A Study on an Effective Event Detection Method for Event-Focused News Summarization (사건중심 뉴스기사 자동요약을 위한 사건탐지 기법에 관한 연구)

  • This study investigates an event detection method with the aim of generating an event-focused news summary from a set of news articles on a certain event using a multi-document summarization technique. The event detection method first classifies news articles into the event related topic categories by employing a SVM classifier and then creates event clusters containing news articles on an event by a modified single pass clustering algorithm. The clustering algorithm applies a time penalty function as well as cluster partitioning to enhance the clustering performance. It was found that the event detection method proposed in this study showed a satisfactory performance in terms of both the F-measure and the detection cost.

Design and evaluation of a GQS-based time-critical event dissemination for distributed clouds

  • Cloud computing provides computation, software, data access, and storage services that do not require end-user knowledge of the physical location and configuration of the system that delivers the services. Cloud computing providers have setup several data centers at different geographical locations over the Internet in order to optimally serve needs of their customers around the world. One of the fundamental challenges in geographically distributed clouds is to provide efficient algorithms for supporting inter-cloud data management and dissemination. In this paper, we propose a group quorum system (GQS)-based dissemination for improving the interoperability of inter-cloud in time-critical event dissemination service, such as computing policy updating, message sharing, event notification and so forth. The proposed GQS-based method organizes these distributed clouds into a group quorum ring overlay to support a constant event dissemination latency. Our numerical results show that the GQS-based method improves the efficiency as compared with Chord-based and Plume methods.

The Impact of Exhibition and Event Experience Type on MICE Quality and Loyalty (전시 및 이벤트 경험 유형이 MICE 품질 그리고 MICE 품질이 충성도에 미치는 영향)

  • The main purpose of this study is to empirically investigate determinants affecting MICE quality, which then affects to loyalty. In particular, this study focuses on variables in the exhibition and event experiences of the MICE participants. The proposed research includes four variables representing the exhibitions and event experiences (affective, intellectual, behavioral, relational experience), two MICE qualities (commitment, satisfaction), and MICE loyalty. The results of this study reveal that four proposed variables (affective, intellectual, behavioral and relational experience) have a positive impact on two MICE qualities (commitment and satisfaction). Furthermore, the study found that commitment and satisfaction positively influence MICE loyalty. The findings of the study would provide theoretical and practical implications of exhibition and event experiences, quality and loyalty of MICE.

  • This article concerns the event management of the transportation and delivery system in the real time environment. Until now mainstream researches in the transportation and delivery area have largely focused how to create optimized vehicle routing schedule fast and stably, although the execution and event management area has a lot of opportunities which could make logistics efficient and especially customers satisfied. This paper suggests to-be model processes how to execute vehicle routing schedule correctly and when events are occurred how to cope with them effectively. To embody such ideas GIS, GPS and Mobile technologies are attached on optimizing scheduler engine, TMS, WMS, ATP and Monitoring system.

Computer-Aided Decision Analysis for Improvement of System Reliability

  • Nowadays, every kind of system is changed so complex and enormous, it is necessary to assure system reliability, product liability and safety. Fault tree analysis(FTA) is a reliability/safety design analysis technique which starts from consideration of system failure effect, referred to as “top event”, and proceeds by determining how these can be caused by single or combined lower level failures or events. So in fault tree analysis, it is important to find the combination of events which affect system failure. Minimal cut sets(MCS) and minimal path sets(MPS) are used in this process. FTA-I computer program is developed which calculates MCS and MPS in terms of Gw-Basic computer language considering Fussell's algorithm. FTA-II computer program which analyzes importance and function cost of VE consists. of five programs as follows : (l) Structural importance of basic event, (2) Structural probability importance of basic event, (3) Structural criticality importance of basic event, (4) Cost-Failure importance of basic event, (5) VE function cost analysis for importance of basic event. In this study, a method of initiation such as failure, function and cost in FTA is suggested, and especially the priority rank which is calculated by computer-aided decision analysis program developed in this study can be used in decision making determining the most important basic event under various conditions. Also the priority rank can be available for the case which selects system component in FMEA analysis.

  • This paper proposes a UQoSM (User Qualify of Service Middleware) framework for multimedia application systems. UQoSM system is extended the existing event service model added to the event monitoring, reflective event filtering and event dispatcher for supporting multimedia application systems. Especially, this paper is concentrated on providing suitable reflective event filtering function for multimedia application service system in order to meet various user requirements under inter-based environment. It means this system provides high QoS to users. In addition, it results in decreasing network traffic as unnecessary event information is filtered from network.

A Preliminary Study on Event Archives (사건 아카이브의 시론적 연구)

  • This study aims to establish the definition of "event archive," which collects and manages records that focus on a specific event, in order to present a new perspective onto the collection and management of private records. As such, this study defines "event archive" and then identifies its characteristics by comparing it with community archives and locality archives. An event archive consists of person, spatiality, and temporality. As it puts an emphasis on temporality in particular, this study suggests a spiral model, which grafts person and spatiality onto a time axis. Moreover, this study suggests three considerations for the construction of an event archive. First, it presents different construction methods for different types of event archives depending on the time an event occurred. Second, it suggests records collection and management areas considering the three components of an event archive-person, spatiality, and temporality. Third, it supports a digital archive for an event archive to become an open archive.

Blockchain-Assisted Trust Management Scheme for Securing VANETs

  • The main goal of VANETs is to improve the safety of all road users. Therefore, the accuracy and trustworthiness of messages transmitted in VANETs are essential, given that life may rely on them. VANETs are provided with basic security services through the use of public key infrastructure-based authentication. However, the trust of users is still an open issue in VANETs. It is important to prevent bogus message attacks from internal vehicles as well as protect vehicle privacy. In this paper, we propose a trust management scheme that ensures trust in VANETs while maintaining vehicle privacy. The trust scheme establishes trust between vehicles where a trust value is assigned to every vehicle based on its behavior and messages are accepted only from vehicles whose trust value is greater than a threshold, therefore, protecting VANETs from malicious vehicles and eliminating bogus messages. If a traffic event happens, vehicles upload event messages to the reachable roadside unit (RSU). Once the RSU has confirmed that the event happened, it announces the event to vehicles in its vicinity and records it into the blockchain. Using this mechanism, RSUs are prevented from sending fake or unverified event notifications. Simulations are carried out in the context of bogus message attacks to evaluate the trust scheme's reliability and efficiency. The results of the simulation indicate that the proposed scheme outperforms the compared schemes and is highly resistant to bogus message attacks.
