  • In this study, we are trying to verify humidity control capability of the exhibition environment of cultural property by measuring adsorption and desorption performance, the control ability of harmful substances by the adsorption experiments of harmful gases. In the experiment of adsorption and desorption performance, in the low humidity area, Artsorb desorbed overwhelmingly more than activated carbon whereas activated carbon absorbed more. Adsorption speed was faster slightly in Artsorb absorption speed was similar in both. In the middle humidity area, absorption by artsorb was slightly more and desorption was similar in both so characteristic of Artsorb didn't appear. Also, Adsorption speed was faster in activated carbon but in the process of desorption, the speed of Artsorb was faster. In adsorption experiment of harmful substances, the concentration in the environment with activated carbon was lower than one with Artsorb, but the difference appeared small. And as a result of observation of the difference in concentration due to adsorption of harmful gas by the change in the metal specimen, the most change was shown in lead specimen and the color difference between the lead specimens of the activated carbon and Artsorb appeared greatly.

  • It was confirmed that a white porcelain figurine in underglaze iron was damaged after exhibition. This study analyzes the current state of salt damage on the artifact and identifies the factors contributing to its deterioration by examining the material characteristics of the artifact and exhibition environment. The analysis will thus assist in preparing a conservation scheme for artifacts. The crystallized carbonate on the surface of the white porcelain figurine is a water-soluble alkali salt with high hygroscopicity and high solubility in water. This solubility increases as the temperature increases. The figurine was low-fired at approximately 1000℃. A lead glaze was applied, and thin cracks were formed on the glazed surface, indicating poor surface properties. Our analysis suggested that the showcase used in the exhibition likely created a moist environment resulting from condensation, as it was exposed to high temperature and relative humidity, particularly in comparison to the exhibition room where the temperature was regulated using an air conditioner. In addition, the artifacts in the showcase were exposed to sudden changes in temperature and relative humidity as the air conditioner was repeatedly turned on and off. Therefore, it can be deduced that the soluble salt remaining on the white porcelain figurine moved toward the surface of the relatively weak glaze as a result of the temperature, and the crystallized salt exacerbated surface damage as the moisture evaporated in a dry environment.

  • The aims of this study are to analysis about the contents associated with the ocean environment compared 17 special-subject textbooks to 2 common-subject textbooks, and to make some proposals for construction of contents. The results of it are as follows; 1. Only 17 books among 36 textbooks taught by the fisheries and marine high schools are contained to some contents related with ocean environment. The contents associated with the ocean environment take possession of 90%, 62% each of total pages in the textbooks, 'ocean pollution' and 'ocean environment'. 2. Of compulsory texts, namely, 'general fisheries', 'general ocean' and 'information treatment of fisheries-marine', the former 2 books are composed of 4.5%, 36.2% each relating with ocean environment. But the last one is nothing. 3. Therefore, even a little contents of ocean environment and its conservation, it is necessary to add as the reasonable rate to the characteristics of each book in 36 special-subject textbooks. 4. And also it is shown that the common-subject textbooks,'ocean science', ' earth science I' and 'earth science II', are composed of 35.7%, 10%, 16.7% each. So we'd like to recommend that the contents of ocean pollution and environmental conservation have to add more.

  • Damage to the natural environment is becoming increasingly complex in modern society, expanding to impact not only the environment but also society and the economy. Various systems and policies based on sustainability have been promoted internationally. Legal systems and policies based on evaluation systems such as land environment assessment and urban ecological status maps, have been implemented in Korea. However, most of Korea institutions and policies related to the natural environment have been directed toward the conservation of the natural environment, and restricted to in simple theoretical frameworks with various limitations. Therefore, this study analyzed the definition and value of the natural environment for a fundamental conceptual approach to the valuation of the natural environment. Based on this, we modeled the policy process for a flexible evaluation system suitable for the actual situation of Korea natural environment through a review of the integration of environmental policy proposed in Europe.
