The purpose of this study was to explore the elementary English conversation instructors' perception on their professionalism and the needs of teacher training program. The survey data were attained from 136 elementary English conversation instructors. Descriptive statistics were employed to discuss the result of the survey response. The results of this study revealed that the elementary English conversation instructors perceived the need of in-service training program for their professionalism improvement, especially in teaching techniques for four language skills. The result also revealed that the instructors need to be more equipped with the knowledge of elementary learners' developmental psychology and L2 learning process. The study concludes with several suggestions for elementary English conversation instructors' improvement of teaching professionalism and in-service training program.

Journal of Convergence for Information Technology. This study explores how native speakers (NSs) and non-native speakers (NNSs) of English negotiate meanings during conversational interactions to achieve successful communication. This study involved 40 participants: 20 native English speakers and 20 Korean university students. The participants were divided into 20 pairs, with each pair consisting of one NS and one NNS. Tasks for conversation were given and the execution recorded in order to collect data. 37 recorded conversations were transcribed and used for analysis, including statistical analyses. Results showed that both NSs and NNSs mutually put in effort for successful communication. While NSs mostly played the role of leading the natural flow of the conversation, encouraging their non-native interlocutors to speak, NNSs used various strategies to compensate for their lack of linguistic competence in the target language. NNSs employed a wide range of communicative strategies to keep the conversation going. The results of this study contribute to a better understanding of interactions between NSs and NNSs and yield pedagogical implications.

This study aims to suggest more efficient ways of teaching English more related to but distinct from major English, based on the needs and awareness of the students of English Education Department. For this, interviews and surveys have been carried out targeting some English Education majors. The results show that the satisfaction level of students is relatively low, marking around the score '3'. While the satisfaction level about classroom environment including the multi-media equipment, and professors' teaching ability, quality and methods is higher compared with other factors, the improvement of English skills and interest-causing levels are lower on average. Besides, this study also includes the surveys on the needs of students for various teaching programs, differentiated classes and qualified instructors. Based on the results, this study makes three suggestions as follows; (1) the opening of some specific English classes for English-education majors (2) the development of English-conversation classes related to English-education majors (3) the development of communication-centered English reading based on English literature.
