  • This study was conducted to find out whether excellent and non-excellent players could be distinguished by the achievement goal orientation(task-orientation, ego-orientation) test and the self-management(physical, interpersonal, training, mental management) test targeting youth soccer players. The subject of this study were 299 players(144 middle school students, 155 high school students) including 131 representative players by age and 168 general players who registered with the Korea Football Association. The questionnaires for data collection include the Task & Ego Orientation in Sport Questionnaire(TEOSQ) developed by Duda and Nicholls(1989) and the athlete self-management questionnaire(ASMQ) developed by Heo Jeong-hoon(2003) was used. For data analysis, frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis, and discriminant analysis were performed using SPSS 23 version. As a result of analyzing the data, task orientation and ego orientation, which are sub-factors of achievement goal orientation, were both confirmed as tests that did not discriminate between excellent and non-excellent players. On the other hand, the self-management test was confirmed as a test that can discriminate between excellent and non-excellent players in body management, training management, and mental management excluding interpersonal management among the sub-factors of self-managemnet. In particular, among self-management, mental management was identified as the most important factor in discriminating between excellent and non-excellent athletes.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate whether there are differences in physique characteristics between the excellent domestic player groups in each sport player's, to prevent epidemiologic damage of musculoskeletal system and to provide fundamental data to improve performances for players. This study has performed for total 60 student players from Y University in Yongin, Gyeonggi-do, consists of 20 Kendo players, 20 Judo players and 20 Taekwondo players. We measured the length and circumference of arm, leg, body using Martin anthropometer to collect the data for 3 groups. There was significant difference in lower left arm length between player groups(p<.01), and Kendo players' right side femoral were longer than other 2 groups for leg length measurement(p<.01). Judo players' circumference for right/left stretched arm/bent upper arm were thicker than other 2 groups(p<.01). Taekwondo players' chest circumference were smaller than other 2 groups(p<.01), and Taekwondo players' right/left femoral circumference were thinner than other 2 groups(p<.05). From this study, it was found that there are physique characteristics differences between the Kendo, Judo and Taekwondo player groups. This indicates that repeated exercise for each sport player causes physique change, and it may cause epidemiologic damage of musculoskeletal system. It is recommended to perform balancing exercise prior to main exercise.

  • This study aims to organize the prototype design method of compression wear for women professional soccer players. Despite the excellent performance of female soccer players in world competition, most functional wear has been developed mainly for men, so professional female athletes have fewer choices. Soccer is a sport requiring core and lower body muscle strength, and muscular endurance for long periods of playing or walking on the field. Female soccer players did not differ much in upper body compared to other women, but their lower body had a smaller hip circumference than waist circumference and a larger thigh circumference, requiring compilation considering the physical characteristics and movement of athletes. Female soccer players wear sports bras while playing but regular bras and compression wear during normal exercise because they sweat on under their breast, which irritates sensitive skin. For core muscles in the upper body and to support for thigh and hip muscles in the lower body, the uniform in this study was designed by reducing the body size of a professional female soccer player in her 20s and the actual measurements of commercial compilation software to 81% of the chest circumference, 95% of the waist circumference, and 78% of the hip circumference. The design experiment in this study was a simple exercise and did not produce produce results for long-term exercise and performance improvement, but can be used to design a composition pattern system for other professional female athletes.

  • Purpose: We assessed the results of open treatment of anterior impingement syndrome of the ankle in elite level soccer players and concomitant injuries were idenfied. Materials and Methods: We retrospectively reviewed twenty one elite level soccer players diagnosed with anterior impingement syndrome who underwent open debridement between January 1997 and January 2002. All were men and the mean age at the operation was 21 years (range 16 to 27). The mean follow-up duration was 31 months (13 to 71). Concomitant abnormalities were idenfied through physical examination, bone scan and MRI. On a preoperative lateral radiograph, patients were classified according to McDermott's stage. Anteromedial or anterolateral approach was used at the operation and osteophyte was removed with osteotome and rongeur. When chronic ankle instability was accompanying, we performed Modified Brostrom-Gould procedure and for osteochondral lesion, multiple drilling was applied. The Ogilvie-Harris scoring system was used as a clinical scale to evaluate pain, swelling, stiffness and limitation of activity. The results were scored as excellent (15 to 16 points), good (13 to 14) and otherwise unsatisfactory. The time to return to full activity including sports activity was determined. Results: Eighteen of twenty one patients had an excellent outcome. Three patients were graded unsatisfactory and two of them abandoned their career due to the persistence of residual pain. Concomitant abnormalities were found including twelve cases of chronic ankle instability, three cases of osteochondral lesion and two cases of flexor hallucis longus tendinitis. Conclusion: Open debridement was successfully applied to the elite level soccer player with anterior impingement syndrome of the ankle. Considerable coexistence of other abnormalities such as chronic ankle instability may encourage us to consider additional operative procedure.

  • The purpose of this study was to examine if there are kinematic variables differences between national representative players (NRP) and non national representative players (NNRP) during 500 m inline skate starting motion. Four NRP and six NNRP were recruited for the study. Each subject executed starting motion five times on a $2{\times}12m$ start way in a gymnasium. Kinematic variables were analyzed by the three-dimensional motion analysis system (60Hz). It was hypothesized that there are difference in elapsed time and center of mass acceleration in starting phase between groups since starting phase has been considered important in sprinting. The results showed that the NRP had significantly shorter starting phase time than that of NNRP. 1) An elapsed time in phase P1 of NRP was shorter than that of NNRP, and excellent players have early started their first stroke. 2) Both NRP and NNRP have started at the same spot, and displacement of the center of gravity in starting posture of NRP group was at the front compared to NNRP group. 3) Average step lengths of NRP were longer than those of NNRP, and a step change of NRP was stabler compared to that of NNRP. 4) In a speed change of the center of gravity NRP showed comparatively high speed from P1 to P4.

  • In this research, the physical education training quality was investigated using the entropy model to compute variance associated with a random value (a strong tool). The entropy and undefined estimation principles are used to extract the greatest entropy of information dependent on the index system. In the study of tennis motion tracking from a dynamic viewpoint, such stages are utilized to improve the perception of the players' achievement (Lv et al. 2020). Six female tennis players served on the right side (50 cm from the T point). The initial flat serve from T point was the movement under consideration, and the entropy was utilized to weigh all indications. As a result, a multi-index measurement vector is stabilized, followed by the confidence level to determine the structural plane establishment range. As a result, the use of the unascertained measuring technique of information entropy showed an excellent approach to assessing athlete performance more accurately than traditional ways, enabling coaches and athletes to enhance their movements successfully.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the change of physical fitness, MDA, SOD after short-term weight reduction through exercise, food restriction and exhalation of sweat among Taekwondo players. The subjects ten male collage Taekwondo players with excellent practical skills, and more than seven years of experiences. They were asked to reduce about 5% of their body weight in seven days. Physical fitness levels were analyzed through grip strength, muscle endurance, flexibility, power, agility, balance, reaction time and MDA and SOD through blood test. The results of this study were as follows; First, there was no significant change in physical fitness due to short-term weight reduction in muscle strength, muscle endurance, flexibility, power, agility, balance and reaction time. Second, The change of MDA and SOD, resulting from short-term weight reduction did not show significant difference statistically. Therefore, the results of this study indicate that the Taekwondo players' short-term weight reduction of 5% of their body weight did not influence on their athletic performance and physiological capacity. Therefore athletes and coaches should endeavor to take exercise, dietary, and dehydration into consideration when conducting 5% of their body weight reduction in a week.

  • This study develops baseball uniforms for amateur baseball players with excellent appearance and functional movement. This study selected a conventional baseball uniform and developed a new one for amateur baseball players with improved function and appearance based on previous research results. In case of developed baseball uniform materials, this study used polyurethane mixed fabric for the top to improve flexibility. A mesh material was used at the armpit, back, and bottom of the top, side line of pants and pockets to improve breathability. In addition, quilted material was added to the knee to improve durability and protection. For the patterns and design, this study used a gusset under the arm to assist in comfortable movement as well as reduced the length of the top and circumference of the hem to decrease unnecessary parts. For the pants, this study used a waistband gripper to avoid the top riding up, added darts behind the knees to bend comfortably, and added additional fabric inside the hem to prevent dirt. In addition, we reduced the width and length of the pants. Wearing evaluation was divided into appearance evaluation by experts and on-site-wearing test by baseball players. The wearing evaluation results for the developed baseball uniform indicated higher evaluations than a conventional baseball uniform in all sections as well as showed significant differences in all sections. The result of movement adaptability evaluation showed the highest satisfaction for 'the top does not ride up' and 'dirt do not get in'.

  • Purpose: The objective of this study was to define the Os submalleolare as an any ossicles below medial malleolus of tibia and to determine the characteristics of clinical and radiological characteristics and to evaluate results of surgical treatment of Os submalleolare in sports player group. Materials and Methods: Twenty-two patients with Os submalleolare were identified between November, 1, 1998 and June, 30, 2002. Results: The mean age was 18.3 years. All patient were male and soccer players comprised 71%(20 cases). Associated disease were 8 cases(29%) of chronic ankle instabilities, one case(4%) of anterior impingement syndrome and one (4%) of plantar fascitis. The most common clinical symptom was pain during walking and sports activity and sign was tenderness around medial malleolus. Only simple radiograph could reveal presence of ossicle and differentiate with acute fracture. If symptom and sign obscured, Bone scan(7 cases) and MRI(3 cases) identify causes of pain and tenderness. As a surgical treatment, all bony fragment caused symptom and sign were eliminated and medial collateral ligament was reattached meticulously. Associated chronic ankle instability were present, modified Brostrom procedure was done simultaneously. On follow-up, The symptomatic pain were wholly disappeared at average 2.2 months (1-6months) after operation. On one year follow-up, all patients have been daily life without any complaints and have gone back to the game within three months. Conclusion: as submalleolare have relatively rare incidence in sports players and most common clinical symptom and sign is tenderness on medial malleolar area of ankle, can be diagnosed both physical examination and plain X-ray film. As a treatment, Removal of ossicle and reattachment of MCL could obtain excellent or good results.
