Peach pulp was separated into serum and insoluble pulp by centrifugation at 11,000 rpm for 10 min. The serum portion was concentrated at $50{\sim}55^{\circ}C$ and $30{\sim}50\;mmHg$ with aroma recovery. Vapor generated at the early stage of vacuum evaporation was condensed and taken as aroma fractions: AR-1($0{\sim}5%$), AR-2($5{\sim}10$), AR-3($10{\sim}15%$), AR-4($15{\sim}20%$). Dynamic headspace concentration method was used to trap volatile compounds in aroma fractions and identification of aroma compounds was made by GC/MS. The yield of serum separated from peach pulp was 70.5% and the serum fraction contained the most of aroma compounds. Thirty-one aroma compounds, including ethylene, benzaldehyde, l-limonene and ${\gamma}-dodecalactone$ were identified. The efficiency of aroma recovery was reduced, as the recovery time was extended, as indicated by less peak numbers and peach areas of aroma fractions.
Kiwifruit pulp was separated into insoluble pulp and serum by centrifugation at 14,000 rpm for 10 min. The serum portion was concentrated at $30{\sim}50mmHg\;and\;50{\sim}55^{\circ}C$ with aroma recovery. Vapor generated at the early stage of vacuum evaporation was condensed and taken as aroma fractions: $E-I\;(0{\sim}10%),\;E-II,\;(10{\sim}20%)$. The volatile flavor compounds in kiwifruit pulp were collected by dynamic headspace technique and analyzed by GC and GC/MSD. The yield of serum separated from kiwifruit pulp was 70.1% and insoluble pulp fraction contained aroma compounds more than that of the serum. Twenty-six aroma compounds, including (E)-2-hexanal and ethyl butanoate were detected. The efficiency of the aroma recovery was reduced as the recovery time was extended, as indicated by the less peak numbers and kiwifruit areas of aroma fractions.
This study examined the conditions of filtration and concentration of methanol extract from biomass. Filtration efficiency was improved by adding diatomaceous earth as a filter aid. The optimal amount of diatomaceous earth was 6% (w/w) to reduce the filtration time. The filtration time was reduced by 4.2% in first extraction, 30.0% in second extraction, 22.8% in third extraction, and 19.0% in fourth extraction, respectively. The optimal temperature of water bath was below 50$^{\circ}C$ for preventing paclitaxel degradation during concentration of methanol extract using a rotary evaporator. The temperature of concentrated solution in rotary evaporator was relatively low compared to bath temperature because of latent heat of evaporation. The stopping point of concentration in rotary evaporator for the following step was at a specific gravity of 0.96 of the concentrated solution in terms of the purity and yield of paclitaxel. This information is very useful for mass extraction of biomass for the recovery of paclitaxel from plant cell culture.

Coated conductor is required to have good critical current property for high efficiency of electric power applications. Until now, long coated conductor does not show high Jc over 3 MA/$cm^2$ in thick superconducting layer because of texture degradation by thick superconducting layer. In this study, in order to overcome this issue, thicker superconducting layer was deposited with optimized conditions to reduce the degradation of critical current density. SmBCO superconducting coated conductor was deposited with 1~3 um of thickness at $750\sim850^{\circ}C$ under 15~20 mTorr of oxygen partial pressure using batch type EDDC( evaporation using drum in dual chamber). The buffered substrate for superconducting layer deposition was used IBAD-MgO template with the architecture of $LaMnO_3/MgO/Y_2O_3/Al_2O_3$/Hastelloy. After fabrication of coated conductor, critical current was measured by 4-prove method under self-magnetic field and 77K. In addition, surface morphology and texture were analyzed by SEM and XRD, respectively. 3 um thick SmBCO coated conductor shows highest $I_C$ values of 638A/cm-w in 1 m long in the world.
The liquid phase LPG injection (LPLI) system (the third generation technology) has been considered as one of the next generation fuel supply systems for LPG vehicles, since it has a very strong potential to accomplish the higher power, higher efficiency, and lower emission characteristics than the mixer type(the second generation technology) fuel supply system However. when a liquid LPG fuel is injected into the inlet duct of an engine, a large quantity of heat is extracted due to evaporation of fuel. This leads to freezing of the moisture in the air around the outlet of a nozzle, which is called icing phenomenon. It may cause damage to the outlet nozzle of an injector or inlet valve seat. In this work, the experimental investigation of the icing phenomenon was carried out The results showed that the icing phenomenon and process were mainly affected by humidity of inlet air instead of air temperature in the inlet duel. Also, it was observed that the total ice formed around the nozzle weighs at about $150mg{\sim}260mg$ after injection for ten minutes. And some fuel species were found in the ice attached at the front side of a nozzle, while frozen ice attached at the back of a nozzle was mostly' consisted of moisture of inlet air. Therefore, some frozen ice deposit. detached from front nozzle of an injector, may cause a problem of unfavorable air fuel ratio control in the small LPLI engine.
We report for the first time highly efficient trans-reflective color filters capable of demonstrating coloration in both transmission and reflection modes by taking advantage of a multilayer stack consisting of MgF2 and TiO2 used respectively as the low and high index materials. In order to enable such trans-reflective performance, securing an optimal stop band assuming an appropriate bandwidth within the visible regime is pivotal, which was realized by tailoring the thicknesses and the numbers of TiO2-MgF2 bi-layers. Three devices were designed through rigorous simulations and developed via e-beam evaporation to demonstrate vivid blue, green, and red colors in the reflection mode, and yellow, magenta, and cyan colors in the transmission mode, featuring an enhanced efficiency exceeding 90% under normal incidence. The color performance of the filters was examined by referring to the chromaticity coordinates of the transmission and reflection spectra, alongside photographed color images. The dependence of the performance on the angle of incidence was explored with respect to incident polarization, indicating that a transmission surpassing 60% could be stably maintained up to an angle of 75°. Polarization independent transfer characteristics were especially achieved for the normal incidence. The proposed devices may be readily extended to other spectral regimes by adjusting the thicknesses of the films.

Heavy hydrocarbon reforming is a core technology for "Dirty energy smart". Heavy hydrocarbons are components of fossil fuels, biomass, coke oven gas and etc. Heavy hydrocarbon reforming converts the fuels into $H_2$-rich syngas. And then $H_2$-rich syngas is used for the production of electricity, synthetic fuels and petrochemicals. Energy can be used efficiently and obtained from various sources by using $H_2$-rich syngas from heavy hydrocarbon reforming. Especially, the key point of "Dirty energy smart" is using "dirty fuel" which is wasted in an inefficient way. New energy conversion laboratory of KAIST has been researched diesel reforming for solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) as a part of "Dirty energy smart". Diesel is heavy hydrocarbon fuels which has higher carbon number than natural gas, kerosene and gasoline. Diesel reforming has difficulties due to the evaporation of fuels and coke formation. Nevertheless, diesel reforming technology is directly applied to "Dirty fuel" because diesel has the similar chemical properties with "Dirty fuel". On the other hand, SOFC has advantages on high efficiency and wasted heat recovery. Nippon oil Co. of Japan recently commercializes 700We class SOFC system using city gas. Considering the market situation, the development of diesel reformer has a great ripple effect. SOFC system can be applied to auxiliary power unit and distributed power generation. In addition, "Dirty energy smart" can be realized by applying diesel reforming technology to "Dirty fuel". As well as material developments, multidirectional approaches are required to reform heavy hydrocarbon fuels and use $H_2$-rich gas in SOFC. Gd doped ceria (CGO, $Ce_{1-x}Gd_xO_{2-y}$) has been researched for not only electrolyte materials but also catalysts supports. In addition, catalysts infiltrated electrode over porous $La_{0.8}Sr_{0.2}Ga_{0.8}Mg_{0.2}O_3-{\delta}$ and catalyst deposition at three phase boundary are being investigated to improve the performance of SOFC. On the other hand, nozzle for diesel atomization and post-reforming for light-hydrocarbons removal are examples of solving material problems in multidirectional approaches. Likewise, multidirectional approaches are necessary to realize "Dirty energy smart" like reforming "Dirty fuel" for SOFC.
For the prolonged delivery and sustained release rates of low molecular weight drugs, poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) microparticles containing the drug SKL-2020 have been investigated. On increasing polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) concentration (from 0.2% to 5%), the size of microparticles decreased (from $48.02{\mu}m$ to $10.63{\mu}m$) and more uniform size distribution was noticeable due to the powerful emulsifying ability of PVA. A higher drug loading (from 5% to 20%) caused a larger concentration gradient between 2 phases at the polymer precipitation step; this resulted in decreased encapsulation efficiency (from 34.19% to 25.67%) and a greater initial burst (from 61.71% to 70.05%). SKL-2020-loaded PLGA microparticles prepared with different fabrication conditions exhibited unique release patterns of SKL-2020. High PVA concentration and high drug loading led to an initial burst effect by rapid drug diffusion through the polymer matrix. Since PLGA microparticles enabled the slow release of SKL-2020 over 1 week in vitro and in vivo, more convenient and comfortable treatment could be facilitated with less frequent administration. It is feasible to design a release profile by mixing microparticles that were prepared with different fabrication conditions. By this method, the initial burst could be repressed properly and drug release rate could decrease.

A neoglycolipid, N-stearyl lactobionamide(N-SLBA) was synthesized and the incorporation of the neoglycolipid into liposomes was achieved in order to prepare neo-galactosylated liposome as potential drug carrier for active targeting to galactose receptor existing cell and tissue. N-SLBA was synthesized by the covalent linkage between carboxyl group of lactobionic acid and amino group of stearylamine(SA). The yield of N-SLBA was about 52.3%. It was identified with $1650\;cm^{-1}$ in IR chart, 7.5 ppm in NMR spectra, $61^{\circ}C$ endothermic peak in DSC heating curve. Surface-modified large unilamellar vesicle with galactose(N-SLBA-LUV) could be prepared with N-SLBA by reverse evaporation method. N-SLBA-LUV was identified by TEM and measuring of membrane function. The maximum amount of N-SLBA incorporated into liposome is up to about 15 mol%. Compared with control liposome (SA-LUV), N-SLBA-LUV showed lower encapsulation efficiency of MTX. It might due to the loss of positive surface charge of stearylamine. N-SLBA-LUV was similar to SA-LUV in aspect of osmotic behavior. N-SLBA-LUV prepared with N-SLBA would be expected to be a good carrier for active targeting to galactose receptor existing cell and tissue.

This study puts focus on the optimization of growth temperature of CIGS absorber layer which affects severely the performance of solar cells. The CIGS absorber layers were prepared by three-stage co-evaporation of metal elements in the order of In-Ga-Se. The effect of the growth temperature of 1st stage was found not to be so important, and 350$^{\circ}C$ to be the lowest optimum temperature. In the case of growth temperature at 2nd/3rd stage, the optimum temperature was revealed to be 550$^{\circ}C$. The XRD results of CIGS films showed a strong (112) preferred orientation and the Raman spectra of CIGS films showed only the Al mode peak at 173cm$\^$-1/. Scanning electron microscopy results revealed very small grains at 2nd/3rd stage growth temperature of 480$^{\circ}C$. At higher temperatures, the grain size increased together with a reduction in the number of the voids. The optimization of experimental parameters above mentioned, through the repeated fabrication and characterization of unit layers and devices, led to the highest conversion efficiency of 15.4% from CIGS-based thin film solar cell with a structure of Al/ZnO/CdS/CIGS/Mo/glass.
