  • A rice mill pilot plant was designed and developed in the basis of the simulation results on the mill plants. The performance of the developed rice mill plant was evaluated, and the simulation model on the mill system was validated with the experimental data in the mill plant. The results of this study were as followings : 1. A rice mill pilot plant with the capacity of 0.5 t/h was designed and developed. 2. The hulled ratio of the mill plant was 87.3%, and the milled rice recovery and the head rice recovery of the cleaned rice were 74% and 87% , respectively. The degree of milling of the cleaned rice was 10.6% with a high polish. The intensity of the cleaned rice appeared high compared with that of the milled rice in the analysis of whiteness test using an image processing system. 3. The bottleneck, processing time, and production amount of the developed mill system almost coincided with those of the simulation of the rice mill plant. The developed simulation model of the rice mill plant was proven to be applicable to the design of a rice mill plant through experiments.

Finite element analysis of helmeted oblique impacts and head injury evaluation with a commercial road helmet

  • In this work, the safety performance of a commercial motorcycle helmet already placed on the market is assessed. The assessed motorcycle helmet is currently homologated by several relevant motorcycle standards. Impacts including translational and rotational motions are accurately simulated through a finite element numerical framework. The developed model was validated against experimental results: firstly, a validation concerning the constitutive model for the expanded polystyrene, the material responsible for energy absorption during impact; secondly, a validation regarding the acceleration measured at the headform's centre of gravity during the linear impacts defined in the ECE R22.05 standard. Both were successfully validated. After model validation, an oblique impact was simulated and the results were compared against head injury thresholds in order to predict the resultant head injuries. From this comparison, it was concluded that brain injuries such as concussion and diffuse axonal injury may occur even with a helmet certified by the majority of the motorcycle helmet standards. Unfortunately, these standards currently do not contemplate rotational components of acceleration. Conclusion points out to a strong recommendation on the necessity of including rotational motion in forthcoming motorcycle helmet standards and improving the current test procedures and head injury criteria used by the standards, to improve the safety between the motorcyclists.

터보펌프 실매질 시험설비 구축 및 인증시험 (Construction and Validation Test of Turbopump Real-propellant Test Facility)

  • 한국형발사체를 위한 액체로켓엔진은 터보펌프 추진제 공급방식의 시스템으로 이루어진다. 이 터보 펌프의 실추진제를 사용하는 실험적 성능검증을 위해 액체산소와 케로신을 토대로 한 터보펌프 실매질 시험설비가 구축되어 왔다. 산화제/케로신 공급 시스템과 알코올버너 시스템과 같은 주요 서브시스템에 대한 검증시험이 이루어 졌고, 터보펌프 개발모델을 이용한 인증시험을 통해 전체 시험설비에 대한 성능검증이 이루어 졌다. 설계점 및 탈설계점을 포함한 터보펌프의 모든 운용조건과 운용시간에 대한 실매질 성능검증시험을 본 시험설비를 이용하여 수행할 수 있는 것으로 확인되었다.

  • 본 연구에서는 일시적으로 관절염 증상 완화에 효과가 있는 건강기능식품인 Rosa Canina L.의 지표성분인 hyperoside를 분석하였다. 국내 외 분석법과 저널들을 참고하여 hyperoside의 HPLC 분석법을 확립하였다. Hyperoside의 HPLC 분석법은 이동상과 컬럼에 대한 실험을 통하여 Capcell Pak $C_{18}$ MG II 컬럼으로 353 nm으로 설정하였다. 시험 분석법 검증은 hyperoside에 대한 직선성, 정확성, 정량한계(LOQ) 및 정밀성을 수행하였다. Hyperoside은 $2{\sim}60{\mu}g/mL$ 농도에서 우수한 직선성($R^2=0.999$)을 나타내었다. 정확성의 회수율은 98~99%로 관찰되었으며, LOQ는 $0.393{\mu}g/mL$으로 나타났고, 재현성에 대한 정밀성은 상대표준편차가 0.6~2.6%로 관찰되었다.

  • 신용평가 연구에서 부도와 정상의 분포함수들의 동일성을 검정하는 비모수적 방법으로 Kolmogorov-Smirnov 검정법 이외에 Clamor-Yon Mises, Anderson-Darling, Watson 검정방법을 소개한다. 부도와 정상의 분포함수들의 선형결합된 부도율의 분포함수에 관한 전체적인 정보는 파악되어 잘 알고 있다. 모집단의 분포함수를 알고 있다는 가정 하에 Clamor-Von Mises, Anderson-Darling, Watson 검정통계량의 수정통계량을 제안한다. 신용평가자료와 유사한 성격을 갖는 다양한 부도율의 확률분포로부터 스코어를 생성하여 본 연구에서 제안한 수정통계량을 비교 토론한다.

유아교사의 통일교육역량에 대한 평가척도 개발 및 타당화 연구 (Development and Validation of a Scale for the Measurement of Early Childhood Teacher's Competence in Unification Education)

  • The purpose of this study was to develop and test the validity of an assessment scale for determining the competency of early childhood teachers practicing unification education. For this purpose, an evaluation scale was constructed and then tested for reliability and validity. Participants for this study included 266 early childhood teachers in the unification education field. In order to the measure reliability and validity of this scale, Exploratory Factor Analysis and Confirmatory Factor Analysis were conducted with SPSS 18.0 and AMOS. The result of this study identified four principal factors: 1) Instruction skills, 2) Evaluation, 3) Attitude, and 4) Knowledge. The results of this study supported the scale's reliability and legitimacy as a valid instrument for the evaluation of early childhood teacher's competence in unification education.

Prediction of concrete compressive strength using non-destructive test results

  • Concrete which is a composite material is one of the most important construction materials. Compressive strength is a commonly used parameter for the assessment of concrete quality. Accurate prediction of concrete compressive strength is an important issue. In this study, we utilized an experimental procedure for the assessment of concrete quality. Firstly, the concrete mix was prepared according to C 20 type concrete, and slump of fresh concrete was about 20 cm. After the placement of fresh concrete to formworks, compaction was achieved using a vibrating screed. After 28 day period, a total of 100 core samples having 75 mm diameter were extracted. On the core samples pulse velocity determination tests and compressive strength tests were performed. Besides, Windsor probe penetration tests and Schmidt hammer tests were also performed. After setting up the data set, twelve artificial intelligence (AI) models compared for predicting the concrete compressive strength. These models can be divided into three categories (i) Functions (i.e., Linear Regression, Simple Linear Regression, Multilayer Perceptron, Support Vector Regression), (ii) Lazy-Learning Algorithms (i.e., IBk Linear NN Search, KStar, Locally Weighted Learning) (iii) Tree-Based Learning Algorithms (i.e., Decision Stump, Model Trees Regression, Random Forest, Random Tree, Reduced Error Pruning Tree). Four evaluation processes, four validation implements (i.e., 10-fold cross validation, 5-fold cross validation, 10% split sample validation & 20% split sample validation) are used to examine the performance of predictive models. This study shows that machine learning regression techniques are promising tools for predicting compressive strength of concrete.

  • 신용평가모형 개발과 적합성 검정 연구에서 부도율분포로부터 부도기업과 정상기업의 판별력을 검정하는 방법으로 비모수적인 방법인 Kolmogorov-Smirnov(K-S) 검정방법을 많이 사용한다. 모집단에 대한 누적분포함수를 알고있으며 이 분포함수가 두 개의 분포함수로 분할되었다는 가정하에서 두 분포함수 동일성을 검정하는 신용평가 연구에서 스코어 또는 부도율이 다양한 확률분포를 따른다고 가정하고 기존의 K-S 통계량과 수정된 K-S 통계량을 비교 토론한다.

Evaluation of electronic stability controllers using hardware-in-the-loop vehicle simulator

  • Hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) simulation is a very powerful tool to design, test and verify automotive control systems. However, well-validated and high degree of freedom vehicle models have to be utilized in these simulations in order to obtain realistic results. In this paper, a vehicle dynamics model developed in the Carsim Real Time program environment and its validation has been performed using experimental results. The developed Carsim real time model has been employed in the Tofas R&D hardware-in-the-loop simulator. Experimental and hardware-in-the-loop simulation results have been compared for the standard FMVSS No. 126 test and the results have been found to be in good agreement with each other. Two electronic stability control (ESC) algorithms, named the Basic ESC and the Integrated ESC, taken from the earlier work of the authors have been tested and evaluated in the hardware-in-the-loop simulator. Different evaluation methods have been formulated and used to compare these ESC algorithms. As a result, the Integrated ESC system has been shown superior performance as compared to the Basic ESC algorithm.
