Development of a Real-Time Automatic Passenger Counting System using Head Detection Based on Deep Learning

  • A reliable automatic passenger counting (APC) system is a key point in transportation related to the efficient scheduling and management of transport routes. In this study, we introduce a lightweight head detection network using deep learning applicable to an embedded system. Currently, object detection algorithms using deep learning have been found to be successful. However, these algorithms essentially need a graphics processing unit (GPU) to make them performable in real-time. So, we modify a Tiny-YOLOv3 network using certain techniques to speed up the proposed network and to make it more accurate in a non-GPU environment. Finally, we introduce an APC system, which is performable in real-time on embedded systems, using the proposed head detection algorithm. We implement and test the proposed APC system on a Samsung ARTIK 710 board. The experimental results on three public head datasets reflect the detection accuracy and efficiency of the proposed head detection network against Tiny-YOLOv3. Moreover, to test the proposed APC system, we measured the accuracy and recognition speed by repeating 50 instances of entering and 50 instances of exiting. These experimental results showed 99% accuracy and a 0.041-second recognition speed despite the fact that only the CPU was used.

  • Clinical observation was done on 290 cases of patients who were diagnosed as CVA with brain CT, TCD, MRI scan and clinical observation. They were hospitalized in the oriental medical hospital of Kyung-Won University from 1st January to 31st December in 1996. 1. The cases were classified into the following kinds : cerebral infarction, cerebral hemorrhage, and transient ischemic attack. The most case of them was the cerebr진 infarction. 2. There is no significant difference in the frequency of strokes in male and female. And the frequency of strokes was highest in the aged over 50. 3. In cerebral infarction the most frequent lesion was the territory of middle cerebral artery, and in cerebral hemorrhage the most frequent lesion was the basal ganglia. 4. The most ordinary preceding disease was hypertension, and the next was diabetes. 5. The rate of recurrence was high in cerebral infarction. 6. The frequency of strokes seems to have no relation to the season. 7. The cerebral infarction occurred usually in resting and sleeping, and the cerebral hemorrhage in acting. 8. The course of entering hospital, most patients visited this hospital as soon as CVA occurred. And the half of patient visited this hospital within 2 days after CVA attack. 9. In the cases of patients who were unconscious at the admission, the prognosis was worse than that of the alert patients. 10. The common symptoms were motor disability and verbal disturbance. 11. The average duration of hospitalization was 27.4 days, and in case of cerebral hemorrhage the duration was prolonged. 12. The average time to start physical therapy was 13.3rd day after stroke in cerebral infarction and it was 19.9th day after stroke in cerebral hemorrhage. 13. The common complications were urinary tract infection, pneumonia, myocardial infarction and so on. 15. At the time of entering hospital, in most cases the blood pressure was high, but blood pressure was well controlled at the time of discharge. 16. Generally reported, hypercholesterolemia and hypertriglyceridemia are usually found in cerebral infarction. But in this study, they were found more frequently in cerebral hemorrhage than in infarction. 17, In the most cases, western and oriental medical treatments were given simultaneously. 18. In acute or subacute stage, the methods of smoothening the flow of KI(順氣), dispelling phlegm(祛痰), clearing away heat(淸熱) or purgation(瀉下) were frequently used. And in recovering stage, the methods of replenishing KI(補氣), tonifying the blood(補血) or tranquilization(安神) were frequently used.

한의사과학자 양성을 위한 한의학과 대학원 재학생의 교육 및 연구환경 실태조사와 제언 (Survey and Suggestions on the Educational and Research Environment of Graduate Students of Korean Medicine: Focusing on fostering of KMD-scientist)

  • Objectives: The role of physician-scientists who bridge the gap between basic science and clinical medicine is crucial in advancing medical innovation. This study aims to examine the educational and research environment and career satisfaction of graduate students in Korean Medicine among those who are Korean medicine doctor (KMD). Methods: This study analyzed the results of a survey consisting of respondents' composition, job status, graduate education and job satisfaction, economic conditions, career determinants, and obstacles to the career path of KMD-scientists from 65 participants including both full-time and part-time graduate students. Results: The results revealed significant differences between full-time and part-time graduate students in terms of weekly hours spent and job priorities, motivation for entering graduate school, career preferences, and desired career paths. The study highlights the need for tailored support for full-time and part-time graduate students and the importance of economic assistance in fostering KM scientists. Economic difficulties were identified as a major obstacle for full-time graduate students pursuing research careers. Tuition fees were found to be a significant burden for all graduate students. Furthermore, it emphasizes the importance of enhancing the research capabilities of part-time graduate students and improving the quality of education to foster KMD-scientists. Conclusion: This research provides essential insights for Korean Medicine colleges and graduate schools to develop targeted improvement plans and effectively train KMD-scientist.

  • Train operations run trains to well-scheduled time table and the ideal case would be to have the trains running exactly as scheduled. The train delay resulted from the overcrowding takes place frequently in Seoul metro line 2, and doesn't keep the predefined headway. It requires to analyze the train delay caused from the overcrowding. In this paper we modeled, simulated, and analyzed the delay to disclose the effects in the line 2 operation. The modeling consists of trains entering into the line, running on the line and exiting from the line. The simulation carries out with statistical perturbation and analyzes the disturbance.

  • In the curving detection method by using an accelerometer, the ride comfort in the first car is worse than one in the others due to spend the time to calculate the tilting command and drive the tilting mechanism after entering in the curve. In order to enhance the ride comfort in the first car, the preditive curve detection method which predicts the distance from a train to the starting point of curve by using the GPS, Tachometer, Ground balise and position DB for track. In this study, we predicted and evaluated the ride comfort for predictive curve detection method in transient curves according to the shape and dimension of transient curve and the various driving speed. Also, we predicted the improvement of the ride comfort for predictive curve detection method by comparing with the result of the ride comfort for predictive curve detection method and for curve detection method using an accelerometer in the short transient curve.

  • We suggest a novel approach to the tracking of multiple moving objects in image sequence. The tracking of multiple moving objects include some complex problems(crossing (occluding), entering, disappearing, joining, and dividing) for objects identifying. Our method can settle these problems by optimization of a penalty function and movement prediction. It is executable in .eat time processing (more than 30 ㎐) because it is computed by only location data.

Strategies for Deriving Strategic Products to Enter the Dementia Industry on SMEs-Focused on AHP Analysis

  • Many SMEs are interested in entering the dementia industry as the national dementia responsibility system begins in earnest. However, it is ambiguous about which technology and field to enter, and accordingly, it is impossible to make a quick judgment and misses the time to enter the market. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to provide a simple but clear information to many SMEs in this situation, which products and related technologies will be able to help product development and market entry in the dementia prevention and diagnosis technology market more easily. In this regard, I would like to suggest the direction through hierarchical analysis (AHP) through conducting with a group of experts who can make professional judgments about the development of dementia medical technology, including the four-year university senior welfare department, nurses, directors and directors of long-term care institutions, medical device workers and experts' opinions on what sectors SMEs can most effectively apply to product development to enter the dementia market.

선박설계를 위한 계산유체역학의 활용 (The Application of CFD for Ship Design)

  • The issues associated with the application of CFD for ship design are addressed. Doubtlessly at the moment, CFD tools are very useful in evaluating hull forms prior to traditional towing tank tests. However, time-consuming pre-processing is an obstacle in the daily application of CFD tools to improve hull forms. The accuracy of computational modeling without sacrificing the usability of CFD system is also to be assessed. The wave generation is still predicted by using potential panel methods, while velocity profiles entering into propeller plane is solved using turbulent flow solvers. The choice of turbulence model is a key to predict nominal wake distribution within acceptable accuracy. The experimental data for CFD validation are invaluable to improve physical and numerical modeling. Other applications of CFD for ship design than hull form improvement are also given. It is certain that CFD can be a cost-effective tool for the design of new and better ships.

Longitudinal Conduction of Preservative Solution by Larix kaempferi

  • Moisture content of Larix kapempferi was maintained at 28% after air drying. 5% CCFZ solution penetration depth was observed through longitudinal tracheid and axial resin canal. Penetration depth was increased significantly from heartwood to sapwood and the penetration depth was found 1.3 times higher for sapwood measured at 15.0 second of penetration. On the other hand, liquid flow in sapwood and heartwood involved most liquid first entering the resin canals. Overall resin canal conducted 1.4 times more than tracheid. Latewood was found more permeable than in earlywood. At the beginning of penetration, the speed was high and then decreased in the course of time.

  • 고등학교에서 진학지도 교사 및 담임교사들이 기존의 진학지도 업무를 처리하는데 있어 오프라인상에서 시간적, 공간적 제한으로 진학지도가 어려웠으며, 필요한 자료의 누적과 공유가 어려웠다. 본 논문에서는 진학지도를 위한 방법으로 데이터마이닝 기법을 이용한 진학진로지도 시스템을 도입하여 기존 업무의 문제점을 극복하고 보다 체계적이고 객관적인 진학진로지도와 상담업무를 할 수 있도록 하는데 목적을 두고 있다. 또한 학생들이 각각의 능력에 맞는 진로 설정에 필요한 정보를 웹기반 능동적인 검색으로 학생 본인들의 진로와 관련된 정보를 스스로 취득할 수 있는 기회를 확대하여 진로 설정에 도움을 주고자 시스템을 설계 및 구현하였다.
