주파수 옵셋을 가진 시변 다중경로 채널의 OFDM을 위한 위상 선형화 보간법을 이용한 시간 영역 등화 기법 (Time Domain Equalization Using Linear Phase Interpolation for OFDM in Time-variant Multipath Channels with Frequency Offset)

  • 다중경로 채널의 시변 특성은 OFDM(orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) 신호의 직교성을 파괴시키며 이는 인접 채널간 간섭(ICI: inter channel interference)을 발생시켜 도플러 주파수에 비례하는 오류를 발생시킨다. 본 논문에서는 채널 시변의 원인을 주파수 옵셋과 도플러효과로 규정하고, 주파수 옵셋을 보정하기 위해 기존의 선형보간법(LI: linear interpolation method)대신 선형위상보간법(LPI: linear phase interpolation)과 도플러효과에 의한 ICI를 제거하기 위해 기존의 주파수영역 둥화기법보다 효과적인 시간영역 등화기법을 제안한다. 제안된 기법이 주파수 옵셋이 있는 시변다중경로 페이딩 환경에서 OFDM 시스템에 적합함을 컴퓨터 모의실험을 통해 확인한다.

  • Fast spin echo imaging utilizes multiple spin echoes to encode multiple k-space lines instead of multiple $T_2-weighted$ images. As results, intensities in k-space data are varying according to T2 decay, which generates Gibb's artifact in the reconstructed image. The echo time for e encoding dc block determines contrast, as is specified by the effective echo time, however, all location of other echoes to different k-space frequency blocks in fast spin echo imaging is not f fully investigated. In this study, symmetric arrangement of multiple echoes in k-space is investigated to reduce Gibb's artifact. Design of filters based on the measurement of multiple e echo intensities is also proposed in two stage manner, i.e., equalization and filtering. From s simulation and experiment, it was observed that Gibb's phenomena were substantially reduced b by the proposed methods.

  • As the importance of low power design is emphasized, power consumption became one of the standards that represent the performance of the system. The purpose of this study is to decide design variable that minimize power consumption for the oxygen concentrator in two bed-one compressor 8 step PSA process that has above 90% purity at 3lpm by using given constants and selected parameters. Setting selected parameters as cycle time and equalization time, optimization for PSA process in the oxygen concentrator is progressed. For this, we need to know the features and basic principals of PSA process and to deduce objective function of performance analysis. Validations for objective function and lots of experiments are needed too. By using the characteristic curve of the compressor and the pressure curve of the process for 1 cycle, objective function was set. After theoretical 2 dimensional optimized paths was obtained. And then, by experiment, theoretical optimized path was verified.

단일 반송파 시스템을 위한 교번 스위칭 공간 주파수 블록 코딩 기법 (Alternate Time-Switched Space Frequency Block Coding Technique for Single-Carrier System)

  • This paper proposes an alternate time-switched space-frequency block coding transmission technique for single-carrier modulation with frequency domain equalization. There are two antennas in the transmitter but it still has only a baseband and RF and a switch that alternates between the antennas at every symbol timing. Alternating transmit symbols result in zeros which make maximal ratio receive combining possible in the receiver. Simulation results show that it has better performance than the traditional algorithm at the expense of one additional antenna.

  • In this paper, we propose improved night visibility enhancement algorithm based on haze removal method. The proposed method uses new haze removal method in place of the conventional methods. Our night visibility enhancement method is very good and faster than traditional methods. This method also uses additionally local histogram equalization for sharpening the enhanced image. Our method can be applied to any application that uses a visible light camera, and it is appropriate to apply a black box, vehicle camera, and cell phone camera, since it is possible that real-time processing.

A Study on Individual Tap-Power Estimation for Improvement of Adaptive Equalizer Performance

  • In this paper we analyze convergence constraints and time constant of IT-LMS algorithm and derive a method of making it's time constant independent of signal power by using input variance estimation. The method for estimating the input variance is to use a single-pole low-pass filter(LPF) with common smoothing parameter value, θ. The estimator is with narrow bandwidth for large θ but with wide bandwidth for small θ. This small θ gives long term average estimation(low frequency) of the fluctuating input variance well as short term variations (high frequency) of the input power. In our simulations of multipath communication channel equalization environments, the method with large θ has shown not as much improved convergence speed as the speed of the original IT-LMS algorithm. The proposed method with small θ=0.01 reach its minimum MSE in 100 samples whereas the IT-LMS converges in 200 samples. This shows the proposed, tap-power normalized IT-LMS algorithm can be applied more effectively to digital wireless communication systems.

  • Experimental study has been conducted to clarify the pneumatic characteristics of brake system for freight train and enhance the performance of diaphragm valve. Empty-load and diaphragm brake systems are mainly used in the freight trains of KNR (Korean National Railroad). The train set is composed of thirty freight cars and diesel locomotive. From the experimental results, new quick release valve shortens release time after brake application. In case of normal brake application, the release time is short by 34% of that of original diaphragm control valve. It will be expected to assure brake-release application and reduce maintenance efforts.

Performance of Iterative Soft Decision Feedback Equalizers for Single-Carrier Transmission

  • In this paper, we consider iterative soft-decision feedback equalizers (sDFE), a.k.a. turbo equalizers for single-carrier transmission. Turbo equalizer takes log-likelihood ratio (LLR) feedback from channel decoder and convert the LLR into symbol estimates and variances to be used for the LLR update at the sDFE. Specifically, we consider both time domain and frequency-domain sDFE and compare their performances. The results shows that frequency-domain sDFE performs better than time-domain one and also that considerable gain can be obtained especially when the channel has deep nulls.

  • In this paper, a decision feedback recurrent neural network equalizer and a modified real time recurrent learning algorithm are proposed, and an adaptive adjusting of the learning step is also brought forward. Then, a complex case is considered. A decision feedback complex recurrent neural network equalizer and a modified complex real time recurrent learning algorithm are proposed. Moreover, weights of decision feedback recurrent neural network equalizer under burst-interference conditions are analyzed, and two anti-burst-interference algorithms to prevent equalizer from out of working are presented, which are applied to both real and complex cases. The performance of the recurrent neural network equalizer is analyzed based on numerical results.

지글러-니콜스 제어파라미터 조정법 (1), (2)의 연관성에 대한 해석적 연구 (An Analytic Study on the Relations between the Ziegler-Nichols Tuning Methods for Controllers)

  • Parameter tuning methods by Ziegler-Nichols for PID controllers are generally classified into Z-N(1) and Z-N(2). The purpose of this paper is to describe what relations exist between the methods of Z-N(1) and Z-N(2), or how Z-N(1) can be originated from Z-N(2) by analyzing one loop control system composing of P or PI controller and time delay process. In this paper, for the first step to seek mutual relations, the simple formulas of Z-N(2) are transformed into those composing of the same parameters as Z-N(1) which is derived from the analysis of frequency characteristics. Then, the approximation of the actual ultimate frequency is proposed as important premise in the translation between Z-N(1) and (2). Such equalization and approximation brings a simple approximated formula which can explain how Z-N(1) is originated from the Z-N(2) in the form of formula.
