증발디젤분무의 발달 과정에 관한 연구 (A Study on Development Process of Evaporating Diesel Spray)

  • In this study, the effects of change in ambient gas viscosity on spray structure have been investigated in the high temperature and pressure field. To analyze the structure of evaporative diesel spray is important in speculation of mixture formation process. Emissions of diesel engines can be reduced by the control of the mixture formation process. Therefore, this study examines the evaporating spray structure in the constant volume chamber. The viscosity of ambient gas was selected as the experimental parameter, is changed from 21.7 mPa s to 32.1 mPa s by changing in ambient gas temperature. In order to obtain images of the liquid and vapor-phase of injected spray, exciplex fluorescence method was used in this study. The liquid and vapor-phase images were taken with 35mm still camera and CCD camera, respectively. Consequentially, it could be confirmed that the distribution of vapor concentration is more uniform in the case of the ambient gas with high viscosity than in that of the ambient gas with low viscosity.

디젤기관 연료분무의 분열 현상에 대한 수치해석적 연구 (A Numerical Study on the Break-up of the Fuel Spray in Diesel Engine)

  • Three dimensional numerical study of non-evaporating and evaporating spray characteristics was performed in a quiescent and motoring condition of direct injection diesel engine. The calculation parameter was breakup model. The breakup models used were Reitz & Diwakar model and TAB model. The modified k-${\varepsilon}$ turbulence model considering the compressibility effect due to the compression and expansion of piston was used. The calculation results of the spray tip penetration and tip velocity using the TAB model showed similar trends comparing with the experimental data. Although the evaporation rate was not nearly affected with the breakup model at the higher injection pressure, in the low injection case, the evaporation rate result using the TAB model became higher than that of R&D model. The evaporation rate was increased with the injection pressure due to the vigorous interaction with the gas field.

  • A thermodynamic analysis of the R404A refrigeration system with an internal heat exchanger using R744 as a secondary refrigerant is presented in this paper to optimize the design for operating parameters of the system. The main results are summarized as follows: The COP increases with increasing subcooling and superheating degree of R404A, internal heat exchanger and compression efficiency of the R404A cycle and evaporating temperature of the R744 cycle and decreasing temperature difference of the cascade heat exchanger and condensing temperature of the R404A cycle. The mass flow ratio decreases with increasing evaporating temperature of the R744 cycle and internal heat exchanger efficiency of the R404A cycle and decreasing subcooling and superheating degree of the R744 cycle, temperature difference of the cascade heat exchanger and condensing temperature of the R404A cycle.

Flow Distributions in the Channel of Plate Heat Exchanger Applied in Vacuum Evaporating Distiller System

  • Nowadays Plate Heat Exchanger (PHE) is widely used in different industries such as chemical, food and pharmaceutical process and refrigeration due to the efficient heat transfer performance, extreme compact design and efficient use of the construction material. In present work, PHE is applied in the fresh water generator system. Fresh water generators or desalinators are installed in ship to convert seawater to fresh water using heat from engines. PHE is an important part of a condensing or evaporating system. Among many of factors which should be concentrated on, the heat transfer and pressure drop is most important parts during sizing and rating the performance of PHE. Flow maldistribution is common but it will significantly reduce the heat exchanger performance. In this paper provide a overview of PHE cover basic of theory and conduct a numerical approach for flow distribution in plate channel. An experimental study on the performance of fresh water generator system which developed by plate heat exchanger will presented in future research. Thus, extensive experiment and analysis is required to study the thermal and fluid flow characteristics of PHE.

탄화수소계 냉매 R-290을 사용하는 냉동.공조 장치의 사이클 특성에 관한 연구 (Cycle performance of refrigeration and air-conditioning system using the hydrocarbon refrigerant R-290)

  • This paper describes the cycle performance of heat-pump system using R-22 and R-290. Experiments were performed in the smooth tube with inside diameter of 10.07mm and outside diameter of 12.07 mm and grooved inner tube having 75 fins with a height of 0.25mm Condensing temperatures were held constantly between 318K and 328 K while evaporating temperatures were varied from 257 K to 288 K mass velocities from 51 to $280 kg/m^2s$. From the experiments it was known that the evaporating temperature and condensing temperature had more affected by the compressor shaft power than the tube geometries. Cooling capacity of the R-22 and R-290 had similar values in the smooth and grooved inner tubes. The coefficient of performance(COP) was calculated using the compressor shaft power volumetric refrigeration capacity compression ratio and cooling capacity. The COP of the R-290 had slightly higher values than that of R-22 The major parameters affecting the heat pump cycle performance wee the refrigerant proper-ties and operating conditions rather than the geometric shapes of the heat exchanger

  • In this paper, evaporation heat transfer characteristics at a inner grooved tube were studied using a new natural refrigerants R-290, R-600a and HCFC refrigerant R-22. Experiments were performed in the inner tube with outside diameter of 12.70mm, having 75 fins with a fin height of 0.25mm. The following results were obtained from this research. On the evaporating heat transfer characteristics, the maximum increment of heat transfer coefficient was found in R-290. Average heat transfer coefficient was obtained the maximum value in R-290 and the minimum value in R-22. It reveals that the natural refrigerant can be used as a substitute for R-22. In the grooved inner tube, 70% of the increment of the heat transfer coefficient was obtained compared to the smooth tube. Comparing the heat transfer coefficient between experimental results and simulation data of other's, the Kandlikar's correlated equation was closely approximated to the author's experimental results in the smooth tube or grooved inner one.

  • This study was to analyze the effect of mixed fuel composition and mass fraction on the characteristics of evaporating diesel spray and combustion under the various ambient conditions. The characteristics of vaporization distribution and combustion were visualized by laser induced fluorescent method and direct photography. The experiments were conducted in the constant volume vessel and rapid compression expansion machine with optical access. Multi-component fuels mixed i-octane, n-dodecane and n-hexadecane were injected the vessel and rapid compression expansion machine with electronically controlled common rail injector. Experimental results show that fuel vapor formed stratified distribution. And vaporization and diffusion are become actively increasing in mass fraction of low boiling point component. Consequently multi-component fuels were expected to control the evaporating behavior according to their suitable mass fraction.

분위기압력에 따른 CRDI 분사계의 분무특성 연구 (A Study on the Spray Characteristics of CRDI System with Ambient Pressure)

  • The studies of the spray characteristics for a CRDI engine had been advancing by many researchers, because the performance and exhaust emission were significantly affected with the spray characteristics. But most experiments of the studies would be done at low ambient pressure conditions under 2MPa. In this study, injection rates were measured with Zeuch's method at various ambient pressures to 5MPa and a constant injection pressure of 130MPa. On the same conditions, non-evaporating spray images were taken with a high speed camera and analyzed carefully with Adobe Photoshop CS3. Macroscopic spray characteristics and breakup processes in the spray could be found from the examined and analyzed data. The initial injection rate, penetration, angle, velocity and breakup of the spray were practically affected with a variation of the ambient pressure, but the injection start time and injection period were scarcely affected. As the ambient pressure was higher, the breakup of a high density droplet region in the spray was happened slowly and the main position of breakup was shifted from a front of the spray to a upstream around a nozzle. The results and techniques of spray visualization and injection rate measurement in this study would be practically effective to study a high pressure diesel spray for a CRDI.

  • This paper presents the comparison of heat transfer and pressure drop of various secondary refrigerants (single-phase and two-phase) in the indirect refrigeration system. The main results were summarized as follows: In case of heat transfer, it is useful to use secondary refrigerants in low evaporating temperature region and the heat transfer coefficient of single-phase is larger than two-phase secondary refrigerants. In case of pressure drop, it is useful to use secondary refrigerants in high evaporating temperature region and the pressure drop of two-phase is smaller than single-phase secondary refrigerant. Also, $CO_2$ is the best useful because pressure drop of $CO_2$ among the secondary refrigerants is the smallest.

  • Regenerative evaporative cooling is known as an environment-friendly and energy efficient cooling method. A regenerative evaporative cooler (REC) consisting of dry and wet channels is able to cool down the air stream below the inlet wet-bulb temperature. In the regenerative evaporative cooler, the cooling effect is achieved by redirecting a portion of the air flown out of the dry channel into the wet channel and spraying water onto the redirected air. In this study, a horizontal regenerative cooler is considered. In the horizontal regenerative cooler, the flow direction of evaporating water has a right angle to the flow direction of supply air. This difference was investigated with visualization technique and simplified 2-module performance test was done in a thermo-environment chamber. Optimum design configuration is changed due to the wet channel which are easily fully covered with evaporating water and block the air flow inside the channel. Applying the optimized fin configuration design with the highly wetting surface treatment, a regenerative evaporative cooler was fabricated and tested to Identify the cooling performance improvement and operation characteristics. From the experimental results at the intake condition of $32^{\circ}C$ and 50% RH, the supply temperature was measured to be around $23.4^{\circ}C$. The cooling effectiveness based on the inlet dewpoint temperature was evaluated 73% which is almost close to the design expectation.
