This paper describes the smart illuminating system based on the obstacle environmental presetting to improve the user convenience to easy lighting and energy conservation. Obstacle environment has trouble controlling the illuminating equipment using manual buttons in certain circumstances, which requires a smart remote controller. The smart remote controller is operated by the smart phone, motion sensor and timer to turn on and off the lamps. The event sensor module transmits the signals of the event occurrence to equipment on the remote place when smart phone and motion sensor detect an event, and the illuminator received the event turn on or off the lamp. The system results in energy saving by simple on/off control and manipulating the operating time with controlling the illuminating system preset by user's obstacle or preference circumstances. The proposed system implementation is experimented to figure out the energy saving about13.5w/h and the optimized convenience control.

Visual surveillance is an active topic recently in Computer Vision. Event detection and recognition is one important and useful application of visual surveillance system. In this paper, we propose a new method to recognize the entering and exiting events based on the human's movement feature and the door's state. Without sensors, the proposed approach is based on novel and simple vision method as a combination of edge detection, motion history image and geometrical characteristic of the human shape. The proposed method includes several applications such as access control in visual surveillance and computer vision fields.
US national research laboratories developed the first Vital Area Identification (VAI) method for the physical protection of nuclear power plants that is based on Event Tree Analysis (ETA) and Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) techniques in 1970s. Then, Korea Atomic Energy Research Institute proposed advanced VAI method that takes advantage of fire and flooding Probabilistic Safety Assessment (PSA) results. In this study, in order to minimize the burden and difficulty of VAI, (1) a set of streamlined VAI rules were developed, and (2) this set of rules was applied to PSA fault tree and event tree at the initial stage of VAI process. This new rule-based VAI method is explained, and its efficiency and correctness are demonstrated throughout this paper. This new rule-based VAI method drastically reduces problem size by (1) performing PSA event tree simplification by applying VAI rules to the PSA event tree, (2) calculating preliminary prevention sets with event tree headings, (3) converting the shortest preliminary prevention set into a sabotage fault tree, and (4) performing usual VAI procedure. Since this new rule-based VAI method drastically reduces VAI problem size, it provides very quick and economical VAI procedure. In spite of an extremely reduced sabotage fault tree, this method generates identical vital areas to those by traditional VAI method. It is strongly recommended that this new rule-based VAI method be applied to the physical protection of nuclear power plants and other complex safety-critical systems such as chemical and military systems.

In this study event-related optical signals were extracted from the prefrontal cortexes using functional near infrared spectroscopy while subjects were carrying out 2-back working memory tasks. Four events such as start, yes, no, and error were considered based on the onsets of the stimulus, positive true responses, positive false responses, and negative responses in the 2-back working memory task, respectively. The optical signals recorded were analyzed by peri-event histograms and power spectrum distributions. The results showed specific characteristics of the event-related optical neuronal signals and an opened possibility of an application to control a non-invasive brain-computer interface system or an object of a virtual reality.

A crank angle-based engine control system has been developed for use as an engine research tool to provide precise control of the fuel injection(timing and duration) and ignition(timing and dwell) in real-time. The engine event information is provided by the engine shaft encoder, and the engine control system uses this information to generate spark and injector control signals for relevant cylinders. Eight different engine types and four different rotary encoder resolutions can be accommodated by this system. Also this system allows a user to individually control the ignition and fuel injection for each cylinder in a simple manner such as through a keyboard or in a real-time operation from a closed-loop control program.
In this paper, control software architecture is designed to enable a heterogeneous multiple humanoid robot demonstration executing tasks cooperating with each other. In the heterogeneous humanoid robot team, one large humanoid robot and two small humanoid robots are included. For the efficient and reliable information sharing between many software components for humanoid control, sensing and planning, CORBA based software framework is applied. The humanoid tasks are given in terms of finite state diagram based human-robot interface, which is interpreted into the XML based languages defining the details of the humanoid mission. A state transition is triggered based on the event which is described in terms of conditions on the sensor measurements such as robot locations and the external vision system. In the demonstration of the heterogeneous humanoid team, the task of multiple humanoid cleaning the table is given to the humanoid robots and successfully executed based on the given state diagram.
We present CReMeS, a CORBA-compliant design and implementation of a new real-time communication service. It provide for of a new real-time communication service. It provide for efficient, predictable, and scalable communication between information producers and consumers. Experimental results demonstrate that CReMeS can achieve better performance, predictability and scalability than a Real-Time implementaion of the CORBA Event Service.
In this paper, we propose a MapReduce-supported clustering technique for collecting and classifying distributed workflow enactment event logs as a preprocessing tool. Especially, we would call the distributed workflow enactment event logs as Workflow BIG-Logs, because they are satisfied with as well as well-fitted to the 5V properties of BIG-Data like Volume, Velocity, Variety, Veracity and Value. The clustering technique we develop in this paper is intentionally devised for the preprocessing phase of a specific workflow process mining and analysis algorithm based upon the workflow BIG-Logs. In other words, It uses the Map-Reduce framework as a Workflow BIG-Logs processing platform, it supports the IEEE XES standard data format, and it is eventually dedicated for the preprocessing phase of the ${\rho}$-Algorithm that is a typical workflow process mining algorithm based on the structured information control nets. More precisely, The Workflow BIG-Logs can be classified into two types: of activity-based clustering patterns and performer-based clustering patterns, and we try to implement an activity-based clustering pattern algorithm based upon the Map-Reduce framework. Finally, we try to verify the proposed clustering technique by carrying out an experimental study on the workflow enactment event log dataset released by the BPI Challenges.
This study proposes a dynamic reliability analysis of control system as a method of quantitative evaluation of its performance in probabilistic terms. In this dynamic reliability analysis, the failure event is defined as an event that the dynamic response of the structural system exceeds a displacement limit, whereas the conventional reliability analysis method has limitations that do not properly assess the actual time history response of the structure subjected to dynamic loads, such as earthquakes and high winds, by taking the static response into account in the failure event. In this first paper, we discuss the control effect of the viscous damper on the seismic performance of the member-level failure where the failure event of the structural member consists of the union set of time-sequential member failures during the earthquake excitations and the failure probability of the earthquake-excited structural member is computed using system reliability approach to consider the statistical dependence of member failures between the subsequent time points. Numerical results demonstrate that the proposed approach can present a reliable assessment of the control performance of the viscous damper system in comparison with MCS method. The most important advantage of the proposed approach can provide us more accurate estimate of failure probability of the structural control system by using the actual time-history responses obtained by dynamic response analysis.

Multi-valued decision making for transitional stochastic events was newly derived based on conditional probability of knowledge database which included experts'knowledge and experience. The proposed multi-valued decision making was successfully adopted to the determination of the five levels of the vigilance of a subject during the EEG (electroencephalogram) recording; awake stage (stage W), and sleep stages (stage REM (rapid eye movement), stage 1, stage 2, stage $\sfrac{3}{4}$). Innovative feature of the proposed method is that the algorithm of decision making can be constructed only by use of the knowledge database, inspected by experts. The proposed multi-valued decision making with a mathematical background of the probability can also be applicable widely, in industries and in other medical fields for purposes of the multi-valued decision making.
