향 변위와 모멘트, 수직백스테이케이블의 장력도 감소하였다. 본 연구는 유사한 기하구조를 가진 사장교의 장력 결정시 기초 자료로 활용될 것으로 기대된다.
