A Study on the Environmental control methods Expression in Korean Traditional Residence - Focusing on the courtyard-type - (한국전통 주거건축에 나타난 환경조절방식에 관한 연구 - 중정형을 중심으로 -)

  • In this paper, traditional residential architecture in South Korea appear to approach environmental regulation as part of ecological architecture of regional climate controlled environment, according to the characteristics and spatial arrangement, and material to the environment was described as a controlled manner. The scope of this study was not large scale housing construction from traditional chusagotaek, yunjeunggotaek, yangjindang, dokrakdang target was the case. Focusing on examples extracted from Korea first eco-friendly characteristics of traditional residential architecture is an extension of nature to explore space and yard space, and South Korea by way of environmental control that appears in traditional architecture, waterproof, moisture, solar radiation, sunlight, ventilation and air Attributes such as environmental regulation and environmental regulation of space, place and manner of materials were described. Korea's research through more traditional residential architecture of the environmental control and a wide range of environmentally friendly eco-construction was that appeared natural to use energy efficiently, it had been available.   • With the signing of the Paris Agreement, which is the new climate change agreement at the end of 2015, it will have a great impact on Korea environmental policy. The construction industry, which accounts for 42% of Korea's total $CO_2$ emissions, has been implementing various policies to improve the environmental problems. However, it is only applying passively to other projects except eco-friendly building certification. This is because most of the eco-related systems are based on building facilities. Therefore, there is a need for a new eco - friendly design evaluation model that can be widely applied not only to architecture but also to civil engineering facilities. In this study, a new model is developed based on the existing VE model, which adds new factors to evaluate the environmental friendliness, potential environmental pollution concept and environmental risk of facilities. This model is an eco-friendly design evaluation model that enables decision makers to effectively select alternative environmental criteria at the design stage. As a result of the case analysis of the block retaining wall and the alternative retaining wall, the value of the eco - friendly value of the alternative was 1.026 times higher than the original one. If this model is used at the design stage, it is expected to contribute not only to the construction of environmentally friendly facilities but also to the reduction of carbon emissions.

Aging-Friendly Outdoor Exercise Environmental Design Guideline With Universal Design (유니버설디자인을 적용한 고령친화형 운동환경 디자인 가이드라인)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop an aging friendly guideline aging friendly outdoor exercise environment in Universal design aspect. The aim for this guideline is to suggest a creative method to cope with forthcoming aging society and meet the various demands of all park users. Documentary survey and field survey were used to extract notion of universal design and aging friendly design; based from the extracted notions three types of exercise environment were suggested, Small scale, Medium scale and Large scale. The significant of this guideline is as fallow: First, negative aspects of aging friendly design can be eliminated by adopting universal design; therefore the guideline can have social integration aspect. Second, reflected needs of residents can be suggested on the guideline; and it was extracted from documentary survey, PPP UD checklist and field survey. Third, classifying universal design and aging friendly design in one guideline can enhance ability to manage various composition of population. Fourth, by studying young child and old people's likeness and parallel resemblance, design guideline for forthcoming aging society can be suggested. Fifth, from three developed exercise environments, the guideline can be applied into different conditions of location. Sixth, canopy type design model can be very useful for old people.

Environmental Perception, Ethical Consumer Behavior, and Price Sensitivity: Impact on Using Intention of Eco-Friendly Products

  • Purpose - This study aims to identify the effect of corporate eco-friendly marketing, which focuses on corporate social responsibility, on the environment, natural preservation and protection, and environmental concern among consumers. Research design, data, and methodology - A total of 92 valid questionnaires were used for analysis. A structured model was established and a 3-step mediated regression test was employed to see how consumers' perception of ethical consumer behavior and price sensitivity are influential in relation to the impact of consumer's perception of eco-friendliness on the using intention in relation to eco-friendly products. Results - Three factors of eco-friendly perception all have a positive impact on ethical consumer behavior, thus lowering their price sensitivity. In particular, it is found that environmental knowledge and environmental concern are important to promote ethical consumer behavior. Conclusion - It is found that, to increase the using intention of eco-friendly products, an enterprise should practice an eco-friendly marketing strategy, deliver eco-friendly related knowledge, and include contents to allow consumers to take an interest in the environment for effective performance of marketing.

An Analysis of Architectural Plan and Environment-friendly Elements of Skyscraper (초고층 건물의 건축계획 및 친환경요소 분석)

  • [Purpose] Recently, skyscrapers have sharply increased throughout the world, including South Korea. Although a skyscraper has its own merit such as the landmark of a city, it also has various problems like massive energy consumption. This study is aimed to establish the concept of environment-friendly skyscraper and propose a plan to realize skyscraper after analyzing the architectural, facility and environmental friendly elements of skyscrapers. [Method] This study lists up skyscrapers over 40 floors and 200 meters high. Upon 10 constructed buildings, it analyzes their basic plans and the green building technologies applied to them and suggests effective and environment-friendly architectural plan. [Result] This study examined the distinctions of the layout, shape, facade, and floor plan plane of 10 skyscrapers and found out specific techniques to be used for the use plan of natural energy, plan for saving resources and reducing wastes and a plan for environmental architecture and system.

  • Purpose of this study is embody the environmental-friendly military facility model that applied renewable energy, passive design method and high efficiency equipment. In the introduction of this study, defined problem of existing military facility and classification of military facility are performed. Also, environmental friendly military facility is defined through classified by scale and building equipment method. In the renewable energy chapter, photovoltaic system and wind turbine system are considered And then, LED light, photovoltaic panel, motor, inverter are analyzed in the high efficiency equipment chapter.

  • Construction project is necessary element for human life to upgrade the quality and convenience. However, due to its contradictory nature to the environment preservation, environmental pollution and damage, deterioration of natural scenery, noise/vibration, water quality pollution, etc. caused in the process of construction greatly affect the environment. For the building or construction project, its possible impact on environment during construction work and after completion must be predicted at its design phase, which will result in the completion of the architecture convenient for human being with its environmental pollution reduced to minimum level. In this study, the checklist of environmental factors was suggested, which should be taken into account at its design phase in conducting the construction work. Proposed checklist was linked with the developed web-based system for the convenience of users like designer and construction manager, etc. It is expected that the checklist suggested by this study will help the designer and construction manager to continue the steady development from the environmental viewpoint during the design phase.

A New Environmentally Friendly Design Program TLCALC for High Voltage AC Transmission Lines (새로운 초고압 송전선로 친환경설계프로그램 TLCALC)

  • HVAC transmission lines must be designed to satisfy environmental regulations. Therefore it is necessary to pre-evaluate environmental problems for transmission line designer using prediction program. In this study, environmental design software, TLCALC(Transmission Line CALCulation) for transmission lines was developed as a comprehensive window program. It has 6 modules that are audible noise, radio noise, television noise, magnetic field, electric field and conductor surface gradient. TLCALC solved a few problems in use of the existing foreign tools and took several advantages as follows; (1) It is a common tool that solves calculating limitations of foreign formulas, (2) It has wide application ranges and enhances accuracy of prediction. (3) It can be applied to almost transmission line configurations in Korea. (4) Experienced designers can get the results of calculation within about 15 minutes. Because the use of TLCALC is easy and practical, this program will be usefully applied to the environmental friendly design and construction of transmission lines. In the future, it is expected that public complaints and social environmental cost will be reduced by the use of TLCALC.

The Effects of Environment-conscious Consumer Attitudes towards Eco-friendly Product and Artificial Leather Fashion Product Purchase Intentions

  • This research examines the environmental consciousness of fashion consumer attitudes towards eco-friendly products and artificial leather purchase intentions. The survey was conducted from March 11 to March 15 2012 and all respondents had at least once experience of purchasing fashion items made of artificial leather. A total of 426 subjects were used in the dataset; the statistical analysis methods were frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability analysis and multiple analysis. The results are as follows. The study finds that environmental consciousness has three dimensions of public participation, resource conservation, and recycling. Public participation, recycling, and resource conservation influenced eco-friendly product attitudes. Eco-friendly product attitudes influenced artificial leather purchase intentions. The research results show that appropriate plans in fashion business such as usefulness of design and business value will need to be provided to fashion consumers. Detailed information on materials related to fashion products as the content of environment-friendly techniques and recycling methods will help consumers to evaluate environmental-friendly attitude products.

A Study on the Elements of the Environmentally Friendly Design of the Courtyards in Elementary Schools -Focused on the Open Direction and D/H Ratio- (초등학교 중정공간에서의 친환경요소도입에 관한 연구 -중정의 열린 방위와 D/H비를 중심으로-)

  • The objectives of this research are to find the problems in the courtyards of the elementary schools and to provide the new design guidelines on the environmental design applicable to the court yard of the elementary schools. To analyze the current usage condition of the court yards of the elementary schools, sixty-three elementary schools in Seoul were investigated through the architectural drawings, and then nineteen of them were selected for the detailed investigations. The survey findings testified that the orientation of the courtyard's open direction and D/H ratio would be critically important for the architectural design of the courtyard in elementary schools. From these analyses, the following guidelines would be proposed on the courtyards for the improved elementary school design. Firstly, to increase the environmental condition of the courtyard, the orientation of the courtyard's open side would not be north. Secondly, to make the environmentally friendly courtyard, it is necessary to increase the D/H ratio. Sooner or later, the courtyard of the elementary schools would be introduced very largely. Thus, it is important to figure out the elements of the environmental design of the courtyard in elementary schools. The continuous research on the elements of the environmentally friendly design of the courtyard will provide the proper direction for the better design of the elementary schools.
