This paper derives the fire risk of buildings in Seoul through the prediction of property damage and the occurrence of fires. This study differs from prior research in that it utilizes variables that include not only a building's characteristics but also its affiliated administrative area as well as the accessibility of nearby fire-fighting facilities. We use Ensemble Voting techniques to merge different machine learning algorithms to predict property damage and fire occurrence, and to extract feature importance to produce fire risk. Fire risk prediction was made on 300 buildings in Seoul utilizing the established model, and it has been derived that with buildings at Level 1 for fire risks, there were a high number of households occupying the building, and the buildings had many factors that could contribute to increasing the size of the fire, including the lack of nearby fire-fighting facilities as well as the far location of the 119 Safety Center. On the other hand, in the case of Level 5 buildings, the number of buildings and businesses is large, but the 119 Safety Center in charge are located closest to the building, which can properly respond to fire.

In this paper we propose multiclassification method for large data sets by ensembling least squares support vector machines (LS-SVM) with principal components instead of raw input vector. We use the revised one-vs-all method for multiclassification, which is one of voting scheme based on combining several binary classifications. The revised one-vs-all method is performed by using the hat matrix of LS-SVM ensemble, which is obtained by ensembling LS-SVMs trained using each random sample from the whole large training data. The leave-one-out cross validation (CV) function is used for the optimal values of hyper-parameters which affect the performance of multiclass LS-SVM ensemble. We present the generalized cross validation function to reduce computational burden of leave-one-out CV functions. Experimental results from real data sets are then obtained to illustrate the performance of the proposed multiclass LS-SVM ensemble.
An extreme learning machine (ELM) is a recently proposed learning algorithm for a single-layer feed forward neural network. In this paper we studied the ensemble of ELM by using a bagging algorithm for facial expression recognition (FER). Facial expression analysis is widely used in the behavior interpretation of emotions, for cognitive science, and social interactions. This paper presents a method for FER based on the histogram of orientation gradient (HOG) features using an ELM ensemble. First, the HOG features were extracted from the face image by dividing it into a number of small cells. A bagging algorithm was then used to construct many different bags of training data and each of them was trained by using separate ELMs. To recognize the expression of the input face image, HOG features were fed to each trained ELM and the results were combined by using a majority voting scheme. The ELM ensemble using bagging improves the generalized capability of the network significantly. The two available datasets (JAFFE and CK+) of facial expressions were used to evaluate the performance of the proposed classification system. Even the performance of individual ELM was smaller and the ELM ensemble using a bagging algorithm improved the recognition performance significantly.

Metaverse services generate text data, data of ubiquitous computing, in real-time to analyze user emotions. Analysis of user emotions is an important task in metaverse services. This study aims to classify user sentiments using deep learning and pre-trained language models based on the transformer structure. Previous studies collected data from a single platform, whereas the current study incorporated the review data as "Metaverse" keyword from the YouTube and Google Play Store platforms for general utilization. As a result, the Bidirectional Encoder Representations from Transformers (BERT) and Robustly optimized BERT approach (RoBERTa) models using the soft voting mechanism achieved a highest accuracy of 88.57%. In addition, the area under the curve (AUC) score of the ensemble model comprising RoBERTa, BERT, and A Lite BERT (ALBERT) was 0.9458. The results demonstrate that the ensemble combined with the RoBERTa model exhibits good performance. Therefore, the RoBERTa model can be applied on platforms that provide metaverse services. The findings contribute to the advancement of natural language processing techniques in metaverse services, which are increasingly important in digital platforms and virtual environments. Overall, this study provides empirical evidence that sentiment analysis using deep learning and pre-trained language models is a promising approach to improving user experiences in metaverse services.
Many heuristic attribute reduction algorithms have been proposed to find a single reduct that functions as the entire set of original attributes without loss of classification capability; however, the proposed reducts are not always perfect for these multiclass datasets. In this study, based on a probabilistic rough set model, we propose the class-oriented attribute reduction (COAR) algorithm, which separately finds a reduct for each target class. Thus, there is a strong dependence between a reduct and its target class. Consequently, we propose a type of ensemble constructed on a group of classifiers based on class-oriented reducts with a customized weighted majority voting strategy. We evaluated the performance of our proposed algorithm based on five real multiclass datasets. Experimental results confirm the superiority of the proposed method in terms of four general evaluation metrics.

Multiclass classification is typically performed using the voting scheme method based on combining binary classifications. In this paper we propose multiclass classification method for large data, which can be regarded as the revised one-vs-all method. The multiclass classification is performed by using the hat matrix of least squares support vector machine (LS-SVM) ensemble, which is obtained by aggregating individual LS-SVM trained on each subset of whole large data. The cross validation function is defined to select the optimal values of hyperparameters which affect the performance of multiclass LS-SVM proposed. We obtain the generalized cross validation function to reduce computational burden of cross validation function. Experimental results are then presented which indicate the performance of the proposed method.
We present a new ensemble learning method that employs the set of region experts, each of which learns to handle a subset of the training data. We split the training data and generate experts for different regions in the feature space. When classifying a data, we apply a weighted voting among the experts that include the data in their region. We used ten datasets to compare the performance of our new ensemble method with that of single classifiers as well as other ensemble methods such as Bagging and Adaboost. We used SMO, Naive Bayes and C4.5 as base learning algorithms. As a result, we found that the performance of our method is comparable to that of Adaboost and Bagging when the base learner is C4.5. In the remaining cases, our method outperformed the benchmark methods.
Stress is a significant issue in modern society, often triggered by external or internal factors that are difficult to manage. When high stress persists over a long term, it can develop into a chronic condition, negatively impacting health and overall well-being. However, it is challenging for individuals experiencing chronic stress to recognize their condition, making early detection and management crucial. Using biosignals measured from wearable devices to detect stress could lead to more effective management. However, there are two main problems with using biosignals: first, manually extracting features from these signals can introduce bias, and second, the performance of classification models can vary greatly depending on the subject of the experiment. This paper proposes a model that reduces bias using convo utional autoencoders, which can represent the key features of data, and enhances generalizability by employing soft voting, a method of ensemble learning, to minimize performance variability. To verify the generalization performance of the model, we evaluate it using LOSO cross-validation method. The model proposed in this paper has demonstrated superior accuracy compared to previous studies using the WESAD dataset.
A support vector machine (SVM) is supposed to provide a good generalization performance, but the actual performance of a actually implemented SVM is often far from the theoretically expected level. This is largely because the implementation is based on an approximated algorithm, due to the high complexity of time and space. To improve this limitation, we propose ensemble of SVMs by using Bagging (bootstrap aggregating) and Boosting. By a Bagging stage each individual SVM is trained independently using randomly chosen training samples via a bootstrap technique. By a Boosting stage an individual SVM is trained by choosing training samples according to their probability distribution. The probability distribution is updated by the error of independent classifiers, and the process is iterated. After the training stage, they are aggregated to make a collective decision in several ways, such ai majority voting, the LSE(least squares estimation) -based weighting, and double layer hierarchical combining. The simulation results for IRIS data classification, the hand-written digit recognition and Face detection show that the proposed SVM ensembles greatly outperforms a single SVM in terms of classification accuracy.

With the recent increase in diabetes incidence worldwide, research has been conducted to predict diabetes through various machine learning and deep learning technologies. In this work, we present a model for predicting diabetes using machine learning techniques with German Frankfurt Hospital data. We apply outlier handling using Interquartile Range (IQR) techniques and Pearson correlation and compare model-specific diabetes prediction performance with Decision Tree, Random Forest, Knn (k-nearest neighbor), SVM (support vector machine), Bayesian Network, ensemble techniques XGBoost, Voting, and Stacking. As a result of the study, the XGBoost technique showed the best performance with 97% accuracy on top of the various scenarios. Therefore, this study is meaningful in that the model can be used to accurately predict and prevent diabetes prevalent in modern society.
