  • In heterogeneous networks, the almost blank subframes (ABS) for inter-cell interference coordination (ICIC), which can be protected from the CCI due to unutilized subframes (i.e., ABS) is proposed. However, the analytical model for ABS-based systems has not been fully studied yet. In this paper, we derive a new analytical model to evaluate the performance of ABS-based systems. In an analytic model, we assume that each carrier in multicarrier systems, such as in OFDMA, is subject to large-scale fading, which is independent of other carriers. As a performance measure, we present the cumulative distribution function (CDF) for the effective SINR. We show the accuracy of the analytical model via simulation results.

  • Objective: In general, macular degeneration, cataracts and glaucoma generally cause visual injury in clinical settings. This study aimed to examine the effects of low visual acuity simulations on hand manual dexterity function and brainwaves in healthy young adults. Design: Cross-sectional study design Methods: This study was an observational, cross-sectional study. Seventy healthy young adults participated in this study. To evaluate the effects of low visual acuity simulations on hand function and brain waves, this study involved four different visual conditions including (1) normal vision, (2) simulated cataracts, (3) simulated glaucoma, and (4) simulated macular degeneration. The hand function was measured to use the Minnesota manual dexterity test (MMDT), and the brainwaves was also measured to use the electroencephalography. Results: In hand function, placing and turning performance on the MMDT in the normal visual condition was significantly different than that in the cataract and macular degeneration conditions (p<0.05), and the placing performance was significantly differred in the normal condition than that in the simulated glaucoma. However, turning was not significantly different in the normal condition than that in the simulated glaucoma. The alpha, beta, and gamma waves did not significantly differ among the four visual conditions (p>0.05). Conclusions: The results suggest that limited visual information negatively affects the ability to perform tasks requiring arm-hand dexterity and eye-hand coordination. However, the effectiveness of low visual acuity on the brainwaves should be further studied for rehabilitative evidence of visual impairment.

  • Mobile multi-robot teams are useful in many critical applications such as search and rescue. Explicit communication among robots in such mobile multi-robot teams is useful for the coordination of such teams as well as exchanging data. Since many applications for mobile robots involve scenarios in which communication infrastructure may be damaged or unavailable, mobile robot teams frequently need to communicate with each other via ad hoc networking. In such scenarios, low-overhead and energy-efficient routing protocols for delivering messages among robots are a key requirement. Two important primitives for communication are essential for enabling a wide variety of mobile robot applications. First, unicast communication (between two robots) needs to be provided to enable coordination and data exchange. Second, in many applications, group communication is required for flexible control, organization, and management of the mobile robots. Multicast provides a bandwidth-efficient communication method between a source and a group of robots. In this paper, we first propose and evaluate two unicast routing protocols tailored for use in ad hoc networks formed by mobile multi-robot teams: Mobile robot distance vector (MRDV) and mobile robot source routing (MRSR). Both protocols exploit the unique mobility characteristics of mobile robot networks to perform efficient routing. Our simulation study show that both MRDV and MRSR incur lower overhead while operating in mobile robot networks when compared to traditional mobile ad hoc network routing protocols such as DSR and AODV. We then propose and evaluate an efficient multicast protocol mobile robot mesh multicast (MRMM) for deployment in mobile robot networks. MRMM exploits the fact that mobile robots know what velocity they are instructed to move at and for what distance in building a long lifetime sparse mesh for group communication that is more efficient. Our results show that MRMM provides an efficient group communication mechanism that can potentially be used in many mobile robot application scenarios.

  • The aims of this study were to evaluate the joint coordination between hip and knee joints in the transfemoral amputees, and its symmetry between sound and prosthetic limbs. Seven transfemoral amputees ($46.4{\pm}10.7-year-old$, $174.8{\pm}3.5cm$, $78.3{\pm}9.7kg$) and 7 able bodies ($24.0{\pm}4.5-year-old$, $174.5{\pm}5.9cm$, $66.9{\pm}9.4Kg$) participated in this study. They walked at a self-selected walking speed across a 10m level ground. Simultaneously angle and angular velocity in the hip and knee joint were measured by motion analysis system. Then continuos relative phase(CRP), standard deviations of CRP (CRP_SD) and symmetry index(SI) were calculated. In able bodies, there were no differences of the parameters between left and right limb(all p>0.05). However, significant differences between sound and prosthetic limb in most of the parameters, except for CRP for stance phase were shown (all p<0.05). There were differences in all SI between transfemoral amputees and able bodies (p<0.05). In conclusion, joint coordination was altered in transfemoral amputee during level walking and shown in interlimb asymmetry.

  • The current study is dedicated to design a novel coordinated controller to effectively increase power system rotor angle stability. In doing so, the coordinated design of an AVR (automatic voltage regulator), PSS2B, and TCSC (thyristor controlled series capacitor)-based POD (power oscillation damping) controller is proposed. Although the recently employed coordination between a CPSS (conventional power system stabilizer) and a TCSC-based POD controller has been shown to improve power system damping characteristics, neglecting the negative impact of existing high-gain AVR on the damping torque by considering its parameters as given values, may reduce the effectiveness of a CPSS-POD controller. Thus, using a technologically viable stabilizer such as PSS2B rather than the CPSS in a coordinated scheme with an AVR and POD controller can constitute a well-established design with a structure that as a high potential to significantly improve the rotor angle stability. The design procedure is formulated as an optimization problem in which the ITSE (integral of time multiplied squared error) performance index as an objective function is minimized by employing an IPSO (improved particle swarm optimization) algorithm to tune adjustable parameters. The robustness of the coordinated designs is guaranteed by concurrently considering some operating conditions in the optimization process. To evaluate the performance of the proposed controllers, eigenvalue analysis and time domain simulations were performed for different operating points and perturbations simulated on 2A4M (two-area four-machine) power systems in MATLAB/Simulink. The results reveal that surpassing improvement in damping of oscillations is achieved in comparison with the CPSS-TCSC coordination.

  • The purpose of this study is to evaluate the differences of visual image by variations in the location of the waistline and the width of the round belt of the basic pants. The stimuli are 21 samples: 7 variations of the location of the waistline and 3 variations of the width of the belt. The data has been obtained from 35 fashion design majors. The data has analyzed by frequency, factor analysis, anova, scheffe's test and the MCA method. The visual image by the location of waistline and the width of belt are composed of 3 factors : modernity, comfort and attraction factor. In these factors, modernity factor is estimated as the most important factor. The visual image is modern and attractive as the location of waist line goes down. And when the location of waist line is in the position of natural waist belt, belt of 3.2cm width is visually effective. Belt of 4.2cm width is effective except the position of natural waist belt. The interaction effects between the location of the waistline and the width of the belt have significant differences in comfort and attraction factors. As the main effect, significant differences were observed in all of the three factors according to the location of waistline and the width of belt.

  • Objectives : Health cooperative movement is of increasing concern among medical consumers and professionals in Korea. Most health cooperative clinics provide Western Medicine and Korean Medicine(KM) to patients. This study aimed to evaluate the primary care level of health cooperative KM clinics and compare it with local KM clinics in Korea. Methods : Face to face survey was performed at the 3 health cooperative KM clinics and 5 local KM clinics with the Korean Primary Care Assessment Tool (KPCAT). The KPCAT consists of 5 domains (21 items): first contact (5), coordination function (3), comprehensiveness (4), family/community orientation (4), and personalized care (5). Subjects were patients or guardians who had visited KM clinics five times or more during the last 3 months. We compared primary care scores of each domain between health cooperative KM clinics and local KM clinics. Results : Data were collected from 200 respondents (100 patients from health cooperative KM clinics and 100 local KM clinics). Total average scores of the KPCAT for health cooperative clinics and local KM clinics were $81.1{\pm}12.0$ and $75.4{\pm}9.5$, respectively. Among primary care domains, personalized care was the highest ($89.2{\pm}12.0$, $89.6{\pm}8.4$, respectively), and comprehensiveness function was the lowest ($68.5{\pm}22.5$, $54.5{\pm}22.0$, respectively). Significant differences between two groups were noted in comprehensiveness function (68.5 vs. 54.5, P=0.000), family-community orientation (79.5 vs. 73.0, P=0.004), first contact(89.2 vs 84.0, p=0.001) and coordination function(74.0 vs 68.7, p=0.025). Conclusions : Based on the patients assessment, health cooperative KM clinics provide more primary care-oriented services than local KM clinics. This means that health cooperative clinic can be one of alternatives to strengthen the primary health care in Korea. Future researches are recommended to measure patients satisfaction and treatment effectiveness in the health cooperative clinics.

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of color, shirt tone, tie tone, perceiver's gender on impression formation by applying tone on tone coloration of shirt and necktie: coloration of two colors. The experimental materials developed for this study were a set of stimulus and response scales. The stimuli were 32 upper body photographs which were color outputs by CAD system(4D-box program). We unified those colors of shirts and neckties same, then made shirt and necktie tone differently. 27 bi-polar adjectives, each of which was graded into seven in its degree, were used to evaluate the impression. The subjects of this research were 192 male and 192 female college students in Gyeongnam province including Jinju City. The data was analyzed by using SPSS program. Analysis methods were four-way ANOVA. The items of the adjectives were classified into 5 impression dimension. - potency, activity, attractiveness, visibility and tenderness. Color, shirt tone, tie tone, and perceiver gender influenced on 5 impression formation by interaction as well as independently. Blue tie with vivid, light or dull tone had an effect on the formation of potency impression, vivid or light tone of shirt affected activity regardless of color or tie tone. As shirt and tie had different tone, effect on the formation of attractiveness impression, light tone had a negative effect on visibility but positive effect on tenderness. red color were more effective than blue expressed on visibility and tenderness in shirt or tie.

  • Purpose : When the value of X,Y,Z coordination of the isocenter are reallocated from an arbitrary point using DRR (Digitally Reconstructed Radiographs) image in CT Simulation, conventional simulation is normally performed to verify the accuracy of this reallocation of the isocenter through the fluroscopy. The purpose of our experiment is to determine whether repeated test of the verification is necessary or not, and to analyze errors of reallocation with respect to the body region and the beam projection, if necessary, Material and Method : For 200 simulation patient, an arbitrary point is marked on each body and axial scaning is performed using CT, and treatment planing is done by drawing tumor and target volume on each slice. Using the planing data and the reallocated point of the isocenter, DRR image can be obtained and the final isocenter are marked on the patient's skin. In order to verify this reallocation of X,Y.Z coordination from CT simulation, We measure and evaluate the errors of these value on the fluoroscopy monitor and systematize them by classifying according to each body region (Brain, Neck and SCL, Lung, Esophagus, abdomen, Breast and Pelvis) and each beam projection {AP(PA), Supine, Prone and conformal : etc. } Conclusion : Isocenters are shifted by 3-5 mm in the case of Neck & SCL, Breast. at Abdomen, while noticeable differences are not found in other regions. Also, there are not correlations between the errors and the body regions or beam projections. However, our experiment intends to decide whether the procedure of verification is necessary on the vase of time and economy. It is regretful that we could not fully analyze the geometrical errors of DRR image and visual errors from the divergence. In conclusion, according to how much doctor consider tumor margin in drawing tumor and target volume, the meaning of analysis on the reallocation of isocenter should be reinterpreted, (which depends on the experience and capability of doctors)

  • Today's network consists of a large number of routers and servers running a variety of applications. In this paper, we have designed and constructed the general simulation environment of network security model composed of multiple IDSs agent and a firewall agent which coordinate by CNP (Contract Net Protocol). The CNP, the methodology for efficient integration of computer systems on heterogeneous environment such as distributed systems, is essentially a collection of agents, which cooperate to resolve a problem. Command console in the CNP is a manager who controls the execution of agents or a contractee, who performs intrusion detection. In the knowledge-based network security model, each model of simulation environment is hierarchically designed by DEVS (Discrete Event system Specification) formalism. The purpose of this simulation is the application of rete pattern-matching algorithm speeding up the inference cycle phases of the intrusion detection expert system. we evaluate the characteristics and performance of CNP architecture with rete pattern-matching algorithm.
