  • In Water Distribution Systems (WDSs), can abnormal hydraulic and water quality conditions such as red-water phenomenon and leakage occur. To restore them, data is generated through various meters data to predict and detect. However, in the case of leakage if difficult to detect unless direct exploration is performed. Among them, unreported leakage, are not seen visually and account for the most considerable volumes of leakage, which leads to economic loss. Bur direct exploration is limited through on site conditions such as securing professional manpower. In this paper, leakage volumes and location were randomly generated for the WDS, which was assumed to be calibrated, and it was detected through a deep learning model. For abnormal data generation, the leakage was simulated using the emitter coefficient, and leakage detection was successfully performed through the generated abnormal data and normal data.

  • The study aims to develop scenarios for efficient groundwater use using existing wells in order to prepare for an eventual drought. In the recent decades, droughts are not only intensifying, but they are also spreading into territories where droughts used to be less intense and relatively infrequent. With the increasing disaster, efficient groundwater use is urgently needed not only to prevent the problem of groundwater depletion but also drought risk reduction. Thus, the research addressed the problem of efficient aquifer use as source of water during drought and emergencies. The research focused on well network system applied to Yanggok-ri in Korea using simulation models in visual MODFLOW. The approach consists to variate groundwater pumping rate in the most important wells used for irrigation across the study area and evaluate the pumping effect on water level fluctuation. From the evaluation, the pumping period, appropriate pumping rate of each well and the most vulnerable wells are determined for a better groundwater management. The project results divide the study area into two different regions (A and B), where the wells in the region A (western part of the region) show a crucial drop in water level from May to early July and in august as consequence of water pumping. While wells in region B are also showing a drawdown in groundwater level but relatively less compare to region A. The project suggests a scenarios of wells which should operate considering water demand, groundwater level depletion and daily pumping rate. Well Network System in relevant project, by pumping in another well where water is more abundant and keep the fixed storage in region A, is a measure to improve preparedness to reduce eventual disaster. The improving preparedness measure from the project, indicates its implication to better groundwater management.

  • Competition in the broadcasting market is intensifying as OTT services are spreading. And Korea is positioned as a competent international contents supply base. This can be helpful for the domestic contents production industry. However, it can result in being incorporated as a subcontractor in the global video industry. Therefore, it is necessary for Korean OTT operators to expand their market upto overseas and maintain competitiveness by linking content competitiveness to the sales expansion. This study was conducted to reduce the risk and encourage implementation through feasibility analysis of overseas business of domestic OTT operators. The North American market was selected as a region with high potential through in-depth interviews with experts and literatures review. And it was confirmed that the partnership with local platform is effective. Then, the sales and input costs were estimated, and business was evaluated using the net present value method. Totally 18 scenarios were created using multiple estimates for copyright cost, subscribers, and rate, which are highly uncertain. From the analyses, 8 scenarios were found to be acceptable. And copyright cost has the greatest impact on business success, followed by rates and subscribers.

  • The safe evacuation of people during disasters is of utmost importance. Various life safety evacuation simulation tools have been developed and implemented, with most relying on algorithms that analyze maps to extract the shortest path and guide agents along predetermined routes. While effective in predicting evacuation routes in stable disaster conditions and short timeframes, this approach falls short in dynamic situations where disaster scenarios constantly change. Existing algorithms struggle to respond to such scenarios, prompting the need for a more adaptive evacuation route algorithm that can respond to changing disasters. Artificial intelligence technology based on reinforcement learning holds the potential to develop such an algorithm. As a fundamental step in algorithm development, this study aims to evaluate whether an evacuation algorithm developed by reinforcement learning satisfies the performance conditions of the evacuation simulation tool required by IMO MSC.1/Circ1533.

  • The growth of the metaverse has been accelerated by the increased demand for non-face-to-face interactions due to COVID-19 and advancements in technologies such as blockchain and NFTs. However, with the emergence of various metaverse platforms and the corresponding rise in users, criminal cases such as ransomware attacks, copyright infringements, and sexual offenses have occurred within the metaverse. Consequently, the need for artifacts that can be utilized as digital evidence within metaverse systems has increased. However, there is a lack of information about artifacts that can be used as digital evidence. Furthermore, metaverse security evaluation and forensic analysis are also insufficient, and the absence of attack scenarios and related guidelines makes forensics challenging. To address these issues, this paper presents artifacts that can be used for user behavior analysis and timeline analysis through dynamic analysis of Roblox, a representative metaverse gaming solution. Based on analyzing interrelationship between identified artifacts through memory forensics and log file analysis, this paper suggests the potential usability of artifacts in metaverse crime scenarios. Moreover, it proposes improvements by analyzing the current legal and regulatory aspects to address institutional deficiencies.

  • One of the most important issues in progressive collapse mechanism of the buildings is evaluation of the collapse distribution in presence of the earthquake loads. Here, collapse propagation is investigated by tracking down the location and type of the collapsed beam and column elements, from the first element to the entire buildings. 6-story reinforced concrete ordinary moment resisting frame buildings with one directional mass eccentricity of 0%, 5%, 15% and 25% are studied to investigate differences among the progressive collapse mechanism of the regular and irregular buildings. According to the results of the nonlinear time history analyses, there are some patterns to predict progressive collapse scenarios in beam and column elements of the similar regular and irregular buildings. Results also show that collapse distribution patterns are approximately independent of the earthquake records.

  • Single parity check (SPC) product codes are simple yet powerful codes that are used to correct errors and/or recover erasures. The focus of this paper is to evaluate the performance of such codes under erasure scenarios and to develop a closed-form tight upper bound for the post-decoding erasure rate. Closed-form exact expressions are derived for up to seven erasures. Previously published closed-form bounds assumed that all unrecoverable patterns should contain four erasures in a square. Additional non-square patterns are accounted for in the proposed expressions. The derived expressions are verified using exhaustive search. Eight or more erasures are accounted for by using a bound. The developed expressions improve the evaluation of the recoverability of SPC product codes without the need for simulation or search algorithms, whether exhaustive or novel.

  • Interference scenarios involving and a methodology for a terrestrial international mobile telecommunication(IMT) system and mobile-satellite service(MSS) system in a co-channel environment are established. Taking into account a practical deployment situation for both systems, a computational simulation of interference in terms of the ratio of interference power to thermal noise(I/N) is performed in order to evaluate the co-frequency interference with the IMT system caused by the MSS system. The methodology and results could be used for planning an IMT deployment without an unacceptable interference impact caused by the MSS system.

  • This paper aims to assessing impact of reduction of non-point source pollution in the Bokha Stream watershed. The BASINS/HSPF model was calibrated and verified for water flow and water qualities using Total Maximum Daily Load 8days data from 2006 to 2007. Accuracy of the BASINS/HSPF models in simulating hydrology and water quality was compared and there were somewhat differences of statistical results, but water flow and water quality were simulated in good conditions over the study period. The applicability of models was tested to evaluate non-point source control scenarios to response hydrology and water quality in the Bokha stream using various measures which include BMPs approach and change of landuse. The evaluation of reduction of non-point source pollution was developed using load-duration curve. Despite strong reduction of non-point source, there are not satiated target quality at low flow season.

  • The impacts of EV charging demands on power system such as increased peak demands may be developed by means of modeling a stochastic distribution of charging and a demand dispatch calculation. Optimization processes are proposed to determine optimal demand distribution portions so that charging costs and demands can be managed optimally. There are two optimization methods which have different effects on the outcome. These focus either on the Electric vehicle customer side (cost optimization) or the System Operator side (Load-weighted optimization).
