전원코드의 접촉 불량에 의해 형성된 파형 및 플러그의 특성 (The Properties of Waveform and Plug Formed by Poor Contact of Power Cord Sets)

  • In this paper, we analyzed ignition characteristics of combustible material and the waveform of power dissipation, voltage and current by poor contact. And the surface structure of plug by poor contact was analyzed. In the results of experiment, the heat generated by poor contact and ignited the combustible material on power cord sets. The insulation material was molten and carbonized by the heat conduction though plug pit and voids were formed inside of insulation material. The waveform of voltage and power dissipation distorted because of a growth of oxidation by poor contact. In particular, in case that load was big load, the waveform of voltage and power dissipation severely distorted as with the passage of time. The surface of plug pin was changed from erosion mark to welding mark according to big load. The results will be applied to the cause analysis of electrical disaster.

EPDM/Silicone 복합 절연체의 표면특성과 전기적 특성 (Surface and Electrical Properties on EPDM/Silicone Composite Insulator)

  • 고분자 복합체 절연재료는 porcelain 이나 glass 같은 세라믹 소재의 재료와 비교하여 옥외사용 시간의 관점에서 더 뛰어난 특정을 발휘한다. 그러나 노화되었을 때, 이들 옥외용 절연재료의 성질은 발수성이나 흡수성등과 같은 절연재료의 표면특성에 의해 변화한다. 이러한 표면특성의 변화는 누설전류에 의한 트래킹 (tracking), 침식 (erosion) 및 섬락현상(flashover) 등의 유전체 파괴에 이르게 한다. 본 연구에서는 고분자 복합체 절연재료로 널리 이용되고 있는 EPDM의 발수특성을 향상시키기 위해 기존에 이용되던 무기물 첨가제인 alumina hydrate(ATH)이외에 발수성이 뛰어난 실리콘 고무를 상용화제를 이용하여 블렌드하고, 각종 유기 첨가제 및 무기물 보강제를 이용하여 EPDM/Silicone 복합체를 제조하였다. EPDM/Silicone 복합체의 인장강도 및 유전강도는 실리콘의 함량이 증가할수록 낮아졌으며, 촉진 노화시험을 실시한 결과 $120^{\circ}C$까지 인장강도 및 신율을 유지하였다. 유전강도의 측정결과 복합체의 접촉각과 표면에너지 측정결과 Silicone 고무의 함량이 증가할수록 접촉각은 증가하고, 표면에너지는 낮아졌다. 경사평판법에의한 내트래킹성 측정결과 실리콘 함량이 증가할수록 내트래킹성은 우수하였으며, 실리콘 함량이 30%인 복합체에서는 트래킹 및 침식이 진행되지 않았다.

Ballistic impact analyses of triangular corrugated plates filled with foam core

  • The usage of sandwich structure is extensively increasing in lightweight protective structures due to its low density and other useful properties. Sandwich panels made of metal sheets with unfilled cellular cores are found to exhibit lower deflections by comparing to an equivalent monolithic plate of same metal and similar mass per unit density. However, the process of localized impact on solid structures involving plastic deformation, high strain rates, temperature effect, material erosion, etc. does not hold effectively as that of monolithic plate. In present work, the applications of the sandwich plate with corrugated core have been extended to develop optimized lightweight armour using foam as medium of its core by explicit finite element analysis (FEA). The mechanisms of hardened steel projectile penetration of aluminum corrugated sandwich panels filled with foams have been numerically investigated by finite element analysis (FEA). A comparative study is done for the triangular corrugated sandwich plate filled with polymeric foam and metallic foam with different densities in order to achieve the optimum penetration resistance to ballistic impact. Corrugated sandwich plates filled with metallic foams are found to be superior when compared to the polymeric one. The optimized results are then compared with that of equivalent solid and unfilled cores structure to observe the effectiveness of foam-filled corrugated sandwich plate which provides an effective resistance to ballistic response. The novel structure can be the alternative to solid aluminum plate in the applications of light weight protection system.

Investigation of bar parameters occurred by cross-shore sediment transport

  • Cross-shore sediment transport is very important factor in the design of coastal structures, and the beach profile is mainly affected by a number of parameters, such as wave height and period, beach slope, and the material properties of the bed. In this study cross-shore sediment movement was investigated using a physical model and various offshore bar geometric parameters were determined by the resultant erosion profile. The experiments on cross- shore sediment transport carried out in a laboratory wave channel for initial base slopes of 1/8, 1/10 and 1/15. Using the regular waves with different deep-water wave steepness generated by a pedal-type wave generator, the geometrical of sediment transport rate and considerable characteristics of beach profiles under storm conditions and bar parameters affecting on-off shore sediment transport are investigated for the beach materials with the medium diameter of $d_{50}$=0.25, 0.32, 0.45, 0.62 and 0.80 mm. Non-dimensional equations were obtained by using linear and non-linear regression methods through the experimental data and were compared with previously developed equations in the literature. The results have shown that the experimental data fitted well to the proposed equations with respect to the previously developed equations.

열수변질 점토맥과 산사태

  • 열수변질대가 폭넓게 분포하고 있는 우리나라에서 자연사면이나 인공사면에서 열수변질대 내에 산출되는 점토맥이 산사태 발생에 중요한 역할을 할 수 있다. 점토맥이 존재하는 지반에 지표수가 침투되면 점토광물의 팽윤성 때문에 국지적으로 간극수압이 급격히 상승할 수 있다. 간극수압의 상승으로 세립의 점토광물이 침식될 수 있다. 침식된 점토광물은 수두가 큰 곳에서 작은 곳으로 유동하면서 동수경사가 작은 부분에서 유속이 느려져 퇴적된다. 점토광물이 퇴적된 곳에서 국지적인 간극수압의 증가로 인한 지하수의 유출이 사면파괴를 일으킬 수 있다. 이에 본고에서는 열수변질 점토맥과 산사태와 관련한 국내외 자료를 소개하고자 한다.

북동태평양지역의 방산충 생층서 및 고해양환경 연구 (Radiolarian Biostratigraphy and Paleoceanographic Study from the Northeast Equatorial Pacific)

  • Radiolarian assemblages from KODOS area were analyzed in order to understand the biostratigraphy and paleoceanography of deep-sea sediment from the Northeast Equatorial Pacific. The sediment core was divided into two or three units on the basis of the chemical and physical properties. In the upper sediment, mixtures of Quaternary and Tertiary radiolarians are found indicating active reworking processes. Dissolution of radiolarians seem to increase with depth. Radiolarians are seldom in Unit III presumably due to dissolution and corrosion. The middle part of unit I appears to correspond to Collosphaera invaginata Zone (0.21 Ma). Unit II belongs to Collosphaera tuberosa Zone. Based on the absence of Stylatractus universus, we estimate its age to be younger than 0.42 Ma. Based on our analyses of radiolarians in Unit I and II, we estimated the age of unit III as Tertiary, particularly from Oligocene to Miocene. There may to be hiatuses of more than 3 My from late Miocene to Pliocene, which probably resulted from erosion and dissolution by the Antarctic Bottom Water Sedimentation rates during Quaternary range from 0.15 to 0.50 mm/ky with significant variabilities among stations. Radiolarians in the study area were mostly warm-water species.

  • The performance of ac plasma display panels (PDP) is influenced strongly by the surface glow discharge characteristics on the MgO thin films. This paper deals with the surface slew discharge characteristics and some physical properties of MgO thin films prepared by reactive RF planar unbalanced magnetron sputtering in connection with ac PDP. The samples prepared with the do bias voltage of -10V showed lower discharge voltage and lower erosion rate by ion bombardment than those samples prepared by conventional magnetron sputtering or E-beam evaporation. The main factor that improves the discharge characteristics by bias voltage is considered to be due to the morphology changes or crystal structure of the MgO thin film by ion bombardment during deposition process.

  • Cracking can lead to unexpected sudden failure of normally ductile metals subjected to a tensile stress, especially at elevated temperature. This article is raised to study the application of a composite material instead of the traditional carbon steel material used in the natural gas transmission pipeline because the cracks occurs in the pipeline initiate at its internal surface which is subjected to internal high fluctuated pressure and unsteady temperature according to actual operation conditions. Functionally graded material (FGM) is proposed to benefit from the ceramics durability and its surface hardness against erosion. FGM properties are graded at the radial direction. Finite element method (FEM) is applied and solved by ABAQUS software including FORTRAN subroutines adapted for this case of study. The stress intensity factor (SIF), temperatures and stresses are discussed to obtain the optimum FGM configuration under the actual conditions of pressure and temperature. Thermoelastic analysis of a plane strain model is adopted to study SIF and material response at various crack depths.

Growth of lead-based functional crystals by the vertical bridgman method

  • Some lead-based crystals show excellent ferroelectric, piezoelectric or scintillation properties and have attracted much attention in recent years. However, the erosion of the high temperature solution on platinum crucible and the evaporation of PbO component are the main problems often encountered during the crystal growth. In this paper, we reported recent progress on the Bridgman growth of lead-based functional crystals, such as novel relaxor ferroelectric crystals (PZNT and PMNT), scintillation crystals $(PbWO_4,\;PbF_2\;and\;PbClF)$ and piezoelectric crystals $(Pb_5Ge_3O_{11}\;and\;Pb_2KNb_5O_{15}),$ in Shanghai Institute of Ceramics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. The vertical Bridgman method has been modified to grow PZNT crystals from high temperature solution and as-grown crystals have been characterized. Large size lead-based scintillators, $PbWO_4\;and\;PbF_2$ crystals, have been mass-produced by the vertical Bridgman method in the multi-crucible fumace. These crystals have been supplied to CERN and other laboratories for high-energy physics experiments. The Bridgman growth of piezoelectric crystals $Pb_5Ge_3O_{11}\;and\;Pb_2KNb_5O_{15}$ are discussed also.

  • 초음속 스크램제트 연소기는 약 2000K 이상의 고온과 빠른 유속을 가지는 연소 환경에 노출되며 현재 inconel 등의 고온 금속 소재를 적용하고 있다. 이러한 금속소재는 1000K 이상의 고온 환경에서 물성 저하 현상이 크게 나타나 장시간 및 재사용이 불가능하다. 이에 본 연구에서는 차세대 고온 내열 소재로 주목 받는 섬유강화 세라믹 복합소재를 스크램제트 연소기에 적용하기 위한 연구를 수행 하였으며, 연소효율 향상을 위해 고온의 연료를 분사할 수 있는 재생냉각형 연소기 제조를 위한 기초 기술을 개발 하였다.
