Quantitative Evaluation of Escape Safety Considering Extension of Escape Time by Escape Distance and Escape Barrier (피난거리와 장해에 의한 피난시간 연장의 정량화를 통한 피난안전성의 정량적인 평가수법개발)

  • Escape distance and escape barrier are critical elements for the quantitative evaluation of escape safety. Through theoretical demonstration and modeling in precedent studies, they have been analyzed for their generality and applicability. To make more practical evaluation method, we should quantitatively analyze the influence of each barrier and escape condition on escape safety considering various barriers in escaping routes. In this study, to develop more accurate and applicable escape analysis model, we have focused on three research methods as below: First, we derived quantified function to predict various escape barriers in escaping routes by theoretical analyses of the escape barriers and conditions. Second, we substituted the derived quantified function for an evaluation tool of escape safety suggested by precedent studies. Third, we examined applicability and feasibility of the developed method by modeling with the consideration of the escape conditions and barriers.

  • In this parer, we design the artificial intelligent direction escape light control system to improve/complete the defects of the existing fire fighting system, and sketch an optimum escape guide algorithm for its implementation. It intends to minimize human casualties and injuries by calculating/predicting moving line of the optimum emergency escape, by means of interlocking the sensor and the reception group and analyzing the data of the combustion point and the smoke movement. The optimum escape algorithm is designed by FLOYD algorithm which calculates the shortest distance. It consists of the measuring method which calculates the shortest distance by using hazardous factors for each condition in danger which is judged by the sensor installed in each area.

Effects of Yongohkgo on Growth and Learning Ability in Growth Deficiency Rat With Linsufficient Nutrition Diet (영양소 결핍으로 유도한 성장장애 흰쥐에서 용옥고(龍玉膏)가 성장 및 학습효과에 미치는 영향)

  • Effects of Kyungohkgo Ga Nokyong(Yongohkgo) on growth development and learning ability were investigated growth and intellectual impairment rat with insufficient nutrition diet. We divided male Sprague-Dawley rats into 4 groups. They were Normal group, Growth deficiency rat with insufficient nutrition diet group, Growth deficiency rat with 0.1% Yongohkgo group and 0.2% Yongohkgo group. They were administered for 5 weeks. We measured body weight, and morris water maze test in escape distance, escape time and escape speed, serum growth hormone, insulin-like growth factor and thyroid stimulating hormone, RBC, concentration of Hb and PCV ratio, total WBC and its composition, the values of GOT and GPT activities. The results are as follows that Yongohkgo 0.1%, 0.2% groups were showed significantly different than control groups in body weight and the counts of RBC. In the morris water maze test, in escape distance and escape time, in concentration of Hb and PCV ratio, 0.2% Yongohkgo group were significantly different than control groups. Serum growth hormone, insulin- like growth factor and thyroid stimulating hormone showed a tendency to increase in Yongohkgo groups. The counts of total WBC and its composition, GOT, GPT activities showed no significantly different in all treatment groups. These results suggested that Yongohkgo have an effect of promoting growth and learning ability of rats and might be effect to treat various kinds of growth and learning ability delay in children.

Formation Algorithm with Local Minimum Escape for Unicycle Robots (유니사이클 로봇을 위한 지역최소점 탈출을 갖춘 포메이션 알고리즘)

  • This paper presents formation control based on potential functions for unicycle robots. The unicycle robots move to formation position which is made from a reference point and neighboring robots. In the framework, a local minimum case occurred by combination of potential repulsed from neighboring robots and potential attracted from a formation line is presented, in which the robot escapes from a local minimum using a virtual escape point after recognizing trapped situation. As well, in the paper, potential functions are designed to keep the same distance between neighboring robots on a formation line, i.e. the relative distance between neighboring robots on a formation line is controlled by a potential function parameter. The simulation results show that the proposed approach can effectively construct straight line, V, and polygon formation for multiple robots.

  • This paper presents a distance perception model based around a moving camera, in the context of driving a self-guidance vehicle. Aligned images, by escape points, and acquired by a moving camera, present objects at different positions depending on its relative distance to camera. The objects that are farthest from the observer(the camera) gradually lose their alignment as the distance diminishes. With the current setup, this lack of alignment is noticeable up to a distance of 10 meters. In the paper, the results of real imagery tests are presented and discussed.

Numerical analysis of water flow characteristics after inrushing from the tunnel floor in process of karst tunnel excavation

  • In order to investigate water flow characteristics after inrushing in process of karst tunnel excavation, numerical simulations for five case studies of water inrush from the tunnel floor are carried out by using the FLUENT software on the background of Qiyueshan high risk karst tunnel. Firstly, the velocity-distance curves and pressure-distance curves are drawn by selecting a series of probing lines in a plane. Then, the variation characteristics of velocity and pressure are analyzed and the respective optimized escape routes are made. Finally, water flow characteristics after inrushing from the tunnel floor are discussed and summarized by comparing case studies under the conditions of different water-inrush positions and excavation situations. The results show that: (1) Tunnel constructors should first move to the tunnel side wall and then escape quickly when water inrush happens. (2) Tunnel constructors must not stay at the intersection area of the cross passage and tunnels when escaping. (3) When water inrush from floor happens in the left tunnel, if tunnel constructors meet the cross passage during escaping, they should pass through it rapidly, turn to the right tunnel and run to the entrance. (4) When water inrush from floor happens in the left tunnel, if there is not enough time to escape, tunnel constructors can run to the trolley and other equipment in the vicinity of the right tunnel working face. In addition, some rescuing equipment can be set up at the high location of the cross passage. (5) When water inrush from floor happens in the cross passage, tunnel constructors should move to the tunnel side wall quickly, turn to the tunnel without water inrush and run to the entrance. (6) When water inrush from floor happens in the cross passage, if there is not enough time to escape, tunnel constructors can run to the trolley and other equipment near by the left or the right tunnel working face. The results are of important practical significance and engineering value to ensure the safety of tunnel construction.

Results : 1. Body weight showed a tendency to increase in the Kyungohkgo($Qi{\acute{o}}ng\;y{\grave{u}}\;g{\grave{a}}o$) groups and 0.2% Kyungohkgo($Qi{\acute{o}}ng\;y{\grave{u}}\;g{\grave{a}}o$) group showed significantly different than control groups. 2. Serum growth hormone, insulin-like growth factor and thyroid stimulating hormone showed a tendency to increase in Kyungohkgo($Qi{\acute{o}}ng\;y{\grave{u}}\;g{\grave{a}}o$) groups, however these values showed no significantly different. 3. About the counts of RBC, 0.1% and 0.2% Kyungohkgo($Qi{\acute{o}}ng\;y{\grave{u}}\;g{\grave{a}}o$) groups showed significantly different than control groups. Concentration of Hb was higher than control group in Kyungohkgo($Qi{\acute{o}}ng\;y{\grave{u}}\;g{\grave{a}}o$) groups. And 0.2% Kyungohkgo($Qi{\acute{o}}ng\;y{\grave{u}}\;g{\grave{a}}o$) group showed significantly different than control groups in PCV ratio. 4. The counts of total WBC and its composition showed no significantly different in all treatment groups. 5. The values of plasma glutamic oxaloacetic transaminase(GOT) and glutamic pyruvic transaminase(GPT) activities showed no significantly different in all treatment groups. 6. In the morris water maze test, in escape distance and escape speed, Kyungohkgo($Qi{\acute{o}}ng\;y{\grave{u}}\;g{\grave{a}}o$) groups showed no significantly different than control group. But Kyungohkgo($Qi{\acute{o}}ng\;y{\grave{u}}\;g{\grave{a}}o$) groups showed the increasing tendency. Conclusions : So Kyungohkgo($Qi{\acute{o}}ng\;y{\grave{u}}\;g{\grave{a}}o$) have an effect of promoting growth of rats and might be effect to treat various kinds of growth delay in children.

Modeling the Selectivity of the Cod-end of a Trawl Using Chaotic Fish Behavior and Neural Networks

  • Using empirical data of fish performance and physiological limits as well as physical stimuli and environmental data, a cod-end selectivity model based on a chaotic behavior model using the psycho-hydraulic wheel and neural-network approach was established to predict fish escape or herding responses in trawl and cod-end designs. Fish responses in the cod-end were categorized as escape or herding reactions based on their relative positions and reactions to the net wall. Fish movements were regulated by three factors: escape time, a visual looming effect, and an index of body girth-mesh size. The model was applied to haddock in a North Sea bottom trawl including frequencies of movement components, swimming speed, angular velocity, distance to net wall, and the caught-fish ratio; simulation results were similar to field observations. The ratio of retained fish in the cod-end was limited to 37-95% by optomotor coefficient values of 0.3-1.0 and to 13-67% by looming coefficient values of 0.1-1.0. The selectivity curves generated by this model were sensitive to changes in mesh size, towing speed, mesh type, and mesh shape.

A Study on Improving Survival of Bombina orientalis through Escape Facilities in Artificial Canals (무당개구리의 인공 수로 내 수로 탈출시설을 통한 생존성 향상에 대한 연구)

  • Amphibians are a taxonomic group that ecologically connects terrestrial ecosystems and aquatic ecosystems. They play a very important role in the food chain of the ecosystem. It is known that there are about 5,948 species distributed all over the world, but after the Industrial Revolution, due to industrialization and urbanization, there has been a decrease in species and populations. In particular, it is becoming a factor in exacerbating habitat fragmentation or fragmentation due to artificial canals. In orderto improve the survivalrate of wild animals in artificial canals, escape facilities are installed to reduce it. This study analyzed the slope, height of the escape facility, escape rate, and travel distance in the operating facility for Bombina orientalis, which mainly inhabits near forests. The slope of the escape facility showed a relatively similar escape success rate regardless of height at 50° and 60°, while at 70°, it showed a relatively high escape success rate at only 40cm in height. The success rate of escape from the waterway escape facility in operation was 14.71%, showing a very low utilization rate, and the recognition rate of the artificial canal escape facility was found to be very low as it moved along the side wall of the artificial canal. Therefore, in the case of a waterway escape facility for Bombina orientalis, it is possible to construct it at an angle of 60°, and if the side walls of the artificial canals are built within 60°, Bombina orientalis can move freely in both directions, overcoming the low utilization rate of existing waterway escape facilities. It is expected to minimize the impact of movement and death of artificial canals. In addition, if the spacing between escape facilities is narrowed from the installation standard of 30m and ramps are constructed in both directions upstream and downstream, the escape success rate of amphibians,reptiles, and small mammals otherthan lady frogs is expected to improve.

A Study on the Ship's Performance of T.S. HANBADA(III) - The Evaluation of Maneuvering Performance with Actual Ship Trials - (실습선 한바다호의 운항성능에 관한 연구(III) - 실선시험을 통한 조종성능 평가 -)

  • Various turning tests were carried out according to the rudder angle, turning direction, and the speed etc. with the ship's maneuverability measuring system on the training ship HANBADA. After that they were compared with each other on the turning circle, maneuvering performance index and the distance of new course, and then found out that they were satisfied with the IMO maneuvering standards. And the turning circles of port were smaller than those of starboard with all the rudder angles and maneuvering indexes such as K and T were relatively bigger than other vessels. Also, the distance cf new course was measured to $125{\sim}300m$ in case of the new course on $30^{\circ}{\sim}90^{\circ}$. All of these results will be helpful to escape from collision and to alter course on coastal voyage.
