  • This study aimed to quantitatively analyze the trends in environmental research that utilize environmental geospatial information through text mining, one of the big data analysis technologies. The analysis was conducted on a total of 869 papers published in the Republic of Korea, which were collected from the National Digital Science Library (NDSL). On the basis of the classification scheme, the keywords extracted from the papers were recategorized into 10 environmental fields including "general environment", "climate", "air quality", and 20 environmental geospatial information fields including "satellite image", "numerical map", and "disaster". With the recategorized keywords, their frequency levels and time series changes in the collected papers were analyzed, as well as the association rules between keywords. First, the results of frequency analysis showed that "general environment"(40.85%) and "satellite image"(24.87%) had the highest frequency levels among environmental fields and environmental geospatial information fields, respectively. Second, the results of the time series analysis on environmental fields showed that the share of "climate" between 1996 and 2000 was high, but since 2001, that of "general environment" has increased. In terms of environmental geospatial information fields, the demand for "satellite image" was highest throughout the period analyzed, and its utilization share has also gradually increased. Third, a total of 80 correlation rules were generated for environmental fields and environmental geospatial information fields. Among environmental fields, "general environment" generated the highest number of correlation rules (17) with environmental geospatial information fields such as "satellite image" and "digital map".

  • Both geophysical and geospatial data provide important information in the establishment of the optimal telecommunication systems especially in the mobile telecommunication environment. The objective of this study is to utilize geophysical properties and geospatial information in the analysis of the telecommunication environment through point-to-point wave property modeling. Geophysical properties associated with wave propagation parameters of the earth surface were analyzed based on hierarchical land classification using Landsat ETM+ and IKONOS images. Three-dimensional geospatial information was obtained by processing stereo aerial images. The results show that the accurate geospatial information and reliable geosphysical property of the surface improve the prediction of receiving power of the receivers located near corners of the buildings where diffractions occur. The wave property model developed from accurate telecommunication environment could be applied to optimal cell planning and delay time analysis.

  • In the midst of the aging of underground facilities in urban areas and anxiety about road excavation safety accidents, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport began to build Underground Geospatial Infomation Map from 2015 as part of the 「ground subsidence prevention measures」 and efficient use of underground spaces. So, the scope is spreading every year. The current Underground Geospatial Infomation Map information is web-based and is operated in a desktop environment, so it is true that there are some limitations in its use in a field environment such as an excavation construction site. The Underground Geospatial Infomation Map, built and operated in a web-based environment, is a large-scale 3D data. Therefore, in order to service by transmitting data to the field without delay, it is necessary to lighten the Underground Geospatial Infomation Map data. In addition, the current Underground Geospatial Infomation Map is not unified in data formats such as 3DS and COLLADA, and the coordinate system method is also different in relative coordinates and absolute coordinates. In this study, by analyzing domestic and overseas prior research and technical use cases, a mobile Underground Geospatial Infomation Map data format and a lightweight method were presented, and a technology development was conducted to create a mobile underground space integration map in the presented format. In addition, the weight reduction rate was tested by applying 3D data compression technology so that data can be transmitted quickly in the field, and technology was developed that can be used by decompressing 3D data compressed in the field. finally, it aims to supplement the technology experimentally developed in this study and conduct additional research to produce it as software that can be used in the excavation site and use it.

  • For the economic cooperation and exchange between south and north korea, the reference information of natural and environment resources is indispensable. It will require to collect the comprehensive geospatial information of whole country of the north korea for the unification as well as important areas in commercial purposes. The geospatial information of the south and north korea are based on korean peninsula geospatial information infrastructure linking the NSDI. In this study, through the research of the digital map coordinate systems and map grid systems in our and other countries, I suggested the coordinates system and presented the map grid and index system on behalf of the integration of south and north ones as the reference information for korean peninsula geospatial information infrastructure.

  • In Web2.0 environment, with advanced platform technologies, global vendors such as Google, Microsoft and Yahoo provide competitive geospatial services based on global map and satellite image. But the relatively low level of platform technologies has not rapidly increased the land information and geospatial service markets in Korea. For the ubiquitous next generation Internet, as a one of the R&D projects by Korean Land Spatialization Group, the project for platform technologies has being made to provide customized land information and geospatial service. The platform technologies can be categorized for streamming, mashup and geosearch. More specifically, the 2D/3D Hybird streamming engine, mashup engine for u-GIS service and next generation search engine for land information have being developed. In this context, the strategies for efficient development and use of geoweb platform technologies are required. This study surveys the present geospatial products and services using of platform technologies to propose the strategies for efficient development and use of platform technologies. The strategies for efficient development and use of platform technologies can be proposed focusing on target market and each of platform technologies.

  • Context-aware technologies have become the one of core technologies for intelligent urban geospatial services in ubiquitous computing environment. To provide context-aware intelligent services, various technologies including for context-aware modelling, context-aware sensing and context-aware service middleware are required. Among them, especially, ontologies are very useful for modelling, interpreting and reasoning context informations across various domains. In this research, the recent trends of context-awareness technologies and ontologies are reviewed to build a conceptual architecture for intelligent urban geospatial services. Considering it, the strategies of intelligent urban geospatial services are proposed.

  • The purpose of this paper is to review the background and purpose of the special issue on Theory of Environment Geospatial Information and Its Applications in Korean Journal of Remote Sensing. The significance of the paper was also discussed. Environmental information refers to environment related information (literature, statistics, images, etc.) in a comprehensive manner. Such environmental information as a local change or issue of the environment is defined as environmental spatial information by developing in a spatial form. Remote sensing data is very useful as direct or indirect data including environmental spatial information on wide-area and local environment. Various applications will be possible not only in the environmental field through several improvements. For this purpose, first, refining and scientificization of technology to build environmental spatial information could be performed. Second, the application field can be expanded by developing the concept and contents of existing environmental spatial information. The third method is continuous increase of the application of existing environmental spatial information. In this paper, the direction of development was examined that reflects recent changes of environmental spatial information such as conversion of data formats and integration with ICT (Information and Communications Technologies). In particular, the basic technology for the construction of environmental spatial information was reviewed through various papers. Through the studies related to the above, utilization of domestic environmental spatial information would be diversified. Also, the development of environment policy and efficient management of environmental factors could be possible.

  • Open-pit mining method, is safe relatively work as compared with underground mining. And high yield, low production cost, has the advantage that it can provide a lot of production. But deforestation, tailings and slag deposition, mineral debris, dust, water, noise, land subsidence, sediment runoff discharge, I have internalized environmental disaster predisposing factors, such as landslides. Thus, it may be noted, also by typical environmental regulations. We try to deal with the changes in open pit terrain and environment related issues. Then, use the recovery period and the open pit mine and ecology off the gun, environment-friendly development of accurate monitoring methods, systems of this development is required. The use of open platforms and open source GIS tools have been developed during this period, it needs to develop spatial information environment monitoring system open pit mine construction.
