  • The fault detection and diagnosis technology may be applied in order to decrease the energy consumption and the maintenance cost of the air-conditioning system. In this paper, two fault detection methods were considered. One is a generic neural network, and the other is an moving average neural network. In order to compare the performance of fault detection results from these methods, two different types of faults in an air-conditioning system were applied. These are the condenser 30% fouling and the evaporator fan 25% slowdown. Test results showed that the moving average neural network was more effective for the detection of partial faults in the air-conditioning system.

  • The fault detection and diagnosis technology may be applied in order to decrease the energy consumption and the maintenance cost of the air-conditioning system. To detect partial faults of the air-conditioning system, a neural network algorithm may be used. In this study, the neural network algorithm using normalized input data by the standard deviation was applied. And the [7$\times$10$\times$10$\times$1] neural network structure was selected. Test results showed that the neural network algorithm using normalized input data was very effective to detect the condenser fouling and the evaporator fan fault of an air-conditioning system.

  • The fault detection and diagnosis technology may be applied in order to decrease the energy consumption and the maintenance cost of the air-conditioning system. In this study, two different types of faults in the air-conditioning system, such as the condenser fouling and the evaporator fan slowdown, were considered. The neural network algorithm combined with data preprocessor was developed and applied to detect the faults of the real system. Test results show that this method is very effective to detect the faults in the air-conditioning system. Therefore, this developed method can be used for the development of the air-conditioner fault detection system.

  • This study deals with on-line fault detection and diagnosis for heat exchanger of variable speed refrigeration system. Conventional studies about fault of heat exchanger in refrigeration system have used temperature and pressure information. The temperature and pressure are able to be used valuably for faults detection of constant speed refrigeration system. However in case of variable speed refrigeration system, the temperature and pressure are no longer useful information for fault detection due to compensation effect of feedback controller. While current information is possible to detect faults of variable speed refrigeration system. The current information was detected in an inverter, it was used after transforming rms value. The faults of variable speed refrigeration system are divided into electrical faults and mechanical faults. We performed fault detection and diagnosis about heat exchanger among mechanical faults such as condenser fouling and evaporator fan fouling through some experiments.
