  • Since EA includes huge information of a company, it takes long time and high cost for company's employees to search for what they need. We try to make the foundation to solve this problem by using ontology technology based on semantic web. In this paper, we try to verify efficiency of EA ontology by developing ontology for Business Enterprise Architecture(BEA). The purpose of this paper is to develop BEA ontology to provide new information by reasoner and to discover new relations between matadata by using extracted information and data. The EA ontology we developed will provide the new way of access and use for companies. The experience of ontology development will help EA ontology development in various domains. In the future, the development of other EAs which has more information resources will help to solve problems for interoperability between different EAs.

  • This paper describes case studies on workflow impact analyze with an enterprise ontology (EO). We build the EO with an ontology editor $Prot{\acute{e}}g{\acute{e}}$ and integrate concepts of enterprise architecture and a process model into it to expand the EO. We use the expanded EO and Prolog query rules to analysis workflow dependency relations from the perspectives of routing, data and role. Through this, we analyze impact of changes in workflow process. Moreover, we have found the effectiveness of the EO and $Prot{\acute{e}}g{\acute{e}}$ in modeling business management and, in particular, workflow representation and management.

  • Community enterprise plays an important role for developing local business. Products from local communities apply local specialties such as high-quality materials and inherited wisdom. This work aims to support merchandises from local community enterprises by bringing out their specialties related to local wisdom and intangible cultural aspects. An ontology is applied to demonstrate the innate information regarding the implicit values of the products and is used as a core for a semantic search system. Details of the products are gathered from their respective community using an interview method and are extracted to align with the developed ontological schema. The semantic search system thus is implemented with a recommendation process for online accessibility for providing the organised information. From evaluation, the developed ontology and its instances are rated highly for their consistency, conciseness, and completeness. In usage, accuracy of the query and recommendation results are evaluated at 97.38% searching accuracy and 85.03% for recommending interesting products.

  • Shipbuilding and repairing enterprise has the characteristics of many hazards and accidents. Therefore, the safety management ability of shipbuilding and repairing MIS (management information system) must be effectively guaranteed. The verification on safety management is the necessary measure to ensure and improve the safety management ability of MIS. Safety verification can not only increase the safety of MIS, but also make early warning of potential risks in management to avoid the accidents. Based on the authoritative standards in the field of safety in shipbuilding and repairing enterprise, this paper applied modeling and verification method based on ontology to safety verification of MIS, extracted the concepts and associations from related safety standards to construct axiom set to support safety verification on MIS of shipbuilding and repairing enterprise. Then, this paper developed the corresponding safety ontology modeling and verification tool-SOMVT. By the application and comparison of two examples, this paper effectively verified the safety of MIS to prove the modeling method and the SOMVT can improve the safety of MIS in a much more effective and stable way to traditional manual analysis.

  • This paper describes a case study on an enterprise ontology(30) based analysis and representation of the production operation in shipbuilding. The production operation consists of steel fabrication, assembly, election, launching, sea trial and delivery process. We represent and analyze the steel fabrication process and the piping design business of the assembly process among them. First, we build an ontology on concepts of steel fabrication process and the piping design business of assembly process. And then we merge it with the original EO. We represent each process and analyze current state of production process with the merged EO and $Prot{\acute{e}}g{\acute{e}}$ plug-ins. Moreover, we can analyze dependency relations among the workflow elements. Through the case study, we have found the effectiveness of EO in business management and process management in complex heavy industries.

  • Service identification and composition is one of the key characteristics for a successful Service-Oriented Computing, being receiving a lot of attention from researchers in recent years. In the Service-Oriented Analysis, the identification of business services has to be preceded before application services are identified. Most approaches addressing the derivation of business services are based on heuristic methods and human experts. The manual identification of business services is highly expensive and ambiguous task, and it may result in the service design with bad quality because of errors and misconception. Although a few of approaches of automatic service identification are proposed, most of them are in focus on technical architectures and application services. In this paper, we propose a model on the automatic identification of business services by horizontal and vertical service alignment using Enterprise Architecture as an ontology. We verify the effectiveness of the proposed model of business services identification through a case study based on Department of Defense Enterprise Architecture.

  • As the networks (i.e., intranet and internet) proliferate all over the world, it is inevitable to move some (or all) of the enterprise activities into virtual spaces. Differently from business data, product data have complex semantics and thus are not properly exchanged among different application programs. Even though some neutral formats of product data have been developed by standard organizations, exchanging them among various application programs still needs the comprehensive understanding of the complex semantics. Recently, it is widely recognized that capturing more knowledge is the next step to overcome the current difficulties on sharing product data. In this paper, we utilize the ontology concept in order to facilitate information search far product data in the internet environment. A prototype of search system implemented using the ontology for automobile product data is presented.

  • This study proposes a framework that enables efficient integration and usage of enterprise data using semantic based concept net. Integration of enterprise information that has been increasing geometrically in cloud environment. The concept net is very similar in approaching way to existing ontology. However, it builds correlation between object and concept to help user's information integration retrieval more efficiently. In this study, concept nets are divided into 3 kinds and are applied to the proposed framework independently. The concept net in this study is built in ontology format based on master information concept net, keyword concept net and business process concept net. This concept net enables retrieval and usage of data based on correlation among data according to user's request. Then, through combination of master information concept and keyword concept, it provides frequency trace of keyword and category thus improving convenience and speed of retrieval.

  • In this paper, we propose a new XMDR-based data model to efficiently manage ontology schema structured in OWL format. The proposed model would be better equipped to manage the relationship between concepts, which is a problematic area in the existing MDR model. Moreover, we present an algorithm to manage ontology schema in the database. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm, experiments were conducted to recreate OWL documents for the various expressive types of OWL ontology schema that are stored in the database. These experimental results demonstrated that the proposed model effectively managed the various types of OWL ontology schema.

  • To support complex business environment. the enterprise information system requires prompt and flexible response to altered conditions. The development of collaboration among information systems in accordance with changes in enterprises' business environment brings about the problems of duplication of the existing business services and increase in costs of maintenance. In order to supplement and resolve such problems, researches on ontology are under way. Ontology can support the semantic interoperability of Web service by describing the resources of particular business domains and the relationships among them. This thesis suggests ontology that supports interoperability among services. The constructed ontology is designed into the service area, the meta area, and the instance area, which can support the collaboration efficiently by providing the link between the interactivity among businesses and the data. The register and call of constructed ontology are carried out with the interaction of the three areas, that is, the service area, the instance area and the meta area that supports the common elements. The efficiency of the proposed ontology is evaluated by comparing with an existing Web service ontology.
