This work shows that it is possible to obtain information about more than one parameter from acoustic field information. A variety of ultrasonic Lamb wave modes were utilized to reconstruct thickness and density of an isotropic plate. An image reconstruction of one parameter (thickness of a plate) was carried out for four cases, i.e., the lowest symmetrical and anti symmetrical modes, and the fastest symmetrical and anti symmetrical Lamb waves among multiple modes. For two parameter reconstructions (thickness and density), the image processing was performed using the lowest symmetrical and antisymmetrical modes simultaneously. In this work, a modified version of algebraic reconstruction technique (ART), which is a form of finite-series expansion method, was employed to reconstruct the ultrasonically computed tomographic images. Results from several sample geometries are presented.

In this paper, we propose a method to estimate camera motion parameter based on invariant point features. Typically, feature information of image has drawbacks, it is variable to camera viewpoint, and therefore information quantity increases after time. The LM(Levenberg-Marquardt) method using nonlinear minimum square evaluation for camera extrinsic parameter estimation also has a weak point, which has different iteration number for approaching the minimal point according to the initial values and convergence time increases if the process run into a local minimum. In order to complement these shortfalls, we, first propose constructing feature models using invariant vector of geometry. Secondly, we propose a two-stage calculation method to improve accuracy and convergence by using homography and LM method. In the experiment, we compare and analyze the proposed method with existing method to demonstrate the superiority of the proposed algorithms.
This study develops three new models that are practically applicable to three stages of Taguchi's robust design, which includes system design, parameter design and tolerance design. In system design, the Multiple Loss Function Analysis(MLFA) and Overall Loss Index(OLI) which reflect upon weight of characteristics and importance of specification are developed. Moreover parameter design presents Process Capability Index(PCI), $C_{PUK}$ and $C_{PLK}$, in order to segregate Signal-To-Noise Ratio(SNR) into accuracy and precision for an evaluation of relative comparison. In addition, tolerance design presents the new model of allowance computation for assembled product which is primarily derived from safety margin(SM) considering functional limit and specification. The guideline of those three new models, which include systematic charts and applicable illustrations, offers convenience for practitioners in the field. Hence, the practical applications could be made with the steps of robust designs such as system design, parameter design and specification allowance design.

In this study, the regression models (Load ESTimator and eight-parameter model) were evaluated to estimate instantaneous pollutant loads under various criteria and optimization methods. As shown in the results, LOADEST commonly used in interpolating pollutant loads could not necessarily provide the best results with the automatic selected regression model. It is inferred that the various regression models in LOADEST need to be considered to find the best solution based on the characteristics of watersheds applied. The recently developed eight-parameter model integrated with Genetic Algorithm (GA) and Gradient Descent Method (GDM) were also compared with LOADEST indicating that the eight-parameter model performed better than LOADEST, but it showed different behaviors in calibration and validation. The eight-parameter model with GDM could reproduce the nitrogen loads properly outside of calibration period (validation). Furthermore, the accuracy and precision of model estimations were evaluated using various criteria (e.g., $R^2$ and gradient and constant of linear regression line). The results showed higher precisions with the $R^2$ values closed to 1.0 in LOADEST and better accuracy with the constants (in linear regression line) closed to 0.0 in the eight-parameter model with GDM. In hence, based on these finding we recommend that users need to evaluate the regression models under various criteria and calibration methods to provide the more accurate and precise results for pollutant load estimations.
Object-based image analysis (OBIA) allows higher computation efficiency and usability of information inherent in the image, as it reduces the complexity of the image while maintaining the image properties. Superpixel methods oversegment the image with a smaller image unit than an ordinary object segment and well preserve the edges of the image. SLIC (Simple linear iterative clustering) is known for outperforming the previous superpixel methods with high image segmentation quality. Although the input parameter for SLIC, number of superpixels has considerable influence on image segmentation results, impact analysis for SLIC parameter has not been investigated enough. In this study, we performed optimal parameter analysis and evaluation of change detection for SLIC-based superpixel techniques using KOMPSAT data. Forsuperpixel generation, three superpixel methods (SLIC; SLIC0, zero parameter version of SLIC; SNIC, simple non-iterative clustering) were used with superpixel sizes in ranges of $5{\times}5$ (pixels) to $50{\times}50$ (pixels). Then, the image segmentation results were analyzed for how well they preserve the edges of the change detection reference data. Based on the optimal parameter analysis, image segmentation boundaries were obtained from difference image of the bi-temporal images. Then, DBSCAN (Density-based spatial clustering of applications with noise) was applied to cluster the superpixels to a certain size of objects for change detection. The changes of features were detected for each superpixel and compared with reference data for evaluation. From the change detection results, it proved that better change detection can be achieved even with bigger superpixel size if the superpixels were generated with high regularity of size and shape.

High speed engines with high power are increasingly on demands and almost engines employ crankshafts Such problems as bending and torsional vibrations become the point at issue in crankshaft analysis and design. In this study to overcome the diffiiculty with the large amount of computation in finite element vibration analysis of a crankshaft, a reduction method based on influence coefficient and lumped parameter is presented. which reduces the computation amount effectively and can be used in vibrational analysis and design of any types of crankshafts Crank journal and pinparts are meodelled as elements with 6degrees of freedom per node. Crank web part is modelled using equivalent mass and stiffness matices . based up on lumped parameter and influence coefficient respectively to reduce total degrees of freedom considerablely. To confirm the scheme of the study the results are compared with the known data and they are coincident. Also a simple crankshaft is designed and manufactured for experiments. The calculated results using reduction method and the experimental results agree well The scheme of this study can be utilized in evaluation results agree well. Safety-related motor operated valve(MOV) safety significance for Ulchin Unit 3 was categorized. The safety evaluation of MOV of domestic nuclear power plants affects the generic data used for the quantification of MOV common cause failure(CCF) events in Ulchin Units 3&4 PSA. Therefore, in this paper, MGL(multiple greek letter)parameter ${\beta}$, used for the evaluation of MOV CCF probabilities in Ulchin Units 3&4 probabilistic safety assessment(PSA), was re-estimated and the MOV safety significance was categorized. The re-estimation results of MGL parameter show that the value of(is decreased by 30% compared with the current value used in Ulchin Unit 3&4 PSA. The categorization results of MOV safety significance using the changed value of MGL parameter(show that the number of HSSCs(high safety significant components) is decreased by 54.5% compared with those using the current value of it used in Ulchin Units 3&4 PSA.
The objective of this paper is to develop a nondestructive method for estimating the fracture toughness (K$\_$IC/) of CrMoV steels used as the rotor material of steam turbines in power plants. To achieve this objective, a number of CrMoV steel samples were heat-treated, and the fracture appearance transition temperature (FATT) was determined as a function of aging time. Nonlinear ultrasonics was employed as the theoretical basis to explain the harmonic generation in a damaged material, and the nonlinearity parameter of the second harmonic wave was the experimental measure used to be correlated to the fracture toughness of the rotor steel. The nondestructive procedure for estimating the 7c consists of two steps. First, the correlations between the nonlinearity parameter and the FATT are sought. The FATT values are then used to estimate K$\_$IC/, using the K$\_$IC/ versus excess temperature (i.e., T-FATT) correlation that is available in the literature for CrMoV rotor steel.

As the lifespan of concrete structures increases, their load carrying capacity decreases owing to cyclic loads and long-term effects such as creep and shrinkage. For these reasons, there is a necessity for stress state monitoring of concrete members. Particularly, it is necessary to evaluate the concrete structures for behavioral changes by using a technique that can overcome the measuring limitations of usual ultrasonic nondestructive evaluation methods. This paper proposes the use of a nonlinear ultrasonic method, namely, nonlinear resonant ultrasonic spectroscopy (NRUS) for the measurement of nonlinearity parameters for stress monitoring. An experiment compared the use of NRUS method and a linear ultrasonic method, namely, ultrasonic pulse velocity (UPV) to study the effects of continuously increasing loads and cyclic loads on the nonlinearity parameter. Both NRUS and UPV methods found a similar direct relationship between load level and that parameter. The NRUS method showed a higher sensitivity to micro-structural changes of concrete than UPV method. Thus, the experiment confirms the possibility of using the nonlinear ultrasonic method for stress state monitoring of concrete members.
