GIS technology for geotechnical estimation of ground foundation (지반의 지질공학적 특성분석을 위한 GIS 활용 연구)

  • GIS technique was applied to identify the geotechnical characte¬ristic of subsurface in a study area, and has produced a Geotechnical Esti¬mat ion Index(GEI) map. Groundwater level, soi I depth & weathered zone, and engineering properties of soils & rocks, were incorporated in the map through GIS. EGIS(Environmental Geologic Information System), developed by ARC/INFO GIS system, was used for this work. Environmental geologic database by EGIS was verified to be effective in analysis of engineering geological properties of the subsurface. Quantitative analysis of environmental and geotechnical information enable to develop a scoring system of GEI model, which was developed through evaluation of each goelogical factor with respect to the other factors.

Classification of Wind Sector for Assessment of Wind Resource in South Korea (남한지역 풍력자원 평가를 위한 바람권역 분류)

  • We classified wind sectors according to the wind features in South Korea. In order to get the information of wind speed and wind direction, we used and improved on the atmospheric numerical model. We made use of detailed topographical data such as terrain height data of an interval of 3 seconds and landuse data produced at ministry of environment, Republic of Korea. The result of simulated wind field was improved. We carried out the cluster analysis to classify the wind sectors using the K-means clustering. South Korea was classified as 10 wind sectors which have a clear wind features.

  • At present, the cadastral field, with the conversion into digital cadastral map management system, not the existing cadastral map management system, has gone through a lot of changes, such as the market opening of cadastral surveying and overseas launching of a cadastral field. Such an environmental change has brought on a lot of advantages, such as improvement in accuracy of surveying, efficient management system, and reinforcement of competitive power in cadastral surveying. However, the conversion into the advanced cadastral management system serves to relatively heightening the possibility of outflow of cadastral information and its technology in comparison with in the past. This research, with the aim to cope with indiscriminate outflow of cadastral technology, is aimed at suggesting the plan for the prevention of outflow of cadastral technique and its protection after examining and considering the contents of environmental changes in the currently going cadastral field.

  • At present, environmental control system of greenhouses related with industrial automation in the korea is composed of on/off-type control machine using a timer in facilities requiring intensive labor. This system, however, makes it difficult for us to find out any status of environmental control system in greenhouses when we are situated in a remote area or at midnight. In this paper we improved a system to monitor status for manual and automatic control by means of PC by replacing an existing on/off-type controller with a display panel, It also attempts to implement DB for information on corps and to provide a user with the efficiency of getting information for plants.

  • In order for a mobile robot to move under unknown or uncertain environment, it must have an environmental information. In collecting environmental information, the mobile robot can use various sensors. In case of using ultrasonic sensors to collect an environmental information, it is able to comprise a low-cost environmental recognition system compared with using other sensors such as vision and laser range-finder. This paper proposes a map building algorithm which can collect environmental information using ultrasonic sensors. And also this paper suggests a traveling algorithm using environmental information which leads to the map building algorithm. In order to accomplish the proposed traveling algorithm, this paper additionally discusses a position revision algorithm.

Regional Optimization of Forest Fire Danger Index (FFDI) and its Application to 2022 North Korea Wildfires (산불위험지수 지역최적화를 통한 2022년 북한산불 사례분석)

  • Wildfires in North Korea can have a directly or indirectly affect South Korea if they go south to the Demilitarized Zone. Therefore, this study calculates the regional optimized Forest Fire Danger Index (FFDI) based on Local Data Assessment and Prediction System (LDAPS) weather data to obtain forest fire risk in North Korea, and applied it to the cases in Goseong-gun and Cheorwon-gun, North Korea in April 2022. As a result, the suitability was confirmed as the FFDI at the time of ignition corresponded to the risk class Extreme and Severe sections, respectively. In addition, a qualitative comparison of the risk map and the soil moisture map before and after the wildfire, the correlation was grasped. A new forest fire risk index that combines drought factors such as soil moisture, Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI), and Normalized Difference Water Index (NDWI) will be needed in the future.

  • Wireless Sensor Network(WSN) is considered as a core technology necessary for Ubiquitous computing, with its numerous possible applications in many practical areas, is being researched and studied actively by many around the world. WSN utilizes wireless sensors spatially placed to gather information regarding temperature, light condition, motion and change in speed of the objects within their surrounding environment. This paper implements an environmental information monitoring and indexing system based on spatial indexing technique by constructing a WSN system. This Multi-Query Indexing Technique coupled with wireless sensors provides an output based on the pre-defined built-in data index and new input from the sensors. If environment data is occured, system have to perform a proper action after collecting and analyzing this data. This is the purpose of implementing environment data monitoring system. We constructed environmental application using TinyOS and built tested with MICAz sensor bords. We designed and implemented a monitoring system which detects and multi-indexing process environmental data from distributed sensors.

  • This paper proposes a music recommendation system for a driver in vehicle. The proposed system provides (selects and plays) a music to a driver in vehicle in real-time manner by inferring his preference based on physical, environmental, and personal information. Pulse data as physical information, age and biorhythm as personal information, and time as environmental information are used to infer a driver's and thus recommend a music. Experimental results showed that the proposed system could provide better satisfaction to a driver on the recommended music compared to the conventional approach.

  • Various design schemes for network using wireless sensor nodes have been widely studied on the several application areas ranging from the real world information collection to environmental monitor. Currently, the schemes are focused on the design of sensor network for low power consumption, power-aware routing protocol, micro miniature operating system and sensor network middleware. The indoor localization system that identifies the location of the distributed nodes in a wireless sensor network requires features dealing with mobility, plurality and other environmental constraints of a sensor node. In this paper, we present an efficient location system to cope with mobility of multiple mobile nodes by designing a location handler that processes location information selectively depending on the nodes' density in a specific region. In order to resolve plurality of multiple mobile nodes, a routing method for the location system is also proposed to avoid the occurrence of overlapped location data.
