Geographical Classification of the World Folk Headdress Types (세계 민족 헤드드레스 유형의 지역별 분류)

  • Headdress which adorns the head has been used not only as a type of dress but also as a vehicle to express the human's mentality and a tool to convey ideas. This study first examines the type of headdress observed in the world folk costumes and investigates their geographical distribution and aims to examine how the types of headdress are inter-related to the peoples' natural environments, way of life and cultural background such as religion and aesthetic, ethical standards. Headdress used as important elements of many peoples' folk costumes can be categorized into scarf-type, hat-type and adornment-type. Veil-type, the one of scarf-types, was developed in Southwestern Asia and Arabic Africa influenced by natural and religious factors. This type is more simplified in Turkey and Eastern Europe and only covers head and neck in the former and only head in the latter while also being called 'headkerchief-type'. Hat-type is observed in many different parts of the world. Adornment-type has been used to symbolized one's noble social status and authority in societies dominated by shamanistic cultural background; it was also used in Far East out of the motivation to fulfil one's aesthetic desire. Headdress though it was originally made from the idential purpose of wearing, has developed into the various types affected by each people's natural environments, emotion and ways of life.

A study on the cultural symbolic representation of animal imitation in Korean traditional dance (한국전통춤에서 동물모방의 문화기호학적 표상에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, we tried to represent representative animals in traditional dance and study about cultural symbolic representations that symbolize them, thus meaning Korean worship of animal worship and philosophy of life and discuss the identity of Korean traditional art. This is to ask fundamental questions about Korean culture and art, and to express the cultural philosophical reason for the representation of animal imitation. Therefore, Korean animal imitation dance was able to get a glimpse of Koreans' recognition of artistic value which is reflected in dance beyond simple cultural code. In other words, it was found that not only magic and sexual metaphors but also the adaptive attitude through natural friendly life and the ethical practice in reality were inspired by artistic aesthetics.

Hell Formation and Character of Literary Works of the Late Joseon Dynasty (조선후기 문학작품의 지옥 형상화와 그 성격)

  • This article examines the form of hell and the nature of literary works in the late Joseon period. 'Hoeshimgok(回心曲)' divides a sinner into a man and a woman, and presents a virtue of goodness to a man and an item of evil to a woman. The elements of virtue and malice are both Buddhist ethical norms and Confucian ethical norms. Hell-related novels have common features that emphasize the ethical norms that should be kept in daily life through the causes of hell, though the patterns of punishment and their reasons are slightly different depending on the works. And 'Hoeshimgok(回心曲)' and these works are generally shown by reducing the punishment pixel of hell compared to the cause of hell. This characteristic shows that the literary works of the late Joseon literature related to hell were mainly aimed at providing or educating ethical virtues centered on 'Samgangwol(三綱五倫)' through sanctions of 'Hell' widely known to the general public. The emphasis on Confucian ethics is not limited to works of literature related to hell. In the nineteenth century, when these works were created and circulated, there is a surge in the number of chapters and publications of books for Confucian Indoctrination, Didactic Gasa, and Goodness Books, which emphasize Confucian ethics. Such a strengthening of the Confucian ethical consciousness can be attributed to the crisis of the 19th century Joseon society about the social confusion that threatens the existing system. In particular, the creation and circulation of literary works related to hell in the late Joseon period is related to the dissemination and spread of Catholicism. In the end, the hell shape of the late Joseon literature reflects the crisis of social confusion faced by Joseon society in the nineteenth century. Therefore, it can be said that it has the character of literary response to the prevalent diffusion of Catholicism.

  • It is well known that patients with severe facial injuries accompanied by facial disfiguration are vulnerable to a poor quality of life. With the help of facial transplantation, it has become possible to achieve an optimal anatomical reconstruction. As compared to conventional methods, it can provide more desirable functional, aesthetic, and psychosocial outcomes. Face transplantation surgeons need to consider many problems associated with the criteria for selecting patients, techniques for harvesting the donor tissue, prediction of the expected functional outcomes, limitations in obtaining written informed consent for conducting the procedure, evaluation of the post-transplant immunological response and postoperative immunosuppressant requirements, psychological and social outcomes for the patients, and other concerns about funding and ethical issues.

  • The Purposes of this study were to improve the understanding of how the Korean traditional fairy tales were recognized, by examining the recognition of parent and teacher toward the traditional fairy tales, and to serve as the basis for teacher and parent to guide children appropriately, by developing a desirable teaching activity, using the Korean traditional fairy tales. The subject in this study were 238 parents, and 77 kindergarten teachers in Seoul, Sunchon, Chonan, Ichon and Ulsan city. And the questionnaire was used. The collected data were handled by frequency, percentage and t-test. The findings of this study were as below: These Parents and teachers thought the Korean traditional fairy tales are appropriate because of moral, ethical values, and knowledge. On the older hand, they thought these are inappropriate because of unrealistic things or image.

  • The purpose of this study is to verify the relations between the self-concepts and the sex-role attitudes of husbands. This paper aims to present the basic data to forming desirable sex-role attitudes between husband and wife. The results obstained in this study are as follows; 1) The scores of the self-concepts of husbands were high in moral ethical self, family self, self identity, self behavior and total positive self score. 2) The sex-role attitudes of husbands were seemed to be a slightly traditional. 3) The higher the score of personal self, family self, self identity, self satisfaction, self behavior and total positive self were, the more modernized the sex-role attitudes of husbands were. 4) The correlation between the self-concepts and the sex-role attitudes showed slightly positive.

A Study on the Consumers' Perceptions of Fair Tourism Experiences (공정여행 경험에 대한 소비자인식 연구)

  • Recently, interest in fair tourism and demand for this service has been steadily increasing. This study examined the tourists' perceptions of their fair tourism experiences. Phenomenological method was adopted as a qualitative research approach. Participants were nine adults who were interviewed in depth on their experiences of fair tourism. Data analysis led to the emergence of seven categories (sharing and volunteerism, environment and animal protection, tourism created together, communication and relationship, from consumption to experience, ethicality and fairness, contemplating life) and 21 subcategories. This research was a significant step in providing options to explore the improvement of ethical-tourism and may have implications for the future development of tourism. This study also has various implications for tour operators, consumers, and government. In future all stakeholders should make efforts to establish the tour culture which encourages consumers to consider the ethicality and fairness of their choices as tourists.

  • Dental caries is biofilm induced disease throughout life and is recognized significant oral health problem. This article reviewed new trends in dental caries management by risk assessment, including history, protocol/guideline, and collaborated model. Dental caries prevention and treatment according to caries management by risk assessment (CAMBRA) model is patient-centered, risk-based, evidence-based practice. Team approach is necessary and clinician need to integrate science, practice and product. Dental hygienist take a important role in implementing CAMBRA. CAMBRA model could be incorporated into clinical dental hygiene education based on dental hygiene process of care as standard of dental hygiene practice and education. Dentist and dental hygienist able to provide scientific and ethical care managing dental caries by risk assessment.

  • Hospice movement in Taiwan emerged early in 1983. There was a nurse visiting terminal cancer patients by herself in Taipei city. It was ceased after one year. This stage of hospice movement might be called as "compassionate era". In early 1990, the first in-patient hospice ward was set up in north Taiwan. She demonstrated high touch in the high technology medical atmosphere. There was a great echo in Taiwan society to this action. In the following years, quite a few new hospice settings were founded. Medical professionals were aroused again to talk and think about life and death, dignity of dying and holistic care. This stage of hospice movement might be called as "ethical stage". Around 2000, obstructions were discovered in our development. We do need system and rules. Standard of setting and care, Curriculum of education and training, Accreditation system and specialist system and Nature Death Act are some of the systems we approached. This stage of hospice movement might be called as "Act stage". Among the "Act stage", the Nature Death Act is actually the mile stone in our history.   • Artificial Intelligence (AI) born in 1956 is a general term that implies the use of a computer to make intelligent machines with minimal human intervention. AI is a topic dominating diverse discussions on the future of professional employment, change in the social standard and economic performance. In this paper, I describe fundamental concepts underlying AI and their significance to various fields including aviation and medicine. I highlight issues involved and describe the potential impacts and challenges to the industrial fields. While many benefits are expected in human life with AI integration, problems are needed to be identified and discussed with respect to ethical issues and the future roles of professionals and specialists for their wider application of AI.
