A Study on the Elaboration of Request for Proposal of Localization Parts using AHP method (AHP 기법을 적용한 부품국산화 제안요청서 정교화 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to elaborate the request for proposal (RFP) for the localization parts development support project of core parts carried out by the Defense Agency for Technology and Quality. The RFP is the most important document throughout the localization parts project, including project announcement and developer selection, design and test of the development product, final evaluation, and standardization of the project. However, if the RFP is not established at the beginning of the project, there is an increased risk of business failure due to frequent changes by various reasons. In this study, we recognized the necessity of elaboration of RFP and applied the AHP method for quantitative elaboration. Eight requirements of the RFP related to the mechanical/electrical performance of localized development products and three elaboration methods for each requirement were designed in a hierarchical structure, and each weight was calculated by applying the 5-point scale AHP method. The AHP survey was conducted with 20 developers participating in the localization parts project, and the consistency ratio of the AHP survey result was less than 0.1. The elaboration method with the highest value among the calculated weights is classified, and the analysis results and future research directions of the elaboration method are presented.

Trend Analysis of the COD and Nutrients Concentrations in the Yongwon Channel, Chinhae (진해 용원수로의 COD 및 영양염류 농도 추세분석)

  • Youngwon channel located in Chinhae city and formed by the Busan New Port Construction Project has been concerned about the water quality degradation problems because of the flow and pollutants stagnation due to its long-narrow shape. In this study, the water quality(hereafter WQ) variation is analysed by using the monthly WQ data measured in Yongwon channel from 2003 to 2007. The analysis shows that the TN and TP concentration in the inside Yongwon channel is definitely worse than the TN and TP concentration in the entrance of the Yongwon channel based on the 95% confidence level. The COD, TN, and TP concentrations in the Yongwon channel are 1.34, 2.08, and 1.80 times larger than that in the entrance of the Yongwon channel, respectively. It has been found that only the TP concentration in SW-26 station has an increasing trend based on the Mann-Kendall test with respect to 95% confidence level. The other stations and the other WQ constituent changes do not have the any significant trends.

  • Recently, exposed concrete by machinery trowel is generally used in industrial floor such as warehouse. Also, concrete using only the cement has been mainly used except mineral admixture in order to secure surface abrasion resistance. However, in hot weather construction, it is causing a serious problem such as workability inhibition of trowel using only ordinary portland cement. Due to this, it was investigated the effect of application of fly-ash and ground granulated blast furnace slag on properties and abrasion resistance of concrete for industrial floor in this study. The result of this study, it was confirmed that fly-ash and ground granulated blast furnace slag can be used in concrete for industrial floor without affecting significantly the properties of concrete.

Influential Factors for NO_X Reduction Performance of Urea-SCR System for an In-use Medium Duty Diesel Engine (중형 운행 경유차용 Urea-SCR 시스템의 아랫첨자 $NO_X$ 저감성능에 미치는 영향인자)

  • This study is a part of project of urea-SCR system development for an in-use medium duty diesel engine. This study shows the effect of ammonia oxidation catalyst and SCR volume on $NO_X$ reduction performance. When AOC(Ammonia Oxidation Catalyst) is not used, the urea injection should be controlled accurately to prevent $NH_3$ slip. However, it is found that the accurate $NH_3$ slip control is not easy without AOC in real engine operating conditions, because $NH_3$ and $NO_X$ reaction characteristics change with many factors such as exhaust gas temperature and $NH_3$ absorbance on SCR. SCR volume is also one of important design parameters. This study shows that $NO_X$ reduction efficiency increases with increase of SCR volume especially at high space velocity and low exhaust gas temperature conditions. Additionally, this paper shows the emissions of EURO-2 medium duty diesel engine can be improved to the level of EURO-5 with a DPF and urea-SCR system.

TriSec: A Secure Data Framework for Wireless Sensor Networks Using Authenticated Encryption

  • Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are an emerging technology and offers economically viable monitoring solution to many challenging applications. However, deploying new technology in hostile environment, without considering security in mind has often proved to be unreasonably unsecured. Apparently, security techniques face many critical challenges in WSNs like data security and secrecy due to its hostile deployment nature. In order to resolve security in WSNs, we propose a novel and efficient secure framework called TriSec: a secure data framework for wireless sensor networks to attain high level of security. TriSec provides data confidentiality, authentication and data integrity to sensor networks. TriSec supports node-to-node encryption using PingPong-128 stream cipher based-privacy. A new PingPong-MAC (PP-MAC) is incorporated with PingPong stream cipher to make TriSec framework more secure. PingPong-128 is fast keystream generation and it is very suitable for sensor network environment. We have implemented the proposed scheme on wireless sensor platform and our result shows their feasibility.

  • With the rate of worldwide LNG demand expected to grow faster than that of gas demand, most major oil companies are currently investing their resources to develop floating LNG-FLNG (i.e. LNG FSRU and LNG FPSO). The global Floating LNG (FLNG) market trend will be reviewed based on demand and supply chain relationships. Typical technical issues associated with FLNG design are categorized in terms of global performance evaluation. Although many proven technologies developed through LNG carrier and oil FPSO projects are available for FLNG design, we are still faced with several technical challenges to clear for successful FLNG projects. In this study, some of the challenges encountered during development of the floating LNG facility (i.e. LNG FPSO and FSRU) will be reviewed together with their investigated solution. At the same time, research of new LNG-related technologies such as combined containment system will be presented.

  • The improvement of the reliability of weapon systems and the reduction of the total life-cycle cost based on the improving of the DT&E system for Company Organized weapon systems research and development are urgently required. The major advanced countries operate test and evaluation centers for military (U.S.), manage a large scale organization of IPT personnel (England) or conduct management of DT&E through a third party organization (France). Based on a survey of experts, an improvement of the DT&E policy in terms of reliability and objectiveness is needed, and management through a third party national defense agency and civilian agency such as the Surion development case is required. In addition, although it appears that efficiency improves when management of DT&E is performed by national defence agencies rather than civilian agencies, it is necessary to proceed by selecting a civilian agency based on competition in the case that it is difficult to select a national defence agency.

  • A numerical study has been carried out to investigate the heat and mass transfer of an oil pumping system with a variable shape of the housing using the CFD method. Especially, the electric motor and the pump combined together, accomplishes a research about the oil supplying system. In this study, the temperature and velocity distribution of the oil pumping system by varying the flow rate of supplying oil have been investigated. The temperature changes with each five conditions(flow rate of supply oil : 2, 4, 8, 12, and 16 liter/min) have also been studied. The numerical results show that the exhaust temperature decreases as the flow rate of the supplying oil increases. It also reveals that the temperatures change differently with the housing shape.

Evaluation and Analysis of Software Globalization Capability in Korea (국내 소프트웨어의 글로벌화 수준 평가 및 분석)

  • While software globalization is becoming more important, little research has been undertaken into what is meant by globalization and the degree of globalization capability in the Korean software industry. A survey study was conducted among software engineering professionals, gathering the data from 31 IT companies across 7 large-scale projects in Korea. The results indicate that the evaluation score for globalization capability is 2.51 out of 5 points, which is the lowest compared to other areas of software engineering such as team capability (2.88), process and tool supports (2.96), project management (2.97) and development (3.64). We also discuss how to introduce software globalization technologies in Korea based on the successful experiences of leading global IT companies.
