Change of Environment-Conscious Logistics Practice according to Business Scales (기업의 규모별 환경친화적 물류 활동의 변화에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the actual condition of environment conscious logistics system which is essential to make material recycling economic society. Environment conscious logistics management which means simple recycling tends to promote material reduction, reuse and recycling. We have made some case studies about advanced environment conscious logistics system. To examine Korean companies,' environment-conscious logistics practices we made a survey form which contains 81 questions and asked companies to respond. Thus we have the analysis from the survey responses. As a result of this study, we propose the way of constructing environment conscious logistics system in Korea.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine the actual condition of environment conscious logistics(ECL) system which is essential to make material recycling economic society. ECL management which meant simply recycle is tend to promote material reduction, reuse and recycling. We have made case studies about advanced ECL system. To examine manufacture companies' ECL system, we made survey form which is consist of 82 questionnaires and 129 companies have participated for this. And we have analyzed the survey responses. As a result, we propose the way of constructing ECL system in Korea.

  • The objective of this article is to develop residential site planning techniques for the energy conservation by focusing on energy conscious site design process, influencing natural factors for energy conservation and suggestion of multi - family housing Prototypes. This article is the second part of the article titled "A Study on an Energy - Effective Site Planning for a Residential Environment"which is published in the previous issue (Vol. 12, No. 2) of this journal. The first part of the article dealt with how to make best use of energy conserving effect of natural forces such as sun, wind and water, and the selection techniques of suitable residential site for achieving energy conservation. The second part proposes the energy conscious design process of residential site development and suggests building forms of single family and multi -family housings. The three multi - family housing prototypes haute been developed which are most energy -effective ; the linear type, the cut -de -sac type and the atrium type. In the process of creating the prototypes, energy conserving design criteria have been also developed. These criteria can be used to develop some other alternative prototypes.

  • The purposes of using cutting fluid during cutting have been cooling, lubricating, chip washing and anti-corroding. However, the present manufacturing industry restricts the use of cutting fluid because cutting fluid contains poisonous substances which are harmful to the human body. Therefore environmentally conscious machining and technology have more important position in machining process because cutting fluids have significant influence on the environment in milling process. In this study, environmentally conscious machining can be obtained by the way of selecting the optimum machinig conditon using the design of experiment. Cutting using oil-mist showed better cutting characteristics than dry, air and fluid cutting with respect to by cutting force, tool wear and surface roughness. Also, the optimum machining condition for cutting using oil-mist could be selected through Taguchi method.

  • Development of Environmentally conscious products in the electrical appliance industry is necessary not only for environmental law and green consumer but also for competitiveness by cost reduction. In this paper the current trends of evaluation tools are described. And practices in the development of environmentally conscious products are explained and improvement cases are presented by ways of design guides. The paper concludes with suggested future tasks which will need to be addressed in order that product designers can utilize the said tools effectively.

  • The objective of ECMS(Environmentally Conscious Manufacturing Systems) is to consider environmental effects through the entire product life cycle from product development stage to design, manufacturing, supplying, using and disposing stage. Recently, environment-oriented recycling, reusing and manufacturing technologies have been researched actively in every engineering fields. In the field of chemical engineering, HHS (Health Hazard Scores) which classifies and analyzes hazardous materials in production processes has been presented. Metal cutting processes also have a lot of harmful factors, and especially hazardous components in cutting fluids have been known to have a bad effect on workers and working area. However, research works such as HHS have been little accomplished in metal cutting processes. In this research, a environmentally conscious machining process is presented by classifying hazardous components in cutting fluids, by using LCA(Life Cycle Assessments) and HHS method, and by evaluating environmental effects from cutting fluids.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of environmentally conscious consumer behavior, and to identify the influencing variables and causal relationship. Data were collected from questionnaires with 275 housewives who were residents of Seoul and Kyunggi-do. The major findings were as follows : (1) The level of environmentally conscious behavior differed significantly according to occupation, income, averaged monthly clothing expenses, residence type and residential area. (2) The consumer's clothing behavior related to the environmental consciousness differed significantly according to age, education, matrimonial status, income, average monthly clothing expenses, residence type and residential area. (3) The use of mass media differed significantly in the consumer's environmental consciousness.
