모형 가스터빈 연소기내 연소불안정성에 대한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on Combustion Instability Mechanism in a Dump Gas Turbine Combustor)

  • The knowledge of flame structure is essential for control of combustion instability phenomena. Some results of an experimental study on mechanism of naturally occurring combustion oscillations with a single dominant frequency are presented. Tests were conducted in a laboratory-scale dump combustor at atmospheric pressure. Sound level meter was used to track the pressure wave inside the combustor. The observed instability was a longitudinal mode with a frequency of $\sim341.8Hz$. Instability map was obtained at the condition of inlet temperature of $360^{\circ}C$, mean velocities of $8.5\sim10.8m/s$ and well premixed mixture. It showed that combustion instability was susceptible to occur in the lean conditions. In this study, unstable flame was observed from stoichiometric to 0.7 in overall equivalence ratio. At selected unstable conditions, phase-resolved OH chemiluminescence images were captured to investigate flame structure with various mean velocities. As mean velocity is increased, the flame grows and global heat release was changed. Due to these effects, combustion instability can be maintained at more lean air-fuel ratio. Also, these results give an insight to the controlling mechanism for an increasing heat release at maximum pressure.

광주지역 고농도 및 황사 시의 미세먼지 화학적 성분 특성 (Characteristics of PM Chemical Component during Haze Episode and Asian Dust at Gwang-ju)

  • The aerosol characteristics between haze episode and Asian dust event were identified in January and March, 2013 in Gwang-ju of Korea to investigate the metal elements, ionic concentrations and carbonaceous particles of $PM_{2.5}$ and $PM_{10}$. In the haze episode, the concentrations were increased 1~3.2 times of ionic species and 1.6~2.7 of metal elements. Especially, the concentration of $NO{_3}{^-}$, $SO{_4}{^2-}$ and $NH{_4}{^+}$ consists of 50 percent in ionic species during haze episode that was higher than Asian dust event. This suggests that secondary aerosols from anthropogenic air pollution were mainly contributed by haze episode. During the Asian dust event, increase of metal concentrations was higher than haze episode because of remarkable increase of Ti, K and Fe originated from soil. The concentrations of carbonaceous particles were increased 2.5 times during haze episode, and 2.4 times of OC and 2.1 times of EC during Asian dust event in $PM_{2.5}$. However, these aerosol mass concentration does not affect the OC/EC ratio. The average equivalence ratios of cations/anions in $PM_{2.5}$ were 0.99 in haze episodes and 0.94 during non-event day. The neutralization factor of $NH_3$ was higher than that of $CaCO_3$. Futhermore, $NH{_4}{^+}$ aerosol was aged due to atmospheric stagnation that might be affected by the haze episode.

WSR에서 매연 생성에 관한 CO 첨가 효과 (Effects of CO Addition on Soot Formation in the Well Stirred Reactor)

  • 본 연구에서는 WSR에서 혼합기의 CO첨가 효과에 따른 매연의 생성특성을 규명하기 위하여 수치해석 연구를 수행하였다. 연료는 에틸렌을 사용하였으며, 산화제는 순수 공기를 이용하였다. 서로 다른 당량비 조건(${\phi}$=2.0, 2.5, 3.0)에서 CO의 농도를 변화시켜가며 매연 생성 특성을 조사하였다. 10 %의 CO 첨가 경우에는 가장 작은 양의 CO를 유입하는데도 불구하고, 배출되는 CO의 몰분율이 다른 당량비 경우에 비해서 최대값을 나타낸다. 이는 초기 매연이 생성되는 지점에서는 매우 적은량의 CO가 매연이나 다른 탄소화합물로 변화함을 의미한다. 매연부피분율은 CO의 첨가량이 증가함에 따라 감소되는데 매연생성에서 중요 화학종인 pyrene과 아세틸렌의 생성이 CO의 첨가에 의해 저하되기 때문이다. 또한 당량비가 2.5인 경우에 가장 많은 매연이 생성됨을 확인 할 수 있는데, 이는 연료과잉조건과 연소온도의 적절한 기여로서 설명되어 질 수 있다. 또한, 표면성장율과 중요 화학종의 농도는 매연생성에 대한 HACA(hydrogen abstraction and carbon addition)기구를 정당화한다.

  • 정상초음파장의 구동 주파수가 메탄-공기 예혼합화염의 전파특성에 미치는 영향을 규명하고자 하는 실험결과를 제시한다. 고속카메라를 이용하여 화염의 전파영상을 획득하였으며, 영상 후처리를 통해 화염선단의 구조와 속도변이를 포함하는 화염의 거시적 거동을 상세히 관찰하였다. 정상초음파가 연소반응을 촉진시켜 화염 전파속도의 증대와 화염선단 구조의 변이를 유발한다는 사실에 더하여, 초음파구동 주파수와 당량비에 대한 화염거동의 종속성을 확인하였다.

  • 본 연구는 연료-공기 혼합정도가 불안정 화염 구조와 NOx 배출 특성에 미치는 영향을 조사하기 위해 대기압, 모형 가스 터빈 연소기에서 실험을 수행하였다. 선회각은 $45^{\circ}$이며, 연료-공기 혼합정도는 당량비 0.53에서 0.79 범위에서 0, 50, 100%로 변화시켰다. 화염구조를 파악하기 위해, 당량비 0.79에서 ICCD를 사용하여 위상 동기화된 OH 자발광 이미지를 취득하였다. NOx 배출은 각 상기 실험조건에서 NOx 분석기를 이용하여 취득하였다. 위상에 대한 $OH^*$ 이미지를 취득함으로써 연료-공기 혼합정도가 화염의 구조에 미치는 영향을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 국소 열방출의 특성을 통해, 연료-공기 혼합정도에 따른 연소불안정이 발생하거나 소멸되는 영역에 대한 정보를 얻을 수 있었으며, 혼합정도에 따른 NOx 농도를 측정함으로써 희박 연소 영역에서는 $\sigma$가 커질수록 NOx 발생이 적음을 확인할 수 있었다. 이런 결과들은 연소불안정 현상의 메카니즘을 이해하는데 중요한 기초자료로 사용될 것으로 기대된다.

급격한 평균유속 변동에 의한 관내 Air/$C_3$$H_8$ 예혼합 화염의 소화특성에 관한 실험적 연구 (An Experimental Study on the Flame Characteristics of the Air/$C_3$$H_8$ Premixed Flame Using Large Axial Mean Velocity Variation)

  • Many previous researches on the premixed flame in a tube have treated the unsteady flame behaviors in which the shape, position and intensity of the flame varied, but more detail and fundamental research has been necessary. The flame stabilization condition in a tube, a unique steady state, and the unsteady behaviors, using the stabilization condition as an initial condition, were carried out in recent years. In this paper, propane-air premixed flame was stabilized in a tube and the flame behavior was observed when the mean velocity variation was imposed into the opposite direction of the initial mean velocity. The velocity variation is larger than the burning velocity and longer than the reaction time scale. During the period of the velocity variation flame is not extinguished. But after the period of the mean velocity variation the flame could be re-stabilized or be extinguished depending on the experimental conditions: equivalence ratio, period of velocity variation and magnitude of velocity variation. The extinction mechanisms were classified into the two cases, one is caused by the flame stretch in the shear layer near the wall, and the other is caused by the vortices and vortexes, which are generted by the acoustic waves.

파일럿 안정화 제트버너의 예혼합 화염이 미연가스 영역 난류특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Premixed Flame on Turbulence Properties in a Pilot Flame Stabilized Jet Burner)

  • Comparisons of measured turbulence properties in the unburned gas region of turbulent premixed flame stabilized by pilot flame, in cases of combusting and non-combusting flow conditions, are presented. Methane-air premixed jet at fuel equivalence ratio of 0.6 and 1.0 and Reynolds number of 7,000 was diagnosed using two-color laser velocimeter to obtain turbulence statistics. Same set of measurements was repeated at 21 locations within the unburned gas region of both combusting and non-combusting conditions. Velocity data were analyzed to evaluate the spatial distribution of turbulence properties including Reynolds stress, probability densities, joint probability densities and auto correlations. Contrary to assumptions of current theoretical models, significant influence of flame was observed in every property that was studied in the present investigation. The effective viscosity increased ten-fold when flame was on from cold flow values. The effect of mixing on joint probability as well as in turbulence intensity was suppressed by the flame. The measurements suggest that common assumptions of premixed flame model may result in sizable error in prediction of flame length and temperature distribution in near-field.

  • An experimental study was performed to investigate the effects of partially premixing, varying the equivalence ratios from $1.36{\sim}{\infty}$, and swirlers with swirl numbers of 0, 0.28, 0.64, and 1.32, on the characteristic of radical ($OH^{\ast}$, $CH^{\ast}$, and $C_2^{\ast}$) and pollutant emission in partially premixed swirling flames. The signal from the electronically excited state of $OH^{\ast}$, $CH^{\ast}$, and $C_2^{\ast}$ was detected through a band pass filter with a photo multiplier tube, and flow fields images were detected through a schlieren system. The results demonstrated that the flame height decreases and jet spreading angle increase with increasing a swirl number. The more momentum ratio and swirl number increase, the more decrease flame height, and the generation of sooting flame is promoted.

가스호환성 판정에 편리한 새로운 화염안정영역의 도시법의 제안 및 유용성 검토 (Proposal and Validation of a New Flame Stability Diagram to Gas Estimate Interchangeability)

  • A flame stability diagram in a partially premixed flame is typically expressed using the axis coordinates of heat input rate and equivalence ratio. These diagrams are inadequate for identifying changes in combustion conditions and flame stability when a reference fuel is substituted with other fuels under identical operating conditions. This study proposes a new type of diagram and validates it experimentally. In this new diagram, the axis coordinates are air flow rate and Wobbe fuel flow rate, defined as the fuel flow rate multiplied by the square root of the relative density. The diagram was validated in trials using various fuels, including $CH_4$, $C_{3}H_{8}$, and LFG-$C_{3}H_{8}$ mixed fuels, in a domestic gas-range and an gas interchangeability test burner. The results of these trials show that the new diagram can provide information useful for assessing gas interchangeability of combustion conditions and flame stability when one fuel is substituted with another under identical operating conditions.

  • To develop a hydrogen fueled engine with external mixture which uses in high reliability, low cost and low pressure, the single cylinder research engine with MCVVT(Mechanical Continuous Variable Valve Timing) system is developed and its basic characteristics analyzed. The MCVVT developed has high reliability and the valve timing change is possible in wide range continuously. Though the mechanical loss due to MCVVT system is increased a little, back-fire suppression research for valve overlap period is no difficulty. It's also confirmed that the hydrogen-fueled engine has lower torque and is possible high lean burn. As fuel-air equivalence ratio is high, as thermal efficiency is remarkable increasing.
