Role of University on Undergraduate Employment by Disciplines

  • This study starts from the perspective that preparing students for employment is the most important role of undergraduate degree programs. Therefore, we examine the determinants of undergraduate employment, especially highlighting the differences by disciplines. We classify 28 factors into five categories such as personal attributes, entrance attributes, students’ employment-related activities, regular curriculum and employability programs provided by universities. This study is based on data from 7,616 students from a Korean university over four and half years. Findings reveal that university efforts are crucial in engineering. Only exchange programs and employment programs have an impact on science. There are no specific factors in humanities and social science. Grade point average and students’ efforts are important in business. Face-to-face coaching in employability support programs is effective for securing employment except in science disciplines. The study results do not point to the absence of a role of university even in the low employment disciplines. Rather, the issue is that of an over-supply of graduates exceeding job offers that results from the worldwide expansion of higher education services.

AHP를 이용한 소프트웨어 개발비 보정계수 산정 (Estimating Cost Adjustment Factors of Software Development Projects using Analytic Hierarchy Process)

  • The purpose of this paper is to reorganize cost adjustment factors of software development projects in estimating software development cost, and derive adjustment coefficients of application types and language types by analytical hierarchy process. We constructed a decision-making hierarchy of various criteria which determine the complexity of application types and language types, and conducted a survey on the pairwise comparison among alternatives. Finally, the cost adjustment coefficients of application types and language types were derived by analytic hierarchy process. This paper is the first study in which the analytic hierarchy process was applied to the field of estimating cost adjustment factors of software development projects.

장력법을 이용한 필릿용접변형의 감소에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Reduction of Fillet Welding Deformation by Applying the Tensioning Method)

  • The portion of thin plate is expected to increases as to the development of design and fabrication technology. The weld-induced deformation is more serious in thin plates than in thick plates because heat affect zone of thin plates is wider than that of thick plates, and in addition internal and external constraints much more influence upon weld-induced deformation of thin plates. This paper is aimed at applying the mechanical tensioning method to fillet weld of thin plates to reduce the weld-induced deformation. For this purpose, fillet welding tests have been carried out for several thin plate specimens with varying plate thickness and magnitude of tensile load. From the present study, it has been found that the tensioning method is effective on reduction of weld-induced deformation.

  • Recently, the world is facing many difficulties in all areas as a result of price instability and the Russian-Ukraine war. Personally, as many jobs disappear, household income is declining sharply. In particular, the possibility of such bankruptcies is relatively increasing in small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and it is highly likely that this will continue for the time being. In this situation, countries around the world are continuously making efforts to improve corporate productivity. In Korea, the smart factory support project implemented by the Smart Manufacturing Innovation Promotion Team has been continuously promoted for the past several years, providing opportunities for SMEs in need to improve productivity and change the corporate structure. In this study, the current status of smart factory promotion at home and abroad was examined, and problems and improvement measures were studied for the insufficient efficiency in the smart factory promotion system implemented in Korea.

경관도로 등 신개념의 도로사업 개발에 관한 연구 (A Strategy for Developing New Road Projects)

  • 최근 도로선진국이라 할 수 있는 나라들에서는 다양한 도로사업의 발굴 및 장려정책이 도입되고 있다. 본 논문에서는 새로운 도로사업의 발굴을 위한 대안모형을 제시하였다. 새로운 도로사업 발굴을 위한 절차로는 근거법령의 모색 신개념 도로사업의 발굴, 평가 모형구축 및 운영지침 개발, 관련행정체계 개선 등 크게 4가지의 주요 절차가 필요한 것으로 제시되었다. 근거법령의 모색은 도로법 및 도로법 시행령, 시행규칙 등이 우선 고려되어야 할 것으로 분석되었으며 신개념의 도로사업 발굴절차는 크게 국가적 차원의 유일성 확보 도로, 다양한 가치기준에 의해 선정되는 도로 및 단일시설, 기술(설계 우수VE 및 LCCA사례 포함) 및 구조물 형태로서 발굴될 수 있는 사례로 세분류하였다. 평가모형 구축 및 운영지침 개발절차에서는 미국 NSBP프로그램의 절차 혹은 지속가능한 도시대상의 절차를 사례로 할 수 있으며 분석적 계층화법(AHP) 및 다지역산업연관모형(MRIO)의 적용가능성도 제시하였다. 또한, 관련 행정체계의 개선에서는 건설교통부의 도로기획관실 업무내역 분석을 통해 도로정책팀과 도로환경팀의 역할을 제시하였으며 평가위원회의 구성, 평가과정과 일체화된 예산지원절차를 추진방안으로 제시하였다.

해조류의 혐기성 발효를 이용한 메탄 생산 (Production of Methane from Anaerobic Fermentation of Marine Macro-algae)

  • 해조류를 바이오매스로 이용하는 혐기성 발효를 통해 메탄을 생성하는 연구를 수행하였다. 먼저 원소분석을 통한 다시마, 미역, 톳 등 세 종류의 바이오매스의 이론 메탄가스 전환량을 구한 결과, 분석한 세 종류의 해조류는 C 34 ~ 36%, H 5%, O 37 ~ 43%, N 2 ~ 4%, S 0.4 ~ 0.7%, ash 14 ~ 21%를 포함하고 있었으며, 이론적으로 56 ~ 60%의 메탄전환이 가능한 것으로 나타났다. 이는 g VS(고형분) 당 442 ~ 568 mL의 메탄가스를 생산할 수 있는 양이다. 생물학적메탄잠재력 (Biological Methane Potential, BMP) 시험을 통하여 실제 메탄가스를 측정한 결과, 다시마에서 최대 메탄생성수율 (52%)을 보였다. 이어서 회분식으로 메탄가스 생산에 영향을 미치는 여러 가지 인자들 (유기물 농도, pH, 염분, 입자크기, 그리고 시료전처리)에 대한 조사를 통해 최적의 메탄가스 생산조건을 구하였다. 전처리한 다시마 5 g VS/200 mL를 pH 8조건에서 염분 제거 없이 사용했을 때 이론치의 51%(197.1 mL/g VS)를 얻었고, 더욱이 습식멸균기로 해조류를 찐 경우 27% 증가한 268.5 mL/g VS 메탄가스를 생산할 수 있었다. 또한 연속반응기 (7 L 운영부피/10 L 반응기)를 이용하여 65일 간 운전한 결과 하루 최대 약 1.4 L의 메탄가스 (평균 메탄함량 70%)를 생산할 수 있었다.

Analysis of soil resistance on drilled shafts using proposed cyclic p-y curves in weathered soil

  • A fundamental study of drilled shafts-soil systems subjected to lateral cyclic loading in weathered soil was conducted using numerical analyses. The emphasis was on quantifying the soil resistance of laterally cyclic loaded pile using 3D finite element analysis. The appropriate parametric studies needed for verifying the cyclic p-y characteristic are presented in this paper. A framework for determining the cyclic lateral load transfer curve (p-y curves) on the basis of numerical analyses is proposed. Through comparisons with results of field load tests, the three-dimensional numerical methodology in the present study is in good agreement with the general trend observed by in situ measurements and thus, represents a realistic soil-pile interaction for laterally loaded piles in soil than that of existing p-y method. It can be said that a rigorous present analysis can overcome the limitations of existing cyclic p-y methods to some extent by considering the effect of realistic three-dimensional combination of pile-soil forces. The proposed cyclic p-y curve is shown to be capable of predicting the behavior of the drilled shafts in weathered soil.

  • "KAGUYA"(SELENE) is a Japanese Lunar Explorer launched by H-IIA rocket from Tanegashima Space Center on 14 September 2007. The dual-mode bipropellant propulsion subsystem of KAGUYA includes two fuel tanks, an oxidizer tank, propellant and pressurant control components, twelve monopropellant 20N thrusters, eight monopropellant 1N thrusters, and a bipropellant 500N Orbit Maneuver Engine(OME). Once the KAGUYA separated from the rocket, it circled the Earth twice and traveled to the Moon, where it entered lunar orbit. All maneuvers were performed through multiple 500N OME/20N thruster firings. This paper describes the in-space performance of KAGUYA Lunar Explorer bipropellant propulsion subsystem.

  • The demand for light-rail construction projects has recently been increasing, and they are mostly supervised by private construction companies. Therefore, a private construction company that aim to raise gains from the operation of the facilities during the contract period greater than what they invested should b able to accurately calculate the costs from the aspect of Life Cycle Cost (LCC). In particular, a light-rail transit bridge that has a heavier portion from the aspect of the cost of light-rail transit construction requires a more accurate calculation method than the conventional LCC calculation method. For this, an LCC analysis model was developed and a cost breakdown structure was suggested based on literature review. The construction costs by shape of the upper part of a light-rail transit were calculated based on the cost breakdown system presented in this paper, and the cost generation cycle and cost unit price were collected and analyzed based on records on maintenance costs, rehabilitation and replacement. In addition, after forming some hypotheses in order to perform the LCC analysis, economic evaluation was conducted from the aspect of the LCC by using performance data by item.
