  • In this paper, we have proposed a novel omnidirectional power divider/combiner configuration. By using the even- and odd- mode analysis. we analyse the proposed power divider/combiner circuit. In order to show the validity of the presented power divider/combiner circuit. We have designed and implemented the proposed circuit of the center frequency of 2.3GHz.

  • In this paper, We report the miniaturization of superconducting microwave power dividers based on lumped element equivalent circuits. To do this, we analyzed a conventional branch-type power divider by using an ABCD matrix under even and odd mode excitation. Then, we calculated each lumped element impedance throughout this analysis of a transmission line matrix. Also we simulated our equivalent circuits made of lumped elements by using a full wave analysis, em Sonnet. Our deign of microwave power divider based on simulated results was fabricated on high-$T_c$ superconducting thin films deposited on MgO substrate. Experimental results were reported in terms of bandwidth, center frequency, and phase difference between $S_{21}$ and $S_{31}$. We confirm that our design will be useful in the future microwave power systum.

Fully Printed Dual-Band Power Divider Miniaturized by CRLH Phase-Shift Lines

  • In this letter, a compact and fully printed composite right- and left-handed (CRLH) dual-band power divider is proposed. The branches of the conventional Wilkinson power divider are replaced by subwavelength CRLH phase-shift lines having $+90^{\circ}$ for one frequency and $-90^{\circ}$ for another frequency for dual-band and miniaturization performance. Equations are derived for the even- and odd-mode analysis combined with the dual-band CRLH circuit. A PCS and a WLAN band are chosen as the test case and the circuit approach agrees with the CAD simulation and the measurement. Additionally, the CRLH property is shown with the dispersion diagram and the eightfold size reduction is noted.

  • In this paper, we have dealt with the design and analysis methods of the frequency charateristics for the power dividers which are extensively used in CATV and DBS(Direct Broadcasting Satellite) systems. The lumped-element circuits have been implemented based on the Wilkinson power divider and the charateristics of the circuits approximated to ideal transformer examined. Then the frequency characteristics are analysised by using even - odd-mode method. Furthermore, in order to improve the charateristics, the optimum design method by adding compensating circuit has been Proposed and it has been shown that the charateristics are improved remarkably.

  • In this paper, the spectral domain approach is employed to investigate the characteristics of symmetrical and asymmetrical broadside-coupleed coplanar waveguides(BSC-CPW). These structures have large even(c)-odd(.pi.) mode-velocity ratio, suitable for wide-band and tight-coupling microwave circuit design. Efficient design parameters can be obtained from the effective dielectric constants and characteristic impedances calculated by varying the strip widths and slot widths in the BSC-CPW structure.

Basis Mode of Turbulent Flame in a Swirl-Stabilized Gas Turbine using LES and POD

  • Unsteady numerical study has been conducted on combustion dynamics of a lean-premixed swirl-stabilized gas turbine swirl injector. A three-dimensional computation method utilizing the message passing interface (MPI) parallel architecture, large eddy simulation(LES), and proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) technique was applied. The unsteady turbulent flame dynamics are simulated so that the turbulent flame structure can be characterized in detail. It was observed that some fuel lumps escape from the primary combustion zone, and move downstream and consequently produce hot spots. Those flame dynamics coincides with experimental data. In addition, basis modes of the unsteady turbulent flame are characterized using proper orthogonal decomposition (POD) analysis. The flame structure based on odd basis modes is apparently larger than that of even ones. The flame structure can be extracted from the summation of the basis modes and eigenvectors at any moment.

  • In this paper, a $\lambda/4$ hairpin resonator is proposed to reduce the size of planar resonators for a LTCC MLC bandpass filter. The $\lambda/4$ hairpin resonator operates as stepped impedance resonator (SIR) without changing the width of the planar resonator. It is composed of two sections those are parallel coupled line and transmission line. The characteristic impedance of two sections is different each other. The design formulas of the bandpass filter using the coupling element at the arbitrary position are derived from even and odd-mode analysis. The formulas can take account of the arbitrary coupling of lumped ana/or distributed resonators. The advantage of this filter is its abilities to change freely the coupling structure between two resonators. Experimental bandpass filters for 2.4GHz Band are implemented and their performances are shown.

  • A multilayer two-stage LC bandpass filter using low-temperature cofired-ceramic (LTCC) is proposed in this paper. The proposed bandpass filter is composed of two ceramic substrates with different dielectric constant instead of single ceramic material from top to bottom layer. The bandpass filter size is $2.0 mm{\times}1.2 mm{\times}0.8 mm$. Positioning of attenuation polefrequency, importance parameter for a performance of filter, is discussed using even-odd mode analysis by tuned capacitance of coupling capacitor and those results is implemented to LTCC filter circuit. Measured filter performances show that the insertion losses are -4.5dB, -4.1dB at 2.45GHz, 2.75GHz and the return losses are -8.5dB, 8.7dB.

  • A new analysis method of Tap-011 for CATV and DBS systems was proposed and investigated by using 4-port and 3-port equivalent circuits. As an analysis method the even odd-mode theory for a symmetrical coupled-line directional coupler was introduced, and then it was applied to transformer type directional coupler. By comparing the results of simulation and measurement, the validity of the proposed analysis method was confirmed. Furthermore, the Tap-off has been broadened from 5 MHz to 2.500 MHz by adopting the proposed theory.

Vibration Analysis of Transformer DC bias Caused by HVDC based on EMD Reconstruction

  • This paper proposes a new approach utilizing empirical mode decomposition (EMD) reconstruction to process vibration signals of a transformer under DC bias caused by high voltage direction transmission (HVDC), which is the potential cause of additional vibration and noise from transformer. Firstly, the Calculation Method is presented and a 3D model of transformer is simulated to analyze transformer deformation characteristic and the result indicate the main vibration is produced along axial direction of three core limbs. Vibration test system has been built and test points on the core and shell of transformer have been measured. Then, the signal reconstruction method for transformer vibration based on EMD is proposed. Through the EMD decomposition, the corrupted noise can be selectively reconstructed by the certain frequency IMFs and better vibration signals of transformer have been obtained. After EMD reconstruction, the vibrations are compared between transformer in normal work and with DC bias. When DC bias occurs, odd harmonics, vibration of core and shell, behave as a nonlinear increase and the even harmonics keep unchanged with DC current. Experiment results are provided to collaborate our theoretical analysis and to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed EMD method.
