  • The purpose of this study was to identify whether environmental evidence and experiences respectively could affect brand attitude in Korean restaurant. Also, this study investigated a moderating effect of brand reputation in the causal relationship between environmental evidence and brand attitude and, between experiences and brand attitude. Questionnaires were given to a sample of customers who visited branches of H or B Korean restaurant brand which ranked within 20th in sales volume among Korean restaurant brands. A total of 353 questionnaires were analyzed with hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS/PC+. There were four major empirical research findings. Firstly, among components of environmental evidence, space, aesthetics, cleanliness and pleasance affected brand attitude. Secondly, all components of experiences, act, relate, think and feel affected brand attitude. Thirdly, brand reputation had a moderating role in the causal relationship between aesthetics dimension and brand attitude, but space, cleanliness, convenience and pleasance dimensions did not have a moderating role of brand reputation to the relationship of brand attitude. Fourth, brand reputation had a moderating role in the causal relationship between act and brand attitude, but relate, think and feel didn't have a moderating role of brand reputation to the relationship of brand attitude. Based on these findings, marketers of Korean restaurants were recommended to strengthen environmental evidence and experiences. Also, they are advised to strengthen brand reputation with use of marketing.

  • The purpose of this study is to categorize the types of sidewalk cafes, and to evaluate design factors with types of sidewalk cafes for street revitalization. Consequently, it may suggest efficient and systemic policies for the guidelines of sidewalk cafes. To ensure this end, the types of sidewalk cafes were categorized from the street relationship perspective by site investigation. A literature review and importance analysis were used to select the evaluation criteria, and the data were analyzed by statistic methods such as descriptive analysis and factor analysis. As a result, five main factors of the evaluation criteria were contracted: accessibility, aesthetics, identity, environmental, culturedness. Cumulative factor loading of these five factors was 68.731%, which was quite high. And the evaluation using the Likert scale was performed by 4 experts. Types of sidewalk cafes were categorized into 5 types: protruding, gating, blending stereoscopic, elevation angle, and sign provision from the street relationship perspective. On the evaluation by type, aesthetics and culturedness were the worst evaluated in the protruding type and the gating type, culturedness was the worst in the blending stereoscopic type, accessibility, aesthetics, culturedness were the worst in the elevation angle type, and accessibility, identity, culturedness were the worst in the sign provision type. On the evaluation by the indicators, culturedness was the worst evaluated, and on the evaluation by criteria, 'safety for impaired persons', 'interest of programs', 'openness of entrance' were the worst. It is recommended that a survey of importance-performance analysis focused on users be conducted.

  • Juam lake is a major water reservoir for the industrial and agricultural activities as well as the residental life of Kwangju and Chonnam regions. However, the water quality of the lake is getting worse due to a large quantity inflowing to the lake. The excessive growth of algae by the overfertilization may result in water treatment problems and also the interference with desirable water uses of navigation, aesthetics, recreation, and aquatic ecosystem. Thus the purpose of this study is to investigate the species and their amount of planktons in the lake and the relationship between the P loading amount and the chlorophyll-a used as a primary productivity index. The results of the investigation show that (1) the predominant species of algae are Microcystis aeruginosa, Anabaena affinis, Melosira granulata, Synedra acus, and Coelastrum cambricum, (2) the trophic state of the lake can be classified as eutrophic, and (3) there is close relation between the P loading amount and the chlorophyll-a.

  • Landscape space can and should play as a multi-functional agent : healing contaminated soil, reducing natural hazards, supporting living things, making comfortable environment for human, and appealing to human aesthetics, etc. This article aims to show the possibility and role of landscape space as such agent. In landscape design for National Marine Biology Resource Institute, distributed rain water treatment system and rain gardens are introduced to replace a mono-functioning large detention pond which was suggested by disaster impact assesment. Phytoremediation and vegetation filtering system with muti-cell wetlands are also adapted to heal the contaminated soil. This kind of landscape as a 'living machine' which can play as an operational control utility of multi-environment and thus can be combined effectively into green infrastructure is important for post-industrial city, especially in an era of climate change.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the state-of-the-art daylighting design among LEED(Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) multi-family housing cases and to explore the feasibilities for their applications in domestic housing design. Occupants in multi-family houses are reported to consume more electricity power than those in single houses. That may imply the problems of daylighting design in domestic housing design for multi-family houses have better insulation system and less windows and outside walls than single houses. Therefore two systems, daylight delivery system and daylight control system, are scrutinized for daylighting design with LEED cases. The findings show when windows as a daylight delivery system are combined with overhangs, fins, louvers, fenestration materials, speciality fenestration, or interior controls as a daylight control system, the outcome goes with more energy savings and better facade design. Beside those, lightshelves as a daylight delivery system seem to have potentials in domestic multi-family houses with deep plans and less outside walls. Daylighting designs in domestic multi-family houses need to pursue available options more to achieve the integration of energy and aesthetics values.

  • Ever since the industrial revolution, large cities have become a field of new lifestyle and urbanization, causing climate change and environmental pollution. As a result, countermeasures for revolving these problems is needed. In addition, large cities in the information age have become a space where each nation executes its public policy to express the competitiveness of each city. In this study, countermeasures for the environmental crises caused by urbanization as well as the sustainable spatial designs for the cities are investigated as a new source of urban competitiveness, and the environmental aesthetics for designing public space is considered. The purpose of this study is to suggest a direction for sustainable designs and planning that is applicable to public space. According to the definition of sustainability, the items of the spatial implementation of ecological, economical and social sustainability are categorized. Based on this categorization, the sustainable designs of public space are classified into five types, and a comprehensive analysis of good public spaces from previous literature is conducted. The concepts of design and three elements--public space, sustainability, and their instrumental meanings, are integrated in this study. The significance of this study lies in the actual application of the classification to the planning and design of sustainable public space in cities, rather than being a conceptual classification.

  • Wind energy, as an alternative to fossil fuels, is plentiful, renewable, widely distributed, clean, and produces no greenhouse gas emissions during operation. However, the construction of wind farms is not universally welcomed because of their visual impact, competing land use, comprising human health impacts, building and crop damage, loss of amenities and ecological impact, impact on wildlife, danger to birds, safety hazard, aesthetics and noise. Offshore wind power, in particular, offers a huge potential to generate clean energy. However, the envisaged massive expansion of wind farms in oceans is already causing severe environmental conflicts. Wind farms cause further harm to already threatened oceans. Wind power has negligible fuel costs, but a high capital cost. The expansion of climate-friendly wind energy use both onshore and offshore can only be successful it the legal and organizational conditions undergo some clear improvements.
