Error Control Coding and Space-Time MMSE Multiuser Detection in DS-CDMA Systems

  • We consider the use of error control coding in direct sequence-code-division multiple access (OS-COMA) systems that employ multiuser detection (MUO) and space diversity. The relative performance gain between Reed-Solomon (RS) code and convolutional code (CC) is well known in [1] for the single user, additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel. In this case, RS codes outperform CC's at high signal-to-noise ratios. We find that this is not the case for the multiuser interference channel mentioned above. For useful error rates, we find that soft-decision CC's to be uniformly better than RS codes when used with DS-COMA modulation in multiuser space-time channels. In our development, we use the Gaussian approximation on the interference to determine performance error bounds for systems with low number of users. Then, we check their accuracy in error rate estimation via system's simulation. These performance bounds will in turn allow us to consider a large number of users where we can estimate the gain in user-capacity due to channel coding. Lastly, the use of turbo codes is considered where it is shown that they offer a coding gain of 2.5 dB relative to soft-decision CC.

  • OFDM(Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing) 및 SC-CP(Single Carrier with Cyclic Prefix) 방식은 문선 분야에서 각기 각광받고 있으며, 두 방식 모두 주파수 영역에서 효율적인 등화를 수행할 수 있는 장점을 지니고 있다. 무선 채널의 도플러 쉬프트 현상이 수반되는 경우 등화기만으로 온전히 왜곡 보상이 여의치 않을 수 있으며, 이에 따라 위상에러 추적회로와 등화기를 연동시켜 성능 향상을 도모할 수 있다. 본 논문에서는 평균위상에러의 효과를 기술하였고, 결정지향 방식의 평균위상 에러 추적회로와 proportional 등화기를 연동한 성능을 설계하였다. 아울러 시뮬레이션 결과를 통해 시스템의 성능 저하를 최소화하면서 추적회로의 연산 부담을 줄일 수 있음을 제시하였다.

인적오류에 의한 항공정비의 안전과 관리방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Safety and Management Plan of Aviation Maintenance due to Human Error)

  • The proportion of airline accidents caused by human factors is steadily increasing. The aviation industry has made considerable progress in reducing the accident rate; however, since the early 1980s, the accident rate has remained constant. Due to airspace congestion, the safety margins of these existing safety promotion methods are gradually decreasing; thus, new methods to prevent accidents and quasi-accidents must be devised. Causative factors of aviation accidents include increased air traffic due to increased air demand, increased cumulative working hours due to long-distance flights, and complicated flight environments. Accidents often occur when several small errors accumulate in the normal course of operation, rather than after a single error. Accordingly, in this study, the impacts on air navigation due to human error by aviation maintenance personnel and varying international standards (i.e., KOCA vs. F.A.A vs. EASA) analyzed, and the relationship between human decision-making and behavior was investigated. The resulting safety analysis and alternatives were presented to prevent aviation maintenance accidents and cognitive ergonomics errors.

고차 QAM 신호에 대한 결정 지향 오차 신호의 크기 값을 이용한 이중 모드 블라인드 등화 알고리즘의 성능 분석 (Performance Evaluation of a Dual-Mode Blind Equalization Algorithm Using the Size of Decision-Directed Error Signal for High-Order QAM Signals)

  • 본 논문에서는 결정 지향 오차 신호의 크기 값을 이용하여 두개의 블라인드 등화 알고리즘이 자동으로 전환되는 이중 모드 블라인드 등화 알고리즘을 제안한다. 제안한 알고리즘은 등화초기에는 주로 큰 고정 스텝 크기를 가지는 MSAGF-SMMA를 통하여 보다 빠른 수렴 속도를 얻도록 하고, 어느 정도 등화가 이루어진 시점부터는 주로 가변 스텝 크기를 가지는 MSAGF-SMMA가 동작하도록 함으로써 정상상태에서 보다 작은 잔류 오차를 얻도록 하였다. 가변 스텝 크기는 고정 스텝 크기에 결정 지향 오차 신호의 크기 값을 곱하여 구한다. 본 논문에서 제안한 알고리즘에 대한 성능을 분석하였다. 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통하여 제안한 알고리즘이 MMA, SMMA, 그리고 MSAGF-SMMA에 비해 정상상태에서의 잔류 심볼간 간섭과 잔류 오차 등에서 크게 향상된 성능을 가짐을 확인하였다.

채널추정기를 이용한 등화기 결정오류 정정 알고리즘에 관한 연구 (A Study on The Correction of The Channel Equalizer Decision Error Using Channel Estimator)

  • 대역이 제한되거나 채널분산이 존재하는 매체를 통해 메시지를 전송하는 과정은 불가피하게 신호왜곡과 잡음유입을 수반하며 결과적으로 심볼간 간섭과 부가잡음에 의해 전송품질이 열화 되어 수신심볼 오율을 증가시키게 된다. 적응 등화기의 역할은 전송 메시지를 복원하기 위해 등화기 수신단에 입력되는 수신신호로부터 채널왜곡 성분과 잡음을 제거하는 일이다. 이를 위해 일반적으로 선형필터부와 심볼 결정기의 조합으로 구성되는 등화기에 관한 연구가 많이 이루어져 왔고 전방향 오류정정부호화과 결합하여 디지털 정보통신 분야에 필수적인 전송효율 제고에 핵심적인 역할을 하고 있다. 본 논문에서는 등화기 출력인 메시지 심볼에 잔존하는 심볼오류를 추가적으로 정정할 새로운 알고리즘을 제안하였는데 일반적으로 등화기 성능개선 알고리즘들이 등화 초기 수렴속도나 정상상태오차를 개선하는 방향으로 진행되어 오고 있는 반면, 본 논문에서는 등화기 결정심볼과 전송채널 추정값을 이용하여 등화기 입력신호를 재구성하고 실제 입력신호와의 오차신호를 구한 후 이에 대한 통계적 특성을 분석해 직접적으로 오류정정을 수행하는 새로운 알고리즘을 제안하였다.

전문가시스템 실용화를 위한 지식오류분석방법론 연구 (A Development of Knowledge Error Analysis Methodology for practical use of Expert Systems)

  • The accuracy of knowledge is a major concern for expert system developers and users. Machine learning approaches have recently been found to be useful in knowledge acquisition for expert systems. However, the accuracy of concept acquired from machine learning could not be analyzed in most cases. In this paper we develop a comprehensive knowledge error analysis methodology for practical use of expert systems. Decision tree induction is an important type of machine learning method for business expert systems. Here we start to analyze with knowledge acquired from decision tree induction method, and extend the results to develop error analysis methodology for general machine learning methods. We give several examples and illustrations for these results. We also discuss the applicability of these results to multistrategy learning approaches.

  • Aircraft maintenance failure doesn't only threaten flight safety but also causes significant economic losses such as flight delays, flight cancellations, air turn backs and diversion and so on. Therefore, the efforts should be made to detect the contributing factors that cause such maintenance failure and eliminate them. In this study, by analyzing factors contributing to system failure using the Maintenance Error Decision Aid (MEDA) model based on stochastic relations between the contribution factors, system failure and events, we will draw a improvement plan to aircraft maintenance defects.

차량 움직임 정보를 이용한 GPS/DR 차량항법시스템 성능향상 (Performance Improvement of GPS/DR Car Navigation System Using Vehicle Movement Information)

  • This paper describes performance improvement of GPS/DR Integration system using area decision algorithm and vehicle movement information. In GPS signal blockage area, i.e., tunnel and underground parking area, DR sensor errors are accumulated and navigation solution is gradually diverged. We use the car movement information according to moving area to correct the DR sensor error. Also, vehicle movement is decided as stop, straight line, turn and movement changing region through DR sensor data analysis. The car experiment is performed to verify the supposed method. The results show that supposed method provides small position and heading error than previous method.

Accommodation Rule Based on Navigation Accuracy for Double Faults in Redundant Inertial Sensor Systems

  • This paper considers a fault accommodation problem for inertial navigation systems (INS) that have redundant inertial sensors such as gyroscopes and accelerometers. It is wellknown that the more sensors are used, the smaller the navigation error of INS is, which means that the error covariance of the position estimate becomes less. Thus, when it is decided that double faults occur in the inertial sensors due to fault detection and isolation (FDI), it is necessary to decide whether the faulty sensors should be excluded or not. A new accommodation rule for double faults is proposed based on the error covariance of triad-solution of redundant inertial sensors, which is related to the navigation accuracy of INS. The proposed accommodation rule provides decision rules to determine which sensors should be excluded among faulty sensors. Monte Carlo simulation is performed for dodecahedron configuration, in which case the proposed accommodation rule can be drawn in the decision space of the two-dimensional Cartesian coordinate system.

  • Ship optimal design is a multi-objective decision-making process and its optimal solution does not exit in general. It is a problem in which the decision-maker is very interested that an effective solution is how to be found which has good characteristic and is substituted for optimal solution in a sense. In the previous methods of multi-objective decision-making, the weighting coefficients are decided from the point of view of individuals which have a bit sub-jective an unilateral behavior. in order to fairly and objectively decide the weighting coeffi-cients, which are considered to be optimal in all system of multi-objective decision-making and satisfactory solution to the decision-maker, the pater presents a method of applying the Technology of the Biggest Entropy. It is proved that the method described in the paper is very feasible and effective be means of a practical example of ship optimal design.
